My thoughts on everything
I’m not the first or only person to do this, but I’m going to be stepping away from this blog indefinitely. Things have been going downhill for awhile and these last two allegations were the last straw. I obviously can’t say for sure if they are real or fabricated, but as things stand now I believe both of them. I don’t want to talk too much about either situation. It’s not that I’m leaving over these two things only, but rather a mountain of issues that have been building for years. I’ve been hanging on by a string for awhile, and it’s time to let go.
The thing that sucks the most is that I’ve grown up loving Smosh. I watched it for years, I loved the cast and crew, it was and is a huge part of my past. But the Smosh I look at now isn’t the Smosh I once loved. I’ve tried making excuses for them, justifying their actions, or trying to look at things with a positive light for too long. As hard as it is, I have to open my eyes and realize that the Smosh I became a fan of is over. If I were to step into the fandom and the content blind right now, I wouldn’t stick around. And I think that’s very telling. Some of the people I thought I knew have proven me wrong, some of the people I supported no longer hold the same respect in my eyes. It really sucks, but that’s how things are. It tears me apart.
I think the main thing I and everyone else should take from this is that we don’t know influencers or celebrities. It’s easy for us to watch someone for years and think we know them or their character. This is especially true for youtubers, who tend to have a more personalized style of entertainment. Of course, we want to believe that the people we watch are good people, and there’s nothing wrong with assuming that. If you’re supporting someone, it’s probably because you believe they hold the same values and character you do. But when things come to light - either big or small - we shouldn’t dismiss it. It can hurt to hear that someone you’ve been devoted to for years isn’t who you though they were, but that doesn’t mean you can ignore it. There are probably people you’ve had to distance yourself from in real life, it’s the same idea here. When negative allegations do come about, stop and think critically. Look at each side, educate yourself, and come to a conclusion as objectively as you can. We may not ever know for sure if what is being alleged is true. But we can still look at the situation and try our best to make sense of it.
I’ll continue to cheer on those who I still respect and believe to be good people. Will I watch Smosh or NE6 videos? I don’t know. I haven’t really watched Smosh videos recently anyway, but with things up in the air with Wes I don’t know if I want to watch NE6, even though the others on that channel I still love and want to support. I have multiple fics in progress right now, some of which include people who have been questioned recently, and I don’t know if I want to continue them under these circumstances. Regardless, I won’t be posting here anymore. I’ll leave my blog up, there are still videos and posts I made that I want to keep as memories. But I think everything has been a sign to let this part of my life go, as great as it was.
If you continue to support either Smosh or NE6 thats great, just try and think critically about who you’re watching. Neither of these channels or companies are irredeemable by any means, but they obviously aren’t perfect either. Thank you to everyone who follows me and to the whole Smoshblr, it really is a good group of people. Unfortunately, we’re brought together by something that’s a bit broken. I’ve had a great time, blessings and love to each one of you.

thoughts on sonja’s statement?
for those who might not know. sonja, better known as OMGitsfirefoxx, released a tweet today detailing an unconsensual encounter she had with a man named Wes.
I feel so horrible for her, she never should’ve had to go through that sort of thing, nobody should.
If it was the Wes we know, no matter how much we think we understand him, he needs to be held accountable for this.

I don’t think Smosh is gonna shut down or disband, and here’s why: fear.
TW/ Matt Raub
After the Defy shutdown, Smosh as a whole seemed like it was no more. Our beloved casts were going into separate ventures, focusing on other career paths, or escaping the gaze of social media almost entirely. When Smosh came back, it was salvation for some and poison to others.
The full-time returners (Damien, Shayne, Ian, Courtney, Sarah, M*tt, Tim, Monica, and Tommy) ran back in a moments notice to rebuild what they thought they could never have back. The part-timers (Olivia, Keith, Noah, Mari, and Lasercorn) had two separate energies. Some were anxious about the new styles (Olivia and Keith), and some tried to settle in and couldn’t seem to find their footing (Noah, Mari, and Laser). Others ran for the hills (Flitz [even though he was already long gone from Defy Smosh], Boze, Wes, Sohinki and Joven) and hoped to take part in other ventures.
For lack of a better term, I think Smosh is drowning. Specifically Smosh main and Smosh Games. I think that Smosh Pit and the Smoshcast make the best content right now. A big part of that is likely M*tt’s leadership choices that seems to slowly chop off members. With several of the favorites leaving Smosh, especially to work on other content on the same platforms, Smosh is dazed and confused. They never seemed to get their footing after being saved by Mythical! Instead, the began picking up the pieces, having some successful series, putting together a tour, and then quarantine has happened which limits content and quality.
I could go into a whole thing about how Smosh Games was doomed from the restart and how they would never fully recover with so many of the popular faces gone and the desire for certain series to come back, along with his YouTube in general stifles gaming content, but this post is already long enough.
Smosh has been trying to introduce new and lovable faces who will bring in a new surge of audience appreciation (Kimmy and Jackie), and while I think that’s working somewhat, it’s not picking up the way they want it to.
Smosh has no idea where to go at this point. The answer seems simple to me: Fire that piece of shit creative director/VP (?) M*tt, put Sarah/Tommy/Monica in that position, revive the old shows that can easily be revived (Board AF, or something similar under another name to avoid further stealing from Joven), fine tune the existing new shows that are still fun (Family Style, Meme Review, What’re Those?), and let the channels feel more focused on fun than money.
I’m not a YouTuber, so I don’t know what it’s like on the inside, but I do know what it’s like to consume YouTube content. And this content has felt very forced at times...

I gotta say this cuz I feel the need to say something.
M///att R///aub never sat right with me. It was something about him. Sure, when he was a ref in summer games, I thought he was fine. But usually only during the Bellyflop competition, other times he just felt off. Then he started showing up in more and more videos. His vibe was still off. Maybe it was the way he spoke (I can’t be the only one who feels like the way he stresses certain words is weird), or maybe it was the way that none of his jokes landed for me. He was always off-putting to me.
Now that all this has come out, I feel like now I have a reason to feel like something was off. I think this whole narrative of M///att R///aub being “in charge” began on the new Board AF when he claimed to have created it “with some friends” when we all know it was joven’s idea. Idk if this makes sense, but I really hope y’all get it.
Anyway stan Boze and watch Joven’s cartoon!

i think we all really need to step back a bit with how we view celebrities like……..we don’t know these people. we are not their friends. we have a built up perception of them in our brains based on the parts of them they want us to see and the things we like to think they are. it’s not real. let it go.

As much as this drama has opened our eyes to a lot of things about M*tt R*ub and corporate!Smosh, we must remember one thing:
Don’t Attack the Cast!!
Yeah, we all hate this, but according to Boze herself, the cast can’t control who’s on the thumbnail or who’s in the video. The cast obviously isn’t in the know when it comes to the corporate side of Smosh. Boze said herself that Damien didn’t know about M*tt or that she wasn’t ask to go see the show, so I doubt Shayne and Courtney did as well. The only person part of the cast that I would expect to know about this is Ian. So please, do not assume the cast is in on this, because it will only cause more drama and Boze said not to so we must follow what Boze says.

I think it’s very telling of Boze’s character and respectability that she can speak openly about her negative experience at Smosh, and instead of disowning her we support and listen and trust

Boze just streamed. Here’s what she has to say about Smosh:
- She doesn’t like Matt Raub. He disliked Sohinki for some reason, so that’s why Lasercorn was brought back for more Smosh and Order, for example, but he wasn’t. Matt Raub has largely been responsible for the phasing out of Smosh Games members. When she mentioned on the Genius Brain podcast that she missed out on parties, only finding out the following week that there even was one, it would be Matt Raub’s party.
- Boze had to get the credits for Smosh and Order after the DEFY shutdown. It sounded like Smosh maybe wanted to continue it, but they’d have to pay her for it, so they haven’t. I could be wrong there, but that’s the impression I got.
- Try Not to Laugh was Sunny Peabody’s idea. Smosh has since made dozens of episodes and done a tour based around the show, but Sunny gets no credit for it.
- Boze did most of the advertising and planning for the TNTL tour. She put a lot of effort into it because she felt like she owed the company for giving her a platform. Boze planned to attend one of the shows, as part of her job, in order to report back to the Smosh media staff about the demographic who attended the show, which is a way to get a third party opinion of how the show went and who was there. Boze was then asked by Smosh not to attend the show. This was implied to be Matt Raub’s doing. She asked Damien about it, but he hadn’t heard anything about it.
- Boze has been so quiet about what happened at Smosh before and after the shutdown because she was worried she messed up by talking about Smosh on David So’s podcast. She though she lost all of her friends because of this. She has since regained some of those friends (NE6 members,) but says that some of the cast members who she thought she was friends with (Courtney, Damien, etc.) thought of her merely as a costar. Courtney hasn’t responded to any of her texts.
-It’s only the corporate side of Smosh that Boze feels resentment toward. She encourages Smosh fans to remain Smosh fans because they are fans of the cast, not of the higher ups in the company. Business is business, and LA is full of incincere money-grabbers.
- She urges fans NOT TO GO TO SMOSH WITH THIS INFORMATION. Draw your own conclusions, protect Boze and her livelihood, and don’t create drama. They’re all adults, they can fight their own battles. No need to stir the pot and cause unnecessary stress for Smosh, NE6, or Boze. Be a good human.
Don’t just take it from me, and point out any inaccuracies in this post or add on anything I missed. See ya, gang. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/658730241?t=5979s

More old Smosh Games videos/moments I wanna bring back (the sequeling):
A follow-up to this post because screw it I haven’t posted Smosh in a while and there’s still so many forgotten videos I love from this channel
Really any cooking video they do but shoutout to the BBQ Bacon Sushi one and the 2016 Comic Con one. The former for the way they made the food, the latter for the commentary, both because it’s the pinnacle of Joven being the Ultimate Tired Dad Friend
The second Ghost Pepper Challenge they did with the Warp Zone, which IMHO is funnier than 95% of hot pepper stuff they’ve done since
The Chivalry Game Bang and the One in the Chamber Game Bang. No real reason. They’re underrated vids and I enjoy them.
Joven and Lasercorn’s Boxing Match
19:54-27:00 of the second Sheriff of Nottingham video
SSG Camp’s Mario and Sonic @ the Olympics video (Sohinki: “PICK SHADOW HE’S GOT A GUN!”)
The punishment and ending of the Shape Up Game Bang where they try their hardest to crush Wes to death
Both GTS Mafia Videos (with special appearances from Tim)
The Game of Life, which isn’t that old but it’s probably one of the last Game Bang-esque things they did
Jet Ski Top Fun
The ORIGINAL Hot Pepper Mario Party from 2014
The full video’s fine but Lasercorn’s reaction to one of the minigame results in 50 Shades of Mario Party (timestamp- roughly 6:50-7:00)
MatPat hires Smosh Games
This Game Bang which is basically just 7 minutes of shamelessly exposing and exploiting Joven’s shock kink
The first SWG Just Dance Game Bang which results in Noah nearly getting hypothermia
All of the Block of Love Maricraft saga but particularly The Japan Incident
The Dit.ty bonus video where they get an app that makes songs out of anything you time and spent 75% of the video roasting Joven with it
There’s too many videos for me to name but some older shows like Dope or Nope, Why We’re Single, Cage Match Challenge, and Smosh Games VS some real gems in there. Especially SGVS and CMC, which were both super underrated.
