Moonglade is famous for their seasilk. It's a unique fabric made there tha isn't made anywhere else in the known world. It's similar to lam茅 made in real life but softer and silkier, and like lam茅 it comes in a variety of colors. Unsurprisingly, the members of the Silversea family often wear clothing made with seasilk.
In addition to seasilk, they have a lucrative pearl (and mother of pearl) and seafood trade, along with rarer fruits that are cultivated on the island.

HEADCANONS - House Silversea / Moonglade
Members are actually merlings/merfolk that have migrated to land in order to play an active role in shaping the world.
They are merling/merfolk royalty, in truth. Lord Merlyn is a descendent of the Merling King himself and possesses his Triton.
The Triton is infused with ancient magics that predate the Andals and the First Men. It is also likely the reason Moonglade is so lush and warm compared to places like Driftmark and Dragonstone. Merlyn rarely leaves their seat in Moonglade for this reason, as it will render the island and its inhabitants vulnerable.
Merlyn often sends retainers and ambassadors to treat with the mainland houses. He sometime even sends his own children.
Merlyn's wife's name is Nerissa.
He has thirteen known children. There is one set of triplets and one set of twins.
Often refer to the Manderly's as "pretenders" but only among themselves.
They adhere to a strictly pescetarian diet. Beef, poultry, and other meats outside of fish and seafood make them physically ill. They can, however, stomach some dairy products. (They also eat fruits and vegetables!)
They have to return to the sea/water on occasion to not only to remain in good health but to retain their connection to the sea. If any merling stays away from the sea to long they run the risk of becoming entirely human.
Marriage is heavily regulated, even by typical noblity standards. There are other noble incognito merling houses in Westeros (and beyond) and tend to favor marrying their own kind.
They don't often entertain guests at their keep but when they do they're known to impress!
The throne room of Moonglade Keep is truly remarkable in terms of design and architecture. A large circle portion of the floor is made of glass that can see through to the waters below, sort of like a wild aquarium. It can be opened to allow merlings from their undersea kingdom in whenever they hold court.
Hippocamps live in undersea stables below the keep/island.
The Velaryon's are the only people who the truth about what they are. (The knowledge is restricted to the Lord and Lady of the house.)

HEADCANONS: The Silversea Triplets
Eudora, Galateia, and Diona are the nineth, tenth, and eleventh child of the Lord and Lady of the Moonglade.
It's a rare sight to see the triplets outside the company of each other. The three sisters are more akin to best friends than merely siblings but some say their connection is deeper than even that.
And they would be right: The Silversea Triplets share a telepathic bond with one another, and while this bond is clearly stronger while they are in close proximity to each other, they can also sense each other's feelings when they are apart - no matter the distance. (Think: The Stepford Cuckoos of Marvel fame.)
They are jokingly referred to as "The Sirens" by other family members due to their cliquish behavior. (Sirens are a real thing and a real threat. All sirens are merlings but not all merlings are sirens.)
Eudora seems to be the defacto leader among the three. Being the eldest and most level-headed (see: mature) of the bunch, it's hardly surprising.
Galateia possesses a romantic heart. She appears to be the most interested in the opposite sex and is likewise the most flirtatious.
Diona, while appearing sweet and demure on the surface, is quite clever and wily.

I've decided that Moonglade has a few smaller islands very close it referred to as the Moonscales.
These islands are primarily inhabited with fishermen/sailors. Some are normal humans (that are basically beholden to the merlings for one reason or another and are forbidden to speak of their true nature to others) but some merlings live there as well. Generally "smallfolk" merlings.
I've also decided that they are technically a matriarchal society but since they are posing as Westerosies, they pretend they are patriarchal.
There are more female merlings than their are male. It's why so many mate with humans.
Nerissa Silversea is the true power behind Merlyn.
They have TEN daughters and THREE sons.
Generics are extremely varied among their people due to how much longer merlings have been in the world. It's not unusal for hair and eye color to vary among families.
Due to their intermingling with humans, ancient merlings looked vastly different to their modern day counterparts.

OPEN THREAD for: Galateia, ft. Eudora & Diona.
TAGGING: Members of HoTD-Targaryens (Viserys, Alicent, Aegon, Aemond, and/or Helaena, preferably. Criston Cole is welcome too.)
PLOT SUMMARY: The Silversea Triplets are getting ready to receive visitors from the mainland. It's the first time since Aegon the Conqueror that the Silversea's have entertained dragons on Moonglade. (This will obviously be following an alternate timeline as the Dance has yet to break out; if it does at all.)
The palatial residence has been abuzz with activity in the weeks leading up the arrival of members of House Targaryen; the royal family of Westeros. It was said the King Viserys and the Queen Consort Alicent would be arriving via ship, along with their children: the Princes Aegon and Aemond, as well as the Princess Helaena. Princess Rhaenyra and Prince Daemon, and their family: the Princes Jacerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey, are to join them the following day. They were, of course, forbidden to arrive on dragonback, as the island is ill-suited to host such animals of colossal size.
Galateia, the middle sister of the triplets, stood on the veranda, overlooking the sea. She could make out a ship on the horizon, although it is naught but a speck at present. Heaving a sigh - of impatience, no doubt - she turns on her heel, scandal-clad feet clicking across the marble floor back into her shared living space with her other two sister.
"'Teia. You are still not dressed." Eudora, the eldest of the three, observes; annoyance evident in her tone. She shakes her head, curls bouncing from side to side, in dismay. Ever the punctual one, 'Dora has been ready for hours now; dressed in a gown of sea-foam green with golden detailing that is made from the finest seasilk. "Mother and Father will be terribly cross if we're late!"
"Daydreaming again, sister?" This time it is the youngest of the three, Diona, chimes in, grinning from ear-to-ear. "Thinking of which of the Princes might sweep you off your feet?" She, too, is donning a gown of seasilk, but hers are in the colors of a blushy mauve and rose gold.
Galateia, still wearing a day dress, bristles at her two sisters. "I've plenty of time to ready myself! They will not arrive for at least another hour. Besides, I'm still not certain which gown I want to wear, yet," she says with a pout. "Do I go with the crimson or the pink?"
She stands in front of her wardrobe, picking put the two frocks and holding them up in the light. Each is sublime and would equally impress, but this easily could be one of the most important fashion choices she'll ever make.
It's Eudora's turn to bristle. "Does it matter? You'll be radiant in either!" She says, matter-of-factly.
"It's not like human men truly notice what we're wearing," Diona intones, almost waspishly.
"Di speaks true! I would go for the red; it suits you better," Eudora decides, placing a gentle hand on Galateia's shoulder. "Tis your color, sister."
"Crimson," Galateia corrects before taking the gown in question behind the privacy screen to change. She could practically hear Eudora rolling her eyes at being corrected. Crimson is a shade of red, after all.
"Just get dressed, will you? They expect us to gather inside the main hall soon!" Eudora continues to harp.
--
An hour passed, then two.
The Targaryen's ship pulled into harbor about hour after Galateia had spotted them but they were likely freshening themselves after an arduous journey.
The Triplets, along with the remaining siblings on Moonglade, occupy the grand, sweep staircases. At the top and at the center of the point where one could observe the main hall, is the Lady Nerissa and the Lord Merlyn, looking every bit royal as the family who will be arriving.
Each wore a circlet of gold, inlaid with mother of pearl. Nerissa is wearing a gown of seasilk like the rest of her daughters but hers in a resplendent light blue and iridescent white. Merlyn wore a gilded tunic and long jacket that sported a similar shades of light blue and white, the two obviously wanting to show a united front.
The great double doors open and two guards lead in the procession of the royal family.
