Arcane-inspired AU with a foul-mouthed genius villain Hiro and tired, bad at shades of gray, slightly paranoid hero Tadashi? Add in a crossover with Varian and Hiccup as Hiro's friends/boyfriends and evil squad? Where their evil scheme is really just chaos and flaunting how smart they are over the city and heroes who keep them from doing what they want? I think yes.

i am. so sorry if i have ever used the phrase “i have an au where—” and led you to believe that there is an actual fic out there for you to read rather than, at best, a post where i explain the concept, and at worst it is simply something that lives in my brain

More Fae/Changeling Camilo - BUT CANON NOW
Tumblr media
Hi so a while back I did some crossover shenanigans with the concept of Camilo being Fae/a changeling. I thought I'd add some more, except this time it's within the bounds of canon!
This is a little less fantasy than the crossover with Trollhunters I helmed earlier. I'm keeping it a little closer to canon. The world is mostly non-magical with little magical things like the miracle and Madrigal magic, and things like the Fae that exist kind of beyond humanity, but most humans see them as just stories. The folks in the Encanto believe, even if they've never seen magical creatures like Fae, because well -- the Madrigals.
I want to work on a fanfic centering around this idea so I don't want to spoil too much. This is mostly going to be background for the AU, so pre-movie details for fae Camilo's place in the family.
○ Before getting into proper au stuff - let me say something I like about this! Each side of the family is kind of split into three, and the fun of this AU is that each trio has: the oldest/golden child (Julieta, Isabela, Dolores), the "magic powerhouse" (Pepa, Luisa, Antonio - let's be honest, tiny Antonio can use his Gift for all sorts of things the Madrigal's haven't realized yet), and the outsider/oddball (Bruno, Mirabel, and Camilo).
○ Okay so I feel like they discovered Camilo was swapped through one of Bruno's visions. My feeling is that one day baby Camilo just suddenly started acting up and they asked Bruno to see if he could find the reason for it -- they didn't like the answer.
○ There was a storm that lasted for days after the news was broken to Pepa and Felix. However, with no clue how to get the real Camilo back, they decided to raise the baby. Abuela pressured them not to let on about the family's sudden change in mood -- and insisted the storms were only because Pepa wasn't used to such a mischievous baby, as Dolores had been so well-behaved.
○ That first point taken into consideration, Camilo and Mirabel are super close in this AU. Camilo, Mirabel, and Antonio are sort of a trio here. Mirabel and Camilo grew up together, and while Camilo had no idea why people were keeping so much distance from him, he knew he could always rely on Mira to be there for him when he needed it.
○ The family was very guarded and distanced themselves from little Camilo at first - though Pepa did eventually get attached. At first, they were worried about whether or not he'd even get a Gift - but he did, and it was one of the most ironic gifts he could have gotten. While it was a slap in the face at first, they considered themselves lucky he even got one.
○ When Mirabel failed to get a Gift, Abuela assumed the reason was because the miracle had somehow realized Camilo had "tricked it". She was hard on him for some time after that. Eventually it subsided, but he still struggled to get recognition, and his mischievous streak was absolutely frowned upon.
○ While Pepa and Felix did still think about the baby that got swapped on occasion, they eventually fell in love with little Camilo. He enjoyed being doted on, and it seemed had no clue of the truth to his origin (rather, like many fae, he simply forgot at some point). Pepa called him all sorts of little fae-themed nicknames and he never seemed any wiser to the truth.
○ The nicknames include - her mischievous little changeling (he always thought that one was because of his Gift), little wildflower, little fae troublemaker, flighty faerie, things like that.
○ Dolores figured out the truth quickly due to hearing the adults talk with her Gift. Like Pepa and Felix, she does her best to make sure Camilo is comfortable. Whether he was the baby her mother gave birth to, or a faerie that was traded for him, she still loves him.
○ Mirabel's side of the family, particularly is a bit cagey with him (other than the cousin in question). Augustin (being "un-ceptional") is unsure how to handle dealing with a fae child (especially compared to Pepa and Felix, who take his mischief head on and deal with it). Julieta is often a bit exasperated with him, but still one of the most gentle with him. Isabela has honestly had it with him, his troublemaking, and feels he's a bad influence on Mirabel. Luisa mostly doesn't worry about it, but is still unsure how to handle the truth when she's told.
○ Camilo shows no signs of his fae heritage other than his voracious appetite and mischievous nature. The Madrigal Magic has sufficed perfectly fine, so he never really had a reason to tap into fae magic (hint hint - wink wink).
That's about all I have for now. Happy to answer questions/elaborate if anyone wants. I'm absolutely in love with this AU already and I expect to create some amount of content for it (I already have at least one one-shot and TWO multi-chapter fics [one for the Jim/Camilo trollhunters AU and one in cannon centered around the movie] planned). Thanks for reading!

Jim x Fae Changeling Camilo AU
Okay so I just wanted to toss out some ideas for a fun Jim/Camilo AU centered around Trollhunters but adding some more fantasy lore into the mix! A few tidbits that I might make a bigger post on at some point.
Literally the only reason I made this is because I love fae/faerie lore and Camilo gives off BIG fae vibes with how mischievous and chaotic his personality is. This gremlin child is my son, and is 10000% fae. Fite me.
◦ So the setting! It's basically Trollhunters. Jim is still the Trollhunter. Trollmarket is still a thing. Just... There's more fantasy. There's a whole underground magic society - witch covens, vampires, magical creatures, etc. When Jim becomes the Trollhunter, he has no. idea. How deep magic runs.
◦ Rather than people who were blessed by a miracle and gifted magic, the Madrigals are one of the aforementioned witch covens. Originally comprised of several members with Pedro and Alma at the head, the coven attempted to flee Colombia to America after being discovered, but Pedro and most of the coven gave their lives in the escape. The candle is a final gift from Pedro to Alma with a special enchantment.
◦ Casita is still a thing, and a side effect of the enchanted candle from Pedro. If non-magicals are around it acts like a normal house, but to the Madrigals it's alive. Alma originally settled in south Texas, but after a string of vampire-based murders the family moved (through transport/teleporting magic of some sort) to Arcadia Oaks, in California.
◦ Also Trollhunters aficionados will know that in Trollhunters lore it's believed that Faeries are either extinct or endangered after a war with pixies that ended in their loss. In this AU the war still happened, but it led instead to the faeries isolating themselves from the rest of the magical underground in their own special little home (similar to d&d's feywild, but a bit different).
◦ The Madrigals are new to Arcadia at the start of Jim's trollhunting adventure. Camilo becomes fast friends with Claire, who introduces him to Jim (who's a bit jealous at first, but then the chaotic bisexual kicks in and he starts pining for both of them, Merlin help him).
◦ He sees Camilo use some sort of transformation magic, and he and Toby are CONVINCED he's a troll changeling. Until Blinky knocks a book upside their heads and reminds them that changelings only have ONE human form and that Camilo is likely some sort of witch or something. Jim and Toby are lovable but certified dummies this would totally happen.
◦ Camilo gets wrapped up in the trollhunting shenanigans somehow (my bet is on when they're babysitting Enrique. Camilo had originally signed up for it, but Jim asked to tag along because investigation - and a little because he was crushing on Camilo) and lets out that he's part of a coven and introduces the gang to Casita and his family - this becomes one of their bases of operation at some point
◦ I haven't decided how they figure out Camilo's a fae changeling yet (Camilo doesn't even know - some fae children do forget that they're not human), but my bet is on it involving Vendel somehow. Maybe Vendel just kind of... senses fae magic radiating off him or something? Who knows.
◦ In this AU trolls are considered to have "stolen" magic from the fae that allows them to create changelings. While Troll Changelings are seen as generally evil, Fae changelings are mostly neutral or good. Fae are known for keeping out of most conflicts since their war with the pixies. Creating changelings is just something they've always done due to having a hard time completely cutting off ties with the human world. They like humans (and playing tricks on humans, and due to their weird sense of morality kidnapping children and replacing them with fae is seen as something of a practical joke to them). Fae changelings are generally seen as harmless.
◦ Most of the Madrigal family actually already know that he's a changeling, but never told him. Pepa was furious at first, but Alma didn't want to bring attention by getting rid of him, and they had no way to know how to access the fae's home realm (the faehome, as I'll call it) to get the REAL Camilo back, so they decided to raise him anyway. Before long, everyone just saw him as part of the family. Fae or not didn't matter, to them he was Camilo. Pepa even starts giving him little fae-themed nicknames (he just assumed it was because he often got told he seemed fae-like due to his mischievous streak and such, never caught on). They grew overprotective and didn't want to risk him using fae magic to return to faehome if he found out, so haven't told him
◦ The only Madrigals that don't know are Camilo himself (until he does), Mirabel (they were going to tell her when she turned 16 - she was let in on it by Camilo), and Antonio (too young, only just started practicing, they figure he doesn't need the shock of knowing his big brother isn't technically human).
◦ Camilo has an absolute crisis when he finds out, because he feels like everything he's lived up to now is a lie (which it kinda is, but kinda isn't). Jim and the rest of the Madrigals calm him down though and reassure him that they'll always love him, and that being a faerie doesn't change who he is.
◦ As he adjusts and comes to terms he starts being able to use more fae-based magic - maybe he even gets little wings that he can hide at will with magic that would be CUTE.
◦ I'm not sure if this is gonna be straight Jim/Camilo or if there's gonna be some polyam involved with Jim seeing both Claire and Camilo. I'm leaning toward the second because I LIKE JIM/CLAIRE TOO MUCH. Also Camilo and Claire being chaotic besties is so good.
◦ Half troll Jim. And his tiny fae boyfriend. YES?
Might be more on the way if I get more ideas in my head. I just wanted to share because I really liked the idea~

some thoughts about the encanto “fandom” more specifically to non pocs.
it’s very clear who it yt and who is poc when it comes to hcs and thats what makes some hcs frustrating. some hcs treat the things characters a seen doing as “not normal” things when its actually just common things we do in our culture.
A lot of the actions Bruno does (i.e knocking on wood) is because of his superstitions, and it’s normal for him to do this a lot because latino people take superstitions very seriously (I would know. Im half Mexican and watched my Mexican father be extremely superstitious for 9 years) Bruno throwing the salt and sugar is also a common thing? i’ve done the salt thing many times lol. and when he was jumping over the cracks he was saying a healing spell at the same time. all he’s ever heard from people is that he brings back luck so of course he is going to do things that “ward off” bad luck.
Camilo’s character description “doesn't quite know who he is yet” + his powers being shapeshifting does not mean he’s gender fluid (and trust me, i would love this representation and some hcs make me really happy to see BUT..). His shapeshifting makes sense when they also describe him as a “Theatre Kid” and he’s 15! Of course he’s trying to figure out who he is! And im sure her feels pressure with his Abuela (literally everyone feels pressure from her!) The day after Anontios ceremony, she says “we’ll find a way to make your gift useful” and im sure she said the same to Camilo with shapeshifting, because that is a tricky one to figure out.
(+ i’ve seen someone say Camilo snapping his finger was a stim. it is not. this a common gesture in colombia and I see many of my hispanic friends do it too. Dolores hm is also an expression.)
Isabela not marrying a man does not make her lesbian, she was obviously just isn’t interested in that man (and he wasn’t as in love with her either) and was going with it to make Abuela happy, which is important to know and understand. That showed how she was doing something she thought was “best” for her family rather than being with someone she actually loves. Her song is literally about how she “has” to be perfect. That is her character story. The pressure of everyone telling her how perfect and beautiful she is and being frustrated and scared because she doesn’t want to be perfect.
Grandparents in latino families are honestly.. well it’s always something new. I can’t stand to see the way some people speak about Abuela. I was very upset with her too, and yeah she was a bitch but can you blame her for reacting the way she did? She had to flee her home because of a war that was happening, watched her husband die, and was left to take care of three children. of course she took control of things. she was scared to lose her family and because of that fear it over took her sight with trying to make everything be perfect and not weak. after all, the magic was given to her family. any signs of weakness could have made her lose her family and home, something she fought for, that her husband died for.
also if Abuela didn’t care about Mirabel, how was she the one to find her? Abuela cares for all of her family, she just had a hard way of showing it because of everything she had been through.
it’s totally okay to hc characters how you want and find comfort in these characters but a big problem with people hc characters is the fact that they are erasing the actual meaning behind the movie. lgbtq+ representation is amazing, especially coming from a kids movie but that is not what encanto is about. encanto was for latin representation and people are making it to be lgbtq+ representation. if you are going to talk about these characters then you do need to understand a lot of the thing they do and say have actually meanings a cultural beliefs behind them.
apologies if none of this makes sense, it is 3 in the morning for me but :) im tired of seeing certain things under the encanto tag! don’t even wanna get started on the weird and creepy shipping and how people are drawing characters with a lighter skintone + smaller noses.. sigh.. pocs can never have something for themselves can we?
( edited + mirabels clothing was to show and represent her family!!! and you would know that if you actually gave this movie serious attention instead of projecting your own thoughts and feelings onto it! mirabels clothing and all the embroidery made me really happy and brought all of warmth to my heart because it reminds me so much of my family and the traditional clothing women still wear.
edited pt.2 + okay wow i was not expecting this to get big but it did so now im adding a few more words to this.
first of all if you took this as me saying “queer pocs do not exist!!” you are the problem and the people im talking about. obviously they do im not stupid. is that really your argument with this? go argue with the wall because im not gonna have it.
anyways what i was trying to say yes you can have these hcs but these hcs are overshadowing the actual story to this movie. this movie is representation for latino people and talks about a subject that is extremely hard for latino families to talk about or even just think about so you bet your ass we are going to get frustrated watching white people turn this movie into things that have nothing to do with the movie. that’s all these hcs are doing. ignoring the actual subject when we finally got something that talked about, represented it well and gave people comfort.
i’m honestly done speaking about it because whats there to talk about? clearly those who disagree aren’t listening to those who are frustrated and trying to understand. i’ll mute this now. thank you to the people who understand or stated they would take the time to understand.)

Just some Camilo Headcanons -
Tumblr media
Hi yes, I just wanted to talk a bit - about my favorite Encanto character. I've been thinking about Camilo's character a lot and working on building my own interpretation of his character for upcoming fanfiction and AU ideas I've gotten because I'm prone to crackshipping and wacky crossovers. These will be relevant to a lot of Camilo content I create -- and apply primarily to a modern AU but are also mostly applicable in canon -- also I just love him a lot and want to share with the class. Thank you ~
Headcanons Under the Cut
○ Camilo is the absolute most creative Madrigal In my head, Camilo is basically just the "artsy kid" almost personified. I like to think all the Madriagals have some form of creative hobby, but Camilo has so many it makes the other family members' heads spin. To list them all: Theater, singing and dance (goes with theater), styling(hair and makeup), fashion design (and sketching by extension), and photography. Maybe an instrument.
Why? Because he wants as many ways to express himself as possible. When you struggle to find your own identity, having activities that can help you express it is important! He picked up theater naturally, of course. In a modern AU more as a way of escaping family pressure by being "anyone but him" and then getting lost in it. In canon - well, he got into it for the obvious reason. Song and dance go hand in hand with it, especially since he's particularly interested in musical theater, but coming up with music and dances all his own is a fun way of self-expression outside of theater as well.
Almost everything else, though, allows him to express who he really is. He picked up sewing by hanging out with Mirabel when the two were young since they were the same age. He actually grew to really enjoy it, but while Mirabel went more for handicrafts and embroidery, he's all about fashion and making his own clothes. In fact, most clothes he wears are self-made (except for the stuff Mirabel embroiders for him). As a natural offshoot of his interest in fashion, his interest in hair and makeup came along. He grew obsessed with taking painstaking measures to present and express himself through his appearance. Photography was a random interest he picked up because, while being the center of attention and in front of a camera is fun, he found that spending time behind the camera is a great way to take the edge off. He likes taking photos of people and places around the Encanto, away from the Casita and his family. ○ Don't let this boy in a kitchen.. unless it's for tea or coffee Yeah, cooking isn't really Camilo's thing. He spends most of his time eating Julietta's cooking - he never really bothered to stop and learn himself when he has so many other things to learn. He tends to eat more than cook, and tends to let his auntie handle any cooking that needs being done. He's tried to help a few times. It didn't really go well.
That said, he makes a mean cup of tea or coffee. It's gotten to the point where he's skilled at making any form of warm drink for his family. Mirabel or Antonio are upset? Hot cocoa and some jokes or venting will solve it. Mami is stressed? What do you want to drink? Sit down, he'll take care if it. Pa wants bonding time? Alright, he'll make some coffee and they can talk. Town gossip and boy talk with Dolores? Oh, one sec sis. Let him get the actual tea. He's become an expert at this one thing when it comes to helping in the kitchen.
○ I know the campy gay is overplayed, but... Whether you ese him as gay or bi, he kind of is. I don't know if it's a bad thing to combine the fact that Camilo's definitely a campy, dramatic gay with the fact that he's both a theater kid and a fashion kid, but oh well? He's not super excessive or effeminate about it or anything, mind you. He's just very sassy, and very eager to talk about whatever cute boy has caught his attention whenever his family is willing to listen. He's flirty, excitable, and has zero inhibitions. It is not a secret, nor will it ever be a secret.
Mini headcanon: He sees a cute boy and just starts fanning himself with his hand, because this kid talks emotes with his hands constantly. If his hands aren't moving, something's wrong with him.
On the topic of romance, though. When it comes to significant others, obviously, if you give him food he'll love you forever. But also. It's a common fanon that I've seen that has him as playful and flirty. And yes, of course. But also consider - he can deal it, but can not take it. I love characters that like to flirt when they don't know how to interact with their crush, but then when their crush flirts back their brain just shuts down. That's Camilo. "Wait what? No, wait. You're supposed to be flustered that's not how this works".
○ Lowest Grades of the Madrigal Grandkids Let me preface this with: He does not get bad grades. If any of them got bad grades Alma would probably have their hides. Rather, while Mirabel and Isabella (and Antonio, when he's older) are perfect students, and Luisa and Dolores made really high grades, Camilo is kind of middling. His grades are pretty good, with some just passable grades in there - but nothing below a C grade average on an American grading scale (because I don't know Colombian grading scales). The thing with Camilo is this - if it's a class he's interested in (Language, Arts, Biology) he's really good at it. Top marks. If he's not interested in it though (History, Math), he tends to slack off a bit. He just doesn't really have a mind for anything that doesn't catch his attention and interest. He'll put in enough effort to keep from getting scolded, but lets it go otherwise. Even then, he winds up getting scolded sometimes because of Alma's high standards.
Study sessions with Mirabel are common.
○ Third most likely Madrigal to argue with Abuela In a modern AU without magic, this shoots up to #1 by the way. We all know that Mirabel and Bruno are prone to butting heads with Alma. They've done so - and will probably continue to do so if there are issues (or have in the past). Consider Camilo, however. He's a bit of an interesting case. He kind of sets himself apart from other Madrigals due to his passion for creativity. Add in the pressure from being one of the lower-grade grandkids in school and Alma's strong desire for stability for her grandkids, and you have an absolute recipe for disaster.
Still, he's just as stubborn as Abuela at times. And with his creativity and free spirit and her desire for stability and safety, they've definitely clashed before. This curbs a bit in canon after the events of the movie, as Alma is more lenient and willing to let her free-spirited grandson just kinda do his thing.
In a modern AU, though, this is made even worse. If the whole family is average, I'd be willing to argue that Mirabel, as smart and creative as she is, would be one of Abuela's favorite grandkids. They'd still clash, but not as much. Same for Bruno, who wouldn't be ostracized without the prophecies, really. Camilo, however, is still very prone to arguments with his grandmother.
In fact - in a modern AU, without the family status to rely on (though in some modern AUs he might still have that), Abuela is even more adamant on the importance of stability. Focus on school, Camilo. Try to work towards a good university, Camilo. Creativity is fine as a hobby, but you need a stable job, Camilo. A driven creative mind can only take things like that so much, and this boy is nothing if not driven. He and Abuela are constantly butting heads because of it.
○ People think he takes after Felix? This is a thought that a lot of townsfolk seem to have. He inherited a good bit of his father's humor and laid-back attitude, but he's far from taking after him. If he takes after either of his parents, it's Pepa. Consider.
A) Big emotions, constantly. Camilo and Pepa are both excitable, expressive, and emotional. Camilo a little less so, but I still think he'd be prone to pretty erratic emotional fits. Not only that, but I feel like Camilo would be just as emotionally repressed as Pepa at times. Not with the dire weather-based consequences mind you - but keep in mind. Camilo's whole thing is making people smile. He's the jokester and trickster that's meant to keep the townsfolk happy and help cheer people up when they're down. So naturally fits of anger or sadness or other negative emotions would probably cause some issues - so he's probably put under the same emotional stress as Pepa at times. It's just a bit more lenient.
Mini Headcanon: Camilo was a rambunctious kid. It could cause some serious stress for Pepa, so she'd end up reflexively using her "clear skies" chant a lot around him. Before she realized it, it started calming him down too. She started to use it to soothe him, and before long he adopted it and now they both do it as a calming mechanism.
B) These two can be really vindictive when they want. At the very least, they're the types to hold grudges over sibling squabbles - even if it's jokingly. They're sassy, a bit prone to outbursts, and love to get the last word in. Try winning against either of them in an argument, it's not easy. Especially if you're unlucky enough to get the mother-son double team against you.
C) The gremlin middle child energy is strong with these two. I can imagine Pepa was prone to getting into trouble a lot as a little girl. Especially considering her siblings were the mild-mannered Julietta and timid Bruno. They all were probably prone to getting into trouble at some point, but Pepa more than the others. Always leading the trio on little adventures that ended in chaos. Camilo has the same energy. The middle child that is constantly poking his nose into things he shouldn't be and stirring up trouble. The most outgoing of his siblings. You get the picture.
Anyway that's about it for now. I'm sure I'll come up with more in the future at some point, but this is a general character-building basis that I came up with. Of course, these are all just headcanons, so take them as you will. Like I said earlier, they're going to be relevant to content I create, but don't necessarily have to be relevant to anyone else. I'm quite fond of them though.

Okay. But Jim Lake Jr/Camilo Madrigal???
Tumblr media
NULLANY'S BACK WITH MORE WACKY CRACK CROSSOVER SHIPS LET'S GO (Essay under the cut, be prepared. Also this is placing Camilo and the Madrigals in modern times alongside Jake, obviously, so there are some differences in background - but not enough where I'd need to go in detail. TBH they could even have the magic house and powers, what with the whole magic/troll underground. Insert joke about Camilo using shapeshifting magic and the Trollhunter gang mistaking him for a changeling at some point - ) Also keep in mind a lot of the way I characterize Camilo is probably like 75-ish percent headcanon at least, since we don't see a lot of him in the movie. What we do see, though, is enough for me to draw at least some lines on his character and figure out how I'd write him.
Okay, so I've been big on a certain set of Disney/Dreamworks properties crossing over lately. Most folks who follow me know my Hiccup/Hiro/Varian crackship. But while I haven't explicitly mentioned it a lot on the blog, I've actually been thinking about the friendship between the trio and Jim Lake for a while -- because I like taking properties I love and fusing them. It's just how it go. While working on one particular idea that featured the four - I was trying to find a way to bring in a fifth. I ultimately settled on Camilo after watching Encanto. And as I was working on interactions between the group, I realized I REALLY liked the possible interactions between these two. I'm not going to go into interactions specific to the quintet (though there are some I love - like the two of them having incredulous looks whenever Hiccup, Hiro, and Varian go on their science tangents), but I'm going to tell you some of the fun things I noticed and potential interactions and chemistry between their characters because I. Love. Them. #1 - The Way To a Boy's Heart So, Camilo really likes to eat? We've seen how much he stacks his plate, and that he even transforms to try to trick his parents into letting him gets seconds. Judging from that bit alone we can imagine he's a little bit of a glutton. And what's one of Jim's primary hobbies? COOKING He loves to cook, experiment in the kitchen, and come up with all sorts of recipes. He'd love spending time in the kitchen, coming up with all kinds of things. He'd be a bit exasperated at Camilo's bottomless stomach sometimes, but overall Camilo's his #1 taste tester (along with Toby and his mom). And if he ends up accidentally making too much, Camilo's always happy for second and thirds to keep from having too many leftovers. I have a weakness for cook/glutton duos okay? And these two are amazing. I also have this image of Jim asking Pepa and Julietta for family recipes, or just about Columbian cooking, to be able to cook a wider range of things for Camilo. Of course, Camilo would absolutely love this (but he'll devour anything Jim makes, so). #2 - MAMA'S BOYS, MAMA'S BOYS, MAMA'S BOYS Jim was raised by his single mom, so naturally he's a bit of a mama's boy. One of my favorite lines is from the very first episode, where Jim's best friend Toby says he "mothers his mother a lot". He's always fretting over her, helping her, cooking for her, and carries the weight of looking after both the family and his friends. He and his mom are close, and he absolutely loves her more than anything. He goes to extreme lengths to protect her and keep her safely out of his Trollhunting shenanigans. Now, we don't see a lot of Camilo in the movie. However, I think it says a lot that one of the key scenes we see him in (while played for comedy) is him trying to help soothe his stressed-out mother. All the Madrigals find family incredibly important. It's kind of the key point of the movie. And yes, when your mother being upset means thunderstorms and hurricanes it's natural you'd want to calm her. But Camilo is so sweet and gentle with her (also he uses "mami", which - while I'm not an expert in Spanish so I can't say for sure - is a pretty cute and affectionate way to refer to your mother compared to things like má, or mamá, so), and just kind of gives off the same sweet mama's boy vibes that Jim does. TBH I'd just want to see them both interacting with their moms in the same room - man that would be cute. Also I just feel like these two could go on and on to each other about their moms? They'd trade ideas on how to soothe their overly-stressed, overworked moms. They'd plan little surprises for them or just fret over them together. They get together whenever it's one of their mothers' birthdays and bounce presents off each other. It's amazing. #3 ACTION & INACTION So, for those who don't know, Jim is the type that will sit there and pine for months or more on end without really saying or doing anything. He isn't exactly good when it comes to romance and it takes some time for him to get up the
gumption to even talk to a crush. Camilo, on the other hand, has absolutely no idea when to stop talking. He's very direct and flamboyant and flirtatious when it comes to crushes. He still flounders and gets embarrassed - but go big or go home, right? Camilo's directness would bring out a lot more of the romantic side of Jim. He can be a VERY helpless romantic in the right situation, and when someone like Camilo is flirting with him, it's hard not to be - especially since Camilo can dish it out but he can not take it. He loves flirting and flustering Jim, but the moment Jim learns to grow a backbone and flirt back, Camilo frigging melts. Once he learns this, it's a hilarious back and forth of flirting and flustering. This goes for regular banter too. Jim is very sweet, but he also has a sassy side that comes out a lot more around Camilo. The two of them sassing people together? Yes, I live for it. I feel like Jim would also teach Camilo patience, though. If Camilo brings out Jim's sass, Jim brings out Camilo's sweet side. When he's with Jim, his bluntness is softened a bit. Jim is very much the one to keep the sassy trickster on a short leash (and usually the one apologizing when Camilo's tricks get them in trouble) so he learns control. It's the perfect balance why is it so gooood. #4 - "JIM LAKE JR., YOU HAVE A TYPE." "And that type is fiery Hispanic theater kids." That joke is something that popped in my head for Toby to say at some point - because he would. In all seriousness though, there's actually a lot of things I can think of that Camilo has in common with Jim's canon love interest - Claire Nuñez. There's plenty of differences as well, but still... Jim has a type. Let's discuss shall we? Well, aside from the obvious ethic background (it's not stated which Hispanic background Claire is from, but she is Hispanic so). They're both rather fiery, sassy, and stubborn when they need to be. Not really afraid to talk back, and boy do they have attitudes. This applies a greater deal to Camilo than Claire - but well, people who know Trollhunters know that Claire can let loose when she needs to. And even if she's not as brazen as Camilo, she definitely has some sass on her, and isn't above sneaking out and breaking rules at times (Papa Skull concert anyone?). Pretty sure you don't want to make either of them angry, either. The family pressure is also real. Claire's mom is a politician, so naturally she's constantly pushing Claire. On top of that, Claire has to deal with being an older sister, babysitting her brother, keeping up grades, and everything else. As for Camilo, basically the entirety of the Madrigal family is under pressure from Abuela. In a world where they'd have to keep their magic a secret? Oh boy, it would be even worse. I feel like he and Claire would actually be good friends and would spend a lot of time in study sessions together to deal with their family's pressure to keep up grades. They're both also incredibly clever, good at thinking on their feet, and adaptable in most situations. These two are masters of improvisation and clever wordplay. Just picturing them joking around with each other and then Jim just staring like the bi disaster he is. And if you don't think that this dramatic, sassy boy isn't a theater kid, you'd be wrong. Camilo is 1000% theater kid, and he and Claire talk about whatever's going on with play rehearsals or their little theater group constantly. Essentially, Camilo and Claire are best friend, in fact they probably meet through Claire. And then the bi disaster starts pining for both of them and Toby never stops joking about it. I'm a fan of polyam so, I mean, who's stopping them? Anyway, that's about it on this one. I just wanted to give a basic idea but god I love these two. They're getting to the point where they match Hiccup/Hiro/Varian in my shipping mind, and I haven't even had them in my brain that long. Help.

totally not my brain coming up with too many details at once and me needing to write them down. keep in mind this is me having gotten inspiration from listening to a bunch of K/DA songs nonstop. So while the characters and group have their own story separate from K/DA (especially since, compared to them, this group is a bit more fresh-faced and unknown - stepping into fame for the first time), I have paced the placement and styles of each character somewhat on a K/DA counterpart. You don't NEED to know the group to get it, but those who do will know who each person's counterpart is. I Might do a more detailed version at some point - including a neat 5th member as the Seraphine counterpart that I'm gonna keep a secret for now :) Jim | Team Leader/Singer/Composer Of the group, Jim is the most idealistic, and has the least life issues. He got involved in singing and theatrics as a way to woo Claire, the girl of his dreams, but was too shy to actually sing any songs he made to her. Instead he posted them online. While they were generally popular, particularly the music he composed, they never got huge - until two online lyricists came in, tore him a new one for the cliché lyrics, and started helping him write music through online messengers. He's a passionate musician and a dreamer. He's the face of the group, especially considering they have some little gremlins that regularly need to be kept in line Hiccup | All Rounder/Dancer Hiccup grew up with dance. He was always kind of the oddball kid in his small home town, and learning all sorts of things helped him fill in the time by himself. Engineering and dance were his two biggest passions. After an accident that left one of his legs injured, and being told he wouldn't be able to dance, he begged his parents to allow a surgery that would amputate it and engineered a special prosthetic. He started dancing again, creating videos and posting them online. Before long he was contacted by Jim and the others, who saw their videos and joined their friend group. He helps Jim keep the gremlins in line. Hiro | Rapper/Lyricist Okay, so in this universe the accident at SFIT was actually an accident. Callaghan died, Tadashi was comatose, and Hiro was led into an emotional spiral - but no superhero shenanigans would help him through it, this time. Instead, he did end up relapsing into bot fighting, but found his way to a sort of underground rap scene. A new fire was lit under him, and he uses his clever mind for both wordplay and science - found his way back to SFIT (with his brother, after Tadashi woke in the hospital) and moonlit as a rapper in a community in Good Luck Alley. One of his performances got recorded and went viral, and after that he started his own presence online (Tadashi about had a heart attack when he found out Hiro was getting into rapping). He found one of Jim's videos, and instantly messaged him. The music he made was amazing - but the lyrics were lacking. To say Hiro "tore into him" is an understatement. Still, they eventually became friends and started working on music together alongside one other member. Varian | Singer/Composer/Lyricist Varian was raised by his father. He's always had a dramatic streak, and when he was young somehow became a child actor. He was pretty well known for a while, and continued acting into his teens, but it was never his passion. He enjoyed science, music, and singing. Had a talent for all those things, as well. However, his agents would only ever let him act, and he wasn't allowed any other career path. After his father ended up in the hospital due to a health condition, he took a leave of absence and eventually quit. He'd always been known to be rather spoiled and a bit of a diva, but after the fear of losing his dad (he gets better!), he got worse. He began lashing out, even at other actors who were his friends. It lead to him breaking away from his friend group, and led him into a downward spiral. He threw himself into music, and eventually found his way to joining Jim's group. That's it. There will probably be more updates
on this in the future with more details - including the mystery 5th member and Seraphine counterpart that will remain a mystery for the time being >;3

My Giant PJO AU Crossover
Okay so I hinted a while ago - before my big hiatus - that I had a big Percy Jackson AU planned for my Hiccup/Hiro/Varian trio. Well, it's turned into a LOT more than that. In fact, it turned into a big crossover between BH6, HTTYD, Tangled, and Tales of Arcadia. So. Yeah.
I'm gonna go over it here! It'll be long so uh. Brace yourself
OVERVIEW
So the AU itself is meant to be more of a low-stakes. It's meant to be a universe of Camp Half Blood where nothing bad happens and nothing went wrong, separate from PJO. The PJO timeline doesn't really have any effect on this AU. I have a whole story planned out - no real timeline yet as I haven't started outlining but let me give you an idea of the past and present of the AU
Basically it starts with Jim from Tales of Arcadia coming to camp. He gets brought by his friend Toby, who's a half-blood as well and has been looking out for him as he noticed that Jim is likely a half-blood as well. He saves him from monsters, and after a talk with Jim's mom brings him to camp. This is more about drama within camp than any external threats - as half-bloods tend to have parental issues and conflict between a bunch of demigod teenagers is bound to happen This AU focuses on the conflict between two particular groups - (read more for the incredibly long details)
THE GOLDEN TRIO (Group name pending)
The Golden Trio is a group comprised of Jim Lake Jr, Tobias "Toby" Domzalski, and Claire Nuñez from the Tales of Arcadia series. Jim is still fairly new to camp, but Toby and Claire are fairly well-known, and even popular. So being in with them kind of causes him to almost instantly be well-liked in camp.
MEMBERS
Jim Lake Jr - Son of Apollo
Jim being a son of Apollo was kind of a no-brainer for me. Anyone who knows his lore should get why I did it - "For the Glory of Merlin, Daylight is Mine to Command" anyone?
Anyway, in this universe, Jim is a demigod raised by a single mom. Barbara, his mother, tried to marry in order to give him a father figure, but said dad kind of up and left. He was named for the man so that others assumed he was Jim's father. In this universe, Jim was left the amulet he's known for as a gift from his father. It's more a proper pendant than what we're used to, just think of it as Jim's equivalent to Percy's Riptide. It turns into his sword, blessed with the power of the sun! He was claimed rather quickly, as you'd expect since he was left a gift from his dad so young. Naturally, his primary skill is in swordplay. He does have some skill in archery as a son of Apollo, as well, but he's far from the best. He does, however, have the rare ability to control light given to some Apollo kids.
Tobias Domzalski - Son of Dionysus
In this universe, Toby gets to be the one to bring Jim into the new magical world! He realized he was a half-blood a year or so before Jim, and was brought to camp by a satyr. His mom died when he was young, and he lives with his grandma, the same as in canon. His grandma had no idea about the whole "Demigod" thing. I still don't know if she realizes or not, as she's rather old and eccentric - ToA fans get it. She just knows he goes to camp with his friend every summer. I wasn't sure where to put Toby at first. I settled on Dionysus because he simply seems to have the disposition. Energetic, fun loving, a party kid as it were. As for Dionysus kid powers - the one Toby uses most often would be control over the growth of vegetation. He also has his hammer - likely smithed by one of Hephaestus' kids. He uses his natural ability with cats to help keep his nana's cats under control at home as well! Being a son of Dionysus is very useful for him in that sense.
Claire Nuñez - Daughter of Hecate
So yeah, since Hecate kids have the actual ability to cast magic - Claire's godly parent was another one of those "ah, it's this one" instant decisions. It just works.
Of the Golden Trio, Claire's been at Camp Half Blood the longest. I find it funny I kind of went in reverse order of who gets involved with the magical shenanigans in ToA. As far as background. Claire lives with her dad and stepmom. Her stepmother is a bit more accepting of the whole demigod thing than some stepparents - but it does cause her to push Claire to succeed quite a lot. It's a struggle all its own, in a way, especially since she's expected to help look after her little brother Enrique when she's not at camp. Naturally, she has the spellcasting ability given to children of Hecate. On top of that, she has the ability to manipulate and control darkness. Her and Jim are quite the team with their demigod abilities. She doesn't really have much skill with weapons - but she still packs a punch. DYNAMIC
The group comes together pretty quickly after Jim comes to camp. Claire and Toby had already started talking and becoming friends due to both being from Arcadia. Toby was determined to put in a good word for Jim after finding out Claire was a demigod as well. As stated, Toby was the one who brought Jim to camp after saving him from a monster attack. The two have always been thick as thieves, but they started getting even more close after figuring out they were both demigods. Toby introduced him to Claire after coming to camp, and the short period Jim was in the Hermes cabin was spent trying to talk to Claire and getting her help adjusting to camp. Before long the three of them were just kind of hanging out all the time. Their dynamic is mostly the same as in the show afterwards.
THE TERRIBLE TRIO
The terrible trio consists of Hiccup (HTTYD), Hiro(BH6), and Varian(TTS), and doesn't exactly have the best reputation - as you can probably imagine with their name. They're kind of the camp bullies in a way. They're known for having bad attitudes and wreaking havoc for anyone who gets on their bad side.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock - Son of Hephaestus
So, Hiccup is known for liking to make things, craft things. He's something of a blacksmith himself in his source material - so Hephaestus might be an expected, but natural choice.
Hiccup is generally seen as the most mild member of the terrible trio. On his own, most people like him, and he's rather agreeable. He's friendly and there are plenty of people who like him. However, when he's with Hiro and Varian, he's very defensive and protective of the two. He lives with his mom, Valka, and step-dad, Stoick. He's always been a bit of an awkward kid who's loved building and engineering things. He caused his parents no end of stress, but all in all they both love him very much - Stoick still very much sees him as if he was his own son.
Hiccup of course has the natural skill with crafting and engineering that comes with the Hephaestus territory. He crafted magic weapons for each of the terrible trio to use for training and in case they run into monsters outside of camp, though it took some convincing for the staff to allow it. His is a sword and shield that disguises itself as a set of rings on his fingers until twisted clockwise. He also has power over magnetism (which irritates Hiro, a scientist who specializes in magnetism and wants Hiccup's powers).
Hiro Hamada - Son of Athena
Yeah, this is another obvious choice. If there's a Percy Jackson AU involving BH6, Hiro's almost always a son of Athena. And why not? It's a perfect fit, with his intelligence, knack for planning and strategy, and inventing and tinkering skills. Hiro... Has some issues. Of course, he's still a part of Big Hero 6 AND a college student, so he can't stay at camp year round, but he looks forward to every summer. That said, in this universe, Tadashi never died which leads to the aforementioned issues. Hiro always manages to be in Tadashi's shadow. Tadashi is also a son of Athena, they're brothers in the truest sense (a rare occurrence in camp half-blood). Hiro feels that he's constantly compared to his brother, both in school and at camp, especially due to his more mischievous temperament. He tends to vent his frustrations through his outbursts at camp, even if it worsens his reputation. The campers often refer to he and Tadashi as the little monster and true hero of the camp. Hiro rather likes to brag that he got the lions' share of the natural intelligence that his mother gave her kids due to his status as a "boy genius". His natural crafting skill causes him to help Hiccup in the forge from time to time, but typically he just fiddles with robotics or electronic projects for school when he has free time. The weapon Hiccup created for him is a dagger that disguises itself as a locket, which transforms itself when the "locket" is opened.
Varian Quinn - Son of Nemesis
Quick disclaimer - Varian doesn't have a surname, so I gave him the name "Quinn". On to the actual input. So, the god for Varian. A lot of people will put him in Athena or Hephaestus, or other such cabins, but I think Nemesis is the perfect godly parent for Varian. Nemesis is the goddess of Vengeance, Justice, Retribution, and Balance. She's all about putting wrongdoers in their place, and her kids tend to hold grudges. It seems rather on the nose to me. That said, Varian has the worst reputation of the terrible trio. He lives alone with his dad, as his mother got caught in an accident. Even before coming to camp half-blood, he was rather known for being something of a jinx in his home town since bad things often happened to people who crossed him. He got into an argument with his dad one day which caused him to accidentally use his powers to "curse" his father with bad luck and got him into an accident. His dad was hospitalized and has been in a coma since. This caused conflict with some of his friends later as well, and over time his "curses" tend to cause campers to steer clear of him. Varian has a natural ability to manipulate the luck of others around him. As a son of Nemesis, that usually manifests as the ability to take the luck from those who insult him or cause issues and "curse" them with bad luck - though he doesn't have full control of his powers at first which can cause him to harm others without meaning to. The weapon Hiccup made for him is a bow with the ability to shoot unlimited magic arrows, which transforms into a set of goggles that transform at the push of a button. He's an amazing archer - one of the best at camp, even over most Apollo kids. DYNAMIC They're dating - that's it. In all seriousness - the friendship between these three started with Hiro and Varian. At first they were called the "two terrors of camp half blood". They clicked fairly quickly due to understanding each other's issues, and became fast friends. Hiccup joined in later - the trio were made to work together during a Capture the Flag game, and while Hiccup was scared of teaming up with the two terrors at first, their clever minds clicked pretty quickly. After that, Hiccup tried to reach out to the two of them to help them mend their relationships with the camp, but they weren't interested. The three of them became friends, and Hiccup took to protecting the two from being bothered as much as possible. They were pining for a while so it didn't take long for the three to just start dating each other. Since then the trio were almost always together, whenever Hiccup and Hiro came back in the summer. When Varian's alone during the year he's an absolute TERROR when not allowed to keep to himself. He just misses the two people that actually understand him. SOME MORE DETAILS
So I wanted to talk more about some of the minor characters - but this post is really long so I'm just going to go over some details of what amount of plotline I have for this here. Mabye I'll discuss the minor characters later in another post. Here's a basic overview of the story that I have planned - So basically Toby saves Jim, brings Jim into camp. During his brief time in the Hermes cabin, he takes the chance to talk to Claire. However, he also winds up accidentally offending Varian, and hence becoming a new target for the Terrible Trio's (more specifically Varian's) outbursts. It causes conflict and tension between the two groups. The idea is character growth for everyone as the groups conflict with each other, and eventually reconcile and become friends - helping the reputation of the terrible trio as well, as they learn to let go of their vindictive natures and stop lashing out (though, Varian IS a son of Nemesis so he still has his issues. Hiccup helps keep him in line - Hiro encourages him, the little gremlin).

for anyone confused about the Isabella/Dolores thing with Raps/Stalyan I made Raps Isabella due to the strained relationship between her and Mirabel. On top of that Mirabel's jealousy and whole "señorita perfecta Isabella" thing and What Else Can I Do just scream Varian and Raps' relationship.
I can find a way to shift things around in this AU so that Eugene still winds up with Raps, I just haven't taken much time to think about it \shrug/

Hiiii back again with posting in the Encanto tag.
Y’all don’t want to listen to the people who Encanto is made for. So, as a white person, I will try my best to reiterate what Hispanic and Latine people have said. (correct me if I am wrong about Hispanic and Latine being different terms from each other—I didn't want to use them interchangeably in case I am wrong)
I have wanted to stay quiet but I feel as a white queer person I have to say my part and side with who the movie is made for.
It’s fine to have headcanons about the characters being of a certain sexuality, but once you start putting reasons behind why they are queer it becomes obvious none of you guys watched the movie. Or have bad comprehension skills.
Saying Luisa is MtF because she is buff isn't the trans representation we need. it actually feeds into the masculinization that is put on women of colour. It's actually demeaning and not at all representation we need. The reason she is buff and works out a lot is a coping mechanism she uses.
Saying Isabela is a lesbian because she didn't want to date Mariano is a huge insult to her backstory. She didn't want to date him not because she was a lesbian but because she wasn't ready and didn't like him the way she thought.
Saying Camilo is genderfluid is also not the rep we need. He doesn't know who he is yet, yes, but he is also a fifteen-year-old boy. He isn't going to know. And his shapeshifting ability doesn't back up his genderfluidity either. Just like the others, he is supposed to have this expectation of using his ability to help the community.
I relate to a lot of the characters, but I know that I will never truly know them because I am not a person of colour. And, the movie wasn't made for me, so I can only relate to a fraction of what a person of colour normally would.
Just let Latine and Hispanic people have this, okay?
Please please please let me know if I am out of line I don't want to hurt any community by posting this. I am just tired of others speaking over you guys.
