I kinda have always hated the prospect of “Greco-Roman” because they’re two vastly different cultures. Which is why now I’m very annoyed at myself for writing MotA as “Greco-Roman” inspired. Anyways I’m probably gonna have to rename half the gods.

I don’t post her enough but I PROMISE Imani is CRAZY IMPORTANT TO THE STORY OF LATB. She’s a year older than Sammy (17) and plays the drums! She’s the first member of the band Sam met after escaping the lab, she gave Sammy her punk makeover and started teaching her bass so she could invite her to join their band, which was at the time called “LIZ and the Living Dead”

Anyways. Since I’ve OFFICIALLY decided Tragoedia is the MotA planet, I’m even more determined than I have been to figure out the fashion on the Ataraxian Isles.

I THINK I wanna change who wears what a little bit.

Since Tragoedia is a fantasy world heavily based off of earth all the fashion will be based off what fashion looked like in that part of the world at that time, with some exceptions.

The world is meant to have the same base technology as 1920s WITH heavy sci-fi/steampunk/cyberpunk elements (look I don’t really know what the aesthetic is because it’s kinda both). So there’s cars and trains. Everyone knows what a gun is. But the more sci-fi-fantasy part is the magi-tech. BECAUSE it’s a fantasy world with magic based off belief it’s also kind of a world where anything is possible.

Which is where I get back to the fashion.

Everywhere in Tragoedia has this thing about mortals and immortals. That looks different everywhere. In Kreastria you have the Elves who live up to a thousand years. In the Ataraxian Isles you have demigods who are un-aging and become immalleable. In Taijaing we’ve got the constructs who are theoretically immortal since they’re robots but they’re BRAND NEW to the world.

So I spent a long time thinking how that affects fashion. In Kreastria, fashion is just a few decades behind because elves are old fashioned, but not uninterested in changing things up. In Taijaing, fashion is ALWAYS changing, because there’s humans plus these brand new guys who literally have only existed for a decade running around. And in the Ataraxian Isles the fashion of demigods hasn’t changed in thousands of years because they’re so fucking old.

So I’m thinking the Isles honestly have a pretty modern approach to fashion OVERALL, but I think since demigods are mostly old as fuck, important figures don themselves in similar fashions. So there’s a bit of dissonance between them and most modern people.

I think the Oracles and the Priestesses still wear a lot of the more ancient fashion, and I think the modern fashion is always heavily influenced by more ancient fashion and even fashion only a few decades or centuries older.

Basically I think what decade of fashion people are wearing is based off whether or not there’s a lot of demigods on that island or not AND how old said demigods are.

I think sailors are ALSO people who wear the more ancient clothing, because this is Tragoedia and the isles have many many many ancient Myths about the sea so people kind of just get stuck with that.

Other than that. Idfk what I’m thinking for the fashion. I’ll figure it out tho.
