Gonna preface that these scribbles were made purely because I wanted to accompany some storywriting I had made for fun with some drawings. I felt share-y at the time, and the end of the semester is approaching, so why not? Good luck making sense of them without the context though!

The funny thing is that a friend was getting me going with his own creative writing, so I thought "yeah, let's make a lil' side-story of him for fun, why not?" And then I proceeded to write 20ish pages worth of story and exposition, alongside a few scribbles to add in between paragraphs and several footnotes to reference things.

I can see why people take up creative writing now

Okay so I kept bumping into these Soot Sprite Pokemon concepts...and it was really difficult to not try to make one

Besides a certain couple of other inspiration pushes, the main spark came from gatorstooth's art as of late!

Boxer Kan Kan

I got to do another animal buddy ability comm for HTS! This time for his crab, Kan Kan, combining with the Fighter ability! I thrive getting to come up with how these look and feel, I don't know if you can tell.

What's even funnier is that I have some Zoru ability concepts still on my mind and somewhat in progress, and full disclosure, Fighter is one close to the top of the list for me to make. And then this commission beat me to Fighter PFFT.

So maybe I played around with some more scribbles because of that

Come to think of it, I don't think I've really done Pokemon OCs in any notable capacity. I have played around with the idea a bit by drawing a theoretical team of my favorites and altering some of them a bit, but never really at a character design level.

Maybe that might change soon...

Moogle!

Okay so no one told me that the Moogle design was once a lil rabbit design, and this is now information I am very happy to acquire. Like the more famous and rounded design is really good, but this is a different kind of good that I very much welcome

Apparently in the spinoff Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, it took place in a different region known as Ivalice, and they decreed that the Moogles in that region would appear as these rabbitfolk. And then when Final Fantasy XII released and took place in that same region, they kept the design consistent with it!

I don't know what to do with this information other than find it pretty neat

Pomegranate Tree

Gonna post some of the comms I got to do over a new batch in March, just 'cause! Such as FCubivor's Pommy as I messed with brushes and scenery again!

Also just 'cause it's a funny addition, I bumped this lad through some Chicory shenanigans here and there (and you can sorta see the Chicory flair from Pommy too!). He's a rather big Pancake advocate, so I figured it was kinda fitting to imagine a parallel given my Waffles, heheh

Also just as an addendum to this because when it comes to mixing Tint with the Metronome cast (and vice versa), I have yet to come up with an answer for this

It's funnily a bit fitting because when I put Note and Clef in a dnd context, the idea of them being more like fighters is also kinda out there, haha! (but still very fun to imagine. You have no idea how much I've written about that one. There's like flat out chapters for a side story I've written for my personal fun PFFT)

I've actually done a Metronome'd Tint some time ago too, however I never really got around to fleshing out that concept. Recently though, I uncovered some old writings I had about his more casual, Metronome interpretation. So I had fun incorporating those into his look and feel

Dnd Tint grew up very fascinated with education, especially the magic kind (however he never could afford it as a commoner). So translating that to him being a proficient professor and still pushing it by being a student as well was kinda fun to envision

His favorite subjects are tied to him being a mage specializing in radiant magic (thus optics, the study of light) and his current connections that may tie him to Celestials (and thus, astronomy). Plus it helps that he is really studious, so the hard subjects kinda fit him

Having a walking stick may seem odd for a young professor/student, but his first staff as a mage was passed down to him. So I like to think something similar would apply here too

While not much of a fighter, the young professor will still stand up to anything with his beliefs and if under enough pressure; sorta mimicking how his determined state works in dnd

He would become fast friends with Leine since they would be in the same school, despite being in vastly different fields (arts vs sciences). Thus through her, he'd become more acquainted with the rest of the cast

This is just for fun to show because I wanna work on this a bit. I have had a small sketchbook sort of collecting dust for a while, and I've been meaning to use it for specifically ideas with Kirby stuff ('cause the notebook is Kirby-themed too!). So I wanna try putting together Zoru stuff on this lil notebook!

Recently I found a video online that talked about someone doing sketches with only pens, 'cause it allowed them to focus more on sketching than constantly erasing and perfecting. I haven't sketched stuff in a while, but I have a thing with that kind of perfectionism. It does make me draw a lot slower and more limited, so I wanted to try adopt a bit of that. Sketching stuff is one of my favorite things to do, and I wanna keep doing it! Messy and all!

At the same time, a bunch of my Zoru concepts and scribbles have been scattered across my computer folders and some sketchbook pages, and I've wanted to gather them into a more concrete place so that I can flesh them out and work on more concepts. It also serves as a nice trip down memory lane with how Zoru's evolved over the years

Notes Float, Simmering in the River

With my recent Chicory kick, I had one more thing I wanted to do that's a bit more ambitious. A few years back, Sakura made this music track where he meshed together some of our favorite tracks in the game alongside Note's theme and the Metronome theme. It's a really lovely thing that I still listen regularly, and it was also one of those things that has hard to not have daydreams about.

So I bring you a lil animation to go alongside it~

Definitely a lot more manageable than the last music-related animation I've done, haha! It was hard to resist drawing them by the Sips River, home to one of my favorite things to listen to in-game. Can't tell you enough how much I love hearing this when the game is still rather special to me.

The name of the music track is rather clever too, and I feel the need to point it out.

Notes Float, Simmering in the River

Note is self-explanatory as it's the name of my mascot character, and his theme is prevalent throughout the track

One of the my favorite points in the game involves floating and I hold it rather dear as it later transitions to playing More Than Myself, ending up as one motto I intend to keep

One of Sakura's favorite tracks is Simmer Springs, and he couldn't get enough of playing to it for this

And finally, the Sips River is an immediate standout for me, being the base of this track he made after I gushed to Sakura so much about it, haha

Chicory is on the mind again. Every once in a while I'll get nostalgic over that game I'm so fond of, as I still consider it as a small yet crucial piece of a puzzle I struggled a lot with. Can't help but scribble stuff for it (and also can't help but insert some of my characters in there, haha!)

So once again I say out loud, Chicory is very good

It also gave me the opportunity to revise some of the picnicsonas I've done of my own characters some time ago, as well as make some new ones as well! This is also sorta two-faced as there's one more thing I wanted to do, and this was a warmup of sorts to get into that style for a moment. So we shall see soon hopefully...

Charisma roll not needed

And for the final comm of the batch I took last month, here's Arsenius for good ol' panda, and from now on this is a household where we all love Sen. Probably one of the more technical drawings I've done in recent memory, and that's my own fault for wanting to go in on this one ahjbgasjhga

I love hearing about this lad, 'cause I got to read his backstory a while back and get to hear about how his campaign going. So as you can tell, I wanted to do him justice by going a bit more...into it. And that's added on to the fact that I've wanted to scribble him for a long while, and now I get to, eheheh.

Besides the rough character study, I had to like actually pay attention to things like anatomy for once. He still has bits of my usual style, but I wanted to reach out of the cute corner I'm always in, hah. And then mix that with going for an angle that deals with perspective problems to solve and foreshortening, so I gave myself quite a bit to figure out, pffft. Absolutely felt good getting the end result for him and my bud

Got to draw a comm for Panza that involved him and a couple of friends! I don't have the greatest range when it comes to humans and hair, so it doubles as sort of practicing with that and the structure of it.

Fun lil' fact, I was only given one image for each of them, and while I already knew Luna (left) from before, and Panza is Panza (middle), I still do not know the name of the right one, pfft. His name on my layer is still "Dude!" 'cause that's all I got
