“Prejudice, Discrimination and Stereotype”
Some people started discriminating other people because they are Asian, those people says that Asian people are virus or that everyone of them have the virus because they are Asian and that we Asian people should stop spreading the virus. There are people around the world who are hurting and assaulting Asian people because they are thinking that all Asian people are to blame for the virus/ Covid-19. Discriminating and hurting someone just because other people in their country made something bad or something that affected a lot of people badly does not make everyone in their country or people with same ethnicity a bad person or to be blamed for. For example, my father sells drugs but no one in our family knows about it but my father. My father selling drugs won’t make me a drug dealer too. Someone close to me being a bad person or doing things does not make me the exact person as they are.
Stereotyping people thinking that every Muslim is a terrorist. Not because some Muslim people decided to terrorize other people, places or country that it make every Muslim people a terrorist. In Afghanistan, January 1, 2016 a Taliban suicide bomber detonated himself in a French restaurant called 'Le Jardin' in Kabul. 2 dead 15 injured. The Taliban member’s family won’t make them a terrorist too just because someone in their family is a terrorist. Hating on someone or something won’t make us successful. Hating, discriminating, stereotyping or doing and thinking something bad towards someone will not make us a good person it will only damage the people that we criticize and hurt mentally and emotionally.
Criticizing, discriminating, stereotyping and hurting someone will never make anyone a good person or be right. Instead of judging someone why not help try help people who are in need. And teach youth on how to be a good person and how to treat everyone kindly even if someone made a mistake and hurt them, it may be intentionally or accidentally. We should stop being a bad role model to youths and start showing them how to be kind to everyone, every race, every religion, every gender. Because hurting someone won’t only destroy the person that we are hurting, it will also destroy us.

2. It’s important for me to improve these principles in my life because,
Learning, I’m not really happy to learn things that I am not that interested to.
I don’t know how but I changed, I’m not as responsible as I was before.
Priority, I have priorities but because of sadness and the horrible things that I have experienced I don’t seem to take seriously or care about my priorities as I did before.
I want to improve my self because I’m being not myself and I am drifting away from my dreams and my goals.
When I think about the things that I previously did I can’t imagine that I’m the one who did those things, that I became so lazy and let the sadness take over my mind.

Turkey and its practices
Tumblr media
Turkey is known for its oriental and European elements. From the traditional Turkish tea to Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque. They also have this famous destination, Cappadocia known for its distinctive fairy chimneys, the ruins of Ephesus, Pamukkale or Cotton Castle, their sweet treats like Turkish delights and baklava.

Merhaba. Now, as a Xenocentric, I want to share with you some of the practices in Turkey that really fascinates me. The first one is Görücülük the Courtship before marriage. We also have this kind of culture in the Philippines called "pamamanhikan" but it's kind of different in someways. In the process of Görücülük, they will visit the family of the bride. The bride will then personally make and serve its future in-laws and groom Turkish tea or coffee (which is like a test for the bride if she is fit and if ready for the marriage) and the groom can ask for the hand of bride if his mother agrees to the girl or if she wants the girl, then the groom's father will make the official announcement for their engagement.
Tumblr media
The second one is Kına Gecesi (Henna Night) it's like a bridal shower but much more formal. The henna night is a deep wedding ritual in Turkish culture that generally happens the night before the wedding ceremony where the bride celebrate her big day with family members and friends before tying the knot.
Later that evening, the groom will arrive and they'll walk in a circle three times and are seated. An elder of the group commences the henna ceremony by placing henna onto the bride and grooms palms, however in order to open their closed fists the in laws have to resent a gold coin. The stains it leaves on their hands for weeks afterwards will tell everyone that they are a newlyweds.
Tumblr media
The last one is their etiquette and manners towards others especially elders. Turkish tend to approach the eldest first when entering a room with lots of people. They will greet the elders by kissing their hands and raise it to their foreheads. They address people by using bey for men and hanim for women after their first name. When they are visiting other people's house, they remove their shoes that they used outside and will be offered a slippers that can be worn once inside the house they are visiting. Lastly, the water for luck, whenever a member of the family will take a journey, the family member will then pour a water behind them or the vehicle saying "su gibi git, gel,” which means “Go and return, like water”
