Realistically, a household the size of Wayne Manor needs more than just a butler, and while Bruce might imagine he can keep his proclivities secret from his own domestic staff, Alfred certainly harbours no such illusions. I've gotta wonder what the orientation lecture he's worked out looks like. Like, of course they're going to be extensively vetted before they ever set foot on the premises, but at some point during the onboarding process the subject of the Batcave has gotta come up – I just wanna know how Alfred broaches that.

I’ll be honest, when one party’s aiding and abetting the genocide and the other’s outright gonna kill all my friends, I don’t really care if the fascists “win”. They’ve won already.
You know who would be delighted to hear that? Trump and Putin. The US far right and the Russian government have poured lots of time, effort, and money over the last decade+ into convincing US leftists and liberals that things are hopeless, there's no point in even trying to make things better, and the Democrats and Republicans are functionally interchangeable. They do this because one of the easiest ways for them to win is if the left gives up and stops trying. Every person on the left they can convince to give up in despair brings them closer to complete control. Defeatism on the left actively supports victory on the right.
I think your statement is wrong on a number of levels, both factual and emotional. It comes from not understanding what the actual options are for the US government and the President specifically, either at home or abroad. And it will allow actual fascism to flourish and make the world far worse than it is now.
On an emotional level, the way to address this is to stop doomscrolling. Stop focusing on the worst things happening in the world. Don't ignore them! but don't let them consume you. Start looking for the things that are going well. Find places in your community that you can get involved in making things better. Even if it's only on a small scale like volunteering in a soup kitchen or homeless shelter, it will help you realize that you aren't helpless, that there are things that can be done to make the world a better place. Stay informed about things on a local, national, and international level, but limit how much time and attention you give to things that depress you that you can't affect. Instead of sitting there thinking about all the ways the world sucks and how awful things are, look for things you can do that are productive, and then do them. You'll feel better and you will have made your corner of the world a little better. And you will be a lot less likely to unintentionally fall into the despair, nihilism, and passivity that the fascists want you to be consumed by.
Always remember that the worlds problems are not resting solely on your shoulders, or solely on America's shoulders, and neither is the hope of fixing them. Everyone has things that we can do to make the world a better place, but there are also things that are beyond our control. We can control what we do; we cannot control what others do. We can and should try to make the world a better place, but focusing on the things we can't change has no positive benefits. Focusing on things we can't change accomplishes two things: it makes you feel bad, and it stops you from doing the things you actually can do to make things better. Neither of these things is good for you or anyone else. Look for things you can do and do them. Keep informed on the things you can't change, but don't focus on them.
On a factual level, let's look at "aiding and abetting genocide," shall we?
First, it's important to remember that the US President is not the God-Emperor Of The World. The US government has limits to what it can and can't do in other countries, and both legally and practically. If the US wants to intervene in a problem in another country, there are a variety of things we can do that boil down to basically four categories. It's a lot more complex than this in practice, of course, but in general here are the categories of things we can do:
Send in the troops. Invade, either by ourselves or as part of a NATO or UN operation. (Or maybe just send in a CIA wetworks team to assassinate the head of state.) I hope you can see the moral problems with this option, and also, we've done this a shitton of times over the course of the 20th Century and pretty much every time we've done it, we've made an already awful situation worse. On a moral level, it's pretty bad, and on a practical level, it's worse. Sure, we could stop the immediate problem, but what then? Consider Afghanistan and Iraq. We got rid of Saddam Hussein and the Taliban, and everything went to shit, we spent twenty years occupying Afghanistan with pretty much nothing to show for it. (The Taliban is back in control of Afghanistan.) Things were worse when we left than when we arrived. So this option is pretty much off the table (or should be).
Diplomatic pressure. Now, the thing is, they're a sovereign nation, they don't have to listen to us if they don't want to. We have a lot of things we can leverage--including financial aid--but the only way to force them to do what we want is to invade and conquer, and that only works temporarily. Since we can't force, we have to persuade. This requires us to maintain our existing relationship with the country in question, and possibly strengthen it, because that relationship is what we're leveraging to try and influence them to do what we want them to do. If we do not maintain our relationship, they have no reason to listen to us.
Cut ties and go home. Break off any existing relationship and support, loudly proclaim that they're awful and doing awful things and we wash our hands of the whole situation. This keeps our own hands lily-white and pure, but it also means we have zero leverage to work on any kind of a diplomatic solution. They have no reason to listen to us or care about what we think. We can pat ourselves on the back for doing the right thing, but we destroy our own ability to influence anything. Not just now, but also in the future. Let's say the current crisis ends, and then ten years later there's another crisis. If we want to have any effect then, we would have to start from square one to start building a relationship. Cutting ties would be great for making Americans feel better about ourselves, and there are times when it's the only option, but it should be a last resort. If there is any hope of being able to influence things for the better this will destroy it at least temporarily.
Cut ties and impose sanctions. Break off any existing relationship and support, loudly proclaim that they're awful and doing awful things, but also use the might of the American economy to isolate and punish them. We've done this a lot over the 20th Century, too, and it has never actually resulted in the country in question buckling down and toeing the line we want them to. What happens is the sanctioned country has an economic shock (how long it lasts and how bad it gets depends on a lot of factors) and then pulls themselves back together economically, except this time they're more self-sufficient and less reliant on international trade and financial networks. They tell themselves that America is evil and the cause of all their problems, and so not only do they not listen to us, they actively hate us. And they have fewer international relationships, so fewer reasons to care about what the international community thinks about them. So they're most likely to double down on whatever it is they're doing that we don't like. This one is completely counterproductive and utterly stupid. It's great for making Americans feel better about ourselves, but if we actually care about being able to use our influence for good (or, at least, to mitigate evil) this option shoots us in the foot. It encourages other nations to do the very thing we're trying to stop them from doing.
So, with those four options in mind, both option one (invasion/assassination) and option four (sanctions) are off the table for being immoral and counterproductive. That leaves "breaking our relationship and going home" and "using diplomatic pressure" as our only two viable options.
Biden has chosen option two, diplomatic pressure. Yes, he and our government have continued financial support for Israel ... but with strings attached. They have put limits on it that have never been put on any US foreign aid before. They have taken legal steps to lay the groundwork to target Israeli settlers (i.e. Israeli citizens who confiscate Palestinian homes and businesses). We've been hearing reports for months that Benjamin Netanyahu (Israeli Prime Minister, and a far-right-wing demagogue) hates Biden's guts, because Biden is pressuring him to stop the genocide and work towards peace. Biden is maintaining the relationship, and he's using that relationship to try and influence things to curb the violence and pave the way for a just peace settlement of some sort. Biden has also mentioned the possibility of a two state solution where Palestine becomes its own completely separate country. That's huge, because up until this point the US position has always been that Israel is the only possible legitimate nation in that territory. If Biden stopped US support for Israel, it wouldn't force Israel to stop what it's doing ... but it would let them ignore us. It would remove any leverage or influence we might have.
Biden's hands aren't clean. But the only way for them to be clean would be to also give up any chance of influencing the situation or working to protect Palestinians now or in the future. Only time will tell if it works, but I personally would rather have someone who tried and failed than someone who didn't even try. You might disagree about whether this is the right course of action, and there's a lot of room for honest disagreement about the issue (there's a lot of nuances that I'm glossing over or ignoring). But please do acknowledge that Biden isn't supporting Israel because he supports genocide; he's doing it so that he can continue to maintain diplomatic pressure on Israel to stop the violence.
Which brings us back to "aiding and abetting genocide." Trump is not like Biden. Trump is good friends with Netanyahu and backs Israel to the hilt. Trump thinks that all Arabs are terrorists (and all Muslims are terrorists) and genuinely believes the world would be a better place with them dead. Biden is continuing to support Israel, but using that support as influence to get them to stop or slow down. Trump would be using that influence to encourage them.
And those are the two choices. Someone who is trying to curb the genocide, and someone who actively supports it.
I really hope you can see the significant and substantial difference between those two positions.
But let's say that you're right and Biden's policy towards Israel and Palestine is every bit as bad as Trump's would be. If there was nothing to choose between them on foreign policy grounds, there would still be a shitton to choose between them on domestic policy grounds. You admit that the right wants to kill your friends, and yet you don't seem to think that stopping them from killing your friends might be a good thing to do.
"We can't save Palestinians, so we might as well let Republicans destroy the rights, lives, and futures of LGBTQ+ people, women, people of color, people with disabilities, poor people, non-Christians, and anyone else they don't like." "We can't save Palestinians, so why bother to try to save the people we might actually be able to save." "We can't save Palestinians right now, so there's no point in trying to build up a longer-term political bloc that might drag US politics to the left over the long run."
Do you get why there's a problem with that line of thought?

Do you guys remember how kidnap fantasies were popular on wattpad because young girls and queer teens were both made to feel shame at the thought of their own sexualities, so the fantasy of being kidnapped totally against their will was a way for them to engage with a romantic or sexual fantasy without feeling morally in the wrong for doing so? Added bonus that the fantasy involved being whisked away from repressive environments like home or school, right?
Finding out that Bram Stoker was in a sexless marriage and that scholars believe that he very likely was closeted gay puts the entire book into perspective as to WHY it reads EXACTLY like a self insert wattpad Dracula kidnap fic:
“I TOTALLY love my wife and would never do anything that an upstanding Good Straight Working Man wouldn’t do but oh nooo, big strong man with broad back and strong enough arms to carry me back to bed like a princess trapped me and claimed me as his, completely against my will 👉👈 But he protects me against the bad evil sexual women (who I assure you, I am TOTALLY sexually attracted to, as any straight man with a choice would be) but trust me, I do NOT want ANY of this. What’s that? The Count is not capable of feeling love? Would be a shame if I had the special ability to change tha-”

taylor swift’s work wouldn’t be nearly as insufferable if she wasn’t constantly trying to present herself as some sort of tortured underdog. like, okay, she has endured hardships, and a lot of people, especially white men, are shitty towards her for purely misogynistic reasons. that sucks, i agree. but she’s never been an underdog before. she was born to well-off parents who did everything they could to start her music career when she was barely even a teenager, an opportunity that lots of people would kill for. now she’s extremely famous and wealthy, and everything she releases is destined to sell millions of copies and receive glowing reviews in nearly every publication. she is not an underdog, and i have trouble believing she’s particularly “tortured.” she’s not even an alcoholic, despite claiming to be one on the opening track of her new album! people like to defend her lyrics by saying she’s just playing a character, which i don’t believe for a second, but even if she was, i don’t think i want to listen to someone like swift play the character of a tortured underdog, not when there’s so many musicians out there who are actually tortured underdogs. it comes across as hollow. “you wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me,” sung by one of the wealthiest, most famous, most critically acclaimed musicians in the world, who was born to loving parents who personally helped her start her career, who once said she’d never been to therapy because she “just feels very sane.” if you’re going to play a character, maybe pick one who we’re not supposed to pity.

A couple job interview hacks from someone who has to give a job interview every single goddamn day: (disclaimer: this goes for my process and my company’s process, other companies and industries might be different)
1. There are a few things I check and a few questions I ask literally just to figure out if you can play the game and get along with others in a professional setting. Part of the job I interview for is talking to people, and we work in teams. So if you can’t “play the game” a tiny bit, it’s not going to work. Playing the game includes:
- Why do you want to work here? (just prove that you googled the company, tell me like 1 thing about us, I just want to know that you did SOME kind of preparation for this interview)
- Are you wearing professional clothing? I don’t need a suit just don’t show up in a ratty t-shirt and sweatpants.
- Are you able to speak respectfully and without dropping f-bombs all the time? Not because I’m offended but because I don’t want to be reported to HR if you wind up on my team.
- Can you follow simple directions in an interview?
2. Stop telling me protected information. I don’t want to know about what drugs or medications you’re on, I don’t want to know about you being sick, I don’t want to know if you’re planning to have children soon, I don’t want to know anything about your personal life other than “can you do the job?”
3. When we ask, “What questions do you have for me?” here are my favorites I’ve heard: - What does the day-to-day look like for a member of your team?
- If one of your team members was not performing up to his usual standard, what steps would you take to correct that?
- What can I start doing now to accelerate my learning process in this job?
- What are some reservations you have about me as a candidate? (be ready for this emotionally….it will REALLY help you in the future, and I’ve had people save themselves from a No after this, but can be hard to hear)
- In your opinion, what skills and qualities does the ideal candidate for this job possess?
- What advice would you give to a new hire in this position/someone who wanted to break into this industry, as someone who has worked here for a while?
Those are just my tips off-the-cuff. I work in sales in marketing/SAAS, so these can be very different depending on the industry, but I wish the people I interview could read this before they show up.

Somewhere out there is an essay about superhero movies where villains co-opt, misuse, or even just misunderstand the language of the left to push methods and goals that are incompatible with the actual theory of the left, but that sound Right And Good to viewers who aren't thinking it through entirely. And the essay is not just about how they compare to each other, but how they are a litmus test for viewers to know how susceptible they are to propaganda.
Co-opt: Most obvious example and the inspiration for this post is the Riddler in Batman (2020, the one with RPatt). The Riddler recites leftist rhetoric about corruption, wealth hoarding, and redistribution, but his actual actions and goals are unrelated. He's an accelerationist who's more interested in tearing down a system that didn't benefit HIM than in actually rectifying the problems, and who cares if a few kids get traumatized or even killed along the way?
Misuse: Easy mode, this one's Thanos. He talks about ensuring there's enough for everyone to eat, but like. Bro.
Misunderstand: Erik Killmonger, who has the benefit of both some incredibly legitimate grievances and a pretty face, but also kind of fails at the idea of intersectionality, proportionality, or Start With Words Before You Escalate. He's the easiest to sympathize with, because he has some really good points and ultimately does appear to be legitimately pursuing those goals... but he's also a misogynist, jumped to international terrorism before "call up my cousin who doesn't know I exist," and there's something in there about the role played by his time in the US military, which gave him emotional trauma, head trauma, and a sincere belief in the validity of US-style insurgency operations based on hostile takeovers of inconvenient countries. He's charming and pretty and sincere... he's just also, in many ways, wrong. And the parts where he's right makes it easy to try to ignore the bits where he's wrong if you're predisposed to like him and prefer some absolutism.
Anyway, yeah, there are definitely other examples, but the ones that were suggested to me didn't quite vibe with the base idea (Mysterio and Vulture both had disgruntled union moments in the MCU, but they left those roots so quickly that I don't think the concept of using leftist rhetoric as cover/justification for the crimes really applies since, they very quickly shift gears into revenge and greed respectively).
Someone's probably done this better orz.

one big thing i think people outside fandom (like, all fandoms, fandom in general, not any particular one) tend to misunderstand is they know it's a subculture of people who are weirdly deeply invested in fictional media, and they hear about drama caused by people in those subcultures being unhinged in not-fun ways, and they think the unhingedness comes from the fact of being overinvested in works of fiction.
which is a natural assumption, but in my experience that's not really the case? like in my experience the drama llamas in fandom are usually not the ones who are just genuinely very deeply into the fiction. i've known people who are basically thinking about star trek or x-men comics or supernatural pretty much 100% of their free time and ime that type of person is usually very nice and surprisingly functional in their regular life. when someone's a constant nexus of fandom drama it's usually not that they are obsessed with the actual work of fiction the fandom is about, it's at least one of the following:
what they're obsessed with is not the source material but their unhealthy parasocial relationships with one or more of the people who created it
what they're obsessed with is not the source material but some elaborate shared-universe subset of fanfic about it that's only barely related to the original at this point, and/or an esoteric reading-against-the-text reinterpretation of the source material (often if the canon is active and ongoing this leads to becoming actively hostile toward it for its inevitably increasing failure to conform to their preferred fanon)
what they're obsessed with is not the source material but the fandom itself and gathering clout within it, so that the source material basically only exists to them as a tool for scoring points in increasingly arcane fandom disputes
and very often you get the same person doing 2 and sometimes even all 3 of these, and that's where the trouble really starts

Maybe this is the wrong platform to pose this question given the average tumblr user but
Is it just me or did our generation (those of is who are currently 20-30 ish) just not get the opportunity to be young in the 'standard' sense?
Like, everyone I talk to who's over 40 has all their wild stories about their teens and 20s, being young and dumb, and then I talk to my friends and coworkers and classmates, and we just... dont.

IMPORTANT REMINDER TO MY EUROPEAN FOLLOWERS AND OTHER TUMBLR DENIZENS FROM AN AMERICAN DESERT-DWELLER:
Climate change is a bitch and summer is coming. If you don’t already have an air conditioner and/or fans, NOW is the time to get them.
THINGS YOU SHOULD BE SHOPPING FOR NOW:
—clothes made of cotton or linen
—air conditioner
—fans
—frozen meals that can be cooked in the microwave
—potable bottled water; you want five days’ worth per person and pet in your household
—bottled fruit juices; it does not matter if these are sugar-added because you’ll want the electrolytes
—electrolyte drinks
—electrolyte pills (you can get these online, I get mine from Amazon)
—popsicle molds to use with fruit and juice
—ice cube trays
—nonperishable salty snacks like peanuts
—one charger brick per adult in case of rolling blackouts or power outages; charge these at the beginning of May, and drain them via use once a month if they’re not needed
YOUR TO-DO LIST:
—check your home’s HVAC system if you didn’t do it at the beginning of winter. Make sure all the filters are clean and replace them if needed
—check the seals on your sinks and bathtub in case you have to run water to handle shortages
—make and freeze meals you can cook in the microwave or simply defrost. Remember to select light summer fare, not hearty winter soups and gravies
—purchase and freeze lunch meats and cheeses you can defrost and use this summer for sandwiches when it’s hot
—assemble your check-in list: elderly, pregnant, disabled, and immunocompromised friends and relatives who may struggle to get things they need when the heat wave hits. Have this list posted and ready to go through daily once the heat gets high. DON’T JUST ASSUME YOU WILL REMEMBER. WRITE IT ALL DOWN.
—create a list of emergency contacts in case of fire, heat stroke, and other heat-related emergencies. This should include your local version of 911 (I think in most of Europe it’s 112, but don’t rely on me as an American, LOOK IT UP NOW before you need it), your doctor’s phone number, and two emergency contacts. Keep it in a place where it can be easily found if someone needs to make these calls on your behalf.
—ask your doctor for an additional prescription for any medications you take, and fill it now. Extreme heat can cause disruptions in the supply chain. Make sure you cycle these meds; that’s to say, always use your oldest bottle first so you don’t end up with expired meds in an emergency.
—stock your first-aid kit. If you don’t have one, now is a good time to make one.
—if you own a car, get your yearly maintenance done now. You don’t want to be dealing with an inoperable vehicle if you need to evacuate.
Staying safe this summer starts now. Get your prep done.

People with low spoons, someone just recommended this cookbook to me, so I thought I’d pass it on.
I always look at cookbooks for people who have no energy/time to do elaborate meal preparations, and roll my eyes. Like, you want me to stay on my feet for long enough to prepare 15 different ingredients from scratch, and use 5 different pots and pans, when I have chronic fatigue and no dishwasher?
These people seem to get it, though. It’s very simple in places. It’s basically the cookbook for people who think, ‘I’m really bored of those same five low-spoons meals I eat, but I can’t think of anything else to cook that won’t exhaust me’. And it’s free!

Now that you've done DSO lore, do you think you could do the BSAA too? I've always found their deal a bit confusing.
TW// mentions of guns
As requested, here’s the “sequel” to my DSO lore post, this time for those curious about the BSAA. Strap in ‘cause this is going to be a long one… I might’ve gone a little overboard on the details:
History/How it was Formed:
BSAA stands for Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance
It was founded in 2003 following the collapse of Umbrella and the “War on Terror” (WoT is a real thing that happened after 9/11, and 9/11 canonically happened in RE)
When the BSAA was first started, it was civilian-led and there were only eleven members. They are called the Original Eleven after the Original Seven from  Project Mercury. Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine were all part of the Original Eleven. They had no real power at first and were only meant to be essentially supervisors for armies and police units around the world but that wasn’t working.
Originally the BSAA was a paramilitary group with private funding from the Global Pharmaceutical Consortium (GPC) as part of a PR stunt since the GPC was involved with Umbrella and therefore the Raccoon City Incident. After Umbrella was found guilty in court, a lot of their BOW and research was leaked onto the black market, which kickstarted the bioterrorism movement.
Before becoming part of the UN, the BSAA was led by Clive R. O'Brian, and by 2004, they had more than eleven members, but the actual number is unknown.
Both the BSAA and the GPC were caught up in a number of conspiracies, including the Terragrigia Panic, an event that led to the creation of the FBC in the US (go see the DSO post for more info on them).  **There’s a whole lot of info from this era of the BSAA. If you want more details on everything that happened with the Terragrigia Panic and all of that, check out the Revelations game.
When the FBC collapsed, the BSAA took a lot of assets from there including weapons.
In 2009, the UN (United Nations) believed in the BSAA’s movement and decided to create a new charter of the BSAA under the UN’s control was created. The UN did this in secret and covered it up since only 70% of the UN’s Member States agreed (80% of the Member States must agree with the notion before it’s passed under being the “general consensus").
In 2009, the GPC was still privately funding the BSAA, and this was apparently public knowledge and the BSAA being funded by the GPC wasn’t really a well-liked fact. While the BSAA’s dealings were confidential, they seemed to have a lot more connection to the public than things like the DSO due to the fact that 1. They’re not involved with the US and 2. They work internationally.
The whole private funding thing came to light in a UK hearing after the names of the BSAA investors were submitted to the public hearing.
The GPC basically functioned as the PR firm for the BSAA as well.
In 2017, the BSAA partnered with Blue Umbrella (a private military company formed with the remains of the American branch of Umbrella) and gained access to all kinds of special anti-BOW gear. An important note for the RE franchise is that there were no weapons developed to be able to fight BOWs. While things like zombies can be killed with headshots, other enemies require a hell of a lot more firepower than a simple firearm can deliver. As such, anti-BOW weapons and gear development were very important.
The BSAA had its fair share of PR incidences and kept a lot of their gear and weapons secret from the public, but in order to bolster “better reviews” so to speak, some of their anti-BOW weapons/gear were featured in a survival magazine to show the public that they did in fact have specially designed equipment.
Side note: the GPC and the FPC are the same thing, some of the files call it the FPC, and others, like the stuff from RE5, call it the GPC but they're meant to be the same thing.
Organization:
The BSAA HQ is stationed in England, the exact location is classified, but it’s said to be near an air force base or aircraft hub since the BSAA soldiers can be deployed globally within 12 hours.
When the UN took over, to better cover global threats, the BSAA was broken into eight different divisions that would each be in charge of different parts of the globe: Middle East (covered the Middle East and part of Africa), North America, South America, West Africa, East Africa, Far East  (Eastern Russia and countries east of India), and Oceania (Australia and Antarctica). The England HQ is responsible for Europe and the western parts of Russia.
Usually, soldiers are only deployed where there’s an incident within the jurisdiction of their branch, but soldiers with high security clearance are often pulled into cross-branch deployment. Chris is one of these soldiers since he is a Captain.
The BSAA has a lot of members, most of which were recruited from the military and special forces.
There are various divisions within the BSAA that provide things such as ground support (like the FOS for the DSO), tech support, medical teams, physicians, and mental health professionals.
There are two divisions for BSAA deployment teams: Special Operation Unit (SOU) and Special Operations Agents (SOA) **I’ll be calling the agents agents for simplicities sake.
The SOU squads usually contain 12 people, the 12 people are then broken up into 3, 4-man cells and are usually led by a Captain (This is where the NATO naming system comes in, the 4 cells are usually called Alpha Team, Bravo Team, Charlie Team, and Delta Team). Teams will combine with other teams depending on how many people are needed for an operation. It specifically mentions that for one special operation, there was 70 people working it.
In 2009, Dan DeChant was the leader of the Alpha Team during the Kijuju mission, he was killed in action.
The agents (SOAs) usually work solo operations or in teams of two. They mainly deal with espionage and investigations and are deployed in situations where the tactical teams can’t safely get to. (This is what Leon would be doing if he worked at the BSAA, the SOA’s are basically the UN’s DSO). They also often work outside the BSAA’s jurisdiction so they can “get the job done,” which often involves doing things out of uniform/undercover.
A lot of BSAA soldiers died in 2013 due to attacks in China, so the BSAA established a new elite squad called Silver Dagger that would investigate suspects of bioterrorism using an extra-legal intel-gathering software. Extra-legal basically means that while it wasn’t outright illegal, it definitely falls into the sort of “gray area” of legality and would probably be frowned upon.  D.C was the Captain of this squad, Chris, Damian, and Nadia were the other members.
The Original Eleven have special authorization and security clearances.
The BSAA has security clearance levels of 1-10, all SOUs are automatically a level 4 or higher. Chris has level 10, but I’m not sure about the rest. Chris’s is the only one that’s specifically mentioned but I would assume Jill is also a level 10 since she's one of the Original Eleven too.
Both Barry Burton and Rebecca Chambers serve as advisors to the BSAA. Rebecca is also an advisor to the DSO.
Notably, the DSO and the BSAA do not like each other. This is because the US gov has basically forbidden the BSAA from operating on US soil. This is why Leon and Chris meeting for the “first” time at the 2010 TerraSave event was such a big deal in the RE6 files because Chris and Leon being friends is seen as unprecedented due to them working for “competing” organizations.
If you just wanted information on the structure of the BSAA you can stop reading here. Those who want details about equipment and standard weapons, continue reading:
Standard Gear:
Pre-2017 the SOUs wore light gray combat fatigues, gloves, combat boots, and a green bulletproof vest. The shoulders of their shirts had their designated BSAA patch for which branch they were assigned to. Their helmets were gray ballistic helmets with their blood types marked on them with patches. They also wore ballistic goggles, black balaclavas, gas masks. Black beanies were also worn in cold enviroments. SOAs didn’t have a standard uniform.
In 2017 the uniforms were revamped and basically an all-black version of the previous uniforms with upgraded gear and other things such as more pouches and adjustments to the helmets so they would have the nightvision system designed by Bley Umbrella.
Sometime between then and 2021 the uniforms were upgraded again, still all black but they got blue patches now.
Weapons:
Unlike the DSO, the BSAA has standard-issue equipment for all it’s soldiers.
Pre-2005 the BSAA had a special scanner called the Genesis that would
In 2005 the standard weapons were the M92F, G8, Handgun Government, G36, and the M3.
In 2009 the standards were the SIG 556 and the Beretta 92FS
In 2012 the AR was the standard but a lot of the soldiers also used their own guns that they used such as Chris’s Nine-Oh-Nine and Piers’ MP-AF.
In 2017, SOUs were given special weapons from Blue Umbrella, this included the Samurai Edge Ambert 01 and 02 models.

TW: mentions of weapons and guns
With a lot of new people in the fandom and RE’s tendency to bury details in the lesser-known materials, I’m going to cover the inner workings and functions of the DSO as requested. Feel free to use this as a reference for fanfics and such.
There is a surprising number of bureaucratic things taking place in Resident Evil such as the arguments between the DSO and BSAA over US jurisdiction and the policies enacted after the government decided to bomb Raccoon City, but I’ll mainly be focusing on things that are relevant to the DSO/Leon. I’m going to format this as bullet points for readability and also ‘cause I’ve rewritten this post like 3 times now because I hated the formatting.
Most of this information comes from online documents created by Tokyo Marui which created several replica products of the RE weapons for Capcom. The “backstories” were supplemental materials were created to go alongside the release for RE6. The FBC info comes from Revelations. Buckle up, this is going to be a long one.
