April Update - Merch Designs and Last Call for Preorders!

Hi everyone! It's been a minute, huh? Sorry about that! After releasing Beloved Ghost I got to work on merch designs, but other things kept coming up, getting in the way, and well... If you've played the first game, seen the themes of this series, it should be no surprise that I do tend to give myself deadlines that get thwarted by my health. Even right now, I'm writing this update with a pounding headache...

Still, progress has been made! I'll be sharing the merch designs later in this update, along with a link to preorder individual pieces if you missed it during the active campaign. Besides the merch, I've been getting started on commissions- If you're expecting one, get excited! This along with the usual work on Entropic Float 2 itself, of course... And events! I amazingly got to meet a few fans of Entropic Float at Connecticut Gamer Con earlier this month, and if you'd like to join their ranks, I'm confirmed to be tabling at Holyoke Pride in June as well as both Springfield Comic Con and Connecticon in July! 

Now, on to the designs! These are the new merch items available in reward fulfillment, but it's not too late! If one of these items wasn't in your reward tier, or you couldn't afford it as an add-on at survey time, or you just didn't realize till now that you want it? Preorders are still open on my etsy shop until May 13th!

Let's go smallest to largest here- The key for the stickerpack! This will be included with the stickers, and the stickers will be included with every physical reward tier. If you'd like the stickers, but only bought a digital reward and don't plan to preorder anything else, just reach out to me~ Especially since I can ship them with STAMPS for CHEAP INTERNATIONAL if you're willing to FORGO A TRACKING NUMBER! Every stickerpack contains ALL of these characters~

Next up, the aluminum pin badges! These eight add to the eighteen already available which reference EF1 endings. Four for EF2's endings (hm, I wonder what these could mean?), one Beloved Ghost badge in the Mesteri Moas, one more EF1 badge with The ~LUMP~, and two additional EF2 badges with the Possum Pal and CROWNPRIMROSE campaign badge! These were offered with most physical reward tiers, but can also be preordered for just $3 each.

New acrylic keychains! These, likewise, are in addition to the existing four that have been available since the shop first opened. Shinjiro, JJ, Cobalt, and Renfield were all requested by specific backers at survey time! They're $8 each to preorder, if you're just now realizing you want them as well~

Acrylic standees! Little guys to stand on your shelf or your desk or wherever! 50mm circular base, 90mm tall, these secret fullbodies are always included by the wonderful Soyokaze when commissioning titlescreens~ It's $15 to preorder a small friend.

Last but certainly not least- Throw Pillow Plushies! 40cm in size, these are shaped pillows with the designs printed on them in a plush fabric. We're not quite big enough to go full-blown plushie, but these things are still super adorable! These were only included at the highest reward tiers, so if you'd like to get your hands on one of these, it's a $25 preorder!

This is really lovely, and I'd love to take the opportunity to talk a little more about these characters' aromantic identities!

Peri and Abel, I've gone into depth on them before- But the other two. Let's start with Jazz!

Jazz is greyromantic and pansexual- She's not the only aroallo character in Entropic Float, but the only one who's been out and featured onscreen so far. She'd never really had a 'romantic crush'. She likes to have fun and connect with people, but just hasn't been interested in that side of things at all. The sliver of grey is incredibly small- Mainly, just the number of people she feels any romantic attraction to is vanishingly small, especially compared to who she's sexually attracted to. It's not that she needs a strong bond first and it's not that she's completely uninterested- It's just a statistical improbability.

Maude, meanwhile, thinks of her quoiromantic identity in fairly practical terms. When you don't really experience a line between platonic feelings and romantic feelings, she reasons, it loops back around to simple logic. She feels similarly towards her friends, which lets her decide the best partner. These days, she can very firmly say her strongest feelings of any nature are towards CROWNPRIMROSE- So they're in a relationship, and she's gotten very used to managing her confusing feelings toward other friends.

Not pictured here but worth bringing up too is Mag- He's a loveless aroace. Highly capable and proud of that identity. Without emotional stake in other people, he's able to be impartial and see through to the truth of things- Frequently leading him to show kindness to people that have been overlooked by others. When you value every person on the same level, without feeling closeness, it's a lot easier to go against the grain and avoid buying into others' opinions. Respect, Honor, Duty, and Justice are all concepts that Mag prefers to Love.

Campaign Completed- Two Stretch Goals Met! Reward Surveys Soon!

What’s got Bea so shocked? Well, for now let’s say it’s the success of the Kickstarter Campaign! The additional title screens in this update don’t represent a use of KS funds yet though- We’re still in the pledge collection period, where Kickstarter takes two weeks to make sure every pledge is valid, collecting funds, and taking fees. After time’s up, you can expect to see surveys coming from Backerkit, where you’ll also be able to add standalone items that weren’t included in your pledge. For example, a full-body acrylic standee of that Bea!

Besides the surveys, once funds are collected, I’ll also be posting in a designated channel of the discord server if you want to follow along with accountability! I’ll start things off with a post of the exact number deposited in my bank account, then share the exact amounts and subject each time I spend KS funds.

Since we hit two stretch goals, the original budget is in a little bit of flux- If my estimates are correct, we should have a little bit extra after the original designations of funds, adjusted taxes, and the costs of fulfilling the stretch goals, but the costs are still just estimates so I’m not going to commit the spare funds to any specific purpose just yet. Could be more voice acting, could be more art- I tried to estimate high on expenses rather than low, but you never know for sure. That’s a great thing to follow along on discord for!

As stated in the roadmap, I plan to release the Beloved Ghost DLC in February 2024. For this reason the surveys lock on February 1st. I need time to apply your votes for character designs! Digital rewards outside of download keys and physical rewards alike can be expected around May of 2024. Then, it’s just development of Entropic Float 2 until it’s ready~

Hey, it's the final stretch!! Check out some of the talksprites I've been hard at work drawing over the past month- There are 48 hours left in the Entropic Float 2 Kickstarter where YOU TOO can get involved in all kinds of fun things! A download key to a soon-to-be-released DLC joins the download key for Entropic Float 2, available on its own at the $5 tier and together at the $15 tier- A $20 value compared to the planned retail for both separately! These two tiers also get you votes on two different character designs! If you can't afford any reward tier, but you can toss me a dollar? You're still supporting a trans and disabled gamedev, so that's winning too!

If you can swing it a little higher, rewards abound- Commissions at discounts from my usual rates (I could rush it through if you want one as a holiday gift for somebody~), physical merch, and even options for your OC to join the world of Entropic Float, from a simple cameo up to integration as a significant character (following a long discussion to determine where they best fit into the narrative of course~).

Here in these last two days, we're just $271 USD short of our second stretch goal- Creating an actual song for in-universe band Renfield Future! Being able to do this would have many benefits- Bringing the band and the main character from it to life, giving us an option to use in trailers without going through the headache of licensing existing songs, and further supporting one of our amazing voice actors~

I should also note, for the tumblr crew specifically: Midway through running this Kickstarter, I very suddenly lost my day job. I'll be okay, I'll manage- But making a game is expensive, and the more I get on the Kickstarter, the more of my own money gets to stay dedicated to bills and groceries. My two main expenses outside of living ones are game development and stocking my etsy shop (As it takes at least 2 years for most small/indie businesses to start turning any kind of profit). Since every dollar to the Kickstarter is a dollar I get to hold onto for my rent, I'm going to go out on a limb and say supporting it constitutes mutual aid for this transgender bunny boy who's too disabled to work more than part-time out of the house and too autistic to hold down the part-time jobs it gets.

Entropic Float may not be magical girl media... But that won't stop me from doodling Syoko from Entropic Float 2 as a meguca! And personally, as a huge fan of magical girls, even when I'm not writing them... I'm pretty heavily influenced by them. So if you like them, you might like this game series too! Faustian bargains for magic and pretty dresses abound. The first game is free to play, so you can find out if I'm right about your enjoyment before you support us- But be quick!
