Sky‘s Dorm Room & Apartment

[Dorm Room]

Sky always had her own room. Her room only holds a bed, her desk and some music instruments and recording equipment. It is usually dark in her room since she only has one small window that she has covered with curtains. It isn’t rare that she disappears into her room after an overwhelming day or when feeling a sensory overload. Even members go to her room to calm down or use the room as an escape. It is just a dark and quiet place to settle and take deep breaths in.

{Apartment}

Since 2020 Sky owns a small apartment in Seoul. It is in a small building in a quiet area. The apartment is quite spacious and houses her four cats. It’s mostly in dark colors like black or dark woods and has a small studio for producing and recording. It is still close to the company building and the dorm but just a lot more private for Sky. She loves the members, but she yearned for her own place. However, the members come by so often that it feels more like the dorm than the dorm itself.

Jumi (Gem)

Jumi is Sky’s first pet. She is born 2015 and ended up in the animal shelter in 2017 when her owner moved away. In late 2017 Sky saw her in a article and decided to adopt her. Jumi moved into NCT 127 dorm, before moving into Sky's apartment in 2020. By 2023 she is 8 years old and a calm grandma that loves to sleep.

Orion

Orion is Sky’s second cat and was adopted in 2018. Sky found him on the streets and decided to take him in. She brought him to a vet and got all the papers done before actually introducing him to Jumi. He was a very tiny kitten and had to be hand fed for a long time. But eventually he grew into a healthy cat with a playful and cuddly personality. He is 5 years old by 2023.

Juhee (Joyful)

Juhee is Sky’s third cat and was adopted out of a shelter in 2021. She had ended up in a shelter because her owner had falsely expected his dog to get along with her. After a near biting incident, she was put into the shelter, where Sky found her and adopted her. She is a calm natured cat and loves to lounge around. By 2023 she is 4 years old.

Maeum (Heart and mind)

Maeum is Sky’s fourth and latest Kitten. He was born March 2023 and is a curious but shy cat. Sky adopted him in August 2023 after he and his siblings were confiscated from an illegal cat transport. He is incredibly playful, and he loves to explore everything. His looks have gotten him a couple of nicknames such as ‘Gom’ (bear) or ‘Somee’ (Cotton ball) from Sky and the fans.

Sky got three little dragons underneath her left ear. She said they stand for her sisters. She got this tattoo in late 2018.

[Phone, Case & Earphones]

Sky owns an iPhone 11 in a dark blue with black Airpods and headphones. She always carries at least one of the earphones. Sometimes her anxiety gets the better of her and she just needs to log out. The headphones were a present from Taeyong, after he found out about her anxiety. He always worries. But she is thankful that he does.

Her phone case is clear with a white box that reads: ‘If you can read this, you’re too close.’ Jaehyun gave it to her. ‘Anxiety protection’ is what he called it. She also has two polaroids in her phone case. One shows the group without Winwin because he sadly had schedule with WayV. That’s why the second one shows Winwin alone with his signature.

[Parents – Park (Choi) Young-mi & Park Kyung-soon]

Sky’s mom Choi Youngmi was born in 1970 in Seoul, South Korea. This is also where she and her older brother grew up and went to school. In 10th grade she met an exchange student named Park Kyungsoon.

Sky’s mother Park Kyungsoon was also born in 1970 but her hometown is Chicago, Illinois. She grew up with her American-korean father and mother and her two younger brothers. In 1985 she decided to do an exchange year in her parents’ home country.

Upon meeting each other in school the two started seeing each other in secret. South Korea isn’t known to be the most supportive country for homosexual couples and both of them were very aware of this.

After Kyungsoon’s exchange year ended she went back to the US. From then on the two had a long distance relationship and only fell in love more. It took another 3 years until the two would see each other face to face again. Youngmi had graduated from high school and decided to study english and chinese in Chicago.

The two were over the moon to finally meet again and went on many dates. While Youngmi went into the language direction for her studies, Kyungsoon started her studies in physics. And while the two got busy studying they never lost sight of each other. They even moved into the same dorm room together to be closer to each other.

It didn’t take much longer for them to officially come out to their parents and after finishing their studies they moved into an apartment together. Youngmi started working as an author while Kyungsoon got work as a research scientist. Soon the money started flowing in and the two were able to buy a small house for themselves. 1993 they decided to have a biological baby through ‘In vitro fertilization’.

Youngmi got pregnant and gave birth to their first baby girl named Sanghee. Only a year later they had another child, Sora. After their first two daughters the two focused on raising them and continuing their careers. They married in 1996 and two years later they had another daughter, Seohyun. Their last daughter, Soomin, was born in 2002.

Their daughters followed their interests and dreams while Kyungsoon and Youngmi would continue in their respective careers and stayed together till this day.

Sky’s sister Sanghee was born in 1993 and is the oldest of the four. She would go on to become a nurse in America while simultaneously falling in love with a man in 2012. They married in 2018 and in 2023 their first baby is on the way.

Seohyun is Sky’s younger sister by four years. She is born in 1998 and is following in her mother’s footsteps in science. She studied biology and is now also a research scientist. She got together with a boy in 2014 and got pregnant by him in 2016. They married the same year, and she gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Insu. They sadly divorced only two years later in 2018.

Sky’s youngest sister is eight years younger than her and is born in 2002. She is currently studying japanese and chinese to become a teacher. Sky gets along with all her sisters and has never lost contact with them.

The moon, whose light is never blinding but can be guiding. Sky is a night owl, living and working through many nights. She likes the silence that comes when the night settles in. Her anxiously beating heart finally slows down. All fear of social interactions get thrown out the window. She goes for long walks through the city, breathing the dirty air but still feeling free. Sky is the quiet friend. The girl that doesn't say much but when she does it has impact. The girl at the back of the class. Too smart for her own good.
