Ngl I'm really confused at everyone's reactions to Zuko being artsy in NATLA.... I mean he's a royal. That is a common thing they were taught spanning across many many cultures. So for people to act like it's silly... Like do y'all not know history???
Am I to assume that throughout this fandom's existence no fan thought of that as a trait for him?

Can I just say how much I love Maki and Chizu's friendship??? Like I know Haruta and Chizu are childhood friends but I feel like they could be besties lol like if Haruta and Maki broke up??? She'd go with Maki 😂😂
Idk something about it just warms my heart... Maybe bcz it makes the characters feel more real???

Ok so, y'all the fact that Choko's life expanding did Not revolve around her relationship with Maro????? Just ahh chef's kiss!!! This woman became a stan, traveled, and opened her own archery studio and That is what defines her!
And you know what? If Maro had her say that he would've been like hell yeah that's my woman lol
I know whoever wrote that dialogue knew that would mean a lot to so many people and ahh just makes me love this show soo much more 💖

I just love how many nontraditional relationships exist in this show but they're not treated as oddities within it!! They just are. Choko and Maro's age gap is not a joke. Like omg at this point I would've loved a whole side series with how their relationship developed!!! Haruta's mom having a boyfriend is also normal. He's not weird about it and really just wants her to be happy and safe! Chizu is a single mother and isn't looked down on. Takegawa's journey looks like it'll also be taken seriously.
I just love how they focus on how although some of these relationships aren't traditional they still face similar obstacles to everyone else.

Ok so wow I am legitimately surprised about how much I am loving this show!!!
I remember liking season 1 ok because even with all its faults it really had a lot of heart. Like when it wanted to be serious it really pulled it off and just kept me glued!! I still am so enamored at how they handled the chiefs and Choko's separation. It was so kind to them and their relationship! Maki being a gay man with an actual past love life!! We still barely get that in so many bls... Ahh the more I write the more I think it's funny that I just thought it was 'fine' lmao
But this season omg it's just genuinely so great so far! Is it still zany??? For sure! But it's toned down I think. The writers definitely wanted to focus more on the human dynamics than just being funny.... Ahh I am so glad this was done and ahh I would just love to sit with the writers and ask soo many questions lol

sigh Japan is really out here just Japaning ISTG this country just loves to get in it's own way!!
For those who are blaming GMMTV, let me tell you, as a fan of Jmedia I'm pretty confident that this is definitely Japans fault lol The country is run by old people who prop up equally as antiquated copyright/distribution laws. Seriously some are either too scared to try and modernize while others feel like they make enough profit and are therefore not interested in spreading their media further. Like for as popular as anime is it is in spite of its country because not until very recently has it actually finally become easy to access. This is why I was supperrr excited about Cherry Magic! I partly saw this as a sign that Japan was finally moving forward but also partly just happy that JBL really was just in this special space where it could get away with more than other media. Unfortunately I ended up being wrong on both fronts lol it's so sad too because there are many creators, like Yuu Toyota, that also want their work to be distributed internationally! So while one could be mad at GMMTV for not getting everything right on their end….Like how do you as the Owner of this "property" not know that this is who you're selling to? How did you not know this is how they distribute their media? How do you not find out until after 2 weeks after the show airs?!!! Are you so out of touch you couldn't google this company and see that most everything they have is on Youtube? Specifically BL?? The thing you are selling them?!!!
Whatever people's feelings about the company you could tell it was really really trying with this show. While Korea is definitely having a moment right now, Japan is still seen in high regard by many Asian countries and here they are acknowledging a Thai media company enough to share so many IPs. I admit I'm a fangirl, but I knew they did not want to fuck it up when they gave it to TayNew and not younger actors. While I'm sure to a lot of people see the way it was filmed to be like a sort of "homage" of the show, and it might have been, I saw it as like a show of respect to Jdramas in general. I mean I love Cherry Magic jp but the way it was directed wasn't really revolutionary as far as Jmedia goes. The company in the show has such good relations with it's Japanese branch, a good amount of people know some Japanese, the boss is presented very favorably etc etc…. Hopefully things work out because it's clear they had a lot riding on this shows success

ngl I love the role reversal of the Top coded character falling sick instead of the bottom coded one. More shows should do this~

Like ahh the teenage angst of this show!!! It's so something that when looking back if this had happened to me I'd be so like "wow I was so scared of that!! hehe It felt like the world was ending, like nothing else mattered." Because really some shows I'm like wow wouldn't that have been exciting/funny/silly if that actually happened when I was a teenager. But this… it just feels so real lol Maybe because I'm definitely like Yamamoto? ahhh noo

Soo this show kind of has an 'old school bl' vibe to me. Like 2000's ish. Where usually the one being pursued would be having an existential crisis that his GUY best friend was in love with him. And you know what? when I first read the manga that's the exact vibe I got from it. That's probably why I wasn't to drawn to it. That said the show is amazing at showing that that's not really the point! This is, I would say, a deconstruction of that trope. I've reread some chapters of the manga and I see it a whole lot clearer what it was trying to get across. The focus is not about the fact that Yamato fell in love with his GUY friend and that's Weird…but rather that he fell in love with his best friend and he's afraid of what it will do with their relationship. I'm sure some of it has to do with the fact that they're both guys, if Kakeru had been a girl maybe he wouldn't have such a hard time expressing his love buttt Idk I feel like Yamato is the type that would definitely be the same even if Kakeru had been a girl. It's just…even the title…I can't reach you, my feelings can't reach you. Like Yamato has already made this decision for Kakeru and it's so sad that he's already decided that Kakeru will reject him and that this rejection will end what they have. Like ughhh yes that is just so relatable. I'm sure to many queer people, but I knew a few heteros who had this same issue lol It's just sooo Teen. Experiencing new feelings that scare you so you think they'll scare the person they're aimed at!

Loook ok Is this even a top Jbl for me? No. Have I thought of this show recently? lmao no. But I will happilyyyy inject it into my veins.
I wonder if this is the Latin in me talking, but remakes are.. they just are!!! Leti La Fea, Rubi, Rebelde... and not just TV shows but music too. I'm sure it's the same for Asia but it's just how we go ooh We liked this :3 And I don't know, it's just fun to see what these countries really like from each other. Like what they admire from the other and how they're gonna put their twist on it.

So I think episode 8 has been one of the better episodes. Feels like the plot is really moving along again. I still want to know what the dads deal is. I figured that at one point he was abusive? Like right after his wife died…maybe blaming Kang for her death? That said I feel like Kangs reaction was a bit ambiguous as in I couldn't tell if this was him being hit for the first time ever orrrr the first time in a while. I like that though keeps the mystery open. My other thought is that instead of being abusive due to his resentment, Kangs father just became absent. He plays the role of what a good father might be but he doesn't do anything that would involve a deep connection with his son because deep down he's angry it was his wife that died and not the kid? Idk though just thinking out loud That said OMG such a great performance from Perth this episode! Seriously when he was tearing up with Sailom? His fight with his dad? Hands shaking? Ahh I hope Perth really does choose to make acting a long career because he's just soo good.

You know what I really hope Saifah does not become a villain in this show. Like this show already shows what it thinks of workers like him and it already makes my blood boil enough, so to just make him end up being a bad guy would just ughhh be so disheartening. Like this man is a caretaker doing a very labor intensive job that I'm sure is also high skilled and still he doesn't make enough to live comfortably. He has to rely on using his wits to garner sympathy from his patients in order to be able to get some of his necessities. Now instead of showing us how fucked up the system is that he has to resort to these tactics in order to survive…he's just painted as an inherently sleazy guy like come on!!! Even making him atone for his sins in front of grandma. That made me so angry! Like we've been told there have been times his patients haven't paid him his wages on time and he's the problem? So he has a patient right now that he doesn't have to worry about paying him, but let's say he got fired and had to take care of someone else? He's just expected to what? be ok if that new patient couldn't pay him? Get beaten up or see his brother get hurt too? Oh I forgot if you're a good poor things just automatically become better blehh
