There is something so satisfying about Mr Wormwood saying the line "good hair means a good brain" as he reveals his green hair

Okay we blocked a couple scenes today and I gotta say... I actually adore the people I'm working with
My Mr Wormwood is an ICON and we work really well, and one of my best friends is playing Matilda so it's just really fun and we all have a really good dynamic

I have come to terms with my role. Still not overly happy but the girls playing Miss Honey are SO TALENTED and they'll be incredible so. I can accept it
So I did not get Miss Honey. I am trying to be positive even though they double cast so I had twice the chance
I got Mrs Wormwood but we might not be allowed to do Loud so. That's fun

Story Time
So I'm in a play and we rehearse and perform outside (because covid) so I usually have my hair tied back. I never really thought anything of it, and I mostly have it in a high ponytail because that's what my character wears
But yesterday, the day of the first performance, we'd been rehearsing all day and my hair was a mess so while we were sat around on break about an hour before the audiance started showing up, I took my hair down with the intention of putting it up again later so it'd actually be neat for the play
But as I did, one of the guys just went "wow..." and turns out he'd never seen me with my hair down and just thought I looked really pretty and I can't stop thinking about it like it was so sweet and lovely
Moral of the story: say the nice things you think, even if you don't know someone that well. It might just make their day

I was rehearsing for a play the other day and I saw a mouse!! She was in the wings (it's an outdoor stage) and I love her

So we blocked Mama I'm A Big Girl Now today so the song is obvs in my head
And I was just, absent-mindedly singing Amber's part because she's my fave kid character. But I uh. Mixed up the words a little and made myself laugh so here:
Once upon a time I used to play with boys~
But now I'd rather play around with teenage toys~
So yeah. Safe to say I'm glad I'm not playing Amber because my cast would mock me MERCILESSLY for this error

So, new show started today lads. It's Hairspray which, I have to admit, I wasn't initially sold on. HOWEVER I decided to do it and I'm SO GLAD because I am immediately getting into the soundtrack AND I got cast as the part I wanted... Velma VonTussle
I'm so excited

@thewittyphantom (sorry I have to keep replying like this, I'm on a side blog lmao)

Yes I totally agree that like, the lines themselves portray him as just a man who misses his wife and can't deal with it super well! My issue was in the delivery - to me, it felt kind of villain-y at points?
And yes they DEFINATELY do
Thanks I'll check those out!!
So I've only just joined this fandom and know almost nothing outside of the musical soundtrack itself, but I would sincerely love a Hadestown revival in which Hades isn't played as a villain.
Like, sure he and Persephone are having marital issues but they do really love each other and their iasues come from self doubt and significant time apart every year. Because if you look at the lyrics alone Hades could DEFINATELY be played as a slightly grey-moral god who doesn't have all that much time for mortals (but alp the gods seem slightly grey-moral when it comes to the mortals so...)
If instead the villainious one wasn't Hades, but The Fates
Imagine if instead of being seen to narrate the inner monologues of characters, they are actually planting these thoughts in their heads. They tell Hades that Orpheus would become a martyr without a catch, they tell Orpheus that Eurydice isn't behind him
I just think it'd be cool

Oh that's so cool!! In the soundtrack the Fates didn't come across as villains but I just saw some potential for that to be played up, but Hades definately came off as a little too controlling to me. I'll definately look up what Patrick Page said though, that'd be super interesting, thanks!

Had such a good time blocking numbers today it was SO FUN and I am PILING ON the gay subtext
In Defying Gravity we fully just ignored the OG blocking at one point to stare lovingly at each other when we were singing together and I just
I love Glinda and Elphaba so much and I'm so glad I get to play her
