I honestly and truly believe all good AUs should be a little “”””ooc”””” in the sense that good characterisation involves understanding that changes a characters backstory and circumstances will have an effect on how they respond to the world around them

Good characterisation isn’t about creating a perfect 1:1 canon replica it’s about understanding why a character is different in your work and about grounding the changes you do deliberately choose to make in canon character traits

Was talking in the tags about Gaz with aches and pains and I was reminded that athletic tape is a thing and just.... Gaz taping his shoulder when it starts aching, something he doesn't let anyone know about save for Price. No reason to get medical involved when he can patch himself up just fine. Besides he doesn't want anyone trying to get him out of the line of duty. It's really just from holding position for long stretches. He doesn't know how Ghost manages to sit for days watching a target down a rifle scope, hours of it set his muscles on fire. But he doesn't want to seem weak, it's hard enough being Price's golden boy, people are already looking for weaknesses to pick at. So he does it all himself.

Except he always has trouble taping one stretch on his back and it's not something he can ask for help with from anyone. Except maybe you. He shows up at your door and hustles you back into your room with a few quick glances around the barracks hall. You sarcastically invite him in and he just tosses you a roll of athletic tape, strips his shirt off and turns his back to you. It's not exactly an order, he hasn't asked anything, but you can see where the tape should fit against his carefully laid web, so you tear a piece off the roll and lay it over his skin. Maybe you take a moment to smooth it out and check the rest of his work, not feeling the firm muscles of his back or admiring how well built he is.

It's a short moment before his tee is back over his head and he's plucking the tape from your hand, kissing you cheek with a, "let's keep this between us, eh love?" and you don't know how to respond to that. When did you become "love"? Why did he kiss you? Is that where you are with him? Can you barge into his room now? You feel Gaz brush past you, hear your door open and close, hear him whistling down the hall. Should you be reading into this? You're not going to read into this, or you might explode.

Hii, I was wondering if you have an account on the character AI, if not I think it would be amazing to create a character from your fics there, for example mafia141, just a suggestion, I love mafia 141 and there the readers could interact more with the character

uhm... yeah, no.

i never plan and do not give anyone permission to take my fics and put them on any ai platform. honestly the thought of it alone seriously makes my stomach feel like it's splitting in half. like the thought that i've put in so much effort to build these characters and scenarios and someone would just put all that into an ai is just... mind boggling to me.

ai steals works from creators. creators like me, the writer who's given you guys these characters, and other amazing authors. anything the ai would churn out would just be a pale imitation of other peoples hard work. work that we've poured hours into creating for you guys.

honestly, i pride myself in creating and publishing works and posts as often as i do despite my hectic irl life, and the fact that it seems like you're wanting more despite it, and wanting to put it through something that unapologetically plagiarizes other works really hurts. if you want to interact more with the characters, you can wait for me to publish more works, and if it's not enough for you, you're more than welcome to write your own fics based on your own ideas. you can send me asks about them! or literally interact on the posts here on tumblr! i feel like i do a pretty good job at responding to you guys! at least i hope! but please don't put it into ai.

i'm trying to stay level headed about this, but i feel like i can speak for a lot of authors when i say it feels really insulting when people do this. like i literally love and look forward to your guys reactions and comments and thoughts and make time in my day to interact with everyone so this just feels like a punch to the gut lmao.

prefacing: i have really bad vasovagal reactions to needles and usually almost pass out when i get blood drawn (i never actually feel the fear, but that’s besides the point lol) so, how would the tattoo lads react to someone who desperately wants a tattoo but almost passes out from fear ? 👀

once again, gaz is the only one even attempting to be normal.

as soon as he notices, he stops and tries to wake you. he fills up a little dixie cup full of water and flicks some of it in your face, insisting that you drink the rest of it when you wake up. makes you drink a little cup of juice in case it's a blood sugar thing, and refuses to get back to work until you assure him at least three times that you're good to go, really! it isn't until you're home again that you notice he's put his number into your phone. (god, what else was he doing in there?)

price straight up does not notice. at all. man is too involved in the artwork to really pay much attention anyways, he's just glad you're not squirming around or whining. when the piece is done he just thinks you fell asleep because you're such a fucking champ. when you wake up he's singing your praises, patting you on the shoulder and saying that of all the clients he's ever had, you sit the best. he's so pleased with you that you don't even bother to correct him.

as soon as soap sees that you're out, his hands are all over you. doesn't even bother with the pretense of either finishing the tattoo or tending to you, just gets a big 'ol handful of you and goes to town kissing your slack, unconscious mouth. grabs your wrist so he can press your hand to his hard cock through his jeans. doesn't stop until price barks out a gruff 'mactavish!' across the shop floor, and then grumpily sets to work trying to wake you up.

ghost clocks that you're gonna pass out before even you realize it, he just doesn't care, particularly. just keeps his head down and continues working on your piece, stopping only so he can readjust the position of your unconscious body. when you wake back up he asks if you had a good nap with a little chuckle, telling you to make sure that next time you eat a protein rich meal and a cup of juice or something. it takes you a solid few days to notice that he'd tattooed a skull and s.r. onto your ass without your knowledge or permission.
