Our Tumblr Debut!
Here we are. Our online presence has expanded even further and we’re now here and ready to rally. So who exactly are we and what will we be up to next July...
The Mongol Rally. A 10,000 mile journey from England to Mongolia (and then back again), to be completed in a small, crude hatchback that's definitely seen better days. Our route will take us through countries including Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan and of course, Mongolia, navigating dusty deserts and pothole ridden roads to reach the finishing line in Ulan-Ude. --What exactly is the Mongol Rally?-- Founded in 2004, the Mongol Rally is a yearly event that sees all sorts of madmen drive from Western Europe to the heart of Mongolia in self proclaimed 'shitboxes'. The 10,000 mile run aims for each team to raise £1,000+ for charity with £500 going to Cool Earth (who aim to help stop rainforest destruction). The route can take you through all sorts of landscapes. The heat of the Tajikistan desert plains to the scarce Russian forests... nowhere is out of bounds! Except for the Armenian/Azerbaijanian border... they're currently not friends... --Who are we?-- Laurie Cope. I'm 18 years old and am finishing up college before hoping to continue on with further education at university. Having spent my entire life traveling and living abroad in Tokyo and New York I live for new new experiences. Having had the privilege to be brought up in such a environment leaves me wanting to give back and what better way then doing what I love and providing for those less fortunate. Ollie James. Currently 17 studying at Alton College. I'm a massive travel enthusiast with three continents already ticked off the list. I love my cars and tinkering around with them is definitely a personal hobby. I'm incredibly excited about merging the two together for a road-trip adventure off a life time. All whilst raising shed loads of money for charity! Rowan Whale, I'm 16 and I can't drive. I'm really here for the moral support and with the incentive to do something amazing for charity whilst travelling to some of the most remote parts of the world. I've been a part of charity organisations such as the Round Table and the Scouts all my life and this is not the first time I've embarked on a charity adventure, my travels taking me to Uganda and Kenya in 2015, and I'm really excited to see more of the world. --How long will the trip last?-- Thats quite a tricky question to answer but we're estimating 5 to 6 weeks to complete the 10,000 mile round trip. Some people do it quicker, some longer depending on their route or amount of stops along the way. --Still have more questions to ask?-- Email us at [email protected] for us to respond nice and quickly. --One more thing...-- We are in in full-time education at the moment, so we're a tad strapped for cash. However... if you are in a position to sponsor us, you could see your business' logo smacked all over our car as it travels across the globe and also feature in all of our social media outlets! What a great publicity opportunity, huh? If you have any other requests or questions regarding sponsorship, again, please do not hesitate to contact us with the email address mentioned above. Thank you very much if you've read this far down, we really appreciate it (we truly do!). Team Kappa
