If you could assign fengqing (canon or au) to borrow with no intent to return steal from each other’s closets, what would it be?

I AM ALWAYS A FAN OF MQ IN FX'S SHIRTS!! mq always says fx should take better care of his clothes, bc his shirts are all stretched 🙄🙄 and he just leaves his shit on a chair after washing them. but mq still wears them all the time...🤭 it drives fx a little crazy to see qing-er wearing his clothes.

i am also a little bit obsessed with mq borrowing pants from fx after he... stayed overnight... but the waist is too large on him ever since i read it in clara's fanfic ITS SO CUTE!!!

mq thinks fx's clothes are ugly but he is very pretty and stylish so he is confident he can pull off anything!! 😤

i think there's not much that fx can take from mq's wardrobe, bc he wears a larger size than mq due to his build. but he can take some accessories sometimes (translation: mq puts them on him)

can you do a quick run down of steps on how you draw fengqing’s hair 🥹 i always have such a hard time with it especially mu qing and you draw their hair so nicely

i draw their hair based on how i would style the hair in real life, so a lot of it is visualizing how you would tie it to make it look like their haircut.

I think mq has very long, silky hair with curtain bangs. you have to curl the long face framing bangs backwards to create the wavy parts around the face.

For fx, i draw a different type of high hair bun depending on if it's canon design or modern AU. i think it helps to imagine how he would tie it based on his personality/the situation.

i hope it was helpful!! 🌟✨ i recommend watching pictures of real hairstyles/hair styling videos to know how the hair ends up in such or such a way, because it will make it easier to visualize how to draw it.

these are just my designs but you can imagine the hairstyle in the way that you like/imagine them !!

what’s the other meaning of nan feng :0

this may not be intentional by the author, but nf's name 南风 (nán fēng) is pronounced the same as 男风 (nán fēng) which means "male homosexuality" lol

nf's name is written with the character for "south" and "wind" while the other one is written with the character for "man" and "wind"

it's very obvious why fx would choose these characters for a fake name at the last minute, but in boys' names, 南 (south) is often used instead of 男 (man) because it sounds the same but has a softer meaning than just putting MAN in the name lol

on the day off, fx usually has the time to get up, work out, come back, shower and prepare breakfast before qing-er wakes up.... but everything changed when qing-er used his special skill (cuddle a-xin very strongly) !!!

hi, firstly, i love your art so much!! fengqing make me so weak ;-; secondly, do you have any tips for lack of motivation/fear of failure? like that feeling when drawing seems scary because you’re not sure if it’s going to look the way you want it to or it’s hard to get yourself to produce something just because drawing is difficult?

i think that if you are not motivated to draw, there's no point in forcing yourself just to produce something, because pressuring yourself will just make you stressed. i think you can get more motivation in many ways, but you should just give it time.

for me, even doing something unrelated to drawing can give me motivation/ideas to draw!! for example, if i go shopping and i see some cute outfits, or a nice cafe, or i went somewhere fun with my friends, it will make me want to draw my fav characters doing it too hehe🤭🤭 in any case, you dont have to feel bad about not drawing. not drawing for 6 months can seem long, but its nothing in comparison to all the years that you are alive 🫡🌟

for the avoiding failure part, you can consider that a drawing doesnt ever have to be finished. one secret about drawings is that you can fix them how many times you want and you can spend months on one drawing if you want !!

i think it's the best thing to accept that you will never nail a drawing in one try. if the arm looks wrong then it just looks wrong and you can just draw over it again. if the face looks bad then you can just erase it and redraw from scratch how many times you want. in my case, i will absolute have like 60 layers of sketch before i colour lol

me duplicating my layer and redrawing each part until i get it right (2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2) etc. etc.

you can't fix a thing without putting something down on the canvas first so i say just draw it however. then you can see what looks bad and fix it one by one. just work towards making it look the way you want it to.

i often post a "finished" drawing, and then come back to it months later and redraw some parts and post it again. i just think it's nice to think that you can always decide that you can still work on it!! my drawing is a dear plant that i grew myself by watering it and giving it sunshine over the days. 🌿

for a concrete advice, i would say to look up references even for things that you think you know how to draw.

it gets soso more easy when you stop relying on your brain waves to hallucinate a picture onto the canvas. if you don't know how to draw a hand holding a phone, just google "hand holding a phone stock image" and then copy the position!!

i drew both of these in under 1 minute ↓

seeing the reference pic made it easier to identify where is mistaken, and helps you improve the drawing easily.

it doesn't have to look exactly the same as the ref, but it helps you visualize better.

ALSO!!!! i will never stop recommending "PureRef" to everyone!! (a software to paste all your reference images to have them on your screen while you draw) !! you can move around the little board window and no need for a second monitor 🌟✨

in any case, keeping yourself interested in a lot of things will also make it easier to find reference pictures (by searching more precisely) + have more ideas/inspirations to draw!!

in think overall you should just let let your interests take you where they will.

hi, i recently made a tumblr account and i love your fengqing art so much!! i’ve been wanting to try and finally start drawing more regularly and i was wondering if you had any tips on where to start when drawing characters or people in general? i think most would just say to look up tutorials and videos but even that’s just very vague to me and seems too daunting ಠ_ಠ

this is just my personal advice, but as someone who never "practices" or studies (i dont even own a pencil or a sketchbook), i don't recommend following tutorials if you are just starting out, because rather than learning how to do things correctly, i think it's important to draw in a way that's fun for you.

i really like to draw people but i don't have any interest in studying anatomy, and it can be daunting for beginners as you say. also, there can be a problem of thinking of what to draw in the first place.

I think that you can find some poses that you like and copy them, and then you will come to understand what feels natural (ex. where does the arm or leg go in a certain pose). Like if i see a cute pose, I just draw my favourite characters in the same pose heehee 🤭

Another thing is that I like to look at outfits a lot, so if I see an outfit that I like, I will try to draw my favourite character wearing it (for example).

I think those are my general tips to draw mindlessly, so you can naturally become able to draw a variety of people doing a variety of things over time. it's like when we first learn how to draw a character standing with hands in the pockets and we find it so cool, so that's all that we draw for like, the next 6 months. that's a good way to practice it !! 👍

Drawing is very fun for me, and I think that if you want to keep liking to draw, it's important to look at different arts, works, etc. and instead of analyzing the techniques of the artist, you can try to figure out what you like about it. It doesn't have to be renowned painters or anything, as long as you like it.

(tgcf manhua art) our taizi dianxia is very pretty!! he has long eyelashes and red lips, so maybe i want to draw something like that too.

I think you already know it's important to experiment, but I think it doesn't hurt to draw the same thing over and over again too. Literally all I ever draw is fengqing kissing, so if all you want to draw is some characters standing on a white background that's fine too. Even hua cheng made 1000 statues of dianxia until he got good 👍✨

that being said, if someone wants to watch videos, my favourite painting channel is watercolor by shibasaki

he is a painting/drawing instructor and not only is he insanely good, but he looks like he has so much fun drawing that it makes me want to draw every time i watch it. I'm not sure if all his videos are subbed in english but i think most are!!
