Old Character Art: Famswap/Yellow Connie

There are three SU AUs from the dawn of my AU craze that I put significant time and thought into. Baby Blue is one; this is another, inspired by this April Fools comic from @askbluestevenuniverse.

So as you might expect, the AU premise is that Connie is now Yellow Diamond's daughter, and a bunch of character roles have been swapped. More details and characters under the cut.

Constance Diamond Maheshwaran is the daughter of Doug Maheshwaran and Yellow Diamond. She is jointly raised by her human father and adoptive Gem parents. While they mean well, they are restrictive, and the Gems see Connie as a Diamond-in-training. As she has gotten older, Connie has spent more time with the Universes, long time family friends.

Greg (who I never drew) and Dr. Rose Universe are much more lenient than Connie's family, possibly to an unhealthy degree. Their son, Steven, is only a year older than Connie, and the two have become very close.

As for the Crystal Gems, they were imprisoned on Yellow Diamond's arrival to Earth. While Rose's fate is unknown, the other Crystal Gems were somehow able to escape.

Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl are now united only by the loss of their leader and their desire to avenge her. They have been watching the Homeworld invaders from afar, carefully planning a counter attack...

To top off this post, I also drew the form Yellow Diamond had taken at the time she met Doug.

I decided to draw up my own take on Cerise Diamond, originally from this one-off comic by @devlunar:

Designed to take over Pink's role in the Diamond Authority, Cerise was intended to be planted in Earth's crust. Her incubation would theoretically destroy all organic life on the planet, a final act of revenge against the Crystal Gems. However, the project was cancelled in favor of the Cluster, and she would only come to exist thanks to a certain Spinel finding and weaponizing her injector. By the time she emerged, the empire was no more, and "her" planet was overrun by humans and off-color Gems. For some reason, this has left her somewhat bitter.

Old Character Art: Diamondswap

I have a bunch of old art (mostly character references) for Steven Universe AUs I played around with for some amount of time. Since I started up Baby Blue, I don't expect to return to said AUs any time soon but that doesn't mean they aren't worth sharing.

To start, I thought I'd share a Diamond Authority for a "role reversal" AU (art from Feb 2022). Details are under the cut.

The premise is that the Diamond Authority is turned on its head: Pink is the one on top, and White is at the bottom. It's already been done countless times before, but I wanted to try making one that retains the Diamonds' original personalities and interests (to an extent). Thus, Pink acts as a mother figure for Gemkind, the empire is much smaller with an emphasis on individuality, and groups of Gems are sent to protect organic life rather than destroy it.

As for White, she has been trying to improve the empire for her entire existence. However, her ideas tend to involve Gem mass-production or decreasing individual freedoms, and have been consistently vetoed. This has created a rift between White and the other Diamonds (especially Pink), leaving her to constantly seek out a chance to prove herself.

As a little bonus for reading this far, I had also drawn the swapped White in a disguise form: Herkimer Quartz.
