It’s crazy to me that the comics put Azula in an abusive asylum that caused her mental state to deteriorate, turning a temporary mental breakdown into full-blown psychosis, and yet fandom still calls her “pure evil” and blames her for lashing out at hallucinations that terrify her.

How much abuse does this exploited teen soldier need to endure before this fandom is capable of extending a single ounce of empathy or understanding for her?

How can you read Zuko dangling a delusional Azula over a cliff, threatening her life, and think Zuko is in the right?

Is it that fandom hates Azula that much?

Or that society hates mentally ill women that much?

The "born lucky" phrase is such a blatant lie when you analyze Azula's existence that it's laughable but let's focus on it from the point of view of bending. The phrase is telling us that if Azula didn't come to the world with a more natural aptitude for firebending than what Ozai perceived of Zuko's then she has no existence. No value. No importance. She's nothing.

I think,,, the problem with Zuko is that he doesn't understand the concept of consequences and not in the sense that he thinks he should be allowed to do whatever he wants, i just think he never grasped cause and effect, like he doesn't see something happen and think "this happened as a result of other things" he just thinks things happen randomly unless he sees a painfully obvious mouse trap-esque set of events. Like he doesn't see his arc, one day he was just good and everything else is unrelated, and thats why he doesn't seem to put effort into long term goals like trying to make people better, he doesnt think azula needs a support system to get better, he thinks she just needs one push and she'll be good because thats what he thinks happened to him.

Archie would have loved booping. Jughead would have not because it's a reflection of the decay of the american dream. Veronica would find a way to make booping profitable. Betty would be constantly booped by a serial killer trying to get her attention so she has to opt out. Reggie would not get booping (what are you booping what do you mean you are booping me) but he would participate. Cheryl would make everyone boop her or else but she would only boop Toni and not let anyone else boop Toni. Kevin would make booping about himself and complain that nobody wants to bop him because he gay. Fangs would die in a booping incident.

I am genuinely so sad at how Ty Lee and Mai talk about Azula in the comics. She is a 14 year old who had a breakdown under so much pressure. She is a 14 year old girl whose only friends she’s ever had betrayed her. She very same friends with who she played when they were small. The same girls with who she did cartwheels in the garden during their free time.

And these girls refer to her as a nutjob and a lunatic. They were meant to stick up for her. See that she was struggling. See that she IS struggling. But instead they call her names and treat her like the gunk at the bottom of their shoe and it genuinely breaks my heart. Azula deserved so much better :(
