Journey to Serenity

In order to travel the beautiful world a person should start by travelling their own country. Sylhet has to be mentioned first if we talk about the beauty of Bangladesh. Hence this time I decided to visit the famous sights of Sylhet. All of us were going in this trip met at Cumilla Railway Station. Four of us were going in the trip including me, my childhood friend Shihab, my University friend Rafi and one of my smaller associate. Our journey for Sylhet began at 12:30 AM. The feeling of journey by train is quite intriguing to me especially because of the experience of natural wind.

After 30 minutes our first pit stop was Bhramonbaria. During that time we got the opportunity to walk on that station and see lots of various people who live in the station and had some snacks. While the sun was raising our train was on its way to Shrimongol hence we got to see several greenery in the form of mountains, and tea estates. After travelling more 5 more hours we finally reached Sylhet.

Waiting for us in the station was a young brother of mine named Omor. He used to live in Cumilla but later moved onto Sylhet after completing his SSC from Cumilla District School. He invited us to stay at his home when we visited Sylhet and therefore came to the station to pick us up. After having breakfast at his home we decided to first visit Jaflong. It is not only a scenic sighting of Sylhet only but Bangladesh itself. We hired a CNG for the day and set off to Jaflong.

Just like Jaflong even the roads of Sylhet is a bit different. Just outside of Omor’s house there were tea estates. As we moved forward the tea estates increased. In addition to that we were also seeing mountains that are shared by both Bangladesh and India. As tea estates kept coming we could not resist the urge of taking a few pictures.

After that small pause we again continued in our journey and in small time reached Jaflong. Once we reached there the first thing I saw was big machineries that are used to cut stones and several workers that work there. When we went a bit forward we were able to see rivers that flow from Bangladesh to India.

We took a boat to see the biggest fountain of Jaflong. Although the boat ride first felt scary but slowly we were able to get off the fear. On the other side of the river bank we were able to see some Inidans. We had to get off the boat and walk a bit before finally reaching the fountain. It was quite big and people from all over the country come to visit the fountain. We could also see there some temporary shops that sold numerous items.

After bathing in the fountain we had to face a horrific incident. The sky suddenly became dark. It started to rain. The water of the fountain started becoming aggressive and people became restless for finding a boat. Whoever could get in a boat and got out of that place did but we were left behind. At the end although we were able to get on a boat the rain increased and there was such a high tide in the river that the boat was about to collapse but eventually we were able to reach the river bank.

We then came back to Omar’s house had lunch and went to visit the Shrine of Shahjalal and Shahporan. There we saw several people performing several rituals. There were also several white pigeons in the shrines. After a long day of travelling we came back home very tired.

The morning of our second day began with the sound of pouring rain. Omar brought us the traditional breakfast of Sylhet which was “Pithas”.After breakfast Omar took us to a high peak from which the Town of Sylhet looked even better. When we finished our Jumma Prayer we set off to Bichanakandi fountain. The river way was too beautiful.

We got to see several cows and buffaloes grazing in the fields. We also got to see some boatmen having their lunch in their boats. After reaching we took a bath and walked on stones. Since the water so clean it felt great walking on it. The most beautiful thing about Bichanakandi was the collection of several colorful stones.

Then we decided to visit Ratargul forest. Since that place was a remote region we had to face severe difficulties reaching there. After reaching we got in a boat and started roaming in the forest. Our boatman was a small kid. The solitude of the forest felt a bit scary. It felt as if we have reached a place out of this world. The rain again started to fall hence we had to return to the bank.

While we were coming back to Omor’s home we remembered about the famous 7-Layer tea of Sylhet.

After having that we decided to have a barbeque party at Omor’s home. We got a lot of help from Omor’s neighbour in conducting the barbeque.

The next morning we bid farewell to Sylhet and started our journey back to Cumilla.

A Trip to The Sea

It was quite normal for a full-time student such as me to pass a busy time after getting admitted in a University. But some fellow executives of ULAB Social Welfare Club including me decided to go on a tour. Our destination was Shitakundo and Guliyakhali Sea Beach, Chittagong. So as planned we started our tour one day after semester break started. Joining men in this trip as I mentioned earlier were three seniors (Salman, Hafiz and Rana) and two of my batch mates (Mashrur and Nihad). We gathered in the Syedabad Bus Stand and since it was raining which meant the weather was chilly therefore we decided to go to our destination by a Non-AC Bus. Our journey began at 11:30 PM and luckily I got a seat near the window which I always liked as the feeling of the passing wind entering the bus and the presence of music just makes it better.

After chatting for some time we went to sleep. After about 3 hours we had our first pit stop in a roadside hotel in Cumilla. We decided to have some snacks. The food was comparatively over-priced but since we were so hungry we had to buy it anyway. After our pit stop we again started our journey. After three hours we reached Feni and decided to stop there. When we reached the Sun was just rising. There were only few people in the street. We booked two hotel rooms for two days. After checking-in we planned to sleep for about 4 hours and be ready to visit the desired placed within 9:30 AM. But we overslept and therefore got out at around 11AM.

After having a delicious dish of chicken for breakfast from a restaurant in front of our hotel we set off for Shitakundo. We took a bus from the town of Feni to Shitakundo Market and then another bus to the Shitakundo Eco Park.

While we were walking through the park we could hear the calling of several birds which sounded scary rather than soothing.

Since the mountain we wanted to climb was quite high we had to take a small break in the middle. After reaching the top we got to experience the beautiful scenery of the mountains.

After that we started going to the fountain. The path of the fountain contained several old stairs which due to the rain looked even better.

After coming down several steps we had to cross a puddle in order to reach the fountain. The scenario of crossing the puddle with valuable things such as wallet, mobile devices in our hands was quite fun.

At the end of the puddle we finally saw the fountains. There were three fountains which all looked equally beautiful. It was quite obvious that we went to bathe in the water of the fountain as soon as we reached it.

After enjoying the beauty of the fountains we came by foot in front of the park. We had our lunch there and set off to our final step which was Guliyakhali Sea Beach through a rocky road.

The path to the sea went through fields of chopped trees and fields of green grass.

During the high tide water from the sea comes quite close to the shore. Although it was evening and we were there for the whole afternoon we decided to stay longer unlike several others who started leaving early.

The main reason we decided to stay was the scenic beauty of the stars and the moon in the night sky. But after that we faced some problems. Our seniors got stuck in a quicksand but were able to get out just in time. After that we had to wait for a long time before getting any transport to rerun to our hotel. But finally through hardship we were able to reach our hotel. After having dinner and chatting a bit we set of our journey back to Dhaka on the next morning around 11 AM…..
