Took me until about halfway through college before I realized “study” means “play with the material in a variety of ways until you understand it” and not just “read the assigned chapters and do the homework” and I think that probably should have been discussed at some point prior to that.

You know what, I think I’ll revive this blog as I document my journey studying for my licensure exams. I’ve needed some extra inspiration.

So. Long time no see! I passed all my exams on one go... and have the hardest set of exams in my course on September. In the meantime, I've been drawing and doing commissions to relax. I confess I won't be updating this blog much, but feel free to follow my art account to see what I'm up to.

Also I'll try to have regular commissions back up by November/December! I'll post my updated commission sheet by then on main.

Last Series: It's been so long since I watched one. Chainsaw Man probably

Craving: Nothing at the moment... but udon ramen sounds nice.

Tea or Coffee: Either. I go a coffee-fueled month until I realize it's wrecking my sleep, and then I switch to mainly tea until academic life pressures me into coffee again.

Currently working on: Advertising art commissions + thinking of my story projects, including one about a werewolf and her loyal dog.

Dusting this blog off to announce I'm still chugging along. Bacteriology quiz on Culture + Sensitivity and Biochemical Testing tomorrow unless the weather causes my duty hours to be cancelled. After all those days of insufferable heat, the monsoon season decides to make an entrance.

Might start taking counselling sessions again.

7 day stretch complete! Wrenching my circadian rhythm back to normal after night shift. Listening to The National and sipping coffee in a cafe. Drinking in the sunshine; it's finally starting to feel like spring. Feeling better after a pretty terrible start to the week. Going to relax tonight and finally read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I have a handful of shifts left on L&D and in the OR and this rotation will be over in 2 weeks - time is flying, in a good way.

Nearly done with hospital rotation but the first major exam is around the corner. Wish me luck as I defeat burn out that finally hit after nine years in the making

I hype myself up for my Asian parent-mandated medical-related course by making art for it apparently Fun fact the test tube they’re holding contains culture medium known as a butt-slant (the butt part being the lower flat portion). You stick the inoculating loop with the sample in the butt and you drag it out in a zig-zag pattern over the slant as you pull it out. The more you know (I know you should wear a mask in a bacteriology lab. Shhhh)

I’ve done some Twitter threads on this topic, so thought it might be nice to do a Tumblr post too. One of my pet peeves is when people act like adult fantasy (or sci-fi for that matter) is just a straight white dude thing and that diversity only exists in young adult fantasy. That’s such a disservice to all the authors of marginalized identities currently writing adult fantasy!
