Thirteen years ago I held my precious princess for the very first time and felt the enormous weight of responsibility for this magnificent human being. This was the first time in my life the world felt scary and at the same time, felt the happiest I’d ever felt. We’ve navigated through many obstacles to get to this point, it hasn’t been easy, but we’ll certainly keep navigating as best we can. I am so glad to have taken advantage of all the Daddy/Daughter time possible because I can already see that slippin’ by as she metamorphoses into her teenage years. I think about my dear Father every day, anytime my mind is not focused on something, it inherently goes to thoughts about my Dad. I still can’t control the happy or sad thoughts about it all, it just hits out of nowhere. There were many times I called my Dad to hear about his day, even though I pretty much knew what he was up to, we could always make each other laugh with silly stories. I miss that so much. I miss his smile and the big hugs he would give me when I’d stop by to see him. Today makes 3 months since he was taken away from us, and I still can’t escape from feeling a bit broken inside. I wish I could give him one more hug. In loving memory of my Dad, my beautiful wife had this made for me and it brought me to tears, it’s so beautiful. Today we laid my father to rest. He spent 28 days in the hospital fighting for his life. He left us on 01/12 at 8:03 pm, the saddest day of my life. Unfortunately, now I know what a broken heart feels like. I’ve dreaded this day for a very long time even though is inevitable. I just feel it wasn’t his time yet. The world is feeling very different to me now and I take solace in knowing that he is no longer in pain, not suffering and that his memory will live on in our hearts and everyone who loved him.
