Ordinary people who did extraordinary things, each with their own story to tell. Honor their sacrifice today so we may shape a better future tomorrow! The Medal of Honor is the United States' highest award for military valor in action. And while over 150 years have passed since its inception, the meaning behind the Medal has never tarnished. Etched within are the very values that each Recipient displayed in the moments that mattered—bravery, courage, sacrifice, integrity. A deep love of country and a desire to always do what is right. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqOTEavuHKT/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

PREPARED FOR EVERYTHING Whether it’s a natural disaster (tornados, hurricanes, etc.) or man-made as a result of a chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear incident, Emergency Management specialists are trained for response and recovery operations anywhere in the world. Additionally, these professionals develop plans to ensure all other Air Force personnel are trained to meet mission needs and to minimize casualties and damage in the event of any disaster situation. The Emergency Management badge is based on an insignia first used by the U.S. Army’s Chemical Service in 1917. It features a representation of the organic chemical compound benzene superimposed over two crossed glass vessels called retorts. Retorts have been used for centuries in laboratories for distillation. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqBvyuwLMjQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The City of Philadelphia is honoring a hero who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Williamson served the city as a firefighter for 27 years. He was also a U.S. Marine and a family man, survived by his mother and son. Wiliamson, a 27-year veteran of the department, died in the line of duty after being trapped in a collapsed building while putting out a fire along the 300 block of Indiana Avenue in the Fairhill neighborhood on June 18, 2022. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney called Williamson a hero for his decades of service protecting the residents of Philadelphia... "For more than 27 years, he dedicated his life to serving and protecting the people of Philadelphia, and sacrificed his life protecting others," Kenney said. "... he exemplified heroism by doing what our first responders do every day; put on their uniform, leave their loved ones, and carry out their sworn duty to protect and serve the residents of this city." *Lt Williamson was posthumously promoted to Captain. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp_LCL4L6cM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
