Swan Song || Chapter 2 Execution
It wasn’t possible. It couldn’t have been happening. There was absolutely no way she could have been caught. And yet? There she was, facing down the barrel of a metaphorical gun. There was no time left for talk, her classmates were already looking at her in disgust. Though, how ironic it was, how different their opinion of her had been merely moments ago. It was all so laughable.

Chivalry? What is that? Please refrain from mentioning things that have died long before Kakeru walked the Earth.
Anyway, his hand froze on the way to the blindfold. He thought about it for a minute. Her response did get him thinking, after all. She’s blind? Well… that definitely explains the lack of response, but it also makes Kakeru look like a jerk.
Tumblr media
Letting out a sigh, “Oh, you’re blind? Well then…”
Well then, what? He was unsure of how to proceed. Should he apologize? Maybe. Should he offer his assistance? Yes, but that doesn’t sound like fun! Should he pester her? No, but that does sound like fun! Moving on, her mention of Super High School Level threw him for a loop though.
Tumblr media
“Super High School Level? You? What talent could you possibly have?!”
What a gentleman! Before waiting for her to respond, he looked back at his hand that was still halfway stretched out to her face. Although Nariya couldn’t see it, Kakeru’s mischievous grin has returned to his face.
Tumblr media
“…………………”
With a quick motion, Kakeru pulls off the blindfold! Let Flagfall Manor see the secrets this blindfold once held!
Needless to say, Nariya was rather miffed by the insolence of this young man. She frowned as Kakeru’s comments were starting to really getting on her nerves. But before she could even make a retort to the other boy’s statements, she felt a sudden movement towards her and then the sensation of her blindfold being yanked off.
Tumblr media
“A-AH!”
Nariya let out a yelp as her hands flew up to her face, a moment too late. Biting her lip and feeling honestly really attacked right now, Nariya reached out in vain, grasping for her blindfold.
Tumblr media
“G-give that back this instant! How... How could you do this? And after insulting me no less? Know you no shame?!”
Letting out an exasperated breath as she nearly stumbled in her next attempt of reclaiming her blindfold. Unable to do so, Nariya let out another ‘hmph’ before doing her best to regain at least some of her composure.
“You... You sir are rather rude! I’ll have you know, I am Katabukiyama Nariya. Super High School Level Songstress. And I will not be treated in such a manner. Now. If you would please return to me my blindfold.”

The lack of noteworthy occurrences once Kouki and the rest of his new acquaintances had entered the foyer was beginning to get on his nerves. He liked to think himself patient, and he usually was, but this kind of situation was entirely new to him. He began scanning the faces around him, and quickly enough landed on the figure of a girl standing quite with a smile on her face and…a blindfold over her eyes?
That was worth questioning, if only to sate his curiosity and keep him from losing his mind.
He slowly moved towards her, a single eyebrow raised, and coughed once loudly.
“Er, excuse me?”
Nariya had been waiting patiently for someone to come speak with her and it appeared that her patience had paid off. Her smile widened into a large grin as Kouki approached her and cleared his throat.
Tumblr media
“Ah, yes! Hello! What is the matter my friend?”
Though, feeling as such a response might be a little over the top for the situation, Nariya decided to tone it down a notch and simply smiled as she had been.
Tumblr media
“Ah, please forgive my overzealous response. I assure you, I am usually rather calm and collected.”
Nariya paused, realizing just why Kouki had approached her to begin with. With her stage attire, she must have looked rather out of place, and to top it all off, she must have been smiling in a situation where such an expression would have been out of place. Perhaps a more distressed appearance might have led others to approach her with a more helpful demeanor rather than being met with wary concern. Yet, Nariya could not believe that, no one had recognized her at a glance. This never happened on the streets. If she even stepped out of her car for a moment, she would have been swarmed by screaming fans.
Still, regardless of what had been, Nariya brought herself back to the present as she stood facing Kouki.
Tumblr media
“I am Nariya... Katabukiyama Nariya, by the way. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance... If you were wondering why I’ve just been standing here like this? I’m... Unfortunately unable to do much investigating of our current situation as I lack...” She sighs, “I’m blind. And everyone’s moving around so much, I bump into people just trying to get from point A to point B.”
She shook her head and let out another disappointed sigh.
“Of all times my aide isn’t here to assist me, it has to be now. How convenient...”

In the foyer, Kakeru was standing at one end of the area. He was looking at one of the chess pieces, and was preparing himself to climb it. He wiggled his toes on the ground and got in a a squatting position and he was ready to pounce to the top of the chess piece! Well, at least as high we he could.
But that never did happen. Before he leaped back up, he saw someone standing over at the other side of the foyer. It seems most of the others had cleared out, but she was just standing there. Hands together in front of her, she might as well be another chess piece!
Kakeru waved at her. No response. He waved again. No response. This time he stands back up and waves both of his arms above his head. There’s no way she could not tell that he was waving at her. Still no response. What a rude lady!
Kakeru makes a little ‘hmph’ sound and walks over to the lady. He quickly finds himself within a close distance to her.
Tumblr media
“I don’t know if you could tell or not, but I was waving at you.” Kakeru pauses, “Maybe if you would just take that blindfold off, you’d be able to see better…”
Tumblr media
“…….”
Uh oh - he’s getting ideas! He wasn’t sure if she could tell, but he was inching his right hand towards the blindfold. That’s right folks, Kakeru Kinokyu’s about to be the SHSL Blindfold Remover!
As all the room began to grow silent, Nariya’s smile wavered slightly. If everyone left, then that’d mean she’d have to find a way around herself, possibly bumping into walls or other objects that stood in her way. It was at times like these that she had an aide with her at all times. Yet there seemed to be none around at all. Not only that, how could anyone ignore such a lady in need as she? Has chivalry truly met it’s end in this modern era?
But just as she was thinking of just saying fuck it and wandering around herself, the sound of fast approaching footsteps caught her attention. But just as she had her hopes up, the one who approached her ended up sounding rather rude to say the least. Yet, he was the one to be calling her rude for not noticing his waving? Nariya couldn’t help but scoff indignantly.
Tumblr media
“E-excuse me, sir? I assure you, in regards to my blindfold, I would in no way be able to see better with or without it. I’m blind for your information, and I apologize if I perhaps offended you in some way for not responding? However, please understand the limitations of my ability. I might be a Super High School Level, but that does not return to me my ability of sight.”
Nariya huffs indignantly, paying no mind to the hand that was being reached towards her blindfold. Not that she could even pay mind to it at all.

nakajimacorp:
In a brief moment of separation from Kouki, Kaori was surprised to see someone still standing in the foyer… It had been a while since the majority departed to have a look around, hadn’t it? So why was this girl still standing right out in the open?
Tumblr media
“Excuse me,” Kaori greeted, approaching Nariya from the side, “but are you alright? You seem a bit… Out of sorts. Though, I suppose that’s not too terribly strange, given the circumstances.”
She smiled at Nariya, unaware the other girl could not see it. Though she couldn’t place a name with her face, Kaori was certain she had at least seen her while looking up information on her classmates. What was her talent, again..? Hm… She would just have to ask.
Nariya had almost gotten tired of waiting. Yet her pride held on as she stood, smiling all the while. Perking up every so often when she heard approaching footsteps, only to wilt slightly inside when she was simply passed by. How long was this gonna take?
But just as she had this thought, finally someone approached her, albeit from the side. Though she already noticed Kaori’s approach, Nariya pretended she didn’t notice till the other girl finally addressed her. She then turned to face the heiress, her dress rustling slightly as she moved. Oh? Was this person concerned for her?
Tumblr media
“Hm? Yes?” Nariya’s voice raised slightly in feigned surprise, “Oh... Yes, I am alright. Thank you for the concern, however.” Nariya smiled, curtsying slightly before continuing. “I’m glad you came to address me. As you might guess, I am lacking in the sense of sight. Everyone has been moving about so quickly, it has been much of a bother for me to keep up, so...” Nariya trailed off before letting out a defeated sigh.
Tumblr media
“It’s all such a mess, what purpose have we to have been brought to this strange place? I wanted to get answers, but in my state, I’m rather useless at that.”
Another sigh and a shake of the head.
“Oh, but where are my manners. Forgive me for prattling on like this. I am Nariya. Katabukiyama Nariya. How might I refer to you, dear friend?”

Jarred to attention by the sudden bout of yelling, Nariya tilted her head inquisitively. Quite a loud individual has made their presence known. How convenient for her. Though, she did not know if now was a good time to step forward and introduce herself to the seemingly irate owner of the booming voice. But she supposed it was better than simply standing around. And so with purposeful strides, Nariya made their way towards the Banchō. Doing her best not to bump into any others along the way, Nariya gave brief apologies for when she did. But after a few moments, Nariya finally found herself at the source of the yelling. She was surprised to find the source of the noise to be at a lower level than her in height. Then again she supposed she wasn’t one of small stature either, as her heels offered her a few inches more than her actual height. Clearing her throat, Nariya smiled.
Tumblr media
“Ah, excuse me, please pardon the interruption...”
She paused for a moment to make sure she had gotten the loud one’s attention. Nariya then curtsied into a bow elegantly and with ease, she looked up in the general direction of where she’d imagine the banchō to be.
“I am Nariya... Katabukiyama Nariya. Perhaps you’ve heard of me? Mayonaka no Siren... Regardless, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance... How may I address you?”
She paused before rising to a neutral standing position once more.
Tumblr media
“I heard you were rather... Upset. I can only empathize. We are all in the same situation. However, is it wise to point the finger of blame at those whom seem to be no different from yourself and I? For now, let us make light conversation. Perchance we find ourselves all allies rather than enemies right off the bat, yes?”
a rude awakening // prologue reaction + open // banchō
Living a life the way that Banchō had thus far means that they were no stranger to the unexpected. A left first blow instead of a right, underhanded techniques, a wrench in the gears, they were all familiar to the delinquent.
Of course, being used to the sudden unexpected meant nothing when you were blindsided. Such as it was, waking up in a strange bed in their day attire, in a room they didn’t recognize and was frankly a real style clash with the kinds of things they were accustomed to, and no less, besides quite the odd figure who was content to simply ogle the stranger beside them was pretty jarring.
And I mean, assuredly the pair must have had similar ideas going through their heads, as the Banchō also simply stared through their crooked shades at their abruptly-announced roommate for the few minutes the pair occupied the room before the announcement. In most situations, of course, the fighting spirit in him would have challenged that gaze, but waking up somewhere odd turned out to be pretty good at knocking them out of whack. Sufficiently, that gaze that met the odd purple kid (not knowing their name, that’s a sufficient way to describe them) was that of someone who had just woken up, and was at about 10% of their normal processing power. Banchō‘s face would, if attuned to metaphorical concepts, remind one of a very slow, old computer, and the full 120 seconds it would take to get past the ‘welcome’ screen as it slowly started up, or perhaps the dial tone one would hear after staying on the phone far too long on an empty line.
Once the announcement popped, however, this too popped the Banchō straight out of bed, hopping up quickly and stepping with a purposeful stride out to the foyer, all the while still kind of processing their situation.
And I mean, it was kind of chaos when they arrived.
There was that staring kid again, and they looked over there for a second, adjusting their sunglasses with an assured glint against the lights, and somebody had just hopped off of some big statue in the center, and was someone hiding under the stairs?
Banchō had been prepared to assert their place and start getting answers, but I mean, they were in a pretty easy-to-disorient state, and most of these kids looked just as confused as they felt, but they couldn’t let this slide, so they shouted -
Tumblr media
“Hey, I don’t know which one of you PUNKS decided it was a fun idea to mess with ME, but know you’re fuckin’ done for once I find ya. Y’hear me? THIS ISN’T SOMETHING THE BANCHŌ OF IKEBUKURO‘S GONNA LET SLIDE.”
With that, Banchō cracked his knuckles as if to punctuate their point. Voice having finished bouncing off of the walls, they stalked out, back the way they came, presumably to investigate the rooms on the other side of the dorms.

Blind Faith || Prologue || [Reaction + Open]
Needless to say, Nariya was confused. Confused and very, very disorientated. Having woken up in a completely unfamiliar room was jarring to say the least, but to have woken up to the presence of another unfamiliar individual and that strange announcement to top it all off? Nariya was feeling uneasy to say the least. But seeing as the first person she met as she woke wasn’t a bad fellow, both Nariya and her new acquaintance made their way towards the foyer. It was in situations like these that Nariya truly felt hindered by her lack of sight. Yet the feeling of frustration and distress did not leave her as she and Ichiko arrived at their destination. Thanking the other for her help, Nariya slowly went on her way, the sound of her heels clacking against the floor with each tentative step she took.
She stopped, turning her head slowly as she tried to get a feel for the space she stood in. Every so often, she’d feel the presence of another brush past her, disturbing the air around her. But before she could even open her mouth to offer a greeting, they had already left her tiny field of perception. Nariya grasped her hands together and rested them at the front of her gown. The uneasy feeling filling her once more. How could she get someone to pay attention to her in a state like this? A true lady such as herself need not beg for the spotlight. It should all come naturally like a fish to water or a bird to flight. And so, she decided to simply wait. Smile and wait.

“.................”
... This was gonna take a while.

An Air Of Uncertainty
Although you catch a few others making their way out of their rooms at the same time as you, you don’t make conversation. What would you even say to someone in a situation like this, anyways? The journey to the foyer is for the most part made in silence. An eerie silence that filled you with uncertainty. What was waiting in there anyways? What did they want with you? The silence wasn’t helping the thoughts racing through your mind and your increasing feelings of dread.
Eventually, you made your way to a room that had to be the foyer.
Tumblr media
A large pair of double doors opened up into a grand room with bright red walls and a distinct checkerboard flooring. It almost looked like a chessboard, and a couple of chess piece statues reaffirmed this comparison. A grand spiral staircase was in the center of the room, though the bottom of either side was gated off, clearly inaccessible. The room was clearly too big, as you and…a lot of others fit comfortably within. All of you looked incredibly confused regarding the situation, yet maybe there would be answers soon.
So you waited. And waited.
And waited.
And waited. Eventually, some of you had gotten bored and wandered off. Still uncertain about the situation, you decide to follow suit. Might as well explore the place a bit - after all, if it was so pressing, someone would have been there.

Welcome to Flagfall Manor
Hope’s Peak Academy is a school known throughout the world for its reputation as one of the most prestigious academies in the world. Famous for its classes of students that have been hand-picked as the best of the best in what they do, it’s incredibly difficult for anyone to get an invitation unless they’re the absolute best.
And, luckily for you, it seems you are.
You received your letter just recently, and have been informed that the school year is to start promptly. And now, the day has finally arrived. You’re ecstatic; all of your things have been packed, you’ve planned just about every little detail, and off you go to bed, to wake up bright and early in preparation for your future.
Or, you would have, if you didn’t wake up in a bedroom that most certainly wasn’t yours. You’ve woken up disoriented and confused, and are both startled and surprised to see someone else in the room with you. Now, that’s just a bit weird. A bit dazed, you look around the room and suspiciously eye your new “roommate” once in a while. It’s nice, and either side is identical - with two beds, two dressers, and a shared bathroom in the middle. You pull yourself out of bed, about to go and question the other person about who the hell they are, before an unfamiliar voice rings throughout the room.
“Hello everyone! Congratulations, and welcome to the prestigious Flagfall Manor! Now, if you would be so kind, please make your way out of your rooms and down to the foyer!”
Well… That’s a bit unnerving. But, you do as you’re told, and you and your new… acquaintance leave the room and try and make your way to the foyer.
Roommates are as follows.
ROOM 1: Niru Nanzo and Bancho of Ikebukuro
ROOM 2: Nariya Katabukiyama and Ichiko Inuzuka
ROOM 3:  Taichi Akiyama and Soleil
ROOM 4: Henry Mullins and Ken Sugita
ROOM 5: Petit Fours and Kokoro Teishi
ROOM 6:  Verruct and Kouki Akimoto
ROOM 7: Toshiko Ryuzaki and Roxanne Kagome
ROOM 8: Oka Kanowari and Kaori Nakajima
