I know the real reason they put Morgana in all black once she turned evil was to make her look like a witch, but I headcanon that she wears black on purpose, as a symbol of perpetual grief for all the people Uther killed in the purge. Does anyone know this? No! But she walks around feeling like she's Saying Something and Making A Statement by dressing as a perpetual mourner.

3 least favorite character flaws go!

1. HATE HATE HATE characters with no spine. nothing will make me dislike a character as fast as someone who goes back on something they truly believe

2. this is sort of two in one but the specific mix of selfishness and arrogance gets under my skin so bad. Especially when they have no fathomable reason to think they’re more important than anyone else

3. and finally a complete unwillingness to listen to others. it doesn’t completely ruin a character for me, but if it’s particularly bad it absolutely has me yelling at my screen

3 Favorite character flaw go!

1. i love me a good stupid oblivious character. there’s nothing better to me than a character who has everything practically laid out in front of them and still misses it somehow

2. I LOVEEE when characters are avoidant to a fault. there’s just something so good about a character paralyzed by fear stuck in a misery of their own making by their unwillingness to just get something unpleasant over with

3. and finally i love characters who are just unbelievably bad at anything emotional. when they bottle up their emotions rather than deal with them and it all comes out at once>>>> when they’re terrified of vulnerability and therefore come across as cold because they would rather die than wear their heart on their sleeve>>>

the point is that arthur starts out as very potentially similar to uther even though there is already kindness in his heart, and then develops to grow further and further away from him, while morgana starts out as very potentially different from uther even though there is already ruthlessness in her heart, and then develops to grow more and more like him. in this essay i will –

OOOOH THIS IS A GOOD ONE

i think i have to go with time loop . there aren’t nearly enough merthur time loop fics but all the ones i have read have been absolutely incredible. there’s just so much potential there and especially since it fits perfectly into the canon universe i always love seeing different writer’s takes on it

and i feel like i have to give an honorable mention for body swap because every day i mourn how good a merthur body swap episode would’ve been
