In Amok Time, Spock says, "Captain, lock me away. I do not wish to be seen." And Kirk responds, "I'm trying to help you, Spock." And it's revealed he's taking Spock to Sickbay.
But, in the previous episode Operation: Annihilate, Spock breaks out of Sickbay only to be sedated, brought back, and restrained. Locked away, if you will. And it leads to Spock's, "Let me help," offering himself up as both possible sacrifice and test subject.

But! In the episode before that, The City on the Edge of Forever, we get the iconic exchange of:
Edith Keeler: Whatever it is, let me help.
Kirk: "Let me help." A hundred years or so from now, I believe, a famous novelist will write a classic using that theme. He'll recommend those three words even over "I love you."
Funny how certain phrases and events parallel or cycle back around between consecutive (by air date, not production code) episodes. Interesting. Fascinating, even. (I am fully aware of the caveat that my brain is seeking out patterns, I am lost in the Spirk sauce/soup/brainrot/whatever, etc.)

Kickstarter for the Amigurumi Makers!
Hi everyone! Sorry for the absence of posts on this blog again 😅 I was laid off mid-Feb and all of my brain space has been reserved for refreshing my skills and job-searching, but hopefully I'll be back to work soon and then I can queue up some more posts here! (It takes me hours... I also need to find a better way to do that...)
ANYWAY
I wanted to make this post about a Kickstarter that I am incredibly excited about!!!
Tumblr media
These Safety Eye Snappers that can be used to easily add safety eyes to your amigurumi without all the hand and finger pain!!!
As a chronic pain girlie myself, I started following this product the second I heard about it's existence lol
The kickstarter just went up so I wanted to mention it here for anyone who might be interested!
If you've never used Kickstarter before, please make sure you're informed about how it works! Research to your heart's content to make sure you're comfortable. The gist is that projects are all-or-nothing based on whether they reach their funding goal, so if you back a project that doesn't end up reaching it's goal, you don't receive any rewards you pledged for, but you also aren't charged anything.
As of writing this post, though, this Kickstarter looks to be fully funded!!!!
Note: I am not at all affiliated with this product or the team behind it, they have no idea of my existence, and I get nothing from any pledges anyone makes. I have not tried the product in-person myself at all. They don't know I exist. I'm just a girl who's incredibly excited about the existence of this product. Like I kinda wanted to cry when I found out about this because getting safety eyes on amigurumi is so hard and hurts so much :')
Here's the Kickstarter link again if you're interested, and I hope to get back to posting crochet patterns here soon! Hope you all are doing well! 💕💕💕🧶

In other news I've started MASH and my favorite thing so far is that everyone talks about Radar like he's just a sweet and naive kid but in practice he's an undetected little imp who's nearly puppeting Henry into doing whatever he wants and pulls just as much nonsense as Hawkeye and Trapper do but catches none of the heat for it. They've hardly ever shown them talking him into their schemes, he's just already a given participant in them every single episode and it cuts to the next scene of him with the forged paperwork he's tricking Henry into signing. That episode where they're pretending Radar is seriously sick to get Henry to transfer back and when the jig is up Henry is berating Hawkeye and Trapper and then says angrily "And you made Radar fake an illness?" Radar was not made to do anything he was perfectly ready to give his award-winning performance all on his own. There's another whole episode where Radar is just in the background openly robbing the place and dismantling a jeep piece by piece to mail home to himself. It's incredible.

Acrylic if you're using very warm water and work very quickly CAN be blocked... sort of. But it's not a fix-all and definitely wouldn't work for a sweater that was already stretched out by a heated dry cycle. That's just ridiculous. People who don't work with certain fibers shouldn't be giving advice as if they do!
You know those reviews that are like "this recipe sucked!! I tried to make a carrot cake but I replaced the carrots with watermelon, the flour with powdered sugar, and the salt with shavings from a rock I found outside! And it didn't work! The recipe SUCKS!!"
Fiber crafts is like that too.
"your pattern was bad. My sock didn't fit and didn't hold it's shape." You replaced the sock weight nylon yarn with bulky acrylic yarn and used needles 4 times bigger! It's not going to work!
Yarn suggestions for a pattern are not just a way for people to shill yarn or brag about using ~fancy~ yarn. If a pattern suggests wool you likely want to use wool. Not acrylic, not cotton, not silk. The fibers have different qualities and effects!
There are some replacements that work or some projects where replacements don't really matter, just like with cooking. You CAN replace eggs with something else in something's but maybe not an omelette. Or at least if you do don't expect it to come out like a regular egg omelette???
It's not elitist to say that what you're using isn't going to work for some projects!

Apparently people who don't have executive dysfunction think that actually working on something is the hardest part of doing something. And that's why they get mad that you call the rest of the project "easy" after you've finally worked through doing the plan and know what to do when you're working.
So when you're through with the epiphany of how to make it physically possible to make the thing you're making, and you're sharing the plan with excitement, because the hard part is over, and now you only have to get your hands moving and do it, they get mad at you like
"it's not that easy! It's a lot of hard work! >:C"
they mean it, because
to them, working is the hardest part.
They don't have to fight their brains to get started. They don't have to fight their way through making the choices, making the plan, making yourself make the thing. People who don't suffer from executive dysfunction think that the hardest part is actually doing the thing.
