( lost )
I wish I still had the seaweed bracelet my friend made me when we were kids. She spent forever braiding it just right only for my sea turtle to eat it right off of my wrist!

Life in the pod if I’m being honest. I love my pod they’re my family but getting out is good. Meeting others is good and you gain so much knowledge and experience if you just broaden your horizons and think outside of your bubble.

What reminds you of home?
I have a conch shell in my apartment and when I hold it up to my ear I can hear the ocean. I miss my home but I’m hoping London can grow to be my second home.

Justin raised a brow at her tongue slip, but said nothing, she can keep her secrets. Gods know Justin was living in constant hiding, with a few exceptions to that rule. But the Slytherin decided to just be blunt, “If you want me to ignore what you just said, please let me know. If you don’t… well it’s not like I’ll tell anyone. You’ll find that the Rangers are filled with all sorts, I think we may even have a muggle or two, but don’t quote me on that.” He strode forward towards the passage and tapped out a complicated beat as what seemed to be a storm drain became a cheerily lit tunnel. “After you,” he gestured and shook his head, “You’ll find friends among the Rangers my friend,” as he led them further down the tunnel they stopped at a second entryway. The first time he’d made contact with Camp London, with their sprawling underground tunnels and magical folk from all over the world had seemed a familiar wonderland. He was fresh from Hogwarts, settling down for the first time, tying himself to a home and a career, but Camp London. It reminded him more of the circus, more of home, and felt instantly comfortable. “I’ll warn you,” his grin was wry, “we’re a bit of an eclectic bunch, just stick close to me.”
Mele hated having to hide who she was. It was so much easier when the only people she was ever around were the ones who knew, but that had been absolutely suffocating. She felt like a goldfish stuck in a one of those awful 3 gallon fish bowls that wouldn’t allow her to grow to her true size. Leaving her Pod let her breathe freedom for the first time in her life but now her secrets felt like a prison of their own. “Well I wouldn’t want you to use magic to alter your memory so you can’t really forget. Just please don’t tell people. I’m pretty sure my dad would drag himself onto land to drag me right back home if he knew how awful I was at keeping it to myself.” She had always been the worst at secrets which is why her parents worried about her leaving the pod. Plenty years of ruined surprises at the hand of Mele had given them plenty of reason to be concerned for her well being. At least she hadn’t told any muggles yet. Wix knew of her existence but normal humans scared her the most. She watched Justin tap out the beat and tapped it out with her foot to try to help her memorize it. “Thanks.” Mele walked in and smiled at the idea of having more friends. Life had been lonely without her Pod but maybe she could make a land pod for herself. “Okay, will do.” Mele was surprised at how many people were there. She didn’t think that many people cared. She made sure to be right by Justins side so she wouldn’t get lost.

Justin raised a brow before smiling, “Yeah, Justin Grant, once more at your service sweetheart,” He could hear several cats meowing in the distance, no doubt Orenda had called them in with her wilf magic. “Oh you’re here for the Rangers!” His face positively lit up, mouth widening with a bright grin.“Yes, I’m a recruitment officer, c’mon I’ll show you in. You really like marine life right, you were so interested in my aquarium. One of my friends works with a merperson on her boat.” Justin moved her along down the slick cobblestone before stopping in front of what looked like a sewer cap and paused looking down. “Say, you’re not any kind of cop are ya?” he joked, it was a fair question to ask, the Ministry had their issues, but they hadn’t bothered sending spies like they do in America.
“Yeah! I just didn’t want to say it in case you weren’t. Can’t deny I’m a little loss though. I heard there’s supposed to be a passage under the Thames but I have no sense of direction on land. Feel like a fish out of water sometimes.” Not that she would even want to go into the actual Thames. The thing was so foul and polluted she was sure nobody would want to go in there. A true ecological travesty that had supposedly gotten better but not enough for Mele. “Another merperson?” Mele’s eyes were wide and bright with absolute joy at the mention of another merperson though she realized quickly her question could be construed as an insinuation that she herself was a mermaid but she was hoping Justin wouldn’t catch on to that. Sure he was probably one of the safer people to be out to but she always had her parents voice in the back of her mind reminding her to keep her secret. “Oh Poseidon no! I’m just a mer- um just a person who is really interested in the wellbeing of our environment and the creatures within it.” Mele was disappointed in herself for having the worst kept secret in the world.

There were days that Justin wanted to throttle Hayoon, and today was one of them. The Korean witch was supposed to meet him outside the London Camp, but had managed to skip out on him with only a Patronus charm sending the message that she’d be late. It was enough to set Justin back from his painful crush on the woman. The Slytherin strolled towards the entrance, tossing the flowers into the river with a mental call to the ducks loitering to enjoy the sunflower seeds as they swarmed the bouquet. He could already hear Orenda bitching to him about not feeding animals properly, she ought to be inside, how she got her rustbucket of a camper van across seas a Ranger gossip mystery. Looking up he raised a brow, there was that girl he’d shown the aquarium to months ago, he had seen her in passing but not spoken with her in a while.
Adjusting his bomber jacket he waved her down, “Mele! You’re looking a bit lost, any reason why you’re down here?” Maybe she’d seen one of the Ranger flyers, or heard something, gossip often ran circles especially in as small a world as Wizarding London.
“Oh!” she said in surprise. She hadn’t noticed him there. “Um, Justin right?” she was trying to remember their encounter but the biggest thing she remembered was the aquarium. Animal lover must mean he was here for the same thing, right? “Are you here for what I’m here for?” Mele knew it was supposed to be a bit hush hush so she didn’t want to just give it away in case Justin had no idea about the Rangers.

London was still largely a big and scary place for Mele. She was always worried about accidentally changing into her merform in front of the wrong people. She missed being with her pod and being able to be who she was without worry that someone would hurt her for it. There had been whispers and rumors about a meeting by the Thames through a secret bunker. She went there straight from the theater and Mele couldn’t deny that she was a little nervous. People there were supposedly understanding and welcoming to all. Working to protect the environment and all its magical creatures. Technically many considered her to be a magical creature and not a magical person. She was a bit lost trying to find the passage so she tried to look around to see if she could find someone looking for the same thing.

Her things temporarily forgotten Dylan watched in awe as the stranger floated her coffee back into the cup. She had seen a lot of strange things in her short life but this, this was something new. “I’m—” She stuttered, accepting the cup of literal ground-coffee from the dark haired girl, mouth left hanging half open. Dylan did in fact consider drinking the coffee for a half a second (or maybe a whole second) but in the end she dropped it in a trash can near by. Thankfully the coffee shop rarely ran out. When the girl began picking up her things Dylan’s attention snapped back to the moment. “Yeah, I think so. You? I didn’t get any on you did I?”

Mele hadn’t realized she had done anything weird. It was a magical place and she just used magic. Sure it was without a wand when it seemed like so many people here used their wand for everything. “Don’t worry I got that off too. Sorry I wasn’t able to save your coffee though. I still have to practice on the whole only get the watery bits and not solids too.” Her magic wasn’t as strong as other mermaids but she was trying hard. “Did it burn you or anything?”

To make the right choices in life, you have to get in touch with your soul. To do this, you need to experience solitude, which most people are afraid of, because in the silence you hear the truth and know the solutions.
