When You’re Gone is Bryan Adams song but which he invited Melanie in the late 90’s after meeting her Top of the Pops. The song became a top 5 hit all over the world and was Melanie’s first solo project.
Both artists still play the song at their concerts.

Never Be The Same Again was the 3rd single from Northern Star in 2000 and featured Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. This was Mel’s first number 1 single as a solo artist and it topped the charts all over the world.
Even though the video includes some elements from Iceland the video was filmed in California, US. The calm idea for the video came from Melanie herself.
Lopes passed away sadly in April 2002 but Melanie has included the song in the setlist of her every tour.

I Turn To You was the smash hit and 4th single from Mel’s debut album Northern Star in 1999. By then it was clear what a multitalented and diversed artist Melanie was.
The song was written together with Rick Nowels and Billy Steinberg. Several remixes of the song helped the song’s success.

First Day Of My Life was Mel’s number 1 hit in several European countries in 2005. It was a song originally written by Guy Chambers and Enrique Igleasis and recorded in Italian by Andrea Bocelli.
The song was not actually on any of Mel’s albums but Beautiful Intentions (2005)and This Time (2007) were re-released with the hit ballad on it.
Can you believe this beauty was NEVER released in UK?

In 2012 Mel released a cover album The Stages including famous tracks from various musical theatre shows and films which she produced with Peter-John Vettese (Reason, The moment you believe).
One of them were I Know Him So Well which she sang with co-spice Emma Bunton which the two promoted quite nicely on British television. Their voices sound so good together!

Who I Am was released in March 2020 from much anticipated new album which release date no one knew yet then.
The song rose on the charts quickly and the fun video reached 2 million views also. I think this song describes the best what the new album is about, finding and accepting yourself as you are.
Even though being a pop-dance song it’s much deeper than on a first listen and the lyrics are very inspiring, don’t you think?

After releasing Rock Me only in Germany, Think About It was the first official international single from Mel’s 5th studio album The Sea in 2011.
The dance-pop song was born from a multiple collaborations and song writers included Adam Argyle, Daniel Davidsen, Jason Gill and Mich “Cutfather” Hansen. The track was well received and succesful in many European countries such as Austria, Switzerland and Germany.
The Sea came out 4 years after This Time and was Mel’s first album after becoming a mom. The album included many fresh collaborations and diverse styles. Many critics thanked her evolved vocals and interpretation and pointed out that if The Sea had been released instead of Reason (also with 4 years gap to Northern Star) her solo career might have taken a total different direction.

Rock Me launched The Sea era in 2011. The song was official theme song for German TV channel ZDF’s coverage of the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The music video was filmed in Manchester. Did you know Mel choreographed the dance moves for the video?

Blame It On Me is a true fan favorite! The fun video reached 2 million views on Youtube rather quickly.
It was this second single from Mel’s then upcoming album that really proved the sound the album was gonna have. Melanie has repeatedly mentioned the affect of the Spice Girls Stadium tour in 2019 as an inspiration to the album’s fun, poppy, dance theme - and it all fits Mel like a glove doesn’t it?

If That Were Me was the fifth and final single from Northern Star in 2000.
Written also with Rick Nowels the song made an important statement of homelessness.
At its best it reached top 20 -30 in most European countries and received mixed reviews. However at this point Mel had proved her spot on the pop scene as a solo artist and her talent as singer outside of the Spice Girls. Northern Star ended up with the sales of over 4 million copies  and two number 1 singles + almost 80 weeks on the official UK album chart.
