Prior to yesterday's volume squats, I spent approximately 10mins on the foam roller actively rolling over the areas I felt that needed some work. It's a modality I should implement more often and for a longer period of time also. - @optimumnutrition #optimumnutrition @adidas #adidas

Just some of the movements I used in today's heavy back and biceps (pull) session. Today's focus was on horizontal movements aka rowing movements but I do include a couple of supersets so I can add some vertical movements into the session also. Concentric and eccentric portions of just some of the push movements I hit today. It's been a hot minute since my last post it seems!! Here are just some of the static stretches/ yoga poses I held post workout whilst sipping on a protein shake. - As you can probably guess, it was a lower body day so I gave my glutes, hams, quads, hips, adductors, lumbar spine a chance to stretch out for 10-15s twice each. - It's definitely a component many of us neglect due to time commitments etc but if we were smart enough to manage our time slightly better, we could all benefit greatly! - @bulkpowders_uk #bulkpowders #performancedelivered

This morning was spent watching the remainder of Federer vs Djokovic going at it @australianopen tennis whilst cooking breakfast, preparing some steak for lunch, and some pasta for after coaching this evening. Been adding some light cardio into my sessions this week and first impression is only positive. - Today was a Back and Biceps (Pull) day so the use of the rower was preferred due to the motion and muscles it was warming up. I supersetted a minute of rowing at a heart rate zone of 1 or 2 (light intensity 50-70% of HRmax) with 10reps of a bodyweight pull up variation on a waist height horizontal bar with my body directly underneath the bar to emphasise the pull up movement rather than a row motion. I completed 10 rounds with the rest time being the walk from the rower to the horizontal bar and back. - This is a great way to work primarily on promoting fat metabolism as the heart rate is relatively low when utilising the cardio machine, and adding more volume into the targeted muscles of the latissimus dorsi, rhomboids, trapezius, teres major, with some biceps activation also when using the pull up. Furthermore, it's also a great way to start getting the fundamental motor control of the pull up motion itself. - Give it a go and let me know how you find it!
