Hải Phòng Food Tour Personal Review

Needed some place to archive this hell of an essay, and I remember Tumblr is a thing so here we are, reviving my Tumblr account.

Tried to bold the word "Personal" in the title but it doesn't stand out as much on mobile. So just in case, these are just my personal reviews/opinions (though I do include a few others' opinions as well) and consult these at your own risk ig.

1. Bánh mỳ Khánh Nạp @ 192 Hàng Kênh

Visited this place first. Apparently, Cột Đèn is a better-known brand, but this one has been around for longer and their breadsticks are supposedly better. My mom has always bought breadsticks here and brought it home whenever she visits HP.

Anyway, same thing, we only visited and bought the breadsticks to go. Didn't get to have a proper look at the shop but it seems pretty small, doesn't seem like there's any place to sit (though I guess you can stand outside, but still, not much space). The place is near a T-junction so if you go by car (like I did today), you can freely wiggle around without much problem.

I suppose it's also worth mentioning that we went there in the morning (around 9? 10? am), so it's not as crowded, because I heard the shop can get really busy at times and you'll probably have to wait for a bit, especially if you're buying a large amount.

2. Chè dừa dầm - Cà phê cốt dừa cô Hằng @ 124a Lam Sơn

Went to this place next. The street is quite narrow, and it's also a market, so it's a bit hard to move around here, even with motorcycles. Still, you can ask for help with parking and the owners will help you out if you're going by car.

Only tried out 2 drinks (desserts more like?) at this café: Chè dừa dầm and Cà phê cốt dừa (I'm too lazy to find the proper translation for these but one is a sweet soup and one is coffee, both have coconut). To be fair, they are the most recommended ones, and they are indeed really good. Chè dừa dầm is pretty sweet. Some people may dislike the sweetness but I kinda have a sweet tooth, so I love it. I like cà phê cốt dừa. The coffee taste is not too strong (again, some people, like my mom, may not like it as much), so it's quite perfect for me. The amount of jelly and boba is a tad bit unnecessary but eh, I don't mind it that much.

3. Bánh đa cua Bà Cụ @ 51 Lạch Tray

Stopped here for lunch. There was another place nearby that was also recommended, but we didn't try it out because it's a bit more miserable than the one I went to (sounds kinda elitist honestly now that I think of it, but well, it's my mom's decision). So yeah, just for references, you (or I) can try out the place at 48 Lạch Tray next time.

Wide street, plenty of space for parking. The place can be easily recognised as the sign uses pretty vibrant colours (during the daytime at least, not sure if there are lights for nighttime but looks like there are?).

The food itself is... meh. Had Nem cua bể and Miến cua thập cẩm. Nem cua bể is like grinded crab meat with bean sprouts, wrapped in batter then fried. It was alright. It's big, it has a nice smell and taste, tho a bit bland, and also rather expensive. About miến cua thập cẩm (vermicelli noodles with crab meat and also a gazillion extra things), we had it with some absurdly big Quẩy (fried dough). The noodles weren't as soft as I would've expected, and that's a huge minus. The broth and meat were decent. All in all, I'm not very fond of what had for lunch.

So uh, yeah, that's really it. Really should have visited more place to eat, like at least a seafood restaurant or sth, but we had plans to go elsewhere, so we just went there instead.

Kinda made this so that if I have the chance to go again, I know what to look for and to avoid. Also used some others' advice while on the trip, I'm gonna put them here, especially when I have not tried them all.

osu! diary, 3rd december 2022

so i've been grinding osu! quite a lot during the past week, when i definitely should have studied more, especially when mid-terms are coming up, in fact, i have one tomorrow morning, but i'm here writing this lol

also i titled this "diary", but this is probably a one-time thing, like yeah yeah, diary in vnese is nhật ký, and nhật (meaning "day") implies the daily aspect of it, but hey, i can't be bothered to write sth daily, not like i have enough ability or linguistic skills to write so much ._.

so yeah, like i've said before, i've been grinding a lot recently. specifically, this is the graph showing the number of plays in the past year

November: 175 plays

December: 59 plays (keep in mind we're only 3 days in)

so yep, the future's not looking so bright LOL

the main reason why im playing so much is because i've got a new laptop, so i'm kinda abusing the storage and specs upgrade from my last laptop

and... on the topic of storage, here we have the amount of storage i've spent for storing the beatmaps

i feel fortunate because i'm currently only into play osu!standard, and not other game modes as well, because god knows how much more storage it's gonna take up

but yeah the first few days when i first installed the game, i mass downloaded the beatmaps. i just looked up some popular artists and download all the beatmaps of the songs that i know. to the point that osu literally temporarily blocked me from downloading any more beatmaps 💀💀💀 they quite literally shouted at my face that i need to stop downloading maps and play more...

of course, after playing for a bit and waited until the next day, i could download more beatmaps again 😈 so as of now, we end up with

i have no idea if i'm gonna be able to play all of them. obviously there are also beatmaps from other game modes, and there are 6-star, 7-star beatmaps which i don't think i'm gonna ever have enough skills to play them. i might need to filter them out sometime, for now i can't be bothered to do that, especially when they don't take up that much space in my hard disk.

there's kinda one problem tho, it's when i try to press the Z and X keys on this laptop, but it's a membrane keyboard, and this laptop also happens to be really slim too, so pressing the keys down feels very shallow. i find it really annoying at first typing on this keyboard, still does now, but im more used to the feels. but yeah, it feels kinda weird having to spam these two buttons playing osu!, and since the laptop in general is so fragile, i always feel like i'm damaging the keys somehow. so i might get specialised keycaps just for this game idk (if i do, that would be extremely concerning actually)

and so the grinding starts, i played some maps that i used to love playing on my old laptop, also tried out some new maps, most of them are songs that i'm already familiar with, so i tend to not have a lot of problem with the rhythms

one of the really good songs that i've downloaded and have played recently is lily allen's fuck you. honestly, the song itself is amazing. the beatmap, well, it's a little bit slow, so i had to do put some mods in, specifically HR - hard rock, making the circles smaller and faster and DT - double time, increase the speed of the song and the beatmap by 1.5 times i think (yeah i know it says double but that's how the mod works ig)

honestly that was pretty challenging to me already, especially when the tempo of the song is 1.5 times faster. but it also pays off with a good amount of pp (let me stop you horny mfs right there, it's performance points) and rank, and ofc had quite a bit of fun playing it, and a bunch of adrenaline as well.

another beatmap is sesame street's cookie butter choco cookie, it's basically ppap, but for kids

the beatmap was just the first minute when elmo and cookie monster was singing. there are also quite a lot of difficulties to choose from, so i just played a lot of that song, not to mention because i'm also kinda grinding for stats, and i tried a difficulty that's a bit harder for me, so yeah just imagine having elmo and cookie monster "awh" harmoniously in your ear three times each time the song plays and have that repeat for about 15-20 minutes...

truly traumatised

it kinda pays off tho, i got a 2nd highest on my PB leaderboard, and im now in the 600k (ofc, not a lot, but still sth)

i enjoyed it a lot, i've always loved rhythm games, and osu! is an awesome game, despite it's clearly contributing to my highly likely, upcoming dramatic academic downfall, but hey, circle clicking game is fun, you can't blame me alright?

Spotify Wrapped 2022

ah shit here we go

i was like an hour late or sth? tbh i expected a push notif (i think they did that last year?), but well, i got it

yeah i just listen to pop, mostly, i do try other genres from time to time (68 genres in total according to spotify), but it's still not that much compared to pop

also what the hell is hollywood genre and how did it get into my top 5

that's... a lot? idk, i do use spotify quite a bit, and being top 3% in the country is quite sth i think?

ah this one, i was so hooked and had this one on loop for quite a while, still can do that now, just not that often, it's such a good song, im not surprised

and i think only this was played only a couple of times when i was actually sad and in the mood? idek, it's just a good song in general

also is that total streams the amount i've played the song this year or on Jan 21st?

all good song, i don't remember having listened to safe and sound that much, but idk, and im surprised yoasobi's didn't get higher on the list, but maybe that was more last year

also i thought i listened to other alec's song more than six feet apart... like that's not even my favourite song by alec, there are way better songs of his like match in the rain, water fountain, change my clothes, speakers, nuance, etc. but i suppose that's how the algorithm works

ah, kinda saw this coming, top 3% is pretty impressive ngl, but considering the size of the fanbase, 3% is probably not much, as a quick look on twitter there will be a bunch of people who are in top 0.5%, even a friend of mine is in there

hmmmm kinda true, i do tend to look for songs that are trending, or that people are talking a lot about, especially ones that are very recently released

oh that's it? that was, kinda short? like it has all the basic information that is needed to wrap up a year, but i still kinda want more information, like bruh i spent 35k minutes on your app and that's all you're giving me? pretty sure previous years have more information and all, not to mention sometimes the black in the background blends in with the black text, literally unreadable

What He Wrote - Laura Marling (18th): omg this song, found it via a music twitch stream but had it on loop for so long, it's simple yet amazing, i can't begin to describe the feelings i got from that song

3 out of 4 songs from the OST of Story of Yanxi Palace are in the playlist lmao, and all in top 25

All the Alec Benjamin songs I mentioned above are also in this top 100 lol, like I mean understandable, but still way lower than I expected, like Speakers is only 58th

huh so like, idk, this text box pops up with a title and content and now i feel like i need to write long ass essays in here

my intention is just to use this in case twitter dies, but then even if it doesn't actually die i might just completely move over here, twitter seems like it's gonna be a hell hole with elon taking over, besides this place seems fun ngl

i've made this account quite a while ago, but only used it for a few days before abandoning it completely, well, that is, until now, but yeah, had to reset most of the stuffs i did on here before, mess around with the profile customisation a bit (holy shit tumblr has awesome customisation, i might just add a bit more to the profile if i find the time to)

probably gonna take a while to get used to it, but so far i kinda like it
