atimelesslullaby:
“You may not be of human descent, but you certainly do look very nice.”
She’d keep an ear out for any stories of him. Her own father wasn’t too well liked either. Not by the other races of Hyrule. He looked down upon anyone who wasn’t of Hylian descent. She could remember being a child, before the evil king finally said ‘no more’. How others would argue with him about how he acted. And he wasn’t hearing any of it. Very sad for her, because Zelda loved her father dearly. But he was so… what could she even call it?
Unfair?
Piccolo certainly looked good, though. There was no denying that. Tall, and strong. Green was the color of grass. Of trees in summer, and on occasion, the skies in winter. It wasn’t hard to keep a smile around someone like him. Just looking at him was enough to inspire her. Inspire her to be stronger. And even if she lost to him in the coming match, that would be just fine. Because he’d be a worthy opponent.
Someone who wouldn’t go easy on her just because of the way she looked.
“My father was a bit infamous himself. I still work to this day to make up for the mistakes he made.”
On top of her own mistakes.
“ He was not well liked in Hyrule. When the castle was attacked, my father was the first to fall. And as painful as it is to lose a parent, I can understand why it was done. He was so cruel to anyone who was not of my race.”
a slight unease grew on piccolo ‘ s cheek , a faint pink contrasting with his green complexion . not because of the compliment itself , but rather from being complimented at all . especially so after admitting to his father ‘ s dubious actions .
though it then made sense she would not judge him as hastily as most , considering she shared that common ground . with the slight nuance being king piccolo not being prone to show discrimination in his rampages .
and both of them seemed the realize the wrongs of their elder ( and for piccolo, his very own deeds , before his redemption ) . they could at least try and right them , or make amends however they could . a rather reassuring thought that zelda didn ‘ t plan on being the same . she sure seemed wise beyond her ( assumed ) years .
he let out a low sigh after that pondering . arms crossed , his head tilts towards the royal . ‘ i guess power does corrupt . or at least goes to the head . ’ he could think of maybe king furry being reasonable , but who knew what shady secrets were kept behind his desk . under his breath , piccolo mutters his contentment for abdicating to his own inherited throne . ‘ after this tournament ends , if some events have it meet again , i ‘ ll just be hoping you ‘ re still following that mindset , heh ’
his eyes perked up toward the fight . fierce as ever , and the outcome wasn ‘ t that predictable . here ‘ s hoping he gets a shot at whoever is next in line after the hylian . and if she won ? well . then he ‘ d root for her , and cross his fingers his loss would not be in vain .
‘ but it ‘ s too early to talk about the end of it yet . are you confident in facing the strongest fighters on this planet ? ’

❝–Piccolo?❞
Her tone is surprisingly light, given her mood. She now takes the moment to peer beside her, coming face to face with one of her childhood mentors. Despite their connection, she she appeared surprise by his initiative to check on her. She blinks, feeling a wave of shame wash over and douse the angry fire, yet the kindling still lingers. Stubbornly, she looks away again.
❝It’s fine, you don’t have to worry about it. It’s not like they can get infected anyway.❞ Her shoulders roll, allowing for more blood to drip down carelessly. ❝…❞ Her gaze flickers back to him for one moment, and she feels another twinge of shame. He’s doing this out of concern for her, she ought to at least show him respect. With a slight sigh, she reaches for the fabric, wrapping it around her entire frame instead of wrapping the wounds individually. It provides more comfort than warmth.
❝… Thank you. I’ll be just fine after a little while. I’m just– I’m just mad.❞ She grips the fabric even tighter. ❝That… was just as bad as last time. Maybe even worse. I could’ve actually done something and I didn’t.❞
of course she couldn ‘ t get infected , but that was no reason to give it up and be put down . there was no shame or lost pride in accepting help . as for the rest , there was no reasons to let guilt swallow her whole .
a stern gaze is cast over nina , not to scowl her , but what expressions tend to grip him when he speaks seriously and means it . in contrast to his look , his tone was more mellow . he tries to be reassuring , calm down her temper against herself . ‘ regardless of cell ‘ s new life , at the core he ‘ s a monster . and he outright showed he was still one . so don ‘ t blame yourself for his actions . even less for last time . . . ’
piccolo stood up from the bench , a hand gently reaching out at nina ‘ s shoulder , careful not to startle her . ’ you did everything you could , nina . and i know how frustrating it can be to still be powerless despite giving it your all . ’
that said , he knew it was best letting her sort out her own emotions . saying things once was enough , repeating himself wouldn ‘ t make things that more efficient . he ‘ d let her ponder his words , still giving her a last honest piece of his mind before going his merry way.
‘ i have someone to meet . and i ‘ m sure someone else will want to see you . so in the meantime , don’t forget this : you ‘ re still stronger than you ever were , and only keep growing in potential . i ‘ m proud of you , ninazu . and so should you be . ’

“Those sound good,” Mariko agreed, “rose dumplings it is.” Once placed her order she turned to give a curious look at Piccolo’s comment, but upon hearing his question, she immediately the Namekian with a resoluted frown.
“I am Mariko!” She replied, almost as if wondering if that wasn’t her was an insult. She groaned and rolled her eyes. It wasn’t his fault – she was just still not used to seeing familiar faces as… Unfamiliar. She huffed. “Avira is the other one. The third weird red-haired woman.”
She sank into the bench, giving Lila a sceptical look upon hearing her encouragement. She wasn’t sure whether it was her nervousism or the fact that, back in Conton, the purple-haired woman didn’t seem as confident about her skills; either way, it was hard to believe those encouragements. “Maybe the match won’t be much of a show, though,” she muttered under her breath, only to startle when the baker commented on her armor.
“Uh, I–” Her eyes ran at Piccolo with a panicked look and her fingers instantly gripped on the gi he had created for her before she wheeled her head back at Lila. “I– T-That’s just my job outfit. Nothing fancy,” she laughed, nervously. “I actually am from Earth, yeah!”
Well, that wasn’t a lie, after all.
@majunicr @synthetixviola
at the girl ‘ s reaction over her name , piccolo gave out a light chuckle . how easy she could take offense . her defensive behavior about mere outfits only furthered his amusement . she seemed young , perhaps inexperienced even , but it was made up by her amount of spunk in her attitude . that kind of resolve is a quality too many lacked .
though , she dug herself deeper in her hole with that much justifications . not that the namekian cared enough yet to dig deeper into it , and investigate whether she set foot on a slippery terrain or was just honestly awkward .
‘ your job outfit ? speaking of which , you ‘ ll get it back later , don ‘ t forget to come see me . ’ while her armor was tacky , he wasn ‘ t too able to judge on fashion tastes . he glanced towards lila , heeding her words . ‘ i guess these are becoming quite popular . just too burdensome for most people . ’
with that , his heels clicked , facing away from the two others . a quick halt before taking his leaves , he had to get a look at his next opponent in the fight . head tilts backward , addressing a last gaze . ‘ lila , i ‘ ll let your staff deliver the food once it ‘ s done . and you , show what you ‘ re really capable of , mariko . ‘

“The feeling is very much mutual.”
He wouldn’t go easy on her, and she wouldn’t go easy on him. Fun as it was meant to be, and even though she wasn’t looking to win, it would have soured the fun for one person to let the other win. Despite the fact she was princess, she wanted a fair fight. She didn’t want people going easy on her because of her natural grace, and beauty. The guards did that all the time during training sessions, and it really disappointed her.
“I am from a different planet than this. The country I live in is called Hyrule. We are currently in an era of peace, after seven long years of war. It is through a magical artifact that I can visit other planets. I could not do so with my magic alone.”
Zelda held her hand out for him to see. And by accessing her magic, the symbol was clearly noticeable.
“It is a very special magic. Much more powerful than I would have ever been without it. It is a piece of a relic called the Triforce. It will grant the user whatever they so desire.”
Zelda was willing to give out information about her, and her kingdom, but she made sure not to talk about what kinds of things she could do with that magic. She hadn’t even used a fraction of her power in that last fight. Just the basics, like Din’s Fire. Granted, it had also gotten her a little hurt. When Wren had kicked her side like that, it left a bruise. That woman could kick!
“Such is not the case anymore.”
The glow on her hand vanishes, as she rests it back at her side.
“One of the pieces is sealed away for as long as I live. What of you? Where are you from? Are you also from this planet?”
good to know . even if she used a foreign power , he wanted to see everything she could stir up with that .
he ‘ d have show surprise at the mention of alien origins , if he had none to himself. or if there hadn ‘ t been so many other aliens going around as well . . . he was however mesmerized by the light leaving her hand . he could feel a strong energy in the surroundings . while she may have a lot of skill , especially to handle such power , the artifact would make her a potent threat .
despite his eyes being riveted onto the gleamer , his ears perk up , still intently listening to the tale . “whatever they desire” . that so called triforce could be akin to the dragon balls , then . but making its holder stronger on top . sounds like the triforce could be both a blessing or a curse . no importance to it now though , it was sealed away . and so at her will the light became faint .
‘ that ‘ s more than simple magic tricks , then . . . as for me . . . no need to point it out , i ‘ m no human . and yet , i was born and grew up on this planet . on earth . i am of noble blood , too , but my father has an infamous history some might tell you about . ’
piccolo could’ve omitted that bit , but again , it was no secret for others . he accepted it as a page of his own life . there was even a slight air of pride in expression . he tries to keep the summary as short as can be , despite all the many things he went through with goku and other figures .
‘ after some “incidents” it turns out i ‘ m actually from people known as the namekians . heh , perhaps you ‘ ll get to see the young dende . another like me , and guardian of the planet , at that . ’

the last horrific display of cell nearly killing her left piccolo worried . he took the decision to check on ninazu after such a grueling bout . not just her physical injury , but also her mental state . of course , she wasn ‘ t in a mood for warm reunions .
piccolo recoiled some , as to avoid any involuntary physical outburst . when was last time he saw her in such shambles ? likely during the cell games . always that bastard . . . it was not so surprising that brutal loss took a toll on her emotions . the namekian took not joy in witnessing her distress , not back then with her and gohan and not now .
what if he had prevented her from stepping into the ring once seeing cell ‘ s name on the board ? too late to ponder other scenarios now .
he sat onto the bench , close enough for chat but still leaving enough of her personal space free . all that blood dripping . was she so caught up into her despair to let it flow away . . .
not having been gifted healing abilities , he resorts to more typical means . sacrificing a big enough part of his cape , he stretches his arm towards the girl , piece of fabric resting upon his green palm . hopefully she ‘ d be reasonable and not ignore it.
‘ i don ‘ t have the need for anything . on the other hand . . . ’ a composed tone , held low as to avoid too much outside stimulus . ‘ you should put that on your wounds , until you can heal them properly . . . ’
Utter humiliation. That’s what burns in her veins, simmering alongside the deeply set anger that has yet to quell even after the fight has ended. It took the rest of her will power to lift herself off the dirt and drag a battered and broken body to the familiar vicinity of the infirmary. Any help that anyone offered was swiftly refused. In fact, she didn’t look anyone in the eye on her way back. Her eyes still burned a faint yellow, rage churning away in her body and motivating her movement.
Wordlessly, she plops onto a bench, resting her fists upon her knees. She heaves a few ultimately useless breaths that do nothing to soothe what stirs inside. Her injuries had yet to recede; she’s burnt out. At this rate, it’ll take quite a bit of time for her to return to normal in order for her to perform her job properly. Blood drips from open cuts, and she makes no move to wipe it away as it drops onto her skin, onto the floor.
A sudden flicker of energy catches her attention, and she knows for a fact without even looking that someone had arrived. She pays no attention to any other detail about it, and doesn’t bother looking up.
❝Don’t come any closer. Touch me, and I will break something. What do you want?❞

Mariko pondered on the offer. While Lila’s products did seem inviting, her mind was still locked on the upcoming fight, and she didn’t have much of a sweet tooth anyways.
“I prefer savoury stuff, but if you don’t have any… Just plain ones will be ok. Can’t risk a sugar rush and end up exhausted when my fight comes.”
She spotted a bench right next to the stand and let herself fall on it, sighing and resting her chin on a hand as she observed Lila’s helpers carrying the food. Her look shifted at Piccolo, and she quirked an eyebrow upon hearing him opt for sweet stuff. Sure, he probably couldn’t have salt being a snail-man or whatever, but still… The thought of the stern Namekian eating cookies or cupcakes stole her a snort.
“Bake him a cinnamon roll,” she suggested, giving Piccolo the largest, jeeriest grin she could come up with. The reference was probably going to go over the Namekian’s head, but the joke was still worth it.
She yawned and stretched her arms, trying to shake off the mixture of frustration and boredom that was taking over her. “Man, I wish my fight was sooner. You two were lucky.” She pouted. “By the time my turn comes, the adrenaline will be gone and no one will care for the fight anyways.”
@majunicr @synthetixviola
‘ a . . . cinnamon roll ? hm . let ‘ s give it a try then . . . ’ despite being born and living on earth , he mostly opted for simplicity . you can ‘ t bake that much in the wilds . . . when graciously invited in the son family ‘ s home , basic cakes made the trick .
as for the joke , he sure didn ‘ t catch onto it . but that stupid grin let him think he ‘ d be in for a wild ride . that was spelling disaster . whatever . he ‘ d put his fate in the hands of lila . if she was that good a baker , it wouldn ‘ t end up too badly . right ?
his hears drooped , gaze hesitantly returning to the lila . ‘ well . it ‘ s settled for a cinnamon roll . you know what to do . . . ’
as for the girl , she sounded somewhat pessimistic now . she oozed overconfidence just before . why that change of heart ? piccolo heeded her words , head tilting to his side where she stood . ‘ that left you more time to prepare , so maybe it wasn ‘ t so lucky to start sooner . besides , the excitement will return once you fight . ’ a quick peek towards the brackets . ‘ so . are you fighting mariko ? or are you mariko ? ’ a proper introduction at the horizon , maybe .

She was definitely watching.
Paying close attention to how both of them fought, as at some point she may have had to fight one of them herself. Zelda wasn’t in it for the sake of victory. It was for the sake of proving she was more than just a perfect glass doll. Even in her own kingdom, people looked at her as though the slightest misplacement would cause her to shatter.
It was wrong. With the evil king gone, there was no one who could best her in magical prowess. Not in Hyrule, anyway. She was hoping to find someone here who could really challenge her. So far, she hadn’t found it, but she’d also only competed with one person. Maybe this next guy would challenge her even further.
The woman blinks, as she hears a voice. Speak of the devil.
“That is correct.”
Zelda was quite pleased to offer him a smile. So this was the guy she’d be against next. He looked pretty good, not that she would go easy on him for that alone. He seemed to be in good spirits, or so she would assume from the sound of his voice.
“I must say, you were quite impressive out there. I am honored to have the chance to compete with you. But the most important thing is to have fun.”
the way she spoke and clothed herself definitely gave a regal augury . but she had more than proved she was willing to get her hands dirty in a brawl . perhaps the ushered rumors among the true were true and there was indeed a mystical warrior princess ; another of the fighters held a royal title .
her ethereal appearance was just that , and they could be treacherous . piccolo had better stay on his guard . despite her good manners , who knows what kind of trick she would pull with that ‘magic’ of hers . perhaps a modicum of chit - chats would let him scrape the surface and get some insight .
his smirk thinned into a light smile . even if he wasn ‘ t there to make friends , he could appreciate someone with less brutish manners and not as loud . and truthfully , he was intrigued .
of course , directly asking what she was planning on doing during the fight would yield no answer . and spoil the fun . yes , he too sought fun in spite of his primary motivation . now , maybe any hints of her true origins would be a little help . she seemed acquainted to nabooru and her people , but too different . a quick glance let piccolo notice pointed ears under her pristine hair , but she was no namek .
‘ this has its fun , i agree . however , i ‘ m here for a real fight . so i won ‘ t hold back on you and i expect you not to either . but tell me truly , where are you from ? ’

the CURRENT FIGHT provided quite the entertainment and a lot to STUDY . it could either end up an EASY WIN for cell , OR have the UNDERDOG overcome it . if the bio - android won though , that would not be pretty for ninazu and would make the rest of the competition ROUGH . fingers crossed he won ‘ t be a SORE LOSER again otherwise .
YET , piccolo had OTHER PRESSING INTERESTS . such as his very next opponent . someone he never met prior and seemingly FOREIGN, not unlike the gerudo . he saw her in the ring and an extent of her magical powers . he also had time to hear about her and her fabled , potential other PROWESS . but it was just that , FABLES .
that zelda was shrouded in MYSTERY , and he wanted to MEET her in the flesh , have a PEEK at what sort of character he ‘ d be against .
a CAPED figure step out of the shadows , SLOW steps tapped onto the cold concrete until he came face to face with her . he was SMIRKING , not so much a show off of confidence , but his own way to express EAGERNESS .
‘ so . you are my next opponent . zelda . isn ‘ t it ? ’

Piccolo’s reaction got a surprised frown from Mariko – but not too surprised. She knew enough about the Namekian to realise when his fits of tartness hid something else.
“Wow, chill,” she muttered, “what, you got a guilty conscience?” And then she grinned, adding: “Afraid someone might think you’re actually a do-gooder?”
She chuckled to herself, but was quick to put her guard back up when Lila intervened. “MJ?” She echoed, frowning in confusion. “Like what, Mary Jane?”
Wasn’t that the nickname of a character in some vintage comics she once checked on the internet? Or, wait… “Ah. As in, Ma Junior,” she grumbled, casting the baker a dry look.
The last time she had experience Lila’s humour it had been… Interesting. As in, not funny at all. But the woman didn’t show any sign of recognising her; either she was good a pretending, or she truly had no idea of who she was, Mariko thought.
She decided it was the second when the baker took an old communication device, something she had only seen in museums before; no Time Patroller would rely on someting so shabby. That wasn’t the same Lila from Conton, Mariko concluded. No reason to keep her animosity up; she was gonna opt for a safer, neutral approach instead.
“It’s fine. I have some time before my turn anyways.” She pondered on the offer, heaving a sigh when her stomach let out a slight groan. She really needed to eat something before the fight, she decided, resting a hand on her tummy. And all she could think of was a warm, steamy, juicy plate of…
“… Say, can you make dumplings?”
@majunicr· @synthetixviola·
how CHEEKY . her insuniations managed to make him feel slight EMBARRASSMENT . red starting to creep up on his green skin . she talked as if she KNEW him that well . did his REPUTATION fall so low ? he was better off brushing this away as quickly as he could . ‘ i just don ‘ t want you to get the wrong idea is all . now , i doubt you came here to analyse me . so don ‘ t get sidetracked ’
piccolo ‘ s eyes ROLLED with all that STRUGGLE over a simple name . calling him ‘ MJ ‘ was something , but thinking that stood for Mary Jane AT ALL . . . either way , he chose not to waste a comment on this .
he stood SILENT during lila ‘ s call . GOOD NEWS is that she had some back up and spare ingredients . he wouldn ‘ t be surrounded by an angry MOB yet .
SO , dumplings it was for the girl . what about him ? while not the most obsessed with food around here , he was still largely able to ENJOY a meal . provided it wasn ‘ t too filled with salt , his BANE .
now , as he said , he was no baker . and didn ‘ t have the habit to ORDER in any food . ‘ i ‘ ll settle for whatever that ‘ s sweet . you don ‘ t have to make anything fancy . you can let . . . ’ a quick glance at the girl , and a split second of hesitation , he still didn ‘ t catch her name after that many run - ins . ironic . ‘ . . . her pass first . i have more than enough time for the wait . ’

Uninterested in attending Cell’s fight, Mariko walked back to the sidelines once more. Her match seemed frustratingly far away, and the adrenaline from earlier was beginning to abandon her. She couldn’t let her energies drop like that: she needed a snack, and soon. The people who organised the event mentioned there was a bakery stand, where was it?
She wandered around until she spotted it, and truth to be told, it wasn’t exactly inviting: it looked cracked and old, a proper survivor of the first match. Well, as long as the food was good…
She noticed a couple of figures were busy chatting next to the stand as she headed towards it. One was pretty uncanny, with the white cape and green, pointed ears. The other was… Familiar. And when Mariko realised who it was, she barely held back a groan.
The weird Patroller, what was her name? Lila? Of all the people in Conton… Given their last meeting, Mariko wasn’t exactly thrilled to see her. But maybe there was hope. Maybe it wasn’t that same Lila. All she had to do was play it cool. And Piccolo’s presence was somewhat reassuring; while he wasn’t that same Piccolo from Conton, he had established a pretty kind attitude towards her. Grumpy, but kind, as per usual of him.
So she approached the two, casting Lila a quick, nervous glance, before rolling her shoulders and lifting her chin to ask, rather casually: “I was looking for the bakery stand. Do you know if it’s open?”
@majunicr·
‘ so an endless possibility of surprises ? this is going to be one tough guessing ga- ’ speaking of SURPRISE , one was headed THEIR WAY . ‘ we have some new company . ’ he notified lila .
on second look , it wasn ‘ t all new . it was THE GIRL piccolo gave a new OUTFIT to . though she held quite the CASUAL FRONT , he could SENSE some NERVOSITY about , just as before . did she feel that uneasy around people ? was it his own presence ? or even lila ‘ s ?
considering her REQUEST , it just occurred to him that the girl simply was DISPLEASED by the DESTRUCTION of the stand . . . indirectly caused by himself . the realisation made piccolo take a STEP BACK , arms folding together , fangs showing . whether this was directed toward him or not , the alien felt glared at ; putting him on the DEFENSIVE .
‘ don’t give me that look . . . i just helped fixing it before it makes a fuss when people and their saiyan appetite get hungry . that ‘ s it . . . i ‘ m just a customer as you are , so don ’ t ask ME . ’
kind of a STARK contrast from his previous behavior . he want to seem like someone that goes around helping everyone out of BENEVOLENCE . he just repaired what he did and would have NOTHING more to do with it . . . as for the sweets itself ? he was NO BAKER .

“Honestly, nobody needs a king. Or queen, for that matter. Monarchy is bullshit,” Lila declared, shrugging her shoulders. While his admission that he still planned on ruling the earth surprised her, she was admittedly certain that it was all for show– or at the very least, his intentions of ruling weren’t malicious like his father’s. Hell, she’d even say it was benevolent. “Props to you for being ambitious, but… do you really want to rule this dumbass planet so badly? This one? I mean, I like my home and all… but it’s kind of a shithole – and every goddamn alien that pops by keeps trying to destroy it! Seriously, what is up with that?”
She huffed in irritation, pursing her lips as she thought back on the various times the planet was besieged by intergalactic assholes. It’s like the earth had this way of attracting the most undesirable monstrosities, like moths to a flame. And you’d think with how often everybody failed, we’d stop getting invaded…
She sighed, shaking her head before turning her focus back onto her little shop. The cyborg tapped her chin with her index finger, before looking back towards Ma Junior with an affirmative nod. “Well, I’d say give it a shot – you’ve got the magic, so why not test it? Besides, think of this as training of sorts, especially since your next opponent wields magic as well…”
Lila paused for a moment, before quirking an eyebrow at the demon. “Think you can handle her, MJ? I’ve never seen her before, or her kind of fighting style… plus her magic is pretty slick. I bet you she’s got more abracadabra tricks hidden up her fancy sleeves.”
‘ tch , who knows on what side i will be next time we meet . ’ while his phrase was that of a potential threat , it came out in an utterly DISINTERESTED voice . the old habit to put up a STERN facade , it never left entirely . ‘ but as you say , for now , every problematic forces of the universe are somehow attracted to earth . or vice versa . . . . and since ruling a dead planet is meaningless , may as well help it . starting with a bakery stand , i suppose . ’
beneath his front , a barely perceptible smile appeared on his visage . piccolo came to ENJOY lending a hand to earth ’ s SAFETY . and the company of some of its denizens . speaking of which , it seemed there was more than anger in her cyborg shell . something GOOD , something worth SPARING . BUT the emotional talk would WAIT it out more .
head tilts toward the android at the mention of his NEXT OPPONENT , listening intently . MAGIC ? as in different from ki usage yet able to accomplish some things he does ? which likely includes more than . . . “zapping outfits” .
‘ do you expect her to have tricks that uncommon ? i don ’ t imagine she ’ ll turn me into a frog . . . yet , i can ’ t rule out even that possibility , huh . i don ‘ t know what repairing constructs would do against that , but fine . i ‘ ll have a gander at it . ’
piccolo BREATHES in , returning his whole focus on the debris . ‘ ridiculous ’ he thought to himself , for a second . ENERGY gathered at the tip of his finger , to be released upon the stand in shambles .
it was imprisoned in a bubble of LIGHT , thought only for a short moment . and back in one piece was the stand . pieces were REASSEMBLED , tightly enough to fill its purpose . while rough around the edges , decorations could always hide the JANKY part . that was no so bad of a FIRST , BLIND attempt .
after his ‘handywork’ , his hands rub together . he turns to lila , awaiting a second opinion . ‘ that should do , do you think ? '

“No job? Guess you don’t really need one being royalty, eh Demon Prince?” She lightly ribbed, pleasantly surprised by how fun the banter with Ma Junior was– considering he had come across as rather serious beforehand. Maybe the whole stoic shtick was to intimidate his opponents?
Or, maybe she was just so charming that she brought him out of his shell… and in fact, that was probably the explanation she was going to go for. If only to feed her massive vanity.
“Alright, so no construction work,” Lila hummed, tapping her chin thoughtfully. She glanced towards the remains of her stand, before looking away and towards a particular contestant who was walking away from Cell – the brunette chick (Mariko, wasn’t it?) who Ma Junior had magicked up clothing for, before an idea pinged into her head.
“Hey, can’t you just… hocus-pocus the stand back together?” She questioned, looking back up at Ma Junior with a quirk of her scarred eyebrow. “You know, like you zapped that chick’s weird outfit into another one? Would you be able to do that?”
‘ royalty ? ’ this earned a light , albeit no so amused CHORTLE . while technically still TRUE , and gave him some PRIDE , it wasn ’ t like it changed much of his LIFE . he was living alone in the wilds , generally secluded from the rest , and not in any position of power . ‘ i ‘ ll have you know , i ’ m not rolling in money . nor is there a throne for me . not that i need any . i have other things to do before ruling over earth . and the few remnants of my kind don ’ t need a king in their new home . ’
a lot of . . . EXPOSITION . which may or may not be OUT OF LEFT FIELD . " his people ". not so many people were aware of the namekians existence . but how shocking could it be for an ANDROID likely aware of the saiyans and perhaps other outworldly races ?
he watched over while awaiting to know how lila wanted to sort this mess out . when her request came , he didn ’ t protest but turned out rather SKEPTICAL . not a bad idea per say , ONLY . . .
‘ hm , so you witnessed that . but to be honest , i ’ ve seldom used that ability . and more importantly , never on objects . i can ’ t guarantee anything . but if you ‘ re in such a hurry . . . you tell me . . . ’

“Without a crowd to worry about, I promise you I won’t be holding anything back– though don’t be upset when I whoop your ass this time,” she agreed teasingly, smirking as she quirked her scarred eyebrow. His admission made her feel significantly better about her loss, considering he genuinely believed it had been that close– and honestly? It really had been; Lila was certain, that if she hadn’t panicked when she did, she would have blasted him out of the ring…
But then again, that could just be wishful thinking on her part now that she had the hindsight of the outcome.
Oh, well. Lila shrugged to herself, before following Ma Junior’s gesturing finger and blinking in mild surprise. Right, her bakery stand. It had unintentionally been destroyed at the end of the fight – or at least, she hoped it had been unintentional.
“Well, I would appreciate that,” she laughed lightly, though also gave him a curious expression. “But how are you going to fix it? Don’t tell me you’re also a part-time construction worker on your off days or something.”
‘ heh , just try . ’ he TEASED , a light smirk following suit . he knew she had the POTENTIALl to “ whoop his ass ” and he wouldn ‘ t be mad from losing a friendly match . he ’ d LEARN from it , in the WORST case .
but , that ’ d be for later . now , the stand . lila ’ s business hadn ’ t deserved such TREATMENT . and ( one thing he ’ ll never state outright ) he too could appreciate the SWEET delicacies she baked .
‘ not really , no . i can ’ t say i have quite any job . ’ what use would it be , when he could live off in the wilds , anyway ? get a CAR ? it had already proved to be a TERRIBLE idea . one after the other , his shoulders rolled , putting his limbs back in place and shaking up his sore muscle . ‘ we ’ ll just have to come up with something solid enough while the event lasts . and some elbow grease . ’

‘ wolverine ? . . . ’ he repeats under his breath , not getting the reference . that happens when you mostly live by the waterfalls . . . regardless , she sure hadn ‘ t lost her wits .
at the mention of a rematch , piccolo gave a nod . indeed , that could prove interesting . fighting in the arena was but a warmup , a way to see who could be worth the time . lila had more than done her part .
‘ it does sound good . i trust you to not hold back and not pull any punches . if you want my honest thoughts , i believe you had a chance at winning . ’
a genuine compliment . one she earned . anyway . . . his gaze can ‘ t help but stare back and forth at the mess he left behind . the destruction of her stand wasn ’ t quite something he had planned , nor that she needed . awkwardness simmers in , piccolo still feels obliged to at least offer a hand in that matter .
‘ now , before we resume any chitchat on the sidelines , maybe i could help with that . ’ cue a sharp fingernail pointing towards the chaos he had made .

"Congrats for winning your first round!"
‘ hm , thank you . ’ he responded idly , while adjusting his found again cape . a FEW person had bothered to congratulate him , when they weren ‘ t just staring from afar , after the DESTRUCTION of the arena . . . and bakery stand .
barely responsive at first , he finally turned head upon realizing this voice was FAMILIAR . ‘ oh , it ‘ s . . . you . ’ he didn ‘ t even catch her NAME . but she was hard to miss , in such a FLASHY getup .
‘ by the way , don ‘ t worry about your armor . i ‘ ll just bring it back after you ‘ re done here . speaking of which , when is your turn ? ’
