Someone reblogged your work from 2021, the Maedhros/Maglor art, and what appears to be Celegorm on Maedhros's shoulders, with color palette selections. Had to drop a line and tell you that I love them, that's all, love your work.
Thanks!

Imagine having a beautiful, melodic name like Findaráto and then following your terrible family across literal ice hell on a stupid vengeance quest and when you get to the other side the elves there are like "LMAO Finrod."
Wow.

I've seen a few posts of the last couple of days that got me thinking about the First kinslaying and how devastating that must have been, specifically for the Arafinweans. Because not only was that their mother's family, their uncles and aunts and cousins, being killed. They were being killed by the Nolofinweans. The cousins they were so close to that they were practically siblings. Galadriel was there during the fighting and defended her mother's people, but Finrod wouldn't have gotten there until afterwards, being one of the last to leave. I'm not sure where Aegnor and Angrod were, exactly, but it must have been just as horrifying for them nonetheless. How long did it take before they could speak to each other or look each other in the eyes again??? What kind of damage was done to their trust and relationships with each other? I've always thought that one of the reasons Sauron could use the Kinslaying so effectively against Finrod was because not only did the Arafinweans lose so many people, but also because it literally tore their family apart.

that hunting trip in which Finrod had been hanging out with Maedhros and Maglor at first, but then left them and found people, was a bachelor party.

Celegorm headcanons
He has massive pretty privilege and is completely aware of this and uses it to his advantage unlike his also canonically good looking brother Maedhros.
He's not as much of a workout junkie as people make him out to be. He's athletic yes, he has more of a lithe body type like Maglor's, but with more muscle. I actually see Curufin being the buff one out of the Feanorians given he's in the forges all day where as Celegorm spends more time running and shooting arrows so I think he's actually be sort of skinny like how Amrod & Amras who are also hunters are pictured.
Celegorm had fairly long hair which he tied back into a neat braid when he went hunting. It wasn't exactly ideal so he did have to cut it a couple times but he did like growing it out because he, like all Finwean's was blessed with great hair. Also his whole fam was praised for their hair, Feanor & Finwe had famous raven locks, Nerdanel & Mathan had hair that was a beautiful auburn color, Maedhros's fiery hair was iconic, and Maglor's hair was so long it reached his mid thigh.
Back in Valinor, Celegorm got along pretty well with all his (half) cousins except Turgon & Galadriel.
He never really got confrontational with Galadriel though. They just disliked each other because she somewhat openly hated his dad and thought he was narcissistic while he believed she was stuck up but they mostly ignored each other and gave each other fake smiles when others were around.
He and Turgon on the other hand would give each other dirty looks all the time. And talk smack about each other behind each other’s back. The unwilling victim who would hear most of this was Aredhel who would ditch them until they stopped complaining. The only thing these two will ever agree on is that Eol is garbage.
Celegorm used to give Amrod & Amras rides on Huan all the time when the twins were small. Sometimes he would let Argon ride Huan too, which is why the kid had a initially good impression of him and a part of the reason Turgon had a bad impression of him.
While Curufin was canonically Feanor's favorite son, I do think Feanor had a massive soft spot for Celegorm and let him get away with a ton of shit. Partially cuz Miriel, who's looks and silver hair he inherited but also just because Celegorm was an incredibly loving son, like the kind who give you lots of hugs and say "I love you" every day.
When he was younger, he had a massive desire to be liked by everyone so he would somewhat go out of his way to be nice. Especially in front of adults. It was also a part of the reason Orome was so fond of him, he really was a good kid despite what he later became.
Of course, many elves did like him so as he grew older, he somewhat expected to be liked by everybody he met.
It's not like he just started being mean to everyone though, If you were nice to him and didn't bother him, you were good in his book and he treated you well back. If you weren't, you would see the ugliest side of him.
Being close to most of the Nolofinweans, he spent quite a bit of time with his half aunt Lalwen and thought she was one of the coolest elves ever as a kid.

I have infinite fondness for that brief period between the Bragollach and the Nirnaeth where everything is full of possibility and danger and hope. The free peoples’ odds are worse than ever before, but hope is not gone. Those short sixteen years are the balancing point where everything in the back half of the First Age starts to go wrong — but they just don’t know it fully yet.

One of the worst parts about shipping both Curufinrod, Fallen Banners, and Slivergifting is the moment when Celebrimbor realises that the man he loves tortured and murdered his father-figure and his former lover.
When he “heroically defends” Ost-in-Edhil, himself withstanding Sauron when all others had fallen, does he cry “for Finrod! for Maeglin!”?
Even just imagine the hatred that Curufin must fell for Sauron in this situation. The killer of his husband, his best friend’s son, his own son — deaths, of course, that he himself was also responsible for. It becomes even worse with Gil-Galad son of Finrod.

Given how Turgon and Finrod, and Gondolin and Nargothrond, are very clear parallels, I'm thinking of how interesting it is to juxtapose
Longest of all the realms of the Eldalië shall Gondolin stand against Melkor. But love not too well the work of thy hands and the devices of thy heart; and remember that the true hope of the Noldor lieth in the West and cometh from the Sea.
and, from the same chapter,
Now King Finrod Felagund had no wife, and Galadriel asked him why this should be; but foresight came upon Felagund as she spoke, and he said: 'An oath I too shall swear, and must be free to fulfil it, and go into darkness. Nor shall anything of my realm endure that a son should inherit.'
I'm rotating in my mind two different things right now:
Even as Ulmo is warning Turgon to not get too attached to Gondolin, Finrod is predicting the utter loss of Nargothrond
Tolkien brings to our attention the enduring role of Turgon's bloodline, and how its fate is intertwined with that of Beleriand itself. On the other hand, Finrod wants a family with Amarie in Aman, or none at all.
I have no conclusions here, I'm really just swatting my paw at the parallel like a curious kitten

imagine being the messenger who has to go back to Nargothrond and say the king won’t be coming home NOT because the Fëanorians killed him and buried him in a shallow grave in the woods, like several people lowkey suspected would happen when he went on this hunting trip, but because he discovered the Secondborn and he means to stay with them, [attempts to imitate Finrod’s cheerful shrug, anthropologist’s glee, and Teleri accent] “Oh, at least through the winter! I haven’t even fully learned their language yet, and apparently they’re often hunted then by an invisible monster called the ‘flu’—the least I can do is help them slay it!”

Things the Silm fandom seems to have collectively agreed on:
Finwe messed up.
Fingolfin is badass.
Feanor did nothing wrong.
Huan best boi.
Eol should never get reembodied
Aredhel has bad taste in men. Also, she deserved better.
Not everyone is strait.
Divorce should be an option.
Maglor will reunite with Elrond… eventually.
Aegnor should have forsaken his holiness and have had cute half-elven kids with Andreth.
Amrod and Amras have to be mischievous lil buttheads because they’re redheads and babies and they remind us of the Weaslys with a dark twist.
Celegorm looked like Miriel, or at the very least inherited her silver hair.
Caranthir and Haleth had something going on.
Elu Thingol is a prick no one wants to forgive even though he isn’t a kinslayer unlike some other elves.

I think we should talk more about how Finrod, the Fair and Friendly one, the one who decided the best way to introduce himself to a new race of creatures was sneaking into a camp of sleeping humans and performing a harp solo, that Finrod- killed a werewolf naked with his teeth.
If you lined up all the grandchildren of Finwe, and asked me to rate each of them by their likelihood to die while killing a werewolf naked with their teeth, I think I might have put Finrod dead last. Maybe second to last behind Turgon, who has the least feral energy.
But he just. Canonically does that. In an episode of the story that prominently features Celegorm (the run away leader in the “likely to kill a werewolf naked with his teeth” polls), FINROD FELEGUND is the one who rips out the throat of a werewolf with his teeth.
We don’t talk about it enough. He hauls a ton of gems across the ice because he is so connected to civilization he looks at the helcaraxe and says “when I get to the uncertain future on the other side of this, I’m gonna need to pay for things.”
And then-
naked
WITH HIS TEETH!!!

“Andreth fears for you,” Finrod says, barely louder than the popping of coals in the iron braziers that circle the tent’s interior. “She wishes for me to tell you not to be reckless, not to seek danger beyond need.”
Finrod watches his brother’s back as he stands silent. “Would you refuse her wish?”
Five times Finrod foresees Aegnor’s death, and one time he foresees his own.
