Symbols in Renaissance Art: Doves

Throughout the centuries doves have appeared as symbols in numerous religious and secular settings but may be best known for its wide use in Christianity. Renaissance artists utilized doves primarily in religious artwork to depict the third element of the trinity, the Holy Spirit. Shown above the figures in the painting, wings spread and often in a burst of light gives the dove an ethereal appearance, indicating its religious significance.

The Signs as Ancient Greek Particles

Aries: ὅτι. Honestly a little bossy, but always ready to help out and clear new paths.

Taurus: ἄρα. Hardworking, easily adaptable, at times difficult to interpret. 

Gemini: τοι. Intense and attention-grabbing, great for conversation. 

Cancer: γε. Emotional! Conveys so much yet says so little, a great support. 

Leo: ὅπως. Overly-confident, but honest. Maybe just a little extravagant! 

Virgo: μέν…δέ. Master of organization, great at putting everything is in its proper place, without fail. 

Libra: ἵνα. Decisive, if long-winded, but always purposeful. 

Scorpio: ὡς. Great leader, but at times multi-faceted to the point of mystery. 

Sagittarius: ὅποι. Indefinite, always up for adventure, ready to lead their friends to new places. 

Capricorn: ἐάν. Calculating, can come across as finicky, but always have a bottom line in mind.  

Aquarius: μή. Confidence and friendliness abound, but might appear cold to those who care. 

Pisces: ἄν. Endless indecision! Not a confident leader but adds color and support wherever one is found!
