i was scrolling through nintendo's japanese youtube and i found this 2 month old commercial for pokemon scarlet and violet and. oh my goodness wow this made me really emotional this was really well put together and great

ill try to explain what happens for those who dont wanna watch the video! i dont speak japanese so i hope i didnt misinterpret the video but heres what i could understand of it!

theres two brothers, and the older one seems to be graduating at school and going to a college faraway i believe? (perhaps a job? something that involves him moving).

while preparing for this move, him and his family are cleaning out his room and they find this

an old 3ds, with pokemon x! upon finding it, the older brother has a flashback to when him and his brother were little and playing pokemon x, cheering on his greninja

a bit later, we see the two brothers have nintendo switches, and are playing pokemon scarlet and violet together! the younger brother was playing a switch earlier, and then we saw the older brother play a switch a bit after the 3ds

as time is passing, the two visit a playground and flashback to being kids playing pokemon on the playground.

time keeps passing, we see the older brother say goodbyes to people who live in the town.. and finally we see the older brother in his now empty room. the younger brother walks in and mentions something about pokemon

the two are sitting together with their switchs, and..

the younger brother trades the older brother a greninja. just like how he had greninja in pokemon x when he was a kid.

the time comes and the older brother is on a bus, leaving for his destination, saying bye to his family.

and on the bus ride, we see him playing pokemon scarlet with the greninja his brother gave him.

the final shot of the trailer has his character in levincia, walking, before standing there. it then cuts to the older brother in a new location with his luggage.

oof. wow. i know its silly to get emotional over a commercial but this was just. really really good and hit me so hard

i remember playing pokemon black and white so often with my older sister. me, her, and our cousin chose different starter types (she had oshawott, my cousin had tepig, and my starter would be snivy!) now we're adults and she's on her own journey in life. i always kept my interest in video games and pokemon sv has geniunely become one of my favorite games. not to mention all the unova callbacks in indigo disk. it feels like i'm reliving those days as a kid. and this commercial just hits so deep and really shows some of how i felt with pokemon violet personally
