all that serum heightened emotion—can you imagine how that smacks Steve right in the face when bucky’s in front of him again. Like ‘oh shit, I’m in love love.’ The sun rises and sets with it. Because he can only feel things in extremes and now it’s all too big for his body.

THEY CAN’T EVEN HELP THEMSELVES IT’S ABSURD

You know, I think about soft Bucky stuff a lot, but recently my brain has been thinking about some soft Steve stuff and I want to share!

So imagine if you will:

That regardless of his size, steve really likes leaning on Bucky’s chest. Just between the V of his legs; head set back against the hard muscles of Bucky’s chest, and totally relaxed. He started doing it when they were like 7 and 8 and has never stopped. Whenever they were alone Steve would sit like that and Bucky just never complained.

Steve used to sleep in Bucky’s shirts - pre-serum. It is one thing that Steve misses about being small (actually in retrospect there is a lot of things he misses about being small, and all of its to do with Bucky.). To remedy the loss Bucky buys a bunch of oversized T’shirts and soaks them in his usual soap. He gives them to Steve. Even on a super soldier an XXXXL shirt is way too big. They all smell like home and Bucky and Steve can’t sleep in anything else.

The Avengers didn’t realise that they’d never actually seen Steve Rogers before; not the way he acted previous to captain America. When Bucky came back though, a lot of things started to come to the surface like:

He snorts when he laughs;

He’s just a naturally quiet person (as in, if he can get away with not speaking at home he totally just won’t say anything. He doesn’t stay silent where it matters but he would rather not fill a peaceful silence if he can help it.);

Cry’s when he’s frustrated;

He feels safer in the circle of Bucky’s arms;

He will stop speaking if someone he loves yells at him. Later he will come and try and work it out with them but in the moment Steve feels too much to trust himself to speak.

He is actually pretty difficult to annoy or anger but when you do he goes off like a line of fire crackers in a forest fire;

He actually sticks his lip out and pouts when he’s tired and wants to go to bed. This is usually followed by adorable (Tony’s words) slow blinking and eye rubbing.

The first time they’d ever witnessed the resurface of - what Bucky calls- the small Steve attitude, was at a charity gala. A senator tried to convince Steve that his autonomy was not his own and that because Project Rebirth was Government Funded he should be controlled by the government. Bucky had to get in between Steve and the Senator VERY quickly, and carted steve off to sit and breath for a hot second while Natasha and Pepper threatened the senator with a human rights lawyer. The that’s the first time Steve cried in frustration in front of them, because “even when I’m not sick I’m still seen as less than human and I can’t stand it.” Bucky soothes him and the rest of the team suddenly see what it must have been like for Steve previous to the serum.

Steve is a chronic doodler. Envelopes, case files, note pads, Bucky; doesn’t matter what it is Steve will probably doodle on it.

Steve sways when he’s excited. Which is very cute in Bucky’s opinion. As the excitement goes on he will get progressively jiggly until he’s basically just excitedly wiggling on the spot.

Not a single one of Steve’s T-shirt’s is free of paint stains. His clothes and hands always look like he’s been finder painting.

Steve likes to use Bucky’s body as a canvas. Sometimes he paints detailed landscapes on his back; sometimes he just doodles on him; other times he makes edible paint out of vegetables dyes and corn flower and paints him sensually. It all depends on his mood.

Steve makes noises when he’s happy. Just little hums at the back of his throat, more like chirrups really. He also has the adorable habit of going “meep!” When he falls on soft surfaces like beds and the couch.

Steve is really not afraid to ask for affection. He thinks nothing of stopping in the middle of a task to ask for kisses, or nosing his was under Bucky’s arm. Bucky is all to happy to oblige.

Steve twirls pencils and paint brushes and places them behind his ears.

Steve puffs up his cheeks when he’s stumped or feeling cheeky. If someone asks him something he doesn’t have an answer for he will puff up his cheeks and shrug. If Bucky jokingly ribs him with soft insults, Steve will sling them back and then look at Bucky with his cheeks puffed up like a chipmunk.

These are all pointless but they are soft and sweet and I love them.
