ok normally i dont respond to these sorts of things but somehow yes is winning and i think thats unfair to both melusines and laios' character so im gonna say something. laios would definitely not eat a melusine, for a variety of reasons. i think people see his willingness to eat humanoid creatures and go "oh then hed eat pretty much anything if it counts as a monster" but like. laios never considers eating an orc. and i think thats the closest comparison to what a melusine actually is, because for those unfamiliar, theyre just like... a fully sentient magical race. theres pretty much no argument to be made that theyre any less intelligent or sentient than humans. they have culture and shit.

i also think this misses the reason he eats monsters. which is that he respects and has a lot of love for them. eating them is part of understanding them, and while its not just that i think its a really important part of it. while i dont even think laios would see melusines as "monsters" in the traditional sense due to them having like... society... i think if he did he wouldnt want to eat them. hed want to connect with them and learn from them, since hed actually have the chance. but maybe thats just me.
