It has been quite some time since I properly sat down and last wrote for my doctoral dissertation. I have two manuscripts due to two different publishers next week, and I'm scrambling to edit them. Meanwhile, I remember a quote by Virgil Van Dijk, which is "calm as you like," which sounds understatedly cool if you ask me. So, I am trying to remain collected as I go along.

PS: Spotify's new pop-out mini-player feature is so cool. I won't have to worry about missing any of the great music that's playing on the radio.

24.04.2024 // slowly becoming one with this desk. the wires bother me a lot so i've sought advice from a friend on how to organise them better. hopefully, they'll stop looking like such dump. a colleague also donated her french press to the office, which means that i don't have to spend $10 on coffee everyday because frankly, that is utterly absurd and I had, in fact, stopped drinking coffee for a while. but can't do without that caffeine; it keeps me functioning.

April 25, 2024. Today, I was asked to do a guided visit on an exposition I had yet to work on, much less see. It was only a half hour long and I had two and a half hours to prepare it. To my great surprise, it went really well! Only three ladies followed along but they were very receptive (or at the very least very kind).

another cup of coffee, another day at the library 🖤

i'm a bit behind on the work but also not too stressed. today i'm working on a presentation for a wednesday class (you can see how serious it is under the cut)

the plan for today is to get it done, work on my thesis a bit and maybe do some research for an article if i've got the time

16.04.2024 // a long day of cultural research workshop where I got to share some of the challenges I'm struggling with during this beginning phase of my research as I begin working on my literature review and methodology. it was also so fascinating to hear about other research projects that are at various stages of development.

April 19th, 2024

Rainy days and my mood is low. I'm exhausted to my bones, really tired. I'm running on caffeine, sugar, and painkillers. This is definitely not healthy and I hope things will change soon. At least I know that in a few weeks it's all over but the end seems far away.

19.4.2024: I got next to nothing done today on account of being exhausted from yesterday. Yesterday I had a project review meeting, that I missed the majority of, bc I also had a lab for the printed electronics course. It was very exciting, I've never been in a cleanroom before. I spent tonight relaxing watching Sex and the City and eating bread, cheese and grapes, it was great. Right now it's snowing.

another weekend of scrambling to get the work done on time ✨

i've finally put in the real effort into the article i'm writing with a colleague and a professor. i was really procrastinating it and i'm not sure why

i also got feedback from the committee of ethics and i've gotta say - now i understand why people dislike it so much. some of the things they decided to point out are just incorrect... yet i've gotta respond professionally until this wednesday

at least the weather is nice and it lifts my spirits a bit (even though i've got terrible allergy...)

Hung out at a local Serbian cafe and the coffee and food were delightful.

I’m chipping away bit by bit at residency onboarding requirements.

I’m currently reading How To Do Nothing by Jenny Odell which is excellent, so far I really recommend it!

🌼 07.04.2024 // It's the beginning of my two-weeks revision period before my exams and I started with 3 hours of pharmacognosy (even tho I hate that subject). It went slowly but surely and I reviewed the basics.

I made pancakes to motivate me to study on a (rainy) sunday (and it worked, they were delicious!!) and took some pictures of the flowers in my garden :))
