the last couple of episodes of bojack horseman (episodes 13-16 of season six) always make me super sad. like we know bojack isn’t a good person and he’s definitely responsible for his life choices and the way he treats people. it’s good that he finally receives consequences for his actions but it’s also really heart breaking in a way. seeing all of his friends slowly leave him (and with good reason), to him losing his house, hollyhock cutting him out of her life and random strangers showing blatant disdain for him in public is, admittedly, pretty hard to watch. and seeing it all culminate to that scene of him drunkenly doing the bojack dance in angela diaz’s house makes the episode feel like its spiraling until we finally hit the bottom in the view from halfway down. i know we all have our opinions on bojack as a character, but the writers did a really terrific job of making us care for him to a certain degree despite the awful things he did and making us feel torn for caring about him. it’s complicated and sad and the writing in this show is genius.

it worries me so much that there’s been this (mostly unintentional) culture built up around coming out, to where young lgbt kids are putting themselves in danger at school and at home because they don’t want to “live a lie.” i just want to say, i came out when i was 15 and it created a lot of difficulties in my life that i could have avoided by waiting until i was older. it isolated me socially, it exposed me to homophobia from my parents, my family, my teachers, and my classmates at the most important developmental stages of my own confidence and sense of self… closeted people are not living a lie. closeted people are surviving. don’t let anyone pressure you to come out before you’re ready. don’t put yourself at risk when you don’t have to.

Is since I watched Queen's Gambit and I have re-listening Folklore and Evermore one more time , that I was certain that Taylor Swift is telling us, (without knowing because she wrote them before the show hired) , the story of Beth and Benny through her new songs.
