Sleepover | Chuuves

completely inspired by "high tension scenarios pt 8" by ham_zero on tik tok... and why not make it gay cus pride month :) | word count: 1557

It was maybe 1AM or 3AM. Chuu wasn’t sure. Hell the house could’ve been on fire and she wouldn’t have noticed. She didn’t even want to think about the next day. She wanted to live in this perfect moment, where it was just her and her best friend Yves.

The pair were having a sleepover at Chuu’s place since her parents were out of town. They’d baked cookies and surfed the web and looked up celeb crushes and played video games all while having a never ending conversation about anything and everything.

Their mouths just kept going, never pausing too long for a breath. They teased each other, and talked about school gossip and movies and childhood and anything they could think of. They bounced off of each other’s humor, their personalities complimented each other so well.

Yves began yawning around 12AM, which surprised Chuu since Yves was almost never tired.

“You gonna end the night early?” She’d asked when she noticed.

Yves scoffed, “Like I’d let you beat me to the punch.”

“What does that mean? I’m usually as much of a late sleeper as you are!” Chuu pouted.

Yves was doubtful, “You’re usually out by 11PM though.”

“Not on weekends! Besides, I still have to maintain my sleep schedule cus of school.”

Yves shrugged, “I guess you have a point.”

After that the subject changed. Now, Chuu and Yves were settled into the couch, watching Gonjiam Asylum. Chuu had her head on Yves’ shoulder, clutching her arm out of fear from the movie.

She couldn't have a better excuse to hold Yves hand. Chuu was affectionate and bubbly, but she’d felt unsure lately.

She couldn’t put her finger on it. She wanted to touch Yves so badly every second of every day. She felt suspicious though, as if it were wrong to long for her best friend’s touch. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary so why did she suddenly feel so much guilt?

Chuu couldn’t help but feel herself blush when Yves squeezed her hand reassuringly during the movie. She thought back to earlier when they were baking and Yves had swiped some flour off of Chuu’s cheek. Yves’ gaze was unwavering and Chuu felt herself suddenly so vulnerable and nervous at that moment. She felt almost that if Yves stared long enough she’d see the guilt of Chuu’s longing in her eyes.

But she didn’t of course. Chuu was only overthinking the inevitable. This was pure. The friendship was pure, and nothing would be able to ruin that. Not even the blush that returned when Yves jumped and unconsciously pulled Chuu closer.

The movie felt much longer than it was. Chuu’s emotions were getting the best of her. The movie was terrifying but in the best way, and afterwards the girls decided to play some calming music and do each other’s make-up to wind down.

Chuu was tempted to check the time but she avoided it, in fear that she’d pressure herself to sleep instead of enjoying her time with Yves.

They decided to just do eye make up so as not to have as much clean up before they went to sleep. Yves pulled out a palette with four shades, and went to town on Chuu’s eyelids.

“Close your eyes… Raise your eyebrows.” Chuu did as she was told, feeling the ginger touch of the brush. She occasionally felt a swipe from the pad of Yves’ index finger.

“Are you doing glitter?” Chuu asked.

“Mhm.” Yves was concentrated, trying her best to focus.

“Are you gonna do mascara?” The silence was unfamiliar and Chuu felt the need to fill it.

But Yves was adamant, “Yup.”

“So—“

“Don’t talk so much,” Yves pressed a finger to Chuu’s lips, Chuu prayed to whatever existed that Yves didn’t notice the blush that colored her cheeks.

“Okay, open.” Chuu opened her eyes and was met with Yves’ concentrated gaze, a crease was formed between her perfect arched brows.

Impulsively, Chuu pressed a thumb to where the crease formed. Yves was surprised but laughed in response and pulled Chuu’s hand away.

“Is that your attempt at preventing wrinkles?”

Chuu took the chance, “Sure,” she chuckled.

Yves still had a soft smile on her face as she pulled out a pencil liner and continued her work. She held Chuu’s face tenderly, trying to even her lines.

Chuu could feel Yves’ soft breaths waft against her face. She licked her lips nervously, the blush was coming back. She cursed her pale complexion internally.

She was so close to Yves that she could see specks of light brown in her eyes. Chuu marveled at Yves’ perfect skin and long lashes. She wanted to pull her in and just keep her close and tight and never let go.

Chuu felt a pang in her chest. The guilt had returned. Why was she guilty? She still couldn’t understand the internal conflict that festered in her mind.

What was wrong with being affectionate?

“Are you sure you want mascara? It’ll be annoying to take off.” Yves pulled away suddenly.

Chuu thought for a moment, “Yeah I guess not.”

“In that case I’m done.” Yves dropped the pencil in a makeup bag and handed Chuu a hand mirror.

She admired Yves’ work, her aegyosal and inner corner were bright with highlight, her eyelids were a soft red/peach with a subtle glitter tapped on top.

“Not bad for only 15 minutes.” Chuu turned her face

“And for it being 4:32 in the morning.” Yves added on.

Chuu felt dread in her stomach, she hated sleeping late, “It’s 4:30 already?”

“I thought you liked sleeping late?” Yves smirked teasingly.

“Well… I mean… It just depends!” Chuu avoided Yves’ eyes once again.

“It’s fine if you wanna sleep now,” Yves handed Chuu some makeup wipes.

Chuu’s expression was hopeful, “Really?”

“Of course dummy, I don’t mind.” Yves grinned and stood from her spot on the bedroom floor. She shimmied out of her bra and tucked it under her respective pillow before laying down and playing on her phone.

Chuu was clearing the makeup from her eyes, music still played softly. This time the silence of the lack of conversation was enough for Chuu to handle.

“You have anything going on tomorrow?” Yves asked, scrolling away on her phone.

“Nah, just getting groceries at 2, why?” Chuu turned to look at Yves who was already looking at her. Chuu’s heart nearly jumped out of her chest. Yves seemed so beautiful with her hair over her shoulder, her hand propping her head up while the other rested at the curve in her waist.

“You think your parents will mind me staying another day?”

Chuu swallowed, “Not at all. You know they love you.” She smiled brightly before going back to wiping the makeup off.

“Good, cus I don’t think I have a ride home until the afternoon.” Yves let herself fall back into the pillow, continuing her scrolling.

“Who was supposed to pick you up? But obviously you can stay until whenever. You can borrow my clothes if you need, but I think I need to wash soon… Oh! And you can help me carry the groceries! We can even hit that store by that black bean noodle place! You know the one with the pink converse in the window. You know I really want those but I feel like they wouldn’t be convenient enough to wear often, you know? … Yves?” Chuu paused her long rant and turned to see Yves with her eyes closed, her chest rising and falling with even breaths of slumber.

Chuu smiled softly to herself. She threw away her wipes and put the mirror away before sliding into bed next to Yves. The lights were out, and soft gleaming poured in from the window. There was just enough for Chuu to see Yves’ peaceful face.

Chuu was on her side facing Yves, who was parallel to the bed. Her perfect lips were slightly parted and soft snores came from her.

Chuu stared at her in admiration, she always knew Yves was a pretty girl but in this moment she seemed so perfect and beautiful. Chuu had never seen anyone as flawless as Yves.

Chuu impulsively reached out and gently stroked Yves’ cheek with the back of her hand. Yves grunted suddenly, which made Chuu immediately pull her hand away. Yves stirred in her sleep and turned to face Chuu.

Chuu was mortified and frozen in place. Then, the unthinkable happened. Yves’ eyes fluttered open, and she pulled Chuu closer.

“I thought you’d never get in bed,” She giggled, her words were groggy.

Chuu smiled. Something felt wrong. The guilt was building again. She wanted to push Yves away, it felt wrong being so close to her. But she couldn’t bring herself to do it, and instead, wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled herself closer.

Yves sighed in content, “You’re so warm Chuu,” She giggled again.

Chuu felt the blush on her cheeks, her lips were pulled into the biggest grin she’d ever had in her life. She felt so happy, yet so… regretful. She felt as though Yves didn’t feel the same Chuu felt.

Yves was just tired, she wouldn’t remember how they had tangled themselves into an embrace throughout the night.

At least that’s what Chuu hoped.
