Aragami - Patch 01.09 (PC) and Patch 01.10 (PS4)
Hi there, shadow assassins! Following our weird philosophy of keeping our investment in story-driven games, we bring you the Patch 01.09 for Aragami. If you didn't know, Aragami: Nightfall, the story-driven prequel DLC to Aragami, 1 year in the making, is coming reaaaally soon (less than a month). You can read a bit about Aragami: Nightfall on this blog post:
https://blog.us.playstation.com/2018/03/28/aragami-nightfall-is-an-expansion-of-2016s-stealth-action-game/ Or just go to the Steam page and add it to your wishlist to be notified when it comes out!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/771720/
There will be a launch week discount available, so if you want to support us you know what to do. *blink*

Besides the new content, we've been hard at work with those pesky performance optimizations and bug fixes. These are way too long to list, so a summary would be something like this: Changelog:
ADD: Added "Auto Aim" option for the Shadow Leap mechanic. Can be toggled in Options menu. Life saver for players using controllers.
ADD: Korean localization. No Gangnam Style emotes included, too late for that.
FIX: Big performance improvements. You should be noticing better framerate all over the game, averaging 40-60 fps on PS4.
FIX: Lots of minor bug fixes and minor visual changes.
As always, on Steam there's different beta branches to roll your game version back to previous builds. Any issues, please let us know in our Discord: https://discord.gg/linceworks Stealthily loving you, - Lince Works

Will the GOG version have feature-parity with the Steam version, or have you had to leave out e.g. multi-player?
We are working with GOG to integrate their GOG Galaxy SDK and integrate multiplayer friend invites. The DRM-free version available on launch will let you play Multiplayer with no issues, don’t worry :)

Aragami looks awesome. :) I like stealth games. What are your policy about youtube "Lets Plays". Do you allow it? And if yes with or without monetize.
Here’s our content policy: https://www.dropbox.com/s/h19ja5y6vnh718s/06_CONTENT_POLICY.txt?dl=0
Summary for the lazy: Yes, we allow Let’s Plays, and you can monetize your videos, no problem! Just add a link to the game somewhere in the description :)

Hi, are you the same guys who created the game "Path of shadow"?
Path of Shadows was developed as a student project some years ago by 5 students. After the project, 3 of those students decided to evolve the concept behind Path of Shadows and founded Lince Works.
If you’ve played Path of Shadows you will feel right at home with Aragami. The mechanics and Shadow Powers have evolved, there’s a focus on movement, speed, and verticality, and there’s a fully developed story condensed in about 8 hours of gameplay :)

Hi! Are you using any game engine? Or your own technology? If that is the case, why you didnt use a built engine like unity or unreal?
Aragami is being developed using the Unity 5 engine. We make our own tools and plugins, but Unity provides a great framework to work on the game itself.
Some years ago we developed our own engine to create ‘Path of Shadows’. It was an enlightening experience - you learn a lot about game engines, performance, and how everything works from inside out - but it’s not practical for a ‘real’ game. With Aragami, we wanted to focus on creating a fun game experience, developing cool game mechanics and a unique visual style; anything that takes you time from that - reinventing the wheel - doesn’t add anything to the final product. Moreover, if you want to launch your game on different platforms it’s far easier to use a technology that already does that job for you :)
I’m not saying making your own engine isn’t a good choice, it’s just that it’s not always the best choice. If your project requires custom technology, or if you are working on a project just ‘for fun’ or to learn more about coding, creating your own engine is a great option.

Hey, I was curious about how big your studio was, and how did you end up making a game that'll be published on the PSN. I'm also a programmer from Spain, so I'll be cheering for you. Game looks great!
Hi there!
In 2014, we were just 3 students just out of college and looking at what to do next. The easy choice was to look for a job at a mobile game company here in Barcelona, but we decided to go the ‘suicidal’ route and form an indie studio!
We gathered our savings and hired a team to work on our first project, Aragami. After lots of ups and downs, we ended up with a good ‘vertical slice’ that we sent to Sony. They saw the potential in Aragami and helped us continue developing the project.
We are now a team of 10 people, around 50% programmers and 50% artists, + 2 people working on music and sfx (Two Feathers Studio).
Cheers!

Was any of you involved in creating Okami? Just wondering, since the art style is similar. Loving it though!
Nope, we are a new indie studio from Spain :)  But yeah! We got a lot of influence from Okami, Sly Cooper and Journey.
When we started working on Aragami we researched legends and myths from the Japanese and Chinese culture, and when you play the game you’ll probably notice lots of small little references. The noun ‘Aragami’ is formed by 2 kanjis, Ara 荒 (violent, rage) and Kami 神 (spirit, god); and that became our way to represent the undead (violent) spirit that is our main character. His sword is ‘hebi’, with the symbol of a snake (hebi). You obtain your sword on a temple under a statue of an eight-headed snake (Yamata-no-Orochi). Those are just examples of japanese mythology references in the game.
Hope that answers your curiosity!
