Offering for Underwing

this decent-size moth

has high-contrast, black and orange wings.

I thought it was a woodchip in the wooden cabin

because its other pair of wings

were a drab tan, tattered

draped gently over the orange “Underwings”

The moth fell, irreversibly, on its back

but i flipped him over and he waddled outside.

He stops.

I kneel, to offer him a piece of my small orange

Then, Tattered cape, flung open!

four scaly wings spread,

he kinda flapped in circles and fell off the deck into the shoregrass. :/

I dropped a slice of orange down there anyway

in the hope that the Underwing would find it

and find nourishment.

Squirrel’s infant

shudders on pavement, he squeaks;

sightless suffering.

The limbs look fine; warm feel, yet

through tears i see red

Last loving touch, human hand

young squirrel chitters softly

and tucks in his limbs

Outright lying. It doesn’t pay well at all and no worker’s comp. I killed a 90 foot coelacanth after a 20 minute struggle and got 500z above minimum wage. And i only ever received six scales in the mail; like bro 😐 he’s MADE out of scales, can i borrow like 3 more so i can finally make a spear the size of a telephone pole?

My arms are so large and clumsy and the countless bottles encircling the bathroom sink are so thin and airy: a breath would suffice to knock one down, but an errant, sleepy hand knocks over two, three, five;

they must all be picked back up. It is probable that piloting my fingers anywhere but from the faucet handles and the soap dispenser will involve a teeth-gritting tumult of cheap plastic. It’s not like im constantly knocking shit over, but it happens often enough that it’s burning my short wick to the wax.
