He might've been a nerd, but at least he was a cute, earnest sort of nerd. Tilly smiled back at him, all sharp teeth under those disarming doe eyes. "You're not bugging me."
It was the truth, he wasn't setting off any warning bells for creepy behavior. Poor Randy just seemed so nervous. Tilly looked around too when she noticed his eyes wandering, just in case his anxious peering was at anything particularly interesting. "Well..." Nope, nothing interesting. "It's a horror movie this week, it says on the school website." Might as well warn him, she reasoned, since he was so nervous.
"Yeah we have, you were the little dude who was way lost on his way to the Arts and Monstrosities building," Tilly said lightly, and took his hand to shake it. Not just lost, way lost, because he was in a dorm when they bumped into each other and not a building with classrooms at all.
"That’s where they’re showing the movie, by the way. Room 107. I haven’t seen you there before, is this the first time you’re going?" She felt curious, and leaned forward a bit.

"Tara?"
It took a moment before Tilly remembered the little reptilian monster, but when she did she snapped her fingers.
"Tilly, not Tara. And you’re… eesh, did I ever ask what your name was?" She strongly suspected, no.

"Um excuse me T-Tara right? Do you know where the movie night is being held?" he's twiddling his hands together and looking quite out of place, a shade more green than pastel lavender and blue.

[some slight exasperated grumbling goes here]
Alright, fine, but I'm not buying you one of those big triple-scoop sundaes. I know a good ice cream place but they charge like seven dollars for one of those.
Ice cream in the winter.
Really?

Dude, I will eat ice cream outside while wearing snow boots and three layers of jackets, do not question my dedication to ice cream.
Do you want some or not? We could always do coffee.
Without Layla, then?
Ah, doesn’t matter if she comes along or not, I’m good either way. But we should get ice cream or something. The season’s about over after all, you might be one of those people who won’t eat ice cream in winter.

De-stress? Not sure if you want to be deliberately seen in public with me but whatever, I might as well express interest.
Right now, as long as I can get out and away from the apartment, I don’t care who it’s with.

Perfect, huh?
Well if she's perfect maybe I should ask her for coffee even if she doesn't bop you one.
Would she really?
I haven’t actually… spoken to her. Ever. I was advised not to mess up her groove while she’s warming up so I’ve stuck to that.

Oh, grumblr... maybe you guys know something about this.
Is there some kind of protocol you follow after having a steamy dream about somebody? Do you write it all down? Try to forget?
No matter what I don't think I can make eye contact with Rosie Levin for about another ten years.

Tilly managed a curtsy to the professor, because doing quirky things like that was how they remembered you, and was almost down the theater aisle to the door when she realized Nessie was following her.
"Ah... thank you," she said, a little surprised, and slowed down her pace a bit. "I don't have any plans, I guess we could go to the cafeteria if you want..."
Nessie let out a tiny squeal and gave tilly a thumbs up." nice work ..querida" Nessie followed tilly out the door. " do you wanna maybe... grab some food?"

Had her first impression really been that much of a disaster--okay yes, it had been. Tripping over your own feet and wiping out hard enough to need some basic medical attention was enough to make anyone look brainless. Tilly grimaced a little and glanced in the other direction, tapping one foot against the bus floor with a click of sturdy claws.
"Not half-bad? I can live with that assessment, I think," she replied, with the barest hint of sarcasm. Her more sensible side knew that accepting small back-handed compliments like that was kind of pathetic. Not to mention Johnny was out of her age group, out of her league, and she had to be out of her mind to think their relationship could go past more than coworker casual.
Still, it was worth a shot. Even just being Mr. Worthington's friend could be valuable in itself, and his kid was cute so that was a bonus. Tilly eyed the snoozy monsterling in Johnny's lap fondly. "Layla's real sweet. I'm happy I got to meet her... and see you outside the Scare floor. You're... different." Maybe not the most poetic way to say she liked how he positively radiated fatherly devotion, but didn't all lady monsters appreciate a guy who was good with kids?

Tilly sighed in a loud, exaggerated fashion. It was too bad the scene was about over, but she could put her heart into this last bit. "I hear a sob story like that from every scumbag I've backed into a corner. You can always dance, but that million dollar payout... that only comes attached to one hubby. The prosecution will go to town with your circumstances, lemme tell ya."
Turning in a neat swivel on her toes, she walked to an imaginary door, twisted the imaginary doorknob to pull it open. "It's easy to see when evidence is planted, chica! I'll be back with a warrant." Tilly stalked off past the edge of the curtain, and that was that.
The professor overseeing the tryouts clapped politely. "Excellent work, girls! You both wrote down your names and contact information on the sign-up paper, right? We'll be in touch."
Tilly popped her head back out from behind the curtain and gave the professor a thumbs up.
Nessie flipped the page, she was getting into this. "Ay… No love" she moaned, walking around Tilly. " what a sad existence.. Let me tell you of a worse one. I grew up in the sewers, bullied, alone and yes poor" she did a little curtsy. "I danced for money, i was a good one too.. They called me tentadora. Then i found him and i was happy.. True he was rich but i was making plenty of money dancing… Now what is the motive of which you are speaking." Nessie flipped closed the few pages she had, she had but one line left in the reading. " it wasnt my DNA they found on the bat… Querida" she crooned.
