I really think we need to be having conversations more often about how to figure out if you're being abusive, and how to address it if you are.
Abuse isn't just done by one demographic, or in one specific way. Most abusers justify their actions to themselves and do not think of what is happening as abuse.
It's dangerous to just assume that you don't have the ability to abuse someone due to your Pureness of Heart or oppressed status. Thinking this way can make you more likely to harm someone.
I have known people who talk a lot about abuse, have read a lot about it, and have been abused themselves, who become abusers and don't notice because they see their victim status as overriding any concern they should have about how they treat others. It seems impossible to them that abuse could come FROM them rather than always automatically only happening TO them.
You can abuse people. I can abuse people. Abusers are human beings who choose to exert control over others. Not storybook monsters you have nothing in common with.
Let's talk about how to make sure we keep our friends, loved ones, and other community members safe from harmful behavior, not just from Total Irredeemable Obvious Monsters.
going nuts with the implications of Gaius as Harvey as Merlin’s/Mike’s mentor
magic as a metaphor for homosexuality is OUT magic as a metaphor for smoking weed is IN
harvey used to smoke weed but as a senior partner has matured out of it for professional reasons -------- gaius used to use magic but as royal physician has matured out of it for professional reasons
magic is illegal and changes the color of your eyes
today i started to get my stuff together. i did out a couple of bujo spreads for september and filled them in with whatever i could. i’ve also been trying to organize my pen collection so it’s less overwhelming.
Testing participants from my sister's apartment so I can dog sit while she's at work. Poor boy has been so upset since his mumma left for work, but he's also been a very good boy. Snoring away, all tucked in.
August 9th, 2022 | Memories from Paris, kind of. Finally getting myself around making flashcards out of my notes from the internship in March, which feels like a lifetime ago already.
2 days till mid years begin and i’m pretty stressed out. and then one month till prelims. seeing all my exams lay before me in a time line is really a huge wake up call for me to actually 1. arrange my limited amount time, and 2. ensure quality study sessions. but both tasks are already huge hurdles to begin with.
but the process and challenge is what makes the scary things exciting, i suppose. i’ll figure this out and i hope we all do too.
I have no idea how the heck it became Week 10. I’m getting marks back for my first few assessments and man, I could be doing better. My writing subjects are going fairly well, but the same cannot be said for my business subjects. I’m just so preoccupied with my YouTube channel and babysitting and Heartstopper and well,,, anything but study. Which is unfortunate, because I do like studying.
I’m currently sitting in the library with a coffee analysing a book for one of my writing assessments. Hopefully this one is a high distinction guys! Any advice for getting my head in the game is highly appreciated.
Listening: SUPERMODEL by Måneskin
Reading: Five on a Treasure Island by Enid Blyton (depicted above)
i’ve been teaching myself how to play guitar for a couple months now and it’s very quickly become my favorite thing to do and i wanted to share a lil clip :)
June 09 2022 | I was in desperate need of a monitor upgrade, so I decided to finally go ahead and buy myself a 27-inch Philips. Really underestimated how much of a difference a bigger screen and upgraded technology makes for your work experience. Really happy so far!
In case you missed it, here’s a link to my bookshelf tour video! It’s the first in a series I’m making of all the books on my bookshelf 😄 This edition is ‘books from my childhood’ plus a little discussion of Heartstopper!
