Minkyu knew very little about Sujin, just that he was a newly signed actor with Legacy Agency and maybe his surname. Beyond that, Sujin remained a mystery. So it was an even bigger surprise when Sujin initiated their conversation, sparking Minkyu's usual boyish grin, and in an instant, his full attention was on Sujin, just as he did with everyone he spoke to.
"Hmmmmmmm, I do enjoy a good movie. Especially if it's romance or comedy, totally my favorites to watch," Minkyu said, laughing, eyes crinkled at the edges. "But I have to admit, I enjoy a good drama more. Movies always end too quickly. What about you, Sujinssi? Do you prefer watching shows or movies?"
WEEK TWO @lgcminkyu
Tumblr media
Variety shows weren't really his thing.
Sujin recognized that he was too serious and unaccustomed to pushing himself to appear more friendly and approachable when he did not feel like it. Once again he questioned whether or not his decision to become an actor was a right one. While he did feel like he had some talent in acting, there were other aspects related to his career that he simply wasn't sure if he excelled at.
Week two rolled around and he figured he'd try a little harder. Fortunately, the game they were about to play seemed straight forward enough.
"Do you watch a lot of movies?" He asked Minkyu, a teammate on the Rookies team. A honorable but cautious attempt at social interaction. "Let's try our best to win."

A look of utter bewilderment swept across Minkyu's face as he gazed at Haemin, filled with disbelief; it was as if he couldn't quite comprehend what his friend had just said, trying to determine whether it was a joke or not. Though he knew it was all in jest, Minkyu's prominent dramatic nature took over, causing his plush lips to form a deep pout, his lower lip jutting out, his eyebrows furrowing. And with a whine in his voice, he protested,
"No waaaay!! There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way I fold socks or underwear!" He leaned his head against Haemin's shoulder, peering up through thick brown bangs with fluttering eyelashes. It was so effortless to be this way around his best friend. "You should tell them about how amazing, nice, considerate, and sweet I am instead. No one cares about my folding skills, I promise."
He grinned, playfully patting Haemin's thigh a few times. "I trust you'll only speak highly of me, so I won't eavesdrop!" Despite all the banter and fun, there was a sincere undertone to his words. "But what about you? Are you going to let curiosity get the better of you, or will you hold back?"
Even though Haemin was fairly new to being on variety shows he was excited to be together with all the actors, some of who he'd never worked with before. Hopefully everything would go smoothly and they'd all end up having a blast and end showing their fun and lighthearted side. There was a slight fear that he'd be too quiet and boring and therefore edited out in most of the episodes but he was determined to put himself out there in one way or another, especially since he was a new face.
The best part of filming the various episodes was undoubtedly being able to mess around work with Minkyu again. It had been too long since they'd been in the same room let alone the same project so Haemin had ended up sticking by his side like glue. They really were two peas in a pod, sharing laughter and looks. Even the staff had noticed and sometimes snagged both of them for pair interviews where they'd talk over each other or make the other one laugh mid-sentence.
Haemin grinned innocently and gave a shrug. "Hey, I'm not promising anything," he said with a wink, "it all depends on the question. I'm here to tell nothing but the truth and expose alllll of your secrets~!" He chuckled and ruffled the other's hair playfully. "Maybe I'll tell them all about how bad your Busan accent was in the beginning before you got it under control or how you fold your socks and underwear," Haemin teased, leaning against him as the crew got ready to film. "Will you eavesdrop or will you resist the urge?"

Appearing on a dating show should, in theory, leave Minkyu feeling at least a tad jittery, perhaps a touch anxious. Yet, all he exudes is the confidence of a leading character in a romantic animeโ€“it's like a dream come true for him to be at the heart of a romance-themed scenario, his favourite genre, even if the whole affair is staged and far from reality.
Undeterred, he's styled his hair into that signature side part and wears a boyish grin on his lips as he strides towards the designated spot, brightly coloured kites adorning the sky.
"I wonder what the date idea is," he muses aloud, mindful of the ongoing filmingโ€“after all, the viewers can't tune into his inner thoughts unless he vocalises them. Running a hand through his carefully styled locks, he scans the area and spots the jellycat snake he's been instructed to seek out, just ahead.
And when his eyes lift to meet the owner's face, his own expression lights up instantly; it's a genuine reaction, devoid of any pretense or scripting, as he hoists the Kuromi plushie and waves at his designated date partner as he approaches her.
"Lilissi!" he calls out, adding the honorific for the sake of public television. "Wow, I can't believe it. You're really my date partner!" His words spill out with genuine excitement, pausing briefly as he stands before her, holding up his item. "I bet you didn't expect me to be yours, huh?"
FLY WITH ME. wanna fly with you in my arms ; hangang citizenโ€™s park, seoul โ€” @lgcminkyu
lili hadnโ€™t thought much about the date lottery when the option had been placed on the table. it had been more or less a throw-away decision, sign her up there, hear about it later โ€” sort of thing.ย
however, when news came of her actually participating โ€” and worse, having to be the one to plan the whole date โ€” lili had her reservations.ย
she had never been one to care about such things but what if her date sucked? and what if her date hated what she planned โ€” what if netizens thought it was boring? ugh, this was the type of stress that imprinted permanent wrinkles to the forehead.
said wrinkles are ironed out as she eases herself into a sense of zen ; rolling her mystery dateโ€™s hint between her fingertips โ€”ย  an adorable kuromi plushie that makes her wish she had chosen a my melody counterpart rather than the jellycat snake she had been eyeing for ages โ€”ย as she waits at the corner of the entrance of hangang citizenโ€™s park. all the cherry blossoms had finally departed from their blooms and all was left were their fallen petals, skirting around her heels.
she tries hard to keep her face from falling into a look of anxiousness as she pretends the camera currently zooming into her face from several steps away isnโ€™t there, nor is the producer whispering into his headset isnโ€™t inducing an annoying buzz in her ears.ย from afar, she can already spy the dozen or so kites taking flight ; vibrant colors painting the afternoon sky in their illustrious rainbow. "i hope they like it," she whispers to herself, taking another breath to calm herself.

"Seriously?" Minkyu's expression switches between surprise and hope as he gazes at Haneul, caught off guard by the revelation. Apparently, he missed the memo about being allowed to eat the remaining food and even take some home if the shoot wraps up on a positive note.
Suddenly, he looks at the baguette in his arms with newfound reverence, already envisioning it as a cherished possession to bring home. "Well then, Haneul-ah, I guess we're on a mission to give it our all!" Minkyu declares, casting his friend a determined look that leaves no room for alternative outcomes, especially not when his stomach is practically growling in agreement. Still, the thought of waiting any longer feels unbearable.
"Shall we brainstorm some poses?" he suggests, "Maybe we can sneak a bite in while we're at it... Incorporating it into a pose would make it more authentic for the commercial, don't you think? It's far better than just pretending!"
Getting his Passion5 contract renewed is validation that Haneul is doing something right, after all. He likes to think he did a good job as a model for the brand that they liked him enough to renew his contract. Chuckling to himself, Haneul supposes he can't complain about where he is in life right now. Okay, maybe not exactly right now. Not when bread that looks so good isn't allowed to be eaten just yet. The difference will be noticeable, so Haneul supposes he might as well grin and bear it.
Thankfully, he's not alone in this predicament. "I feel this on a physical, spiritual, and emotional level," he whines back at Minkyu. However he cheers up when he remembers what the staff said. "They said we can eat these and bring the rest home if we do a good job, though." Honestly, that's the only thing keeping Haneul from actually biting into the bread right then and there. It's almost childish how they're being tested and rewarded, but Haneul cannot complain. "That croissant looks really good. But I guess I'm glad we're not doing gelato. Otherwise, those would have been colored mashed potatoes." He shudders, thanking all his lucky stars that this is actual bread and not the fake ones.

kuromi.
Being part of Team Rookies has its own unique charmโ€”an opportunity to work with newly signed actors from the Agency, fostering new connections and friendships. It's a chance for him to showcase his social skills and get to know everyone better, just as he's known to do.
And what better way to break the ice than over a game on a variety show?
Standing beside @lgcgyuri, a fellow Kuromi enjoyer and lover, he offers a casual grin, waiting for filming to begin and the guessing game to start. "Do you lean more towards movies or TV shows?" he asks, the question light and easy. "I mean, we're all actors, but I'm curious about your preference."
He chuckles then, perhaps realizing he's rambled a tad. Tucking his phone away, he adds with a hint of confidence, "I'm more of a movie guy myself, so I think we've got a good shot at this. Let's show the other team what we're made of."

inseparable.
Being part of the new variety show has fulfilled everything Minkyu has been hoping for: the chance to engage with fellow actorsโ€”some of whom he hasn't crossed paths with in months due to various projectsโ€”participating in something that allows him to showcase his innate charm and infectious personality, and indulging in amusing games to entertain the audience.
As the weeks have passed, it comes as no surprise to find himself on the same team as @haeminlgc once again, even in the fourth week. Throughout the show, they've been nearly inseparable, their genuine friendship evident in the shared giggles, laughter, and joint interviews.
"Hey, don't roast me too much while I'm sitting there with the headphones on, hyung," Minkyu quips lightheartedly, his tone playful. "I mean, there's nothing negative you could possibly say about me, right? I'm just that wonderful, funny, and charming and simply perfect." He chuckles then, running his fingers through styled brown locks and waggling his eyebrows in mock seriousness.

take a bite.
Renewing his contract with PASSION5 is both, a blessing and a curse at once. A blessing, because he's loved every moment of being part of this modeling gig. A curse, because now he's tasked with posing with tantalizingly delicious bread that he's forbidden to taste. It's sheer torture, requiring every ounce of his willpower to resist the temptation of taking just a tiny nibble from the baguette he cradles like a precious infant in his arms.
Glancing over at @lgchxneul, who's in the same group as him, Minkyu can't help but lament their delicious dilemma. "It's such a pity we can't indulge in this," he remarks, his gaze lingering on the tempting food. "I can't even bear to look at all those pastries. Ugh. They're making me hungry." A hint of a whine creeps into his voice as he now fully turns to Haneul, a subtle pout forming on his lower lip. "Am I the only one suffering here, or can you relate?"

"Ahhh." Minkyu nodded along attentively as Aeri spoke, making affirming sounds to show his genuine engagement with her words rather than mere passive acknowledgment. "Making a mistake seem like part of the choreography," he echoed, mentally noting the idea. "That sounds like something right up my alley." He punctuated his statement with a boyish, somewhat bashful grin, accompanied by a soft chuckle as he rubbed the back of his head. "Though, of course, I hope to avoid making any mistakes altogether. Being my first musical role, I really want to give it my all."
When Aeri mentioned practicing fight scenes, Minkyu already began to eagerly clear the space around them, bubbling with excitement "Sure thing! The only fighting I'm well-versed in is Tekken or Street Fighter, but those are video games." He commented through a grin. and he reasoned that a bit of fun wouldn't hurt anyone. "Let's do this! I think I've got the fighting stunts in my head, just need to make them look natural. Which scene shall we start with?"
โ€œmhmm,โ€ aeri nodded her head, thinking about the last time sheโ€™s done a musical and how similar incidents have happened. while most of them have been minor and she could help while she wasnโ€™t the main character in the scene, sometimes she ponders over how she would have handled it if it was different. โ€œi believe that after a certain point, when you know your character so well, you tend to react more to situations based on what the character would do rather than yourself.โ€ she explained, relying on past experiences to support her statement. she then tells minkyu a story that she remembered to this day. โ€œa while back, one of the actors in a musical that i was a part of had accidentally taken the wrong step during a choreography. luckily their reaction seemed quite on point with their character so even if anyone noticed it, they still would think it was part of the script.โ€
looking back at minkyu, she absorbed the information that was given to her earlier. โ€œbut if you find improvisation your strength, then i think this will benefit you if and when the time comes.โ€ aeri gave a hopeful smile while thinking if there was a particular scene they could work on. โ€œperhaps we should work on one of the fight scenes then?โ€ she suggested, hoping that this would help aeri figure out what he was talking about and see what she could advise specifically to him.

As Rowon continues to speak, Minkyu finds himself increasingly in disbelief. It feels almost like a dream, one from which he eagerly wants to awaken. Yet, despite his efforts to return to realityโ€”blinking repeatedly, breathing deeplyโ€”nothing changes:
Rowon is still present, a latte sits untouched before him, and a wave of anger tightens his chest uncomfortably. It's a complex blend of shock, disappointment, and the bitter realization that he should have expected nothing more than distortions and half-truths about their shared history.
Minkyu instinctively pulls his ankle away from Rowon's touch, a gesture that once brought anticipation now causes unease and goosebumps. "You deserve better, huh?" he says with a forced laugh that borders on scorn.
"You claim I can't confess my love and then vanish, but if my memory serves me rightโ€”it was you who withdrew after my confession. You became distant, flirted with others. I've even heard from people you fed them the same lines you gave me, Rowon."
He drops the honorifics, no longer deeming Rowon worthy of such respect. "That's hardly the behaviour of someone who claims to care and like someone as deeply as you do." Minkyu allows himself another breath, deliberately avoiding Rowon's gaze. "You're portraying yourself as the epitome of a loving guyโ€”until the commitment becomes real, and you retreat in the most cowardly way."
It's then that Minkyu meets Rowon's eyes again, his voice shifting from shaky to coldly detached; Rowon no longer deserves his emotional vulnerability. "I thought you'd at least show some remorse. Clearly, I was mistaken. Again." He pauses, takes a sip of his latte. "You're the worst."
โ€ƒโ€ƒso often, rowon listens with the intent to respond. heโ€™s usually quick with his quips, refuting every point made, hitting it where it hurts with such repetitive intensity that it eventually wears the other person down to an exasperated apology. and though he feels the fire bursting in his chest and scaling up his throat, it soothes over right before it reaches his tongue. heโ€™s not angry, just โ€ฆ conflicted.
โ€ƒโ€ƒโ€œi only had tendonitis in my wrist twice,โ€ he says, his voice steady in comparison to minkyuโ€™s quiver. โ€œonce, when i had to handwrite a ten-page essay detailing why i was wrong for speaking out against my instructor; and the second time, when i was practicing how to pour a raccoon because i promised you that i would try.โ€ is it the truth? is it a lie? thereโ€™s no trace of sadness in his eyes when he confesses this, but he does start picking at the napkin tucked under the plate of pastries. โ€œi perfected it, took some time, but i did. it was one of our most popular designs, but it didnโ€™t feel right because i wasnโ€™t making it for you.โ€
โ€ƒโ€ƒunpredictability, inconsistency, indecision โ€“ these are hallmarks of his behaviour that have landed him in similar predicaments time and time again, but thereโ€™s always an explanation ( an excuse, some may call it ). whether or not someone believes him, though, is where his troubles lie. he doesnโ€™t counter minkyuโ€™s choice of words with i am not. thatโ€™s too much attention on himself for a problem that is not his. he stops playing with the napkin.
โ€ƒโ€ƒโ€œi asked to change shifts because i wanted more chances to see you. i called off plans i had for weeks because i wanted to meet you โ€“ even if it was only for twenty minutes. i did a lot for you, minkyu, because i liked you just as much, if not more.โ€ he leans forward. underneath the table, his ankle brushes against minkyuโ€™s โ€“ something he often did back then. itโ€™s a timid act, almost as if to say, hey, iโ€™m into you, you know? โ€œyou made me happy, you really did, but twice now, youโ€™ve given me false hope. twice now, youโ€™ve lied.โ€
โ€ƒโ€ƒhe looks at minkyu dead in the eyes.
โ€ƒโ€ƒโ€œyou canโ€™t tell me that you love me and disappear. i deserve better than that.โ€

In Soji's company, Minkyu finds a vibrant energy that effortlessly bounces between them, making every impromptu idea feel like an adventure waiting to unfold. And with Soji's unwavering enthusiasm and willingness to embrace any spontaneous plan Minkyu crafts, the air is always tinged with excitement.
"Different accents? Sounds like a blast!" Minkyu's eyes light up with curiosity as he leans in, his finger tapping his chin thoughtfully. "I'm already well-versed in Busan satoori, being my hometown and all, but mastering Daegu satoori sounds like a challenge I'm up for. It's fascinating how the accents differ โ€“ in Busan, it's all about the back syllable, but in Daegu, it's the front syllable that takes center stage."
As ideas swirl in Minkyu's mind like colorful confetti, he suggests, "How about we try imitating a duo-script from a show? Or maybe an anime? Do you have a favourite?" His excitement is palpable, eyes sparkling with anticipation. "I have no doubt we'll make an amazing duo!"
๐Ÿป โ€”
Soji leaned forward, his eyes sparkling with interest as Minkyu spoke. He had felt an initial connection with his friend, but hearing about their shared interests and aspirations made him feel a rush of unanticipated excitement. "That's amazing, Minkyu!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "I had no idea you were interested in voice acting. It's such a fascinating field, isn't it? The way you can just create entire characters and worlds with just your voice is truly incredible."
"Let's practice right now?" his voice cracked a little towards Minkyu. He had always enjoyed experimenting with different voices and accents, and the opportunity to do so with his friend was too good to pass up. "I'm excited to try out some new accents I've been working on. Maybe we can even create some fun characters to voice together," he added, smirking.
Soji felt a sense of comradery with Minkyu. It became easy for him to admire his friend's endearing personality, but now that they were sharing their experiences, he found himself even more comfortable around him. With a smirk, he added, "Who knows, maybe we'll discover some hidden talents we never knew we had. Maybe we'll even become a great voice-acting team."

A tight knot forms in Minkyu's throat, suffocating him and making it difficult to breathe; let alone articulate his thoughts. His body tenses, instinctively readying for either confrontation or escape, as if his defenses are being breached, threatening the protective barriers he's meticulously built to shield himself from pain and heartache.
Though Rowon's words reach his ears, it takes a moment for them to register, disbelief slowly seeping into his consciousness as he finally turns to face him.
"What," he manages to croak out. Drawing a shaky breath, he clenches his fists, gripping the fabric of his denim jeans tightly, resisting the urge to accept the offered gesture of goodwill. "How dare you try to shift the blame onto me like that, when you're the one who led us into this mess in the first place?"
"You have the audacity to turn this around on me, after I opened up to you, after I trusted you, ... after I liked you so much." he continues, his voice quivering with suppressed anger. "I refuse to be the victim of your indecision and inconsistency." With a heavy sigh, he finally releases his grip on his jeans, reaching instead for the warmth of his cup, seeking solace in the familiar embrace of his hot beverage.
"I'm not afraid," he asserts. "But I refuse to subject myself to the pain of your unpredictability again. I deserve better than that."
โ€ƒโ€ƒhe stares. lets the silence stretch itself thin in the space between them. most people would become uncomfortable after a few seconds and scramble for excuses, stumbling over their words, saying anything and everything to make it less awkward. but when minkyu remains quiet, rowon decides to push forward.
โ€ƒโ€ƒโ€œโ€˜letโ€™s talk about this another time, at a more appropriate place.โ€™โ€ word for word, because of course, he remembers; his memory is exceptionally detailed despite him pretending otherwise. โ€œthatโ€™s what you said, and now, youโ€™re telling me you never had the intention? you couldโ€™ve easily said that you wanted nothing to do with me anymore. that wouldโ€™ve saved me a lot of time and spared me the disappointment and humiliation. ask Eunhee โ€“โ€ the barista. โ€œโ€“ how many hours iโ€™ve spent here, looking up whenever the bell chimes, only to see that itโ€™s not you. this is the second time, minkyu. you made me wait for you a second time.โ€
โ€ƒโ€ƒitโ€™s fortunate, really, that theyโ€™re the only ones in the cafe.
โ€ƒโ€ƒrowon settles back in his seat and drags the plate of pastries to his side. as he works on splitting them, he continues on in a lower voice, โ€œi miss having you in my company. i want to mend things. or at least, talk out what happened.โ€ he offers minkyu half of a blueberry scone.
โ€ƒโ€ƒโ€œwhat are you afraid of?โ€

THE HIDDEN ENEMY MUSICAL - REFLECTION SOLO.
Minkyu finds himself caught in a whirlwind of emotions, realising just how swiftly time has flown by. It seems like only yesterday when the news of landing a lead role in the upcoming musical filled him with unparalleled joy. Since then, his enthusiasm has only grown, each new experience adding fuel to his passion, each moment a cherished step towards living out his dream.
Seated across from the coach, a warm smile graces Minkyu's lips as he delves into discussing his progress and areas for further growth. "Over these past weeks, I believe I've made significant strides in my stage presence," he begins, his voice carrying the candidness of his convictions.
"Reflecting on my journey from my time with LGC Spring Boys, I've recognised a need to elevate my performance and command the stage, beyond just my prowess in dance. It's been a conscious effort to fill those gaps, to ensure that I captivate the audience's attention in every moment, given the immediacy of live theatre."
He pauses, allowing his words to sink in before continuing. "Moreover, I've also dedicated myself to refining my singing abilities, relishing the opportunity to showcase my vocal talent once more. It's been a rewarding journey, rediscovering the joy of singing on stage."
The coach responds with feedback, and Minkyu proceeds to speak only after he's asked about the areas that need improvement. "While I've seen considerable growth in my dancing since my days with Spring Boys, I recognise that there's still room for improvement," he admits humbly.
"Collaborating closely with the dance coach, I've been tirelessly working to imbue my movements with fluidity and authenticity, striving to move beyond mere choreography to convey genuine emotion and presence."
With a determined glint in his eyes, Minkyu concludes, "With performance day fast approaching, I'm pouring my heart and soul into this, striving to meet not only the audience's expectations but also my own aspirations. I'm committed to delivering a performance worthy of the stage and resonates with all who witness it."

THE HIDDEN ENEMY MUSICAL - REHEARSAL SOLO.
Rehearsing for the musical feels like a world apart from the preparations for a TV show or web series. In this world, Minkyu isn't just memorizing lines but also mastering songs. He quickly comes to appreciate that, although acting for the camera offers its own set of joys, nothing quite matches the adrenaline rush of performing live before an audience.
Time seems to warp in the practice room, with hours slipping by unnoticed, meals forgotten, as Minkyu dedicates himself entirely to perfecting the musical numbers.
It's not just the vocals that demand his attention; facial expressions, gestures, and overall physicality must all synchronize flawlessly to craft the ideal performance. He's perfectly aware of the immediacy and unforgiving nature of live theatreโ€”there are no retakes in front of a live audience if a note falls flat or a move misfires.
To aid his self-improvement, Minkyu begins recording his rehearsals, keen on identifying and correcting any missteps. This self-review process becomes an integral part of his preparation, enabling him to scrutinize his singing and acting through a more critical lens.
He reflects on previous vocal training sessions and the constructive feedback shared by fellow cast members. Armed with their insights and his own relentless drive for perfection, Minkyu is determined to enhance every aspect of his performance.
After numerous attempts and careful review of his recordings, he pinpoints areas for improvement. Drawing on the rich advice and training he's absorbed, Minkyu works tirelessly, iterating on his performance until he achieves a rendition he's completely satisfied withโ€”a testament to his dedication to his craft and the transformative power of live performance.
