"Damn straight I do," she said with a humourless laugh. None of it was funny. If anything, she was certain that after being alive for three decades, it finally has happened: Leticia Camila Oliveira has officially lost her mind. And unfortunately, there wasn't much she was sure she can do about it. Sure, if she didn't have her twins, maybe she'd be able to go someplace. While that could be a potential option and she knew that there were, fortunately, people in town who'd be more than willing to watch over Leia and Belle, she couldn't do that. She couldn't risk making them feel abandoned by doing that, even though she knew her girls would understand. "I have been thinking a lot lately about that. Right now, I think that the best thing for me to do is hand the reigns over the Comic Lab to someone else and put my writing career on a hiatus so that I can focus on the twins. I think we need to get away from the States for awhile, go on an adventure... but I think that once we come back, I think it's best for us to start fresh. And maybe move out of Providence Peak to either Denver or Colorado Springs or something." It wasn't the author's initial plans. She truly meant it when she said they were here for good. Yet Providence Peak wasn't the same place as it was before and above all, her daughters weren't happy there anymore. While she wanted to still be close enough where they could visit Rachel, Eli and Asli and Alex, Atlas, Ingrid, and Yasemin whenever they can, she was starting to believe that a complete fresh start might be the best choice for the three of them. Glancing over, she smiled softly. "Please---thank you for being so amazing. I don't know what I would do without you."

You know, after you've spent a couple of weeks of being one of the primary housing options for one of your best friends, an idiot of a man who's practically your big dumbass brother, you start to get worried after you haven't heard from him in awhile. At first, Leti thought nothing of it. She thought he might've been spending the night with Rachel or something. That is, until she gotten a text from her to deny her assumption. Then she texted a couple of other people before, finally, she texted Asli. And lo and behold, everyone, it was actually with Aslihan whom Elijah Falvey spent all night--and, apparently, all day even--with before he came strolling in through the Oliveira lar. She eyed him quietly for a moment, trying to decipher what it was, exactly, he was about to do. Was he gonna pack up his shit and leave? Was he going to act coy and string her along for a moment? Fortunately for him, he was right about the twins already being in bed. "Fine," she mused as she set down her book. "Mm-hmm. School in the morning, after all." Quietly, she waited. And waited. Was he going to be the first to crack? Would she be the first to? Leticia tried so hard not to be the one to give in to temptation. Unfortunately, that was basically damn near impossible. "So," she said. Eying him like a hawk and hoping to make him sweat. "Did you have a fun night... and day? It's been awhile since you've gone radio silent on me. I think it was because of a sexcapade Olympics-esque event with a certain brunette anthropologist. Coincidence or not?" Obviously, not. Yet she wanted him to squeal first.
LOCATION — Leticia's home. Sunday, February 26th.
WHO — Leticia ( @leticiaxoliveira ).
Coming back to Leticia's the night after spending one with Aslihan felt stupidly similar to a walk of shame, and he hated damn near everything about that realization. He shouldn't have even been there to begin with. It was foolish, and selfish, and having to walk away from her for a second time — even if it was made abundantly clear before he stepped foot in the house again, back when he'd agreed to come home at the Blue Wolf — pained him just as much as the first, knowing that they shared a chunk of time together that all could still mean nothing in the end. A part of him hoped to feel more clarity by being around her, but if anything, he wound up feeling even more confused. It was a horrible, horrible idea. And now Leticia was looking at him with suspicion as he plopped onto the pile of blankets on the pullout couch, undoubtedly wondering where he'd been when the last they spoke was a text message early Saturday night saying that he'd be back soon — only to never come. He hoped that she'd think he was at Rachel's, which was possible, given that he'd been bouncing between the two of them like a terribly depressing game of ping pong. But he had a feeling that even if she thought that at first, he wouldn't be able to pass it off for long; she had a knack for poking information out of him, regardless of whether he wanted to give. "So, how was your day?" he said casually, throwing one of the blankets over his body. "The girls go to bed yet?"

Leti shook their head. "I'm not sure how to," they admitted. "I mean, you know them: he's been more of myth than an actual person that they haven't been curious about him. But I've always been worried about them becoming curious about him. About having to tell them about our time together and how things changed basically within a blink of an eye. Of them asking me why he didn't choose them and not knowing how to answer that. I've always known that it'd happen eventually and it's only fair to tell them about him now... I'm just not sure how to go about it." Explaining to them why Luca and them were no longer married and together had been different. Explaining why they weren't with Yasemin anymore... that had been difficult. They didn't know the full truth about Leti and Carla still, yet they wanted to keep that way to stop them from potentially becoming angry with either or both of them. They still wanted the twins to view the woman in a good light. Yet above all, explaining those three instances were all so incredibly different from this, and that's why trying to tell the girls about Eren was even more challenging. "Work. He's a co-owner of one of the businesses here, that one multicontinental fusion place, and apparently hadn't realized we were here... yet apparently had been trying to find us, so I'm not sure what is the truth."

"It's not becoming an issue, I'm definitely more than happy to have him here and the twins adore him being here as well. I just hate seeing him be in pain yet not speaking about it or about what happened." The young author pouted at her friend's words. She knew, annoyingly, that Rachel was right. After all, the journalist has had first-hand experience to Leti's own meddling. Which, she now felt guilty about. While she was still not ready to forgive the woman's ex-husband for how he ended things, she did worry if all the times she messed with him if it could've been a reason as to why he decided he no longer wanted to be with Rachel. "I'm sorry," she said genuinely. "I know that there's nothing I can really do now about it... But for what it's worth, I'm sorry for my meddling and teasing with you and Charlie. I didn't..." Leticia sighed. She was an expert at ruining her own relationships; She worried that she was also an expert at ruining others. And god, the last thing she wanted to do was risk ruining Eli and Asli's relationship as well. "I'm not trying to treat them as fictional characters that I'm writing. But they are my friends. And I don't... I don't want to see them in pain anymore." She felt helpless in it all, especially when she knew that the two were still so much in love with each other. "I want them to be happy. And I'm worried that they're going to regret this time spent apart and wish that they'd work things out sooner or something. I just want them to be happy, Rach."

Leti knew that they missed Yasemin. At least, the friendship they originally had. Ever since Yas spotted them hanging out out an NA meeting nearly over a month ago, they’ve been taking up on their offer to talk with her. Speaking with her ex had been incredibly helpful, yet part of Leti still felt like they were taking some sort of advantage of Yas and her kindness. No matter how many times the other told them that it was okay and that they weren’t. While the author was doing better now concerning everything that happened at the beginning of the New Year, they still haven’t told her about Eren. Admittedly, they’ve only talked with Rachel about him. A part of Leti hoping that it was all a dream. Yet, realistically, they knew it wasn’t. And they needed to talk about it more. “I need to tell you something,” they finally said. Having spent a moment just sipping at their drink and nibbling on the cookie from the cafeteria. “The girls’ biological father... He’s in town. I saw him a few weeks ago, but I’m still processing it all. I haven’t seen him since our graduation and I just... was really thrown off seeing him.” Or how, beneath all the anger and heartache, her heart still found itself beating happily over this knowledge. Even after all these years and having moved on, he still got to her in a way she hoped he no longer did.

What was he doing here? She hasn’t seen Eren since the morning after she kicked him out of her house, trying to do all she could to forget that morning and the night before. Yet, she couldn’t. She couldn’t stop thinking about her ex. Mainly, she couldn’t stop thinking about how she was suppose to tell their daughters that after twelve years, their father was living in the same town as them. Leia and Belle haven’t expressed much curiosity in their biological father, which originally had been a factor that she cherished. It was so much easier not to talk about him nor to explain to them why he wasn’t around. Yet, with his presence, it was becoming harder and harder. Especially right now: she and the girls were at Benny and Duke’s, ready to eat as much pizza and wings as possible and play all sorts of games, when she noticed him. While the twins were playing a round of laser tag, she’d gone up to the counter to order their food before she saw him again. With her order set in and given her table number, she finally walked over to Eren. “You need to leave,” she said in lieu of a ‘hello’. “Look, I haven’t haven’t talked with them about you being in town. And I really don’t want you around them. So please either leave or just stay away from us. Alright?”

“On a scale of one to why-am-I-even-asking-you-this: do you think I should go all Parent Trap on Eli and Asli? Because it’s starting to get really depressing waking up every morning to him still being on my pull-out instead of back home. Even the twins are starting to notice how sad this is.” Of course, no couple is perfect. And sometimes, there are rocky moments where you can’t fix everything. This, however, was becoming straight up depressing by now. The hardest part was knowing and seeing just how much the two loved each other yet still struggling right now. Yet with the man in question at his studio and the girls at school, she was taking the opportunity to talk with Rachel. Adjusting herself, she relaxed in her other couch opposite Eli’s temporary home, blankets and pillows still left in place. She needed to do laundry and clean everything; She had no idea just how tear-stained that stuff is now. “I know my antics in the past haven’t had the best results... But seriously, I’m worried about them.”

By the look on Leti’s face, the brunette could tell something was wrong. Only when the young woman started talking she realized it was more than just a bad day, or the lack of sleep that troubled her. “That sounds like.. a lot.” And understandably, it wasn’t a light topic to bring up to them, or easy to deal with. “I think you should just talk to them. Sometimes honesty is the best way to deal with situations like this. It’s not going to be easy, but you can understand what their feelings are and they can see that they can open up to you about anything. Your girls are smart – just talk to them.” Being forced to grow up early and take up responsibilities Ingrid was never meant to have, she could speak from her own experience and suggest that honesty could be the key to at least half of her problems. Sometimes, all they needed was to have a heart to heart conversation. Trusting an adult could be difficult, but Leti was doing so much more for these two girls just by being present, that the brunette doubted anything could go wrong. Smiling softly at her, she nodded her head a little. “Only if you promise to sign it for me.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nodding, all Leti could do was let out a soft humorless laugh. “That’s not even all of it,” she admitted softly. “I did something really stupid on New Year’s Eve and while I haven’t done it again, I still feel awful about it. And then their biological father is running around town and I’m not sure how to tell them about him. It’s just... It’s a lot. My fucking god, it’s all a lot and I just... I just wish I wasn’t doing this alone. But I fuck up every single effort I make at trying to make that a reality and I’m tired. I’m so tired, Ingrid. I just want to give them everything they deserve and for things to not turn to shit again after a brief moment of happiness. I just... I just can’t do this anymore.” It was exhausting. It was all so much and quite frankly, Leti was ready to throw in the towel. And she knew that her friend was right. It stung and she wish that there was another, better way where Leia and Belle were able to get what they wanted, but she knew that she needed to be honest with them. And she was tired. Because once she’s honest with them, then that’s it. She’ll have let her daughters down once again. “I wish you weren’t right,” she admitted with a soft whimper. “God, why am I such a fucking failure? I swear, once these two are adults, they’re never going to want to be around me and I hate that. I try so hard for them yet I feel like I’m always failing them. They never voice it, but I know that it’s all too much.” Her daughters deserve the world. And she was trying to give it to them. She truly was trying. Unfortunately, it didn’t feel like it was enough. Looking up, she smiled softly. Sniffling a little and nodding her head. “You’ll be one of the firsts, after my girls’ and Rachel. I promise.”

“Whoever thought this up deserves either the best rewards in Heaven or the worst punishment in Hell. I still haven’t decided on that one yet.” Leti has never really been one for visual arts. Sure, if they were suppose to paint an entire wall one certain colour or another basic technique, they could do it. But to paint an entire canvas? While also tipsy on wine? Fuuuuuuuuuck that. However, Leticia didn’t come here for the painting itself. When they talked with Phoebe after learning about it, the thought of coming to this with her automatically crossed their mind. And quite frankly, the author was more than ready to spend any and as much time with the other as possible. Despite their initial hesitations, Leti found themself enjoying the event. Then again, they were certain that it was Phoebe more than the actual event that they were enjoying. “You know, when we’re sober tomorrow, we have to compare our masterpieces. See if they match up as well as we thought or at least have a good laughing session over our tipsy selves and what we were thinking.”

You know what? Maybe they have been avoiding Nathan. Maybe they have been keeping their distance and not really talking with him much the past few months. Maybe it was incredibly immature and was bond to bite them in the ass one day. Maybe that day was today. Though in the author’s defense, they hadn’t been expecting to see the older man there. Admittedly, Leticia hadn’t intended on visiting the store either. Yet it was time to get some new supplies so lo and behold, here they are. They’d been on their phone, using a photo of the toy as a reference to one of the workers there for what they’d been looking for, when Leti looked up and noticed Nate. Freezing and slightly hoping that he won’t notice them or, at the very least, will ignore them. No, it was not mature in the slightest bit. Yet considering that their ex-girlfriend-slash-his personal assistant was now fucking his brother and potentially behind his back, maturity was nowhere within this universe right now.

Though it cut a significant amount of time out of her own lunch break, Phoebe liked to detour to see Leti at work. She found the space calming, in a college dorm way, even if she didn’t get what all the nicknacks were. It was a nice change of pace from the lobby of the Peak Seasons, which was silent in a suspensful, horror movie way.
“You know, I discovered today if you play some of the little Star Wars tunes on Spotify, the progress bar turns into a lightsaber,” She told her friend with a grave nod, as if sharing the wisdom of the universe to her. “Um, and that’s as much as all this stuff I can talk about.”

“You know, you’re going to kill me one of these days with your lack of pop culture knowledge. I feel like I’ve been failing you and that needs to be corrected, babe.” Glancing over at her, her features warmed up. Her smile being playful as she relaxed back in her office futon. Of course, Leti appreciated the information over ‘this stuff’ that her friend bestowed upon her. And she was absolutely ready to do all that she can to help her learn more and more. Sooner or later, Phoebe Yates was going to earn her degree in Nerd Culture. She was going to make sure of that.
With her head tilting, one of her brows rose and she beamed. “You know, this actually leaves me thinking: do you have plans this weekend? The twins and I are marathoning the Star Wars franchise, by complete coincidence, and we’re planning on starting Friday night straight on until Sunday night as well. We’d love to have you with us. Help you gain more Star Wars knowledge, hear Leia’s badass Yoda impression, maybe even eat some food inspired by the franchise. I promise, I’m not cooking that. I’m buying as many Star Wars-inspired food from Jeanie’s café as possible.” Searching her friend’s features, her smile grew more hopeful. “Please? It’ll be a lot of fun!”

Tumblr media
People screwed up sometimes, Yasemin knew to expect that, and she had learned over the years that it wasn’t worth judging people for it. Tearing people apart for their mistakes was easy to do, but usually that wasn’t what they needed. People needed support through life to make it work and Yas was always willing to be that person, the support center that was necessary to help others move forward. While it didn’t always leave a lot of room for herself and her own troubles, she’d long since accepted that fact. Her role in life was to help other people, to be there when they had no one else. “Leti, let’s…maybe start by not keeping a list of all the things you think you’ve done wrong, hm? Life shouldn’t be about keeping score and focusing on everything you’ve messed up, it should be about just moving forward and always trying to be better,” she suggested as a starting point. Yas had seen how quickly people could get dragged down by their faults, how they let the mistakes sit and simmer until it completely overtook their lives. From her perspective, that wasn’t a good way to live. She was all for owning up to your mistakes and making amends, but you couldn’t let that define who you are as a person. Biting her lip, Yas gave a slow nod, not sure that she loved the way that all of this was playing out. She wanted to be there and wanted to help, but the idea of Leticia completely tossing her aside afterwards didn’t sit well with her. As much as she’d been hurt by what had happened between them, that didn’t mean there was no room for forgiveness eventually. “Again, this…isn’t about me dealing with you. I don’t - you don’t have to stay away completely.”
Tumblr media
She winced slightly. “Sorry,” she mumbled. Clearing her throat before she tucked some of her curls behind her ear. Her words reminded her too much of Rachel’s and she knew that if the journalist was here right now, she would be agreeing with the doctor full-heartedly. Proof that the author was wrong in her self-belief of everyone thinking she’s a burden. Though, frankly, Leti believed that Yasemin had every right to view her as such. So having her ex being insistent on helping her and gently trying to get her to stop holding such views on herself... She couldn’t express how it made her feel. It felt undeserving yet it also felt hopeful. That she wasn’t as hopeless to growth as she felt. It only grew more as Yas continued. Her words causing her to pause and look up at her, brows furrowed and mouth slightly gaped open. “Wh-What?” It came out as more of a bewildered whisper. After their reunion at the Holiday Market, Leticia was more than convinced that the other would only tolerate her if the twins were involved. Something that she was more than okay with complying to. The last thing she wanted was to make the other uncomfortable. So hearing this... It made her wonder if potentially, they could be friends again. “Are you... A-Are you sure? Yas, I don’t... I don’t want to hurt you again or make you uncomfortable or anything of the sort. I... I want to be a part of your life again. I want us to work on that, to be friends again, and I know that the girls would be happy to have you around more often. But I don’t... I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable or feel like you’re being forced or anything, especially because of this. Are you sure this is what you want and believe is best for you, for us?”

His concern didn’t fade after laying eyes on her, but the last time he’d gone full force on giving a shit about one of his friends, it had ended with them swinging on him and while he figured that it wasn’t her wheelhouse of reactions, he wasn’t going to risk it. “Usually when someone says that, it’s something that might get me in trouble,” he countered, a devilish smirk playing slightly on his mouth. The question flipped into a statement was only supported by the look he’d given her. He was arrogant to play Iron Man, insecure enough too. “That’s a tough question. Let me start by saying you should I’m team Marvel. DC has good stuff, but you can’t really compare the two.” Marvel’s cinematic universe blew DC’s out of the water, but their comics were a little more side by side in terms of quality. “Let me think on it for a second.” He’d give an answer, just after he’d a moment to stir.
“I know. I want to build onto it, but she’s right. We need more space, so that’s my plan.” There wasn’t much more he could do with the foundation of a house meant to be nothing more than it was. He’d already turned it into more of a home than it had ever been. Without hesitation, he offered a nod of acceptance. It didn’t matter how full his plate got, it had always make times for those closest to him that needed his help. “Just tell me when and what you want and I’ll be here. I might even get some help from one of the guys I work with if you’re looking to get it done quickly?” He’d only pick the best of the best, ensuring that whatever she wanted was done to utter perfection. “I don’t see why people like it. Cinnamon,” he added, forehead wrinkling as he scrunched his nose. “Vanilla is good though. Thanks.”
Tumblr media
"You know, if you keep looking at me, I’m legally obligated to whack you with a throw pillow. I got a billion scattered all around this place; I’ll start a war if I have to.” Glancing at Atlas, she kept her features serious for a moment before smiling softly. “I’m going to be okay, Wolf Boy. Just... be by my side, okay?” After her discussion with Rachel in the Wonderwell parking lot, Leticia found herself exhausted with constantly believing she deserved the worst in life. With believing that she didn’t deserve to have friends who loved her. While things weren’t back to complete normal with the older man, he more than once proved that he cared about her in the past. And him being there now only helped further prove that. She chuckled before she grabbed a Kleenex and wove it around. “Easy, boy, easy! What I have in mind is mostly aligned with the comics with a few influences from the movies. It’s going to require a lot of acting, though... But I think you’d be great at it. Go ahead and mull it over; I could also see you being a good Mr. Fantastic or Batman, if it helps any.”
Nodding, Leti found herself agreeing more with the building onto his house than buying a new one. “I mean, as they say: Água mole em pedra dura, tanto bate até que fura. ‘Soft water, hard stone, beats until it punctures.’ You’ve been living there for so long now and have spent years turning it into a home; If anyone could add extra space to that place, it’s you. Asli told me you got a new job with a construction company. Have you talked with your boss to check the place out and see if it’s doable?” Maybe getting some insight from his boss could help even more. Either way, the author hoped that Atlas will get to keep his current home. Nodding, she smiled softly as she worked on their drinks. “Sounds good. Don’t worry, I don’t have a certain time or date when I want to get everything done. This... is my forever home. I have time.” No matter how rough things were currently with Carla and everything, Providence Peak was her home. She wasn’t planning on leaving anytime soon. Scoffing, she rolled her eyes playfully. “Oh, grow up. There’s a reason why it’s beloved in basically every single culture ever. Cilantro, it’s understandable because of that stupid soap-tasting gene. Cinnamon? Now, if you don’t have an allergy, then you’re just being picky.” Despite her words, she smiled warmly before holding a mug out to the man. “How’s Maggie? I saw Alex earlier and nearly sobbed over how big she’s getting.”

rachel hargrove:
*
Rachel’s heart sunk when Leticia started listing off people they thought they had been a burden to or had thought that they were a burden. Top of the list was their parents. It was difficult to say what these people did or did not think of Leti, but also that meant that Leti was telling what they thought that these people thought. She wanted to argue the point, but it felt useless when all the author wanted to hear was that they were horrible and Rachel refused to feel that way. “I am not telling you what to think and feel. I’m telling you how I think and feel about you. And trying to show you how you would treat someone else going through what you’re going through. I do wish you would give yourself some leniency here. That is all I am trying to say. You’re right I don’t know what those people thought or think about you other than what I was told, Leti. Just because I love you though and I am going to be here by your side doesn’t mean I support these types of thoughts and I will not just sit here and let you talk ill of yourself.” She knew that they had a lot to process right now and knew that she herself didn’t always process things healthily either. She was trying her best to listen though and would continue to do so and keep the advice to a minimum now that she knew it was unwanted. She knew her role in Leticia’s life and sometimes that meant that sometimes she loved them more than they could love themself. And maybe sometimes she didn’t know best or know how to say the right things in situations like this, but it didn’t mean she would go anywhere.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They wanted to ask if Rachel realized that she and the twins might be the only people in the world who thought that. That they might be the only people who genuinely didn’t see them as some burden. Or at least, they were the only people that Leti could admittedly believe didn’t view them as such. While there were more than a handful of people that the author loved, they had a hard time believing if they might or might not see them the same way they and so many others have viewed them. Or if they might be with the same tiny club as the twins and Rachel. Leti didn’t know, yet they knew that the journalist would believe that and try her damn hardest to make sure that they saw the same thing. “What did I do to deserve you?” Leti hadn’t meant to say that out loud. Especially not when they knew it could just open the door. Yet as they looked back at her, they felt tired. Tired of trying to fight her, tired of fighting themselves, and tired of only being able to view themselves like this. “Sorry,” they mumbled. “I... I-I’m, I’m sorry... I know you just said...” Shaking their head after scanning her friend’s lighter eyes, they swallowed the lump that was forming in their throat. “I don’t... I don’t know how to do that. I don’t know how to treat myself with grace. I can do it to someone else, but for myself? It’s hard. I don’t know how to get myself to believe I deserve better after spending so long not believing that. I don’t... I don’t know how.”

eren ercel:
Even if he’d been sober, or half as sober as he was last night and they introduced themselves he’d still not be able to tell that it was Leti he hooked up with. Was it smart to hook up with someone who he didn’t even know the name of? Probably not but she was so beautiful, she fit so good against him, he couldn’t resist. Smiling as he opened his eyes and felt the kiss on his lips. Only hoping he would be able to do this again sooner rather than lately. Only he heard the girl speak, and the familiar voice clicked in his head, as he heard her process it all as well, but his body wasn’t moving even though his mind was telling him to. “Leti” he said softly. “I-uh-what are you doing here?” He said mentally kicking himself for those words.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part of her always found herself thinking about him. Wondering where he was right now, what he was doing, who he has become. Nothing could express how sad and angry that made her. She was suppose to know all those things already. They were suppose to be at least married for ten years by now, watching their daughters grow up and be by each other’s side through every thick and thin. Leticia wondered if it was worth it. If lying to both of their parents and whatever has happened the past twelve years was worth missing out on a life together and with Leia and Belle. “What am I doing here...?” She echoed those words softly with a slight laugh of disbelief. Finally everything registered slowly and all the heartache, all the rage, all the loneliness she’s felt since the day he lied and abandoned them came back to her. “Twelve years. Twelve years... And that’s the best you can fucking say?! What am I doing here?!” Her voice rose slightly as she quickly got out of his arms and out of her bed. Leti quickly grabbed a spare throw blanket to wrap around her body. Even though, frankly, that was pointless now after everything that happened last night. A surge of guilt coursed through as she remembered. How was she suppose to tell the twins about him? Around the last they saw each other, they found out that she was a couple of weeks pregnant, about two months before she found out she was having twins. She never told him about them having two kids together. “What are you doing here?! How did you even learn of Providence Peak in the first place?”
