so you're saying doc has a lot of empathy even when she shouldn't, and I actually agree because I remember when I was reading that part in the last chapter where she said that she tried to hate Dabi but couldn't because of his tough childhood, that's not an excuse and that made me very mad at her lol😂 wouldn't this put her at risk of being stockholm syndromed? And shouldn't She be aware of that?

I feel you! If we think about how trauma impacts the brain, we know that output from areas that handle emotions, decision-making, and memory is affected — to put it very simply. We see here that doc is feeling empathetic one moment, then wishing death on Dabi the next; she goes back and forth. We also notice that the decisions she’s making aren’t sound all of the time. And hey, human error happens, but we can’t forget that she do be dysregulated from all that’s been done to her. The fact that she’s still in an abusive environment and she’s coping at all speaks to her resilience. And it’s one of the things I truly love exploring in the characters I write.

Really, my girl just needs to get away from this psychopath and attend therapy of her own istg

Fr tho I think psychologists have a lot of empathy, some empathy, or no empathy. Obviously, we can see that doc is the formermost, giving a damn even when she shouldn’t, in the midst of her own trauma. She’s gotta survive, but there’s something else there, too, and that’s a genuine ethic of care. I’ve met people in the profession who don’t give up on clients — who literally push themselves to the limit to do right by their clients — and that’s what I have in mind when I’m writing Thief. I love the idea of a character with an abundance of empathy being subjected to a character with low empathy ✨

Girl I just read the new robw chapter and I wanna say that you were spot on with that hallway/forest analogy earlier because with each chapter he is revealing more and more of his thoughts and intentions regarding her and I'm just like :😦😧😨😰😱

He’s just getting more and more out of hand 👀 speaking of, I got a little wild with the degradation but I think it fits his character in this AU. Thinking of taking it darker the next time around 😏

The way I’m rooting for doc to compare Dabi to Enji in terms of how he treats her so he’ll finally have a wake up call but also knowing he’d beat the shit out of her in retaliation 😭😭😭

Yeah, she already eluded to that earlier and it did not go well for her… but in this next chapter, I included a cute lil flashback, where Dabi’s thinking about how doc therapied the fuck out of him back at the ward and simultaneously made him fall for her 🥹 he’s so fucking twisted

Yandere!Hawks attaches one of his feathers to you so that he always knows where you are, what you’re doing, and who you’re with. He’s used to your natural vibrations, as well as those around you… and he’s rather perceptive of the way some of your male friends’ voices dip in tone speaking with you.

He claims it’s a security measure with the rising crime in Japan. All the same, there’s a reason you don’t know about his surveillance. You’re still coming around; you’re not even his yet.

You told him you only see him as a friend, but he knows that can’t be true. Why do you wear those cute little outfits around him? Why do you grasp his arm when you talk to him excitedly about something interesting unfolding in your personal life? Why did you introduce him to your best friend when you two happened to run into her on the street? All of these behaviours reveal that you want him, but your prudish attitude is an obstruction.

So, he keeps his feathers close by, sensing you every waking moment of his day, and taking note of everyone you come into contact with. He’s already disposed of a few friends who had ill intentions. He’s not afraid to take care of anyone else who threatens your safety — or his chance to be with you. You’re meant to be his.

Summary: As a psychologist at a psychiatric ward for villains, you’re used to encountering cruelty and treating trauma. But your days of freedom are unknowingly numbered when a new patient arrives. It’s then that you learn his compliance to your wishes comes at a hefty price — one you can’t possibly agree to.

“Think it’s time to take you back with me.”

It’s as though a bell is chiming in your head. It’s distant and faint. Part of you tries to implore that you heard him wrong, because the hell in which you exist is never ending. You didn’t, though; that was real.

You want to leap for joy. You abstain, of course. He bought your ploy of submissiveness. You fucking tricked him. Beyond that, you’re getting out of here. You’re not getting out of this arrangement unscathed, but there’s an end in sight. Being in the populated world again grants you the opportunity to flee without having to bypass chains, a padlocked door, and soundproofing. Others will know where you are. Maybe, if you’re lucky, a real hero will recognize you, and word will disperse that you’re still alive.

You grasp how fat of a chance that is. They found the remains your captor planted. Hawks made a statement. They probably had a fucking funeral for you already, giving some closure to your relatives. No one will be looking for you.

You also understand that it’s premature to amplify your hope. For all you know, this could be another trap. Dabi isn’t the brightest bulb in the pack when it comes to emotions and anatomy, though he’s certainly cunning. After all, he’s conquered death. Bearing his trickery in mind, you dull the moths in your chest — fluttering in anticipation for light — and swallow your yips of triumph. The only part of you that’s beyond your control is a minute stutter.

“T-to the base?”

Graciously, he doesn’t pick up on it.

“Yeah.” He reaches down to take hold of your chin. “Old one got fucked, so we took a better one from a group of anti-mutant cultists.”

He was never so happy to kill people and steal their belongings. Those who subscribe to the idea that individuals with physical mutation quirks are lesser have their heads up their asses. He’s lost count of how many times someone’s called him ugly. Fortunately, he can hide his burnt form and avoid most of the bad attention. He can only imagine what people like Spinner go through, however, having a tail and scaled skin. He’s glad to cleanse this society of stupid ideologies while advancing his own agenda.

“You ready, doc?” He prompts you.

You nod quickly. It’s a bit too eager, but you can’t restrain yourself. You’ve been prepared to depart since you arrived. Isolation did a number on you. The dark is as threatening as the arsonists' touch. The lantern he kept lit for you only fuelled your nightmares, as shadows danced on the stone walls and you confided in your hallucinations. Lines have been blurred, and you don’t feel like yourself anymore.

Anyways nah I’m just gonna write whatever ending fits best when the time comes because I find raw dogging this story works for my inspo ✨ no expectations from anyone but myself that way. But as I said in a previous post, there’s one ending everyone can rule out, and that’s the reader dying. I’m just not into killing off the main character unless I intentionally plan for the story to go that way from the start. Thief is 100% not that kinda story. Like, expect the worst, but not that bad.

When he was growing up, his uncle taught him that women are fragile creatures. They can never hope to overpower a man hungry with desire, whether it’s to rape or kill; that’s why husbands are meant to protect their wives, and not vice versa. Modern day feminists may argue otherwise, but these are a class of people who are pushing for change during times of war. Levi has no respect for those who can’t simply be grateful for their lives, rather than unnecessarily overcomplicating an already tense political climate.

You’re not like them, though; he has a feeling you’d be happy as a housewife.

Meanwhile, you’re overcome with emotion. You get the sense that he cares for you, that he wants to empower you. You've never felt this way about a man. The trouble with them is that they always try to take away your freedom in one way or another. Stay at home and cook for me. Don’t study any of that crap, bear my children and settle down. You could groan at the prevalent wave of sexism that’s washing over the land. You anticipate that Shiganshina will remain rooted in the past. Much like the architecture of this town, the beliefs of those around you are also outdated.

Levi’s different. As tough of an exterior as he portrays, he believes in you. He’s getting you involved in his mission. While he doesn’t entirely trust that you can handle yourself — especially after learning that you endangered yourself by racing towards an active fire — he knows you’ll do your best to accomplish any task he gives you. He doesn’t dismiss you because you’re a woman; he isn’t like most men of the military. You’re enamoured by his faith in you.

I personally feel like robw Levi is less evil and abusive than Wpbo (at least till now) 🤔 but maybe that's because he is still hiding things and hasn't shown his complete Yandere side yet. Would love to compare them both once he shows his true colours 😈

It’s like he’s too nice in this iteration, right? I wanted to lead-up to be real sinister to reflect this ongoing theme of creeping horror.

Like, have you ever found yourself walking down a dark hallway, or making your way through a forest at night? You know there’s nothing behind you, as you continue to your destination, but you can’t shake the feeling that someone’s there. They’re in the shadows, lurking, watching you so intently that their eyes will be pure bloodshot if you ever turn around to face them. You find yourself walking faster at the sheer image of a stalker on your tail, until you’re finally in light; in safety. But even then, you don’t look back. Part of you is afraid it wasn’t just your imagination, that you’ll discover the true horrors of this world if you do. So you never, ever turn around.

That’s what I want you to feel when you’re reading robw, and what I hope translates when shit starts getting real with yandere Levi in future chapters

So what exactly does Dabi have planned for doc’s endgame? We all know he’s canonically suicidal and wants to kill Endeavor, along with himself, so where does that leave doc? Will he let her go? Kill her before the war? Leave her trapped in the house until she either escapes or starves to death? I remember on your old blog, you said one of the alternative endings for doc will be a “fate worse than death” but I can’t think of anything worse other than Dabi killing doc, whether it be by his flames or starvation…

To be honest, I don’t fuck with killing the reader unless it’s completely unavoidable. I can 100% promise you it’s not gonna happen in Thief 😌
