Tumgik
Hey, quick thing, something up? I can see you aren’t dead or something (thankfully) but has writer’s block or something catching your interest come along, hence you not really doing much on your legendary-Pokémon-are-more-common-relatively au blog?
Hey! Yeah it's hyperfixation problems + abruptly super busy IRL but more than that...opening Tumblr on my laptop sometimes makes it freak the hell out so badly that I have to restart, especially if any video comes up. Not sure what exactly the cause is on that but I'm working on figuring it out/getting a workaround so I can open Tumblr without risking my entire laptop lose its mind.

Since you’re posting here again, I’ll just ask this quick: Are you able to quickly find the last submitted post I did pre-Hiatus or is there, most likely, a month’s worth of asks burying it?
Naturally, if it’s the latter, I’ll just remake it or make a new post so you don’t have to dig it out. No big loss in that case, plus with what’s been ruled as fair game, I could set up some things related to such things
((It's still there! I'm just waiting to answer it until I finish one post that's currently in my drafts. One of the Pokemon you brought up - not mentioning it for the sake of the surprise - I wanted to post about before mentioning it in any asks or anything. And honestly, there aren't a ton of asks - about ten, which is more than doable. The post will probably go up tomorrow or so, and your ask soon after!))

The Jenova Update
So! Things have been...complicated. But I'm sure everyone remembers Jenova, the Arceus Shard that was basically dropped in my lap. Figuring out how to handle her has taken some time, but she's now settled into her new situation - and I thought you might like to hear what it is. Below the cut, so I don't clog any dashes more than necessary.
I had, honestly, no desire to keep Jenova on as one of my Pokemon. To put it simply, I'm not in any position to take on an Arceus Shard as a Pokemon - especially one who, understandably, didn't choose to be in my care at all. As such, I am not her legal Trainer, and only was for about an hour. However, she has agreed that I can say I had an Arceus Shard at one point, for the cool factor.
Technically, right now, Jenova is the lab's Pokemon. She emancipated herself as belonging to herself - something any Pokemon capable of communication can do - and took ownership of her own Pokeball. And then, immediately, she designated our lab as a trusted holder of her Pokeball, registered herself as a lab Pokemon, and turned her ball over to the lab where it's currently being held in a secure location.
As such, she is her own Trainer, but we are responsible for her and her ball by her own choice, because she decided to remain here. She's more of an employee now than anything - she has her own office, which is being furnished for her (door enlargement, rearranging furniture so she has space, etc). She's also on payroll as a protector Pokemon - officially, her job is to prevent any dangers like Paradox Pokemon attacks or poaching attempts. She is our biggest, scariest line of defense.
Unofficially, she's mostly here to learn about the present, work with the Sinnoh League, and just enjoy herself. She's also consented to be studied - simple things like taking measurements, checking up on her health, and similar things. From that, we've determined that she's slightly shorter than the Original, with longer fur - and while that may not seem like much, it's huge news! We finally know for sure that Shards are NOT direct physical copies of their progenitor. She has physical and mental characteristics - a preference for she/her pronouns among them - that they do not, and it seems that Shards are more autonomous than most initially believed, though the Original still receives their memories.
She's settling in quite well, all things considered. I think Violet is helping and Giblets is 'helping' her rearrange her new office a bit right now while Tesla and Lilith are outside getting some sun and not-very-subtly watching, hah. Jenova seems to enjoy human food, amusingly enough...specifically coffee and pastries. A lot of the lab - myself included - are trying hard to get along with her, which has led to...too many donut runs.
All in all, things are going well. And I really don't envy the next person who tries breaking in to the lab.

((Hey guys! Finished the fic I mentioned in this answer today...at 5am. It's 23.5k words, and still being edited, but I thiiink I'm over it enough to post on this blog again! Sorry for vanishing, I spent this entire month in a Stanley Parable-flavored haze of sanic speed writing))
Wrtier’s block and/or college hitting you hard right now, I presume?
Honestly, no, I'm just having a hyperfixation and it's consuming my life (The Stanley Parable), as soon as my brain lets go of the death grip a little I'll be back :)
I've written over thirty thousand words of fic (probably closer to 40k by now) in a little over three weeks. However, I've also almost finished my first...not quite longfic, but fic over two chapters :)

Hello everyone! Mod Zoroark - the one running @darktypehuman - here! I decided to go ahead and make the network account for pokeblogging accounts! This blog is still a heavy wip, as I'm still working on the blank copy of the bio, but I hope to start adding accounts as soon as possible!
I'm restricting it to just pokeblogging accounts (IE, those who mostly just pretend to be their oc on tumblr, and don't like, rp in-person interactions between characters primarily) since I think if I listed every person who uses the pokemon irl tag I would be here forever.
Please spread this post around to let everyone know about this account! @realpokemon Hope it's okay to tag you, you're the most popular account I know of for this!

So...I have a feeling they aren't allowed...what's your stance on crossovers involving stuff outside of Pokemon being done here?
I anticipate it not being allowed, just was curious about that since the rules don't outright say so. Pokemon is already with a series with rifts in time and space (at least two that can happen without any person's intent, being Ultra Wormholes (Cosmog line) and Space-Time Rifts (as far as I'm aware, given the random ones in Hisui), so justifying them isn't hard)
((Honestly, I had to think on this one for a while, as I didn't anticipate it ever coming up - but I'm going to say crossovers are all good as long as any of these are true:
a) it's coherent to anyone who knows nothing about the canon
b) it's a general pop-culture reference that most people are likely to understand
c) any info needed to know what's up is in the ask/message/reblog
or d) anything need-to-know is simple/easily accessible without consuming the canon material.
Basically, as long as nobody has to watch a show/let's play, read a book, or go on a deep dive to understand what's being talked about, it's cool! Because yeah, haven't had opportunity knock to talk about it but this blog takes place in a multiverse - it's how I'm 'reconciling' the existence of my blog's 'canon' with other people's whose headcanons are very different from mine. I don't really want this blog to become crossover-focused, it's a Pokeblog at heart, but I certainly don't mind crossovers.))

Howdy professor! Valkyrie here! I wanted to share a moment I had with Bitts recently! When I’m especially stressed I tend to go and brush the nearest Pokémon with fur to calm down and usually Bitts doesn’t let me brush or touch him very much. But recently he shoved a brush into my hand and let me brush him! He’s very, very soft.
All in all a big milestone for us both I believe!
That's wonderful to hear! Darkrai are surprisingly soft to the touch, and while they can be reclusive, they enjoy a decent brush like most Pokemon do. Grooming almost any Pokemon is generally a great bonding activity, even with Pokemon who don't have fur. It sounds like a great milestone and a calming activity for both of you!

18. Do you prefer to let your pokémon learn moves naturally, or do you supplement their learning with TMs?
Personally, I like supplementing learning with TMs. They're reusable, versatile, and can really expand a Pokémon's movepool. I'm not a competitive battler myself nor do I do gym circuits, but I like giving my team the most options. In my line of work, versatility goes a long way - it certainly helped with battling Lilith.

So recently all my flowers are dying all at once even though I kept them very well cared for, and my Clefable Gretchen kept pulling me towards the woods behind my house like there's something in there that needs my attention. So I follow her and sure shit enough, there's a frickin' Yveltal nesting on a tree five minutes away from my house. I'm gonna have catch it to stop it from killing my flowers, but please please please help I have no idea where to go from there.
That's quite the situation you're in! Unfortunately, catching Yveltal won't help with the flower problem. In fact, it might make it worse. If an Yveltal is unintentionally killing nearby plant life, it may be unwell or tired - leaving some Pokemon food out in the area or having one of your Pokemon use a healing move on it would probably be much more helpful than catching it, unless it needs to go to a Center. Even then, catching a Pokemon like that...isn't really a decision that's best made rashly. Think it through!
In the meantime, look out for these symptoms that Yveltal is unwell, if it is you might have to call for some help:
Graying of the beak/head area and wings.
Despondency, sitting unmoving and awake for long periods of time.
Injury of any form, difficulty moving.
Drinking in life-force from everything in the area, particularly if this is in lieu of hunting.
Crying out seemingly randomly.
Dull or broken claws/horns, or limpness in the feathers around its neck.
Either extremely hostile or extremely uncaring behavior towards any approaching it.

Hello again, Professor. I took your advice and ordered a Silph Scope to check out that mystery form the dittos were taking. I think you were right, and a mew seems to have joined the colony. The local Rangers were positively ecstatic when I showed them the recording. There hasn't been any major public announcement that I've seen, but I believe they're going to include the fact that it's there as part of the tours. A little local legend to make things more exciting. I know I've already been heading over to the tour areas after work these last couple days.
Oh, that's wonderful! Mew are quite playful and sociable, so as long as they have a place to hang out privately, they'll probably quite enjoy the extra attention!
Do be warned though, Mew are troublemakers - they love to steal trinkets, shapeshift into things to startle people, or make people chase them around. They love to play as well - they're gladly roll balls around or chase feather toys. It'll encourage them to take their true form as well, which will probably encourage tourists.

hey its the darkrai guy. hes doing alright but against pokeballs bc when i asked about him getting one he sort of hit me upside the head gently and hung me on a tree by my shirt. got let down after a bit though. any tips on convincing him about the benefits?
It's good to hear that he's okay, and it's really good to hear from you! I admit, I was a little worried. He doesn't seem to like Pokeballs much...but they do have benefits that I'm happy to share.
Pokeballs don't inherently mean ownership or control. You can have a Pokeball for a Pokemon and never use it.
It's very possible to break out of Pokeballs, even after the initial capture. If you use a weak ball, Darkrai will have no problem leaving it when he needs to, even without consent. If he then destroys the ball, it's gone for good.
If you've captured Darkrai, no one else can. Many Pokemon who fear being hurt or captured will entrust their Pokeball to someone in order to prevent anyone else from doing so.
Similarly, you can pull a Pokemon out of a rough situation in a blink with the press of a button.
Darkrai could go anywhere with you if he had a Pokeball, should he choose to be in it. As in, in public.
Also, Darkrai can sleep or relax safely in said ball, unable to be hurt and it's nice and quiet.
As for you, though...you'd need a license to catch Darkrai. Luckily, that won't be too rough given that you already know him, and presumably quite a bit about him.

My Favorite Pokemon
I got an ask that made me realize I've never mentioned my own favorites and biases, so I figured I'd put out a quick list just for fun, heh.
I don't really have a singular favorite, to be honest. But I certainly do have some favorites.
My favorite type is Psychic, but I don't really have strong opinions about the Types in general except that I'm surprised Ground and Rock have been separate since the introduction of the Type system given how similar they often are, where Fairy took many years to be classed as its own thing rather than a weird derivative. I also tend to like feline Pokemon.
Meowstic was my first Pokemon, and as I admit, I'm biased towards them because of that. I don't have a strong preference between their two forms, though.
Mewtwo is one of my favorite Legendary or Mythical Pokemon, and I really hope to work with one someday. Mew is also very cool, but I don't prefer it to Mewtwo.
I also really like Latios and Latias, but as a first Legendary I'm leaning towards one of the Legendary Beasts - Raikou, Entei, or Suicune. Them, or Koraidon/Miraidon (struggling to pick which I like best). I also quite enjoy the Legendary Birds, but they're horrible first picks even for me.
Shaymin are also adorable. My colleagues and I have been petitioning higher-ups and organizations to let us keep one as a lab Pokemon.
Were I to aim for a really high-powered Legendary aside from Mewtwo, it would probably be Lugia, Ho-Oh, or Dialga.
In non-Legendaries...given how much I like Psychic types, it surprises even me that I don't really have a favorite Eevee evolution, though I do like Leafeon and Glaceon quite a lot.
Meganium is great and I won't be convinced otherwise.

Hello! I'm in the odd position of owning two rather unusual pokemon (not 100% sure what they are, my best guess is some kind of weird form of cylclizar?)
Anyway, one of them is rather aggressive towards the other one, and apparently attacked it quite badly in the past, before I had them. Do you think it's worth it to attempt to reconcile the two, or should I keep them separate? l'm not sure other trainers would be equipped to handle the second one, so rehoming it is not a possibility.
-Trainer Juliana of Paldea
I admit, I'm VERY surprised to have you in my inbox, Trainer Juliana! I've heard a lot about your and Florian's situation, though it seems you might have been avoiding the news yourself, given that you haven't referred to your Pokemon by name - understandably.
There are two of these Cyclizar forms, and if rumor is to be believed, you and Florian each have a pair of the same one. One was drawn from the distant past and is known as Koraidon, and the other is from the distant future and is known as Miraidon. Maybe it's just ducklett-ducklett-go being itself as I'm being stubborn about using Mewgle or any other major search engine right now for privacy (and Jenova) reasons, but I really can't figure out which of you has which.
As for your actual question...personally, I'd keep them apart for a bit but let them see each other from a distance, so they can get used to being on the same team before you try to actively reconcile the two. And be quick on your Pokeball in case one tries to attack the other or panics, these Pokemon aren't nearly as aggressive as other Paradox Pokemon but are still quite dangerous when they're angry.
But, if you don't want to keep the second one, I'm sure there are Trainers who can handle it. Whether to keep the Pokemon or not is a decision that's in your control, more than you seem to think.

Another New "Rule"
((OOC:
Just noticed I never said if it was ok to take on roles of canon characters from the games/anime/movies/mangas or not. The answer is yes! And I'll be adding that to my intro post momentarily. Oops.))
