voice of an angel
Never in Ben's life he has felt more relaxed. Every time he stepped into the vacant music room, he felt as if he stepped into a world only he knew existed. Whenever he was surrounded with music, the sound of rustling song papers and the click of the door closing behind him would give him peace.
He loved singing. It was his one and only passion. He never wanted to be or was arrogant, but he loved the way his own voice flowed over each lyric, not missing a note or a beat. It gave him the urge to just be.
He then started hating his voice. It caused him to earn unwanted attention. Attention was alright, unless it became too much. And it was too much.
The attention began to shift from admiration to mockery. Every time he passed a specific group of boys in the hallway, they would mimic him singing.
That's when Ben's world started to shrink. The boys would shove him, knock the books and papers out of his hand. Never once Ben thought of fighting back.
Until.
As their hands clamped around Ben's throat, his vision flashed black and white. He couldn't breathe. He couldn't call out for help. His voice had...disappeared.
No, not disappeared. Forcefully taken. He wanted to scream, but every time he tried making a sound, the sound of broken chords left his mouth.
He was broken. The angel was destroyed.

the reason to survive
Ashlyn vaguely remembered the question her parents had asked several years before. "Where are all your friends? Where were all the sleepovers and us scolding you for going out at night?"
It had happened. When new people appeared in her life, she'd became friends with them. When her parents accused her of staying up late to call her friends, she kept the true reason behind her tired eyes.
Those friends had become more than what they were. They witnessed deaths and them and the others getting hurt. They witnessed so many things. Too many things.
And that's why Ashlyn tried to cast them out of her life. Originally, she didn't want to be associated with people she never met. She didn't want to know...whoever they were. She didn't want to be around people who didn't truly, wholly understand her reason of silence.
But then things became too hard. She had to rely on the others in order to survive. At first, they were just allies. But now...she might’ve considered them to be close friends.
She wondered what would've happened to them if the six didn't agree to go on that trip all those years ago. Would they know who each other were? Or would they continue on being strangers?
And then, once every hellish time in the phantom dimension was over, she'd wake up. Unlike minutes ago, she'd be alone. She had never realized how tormenting the quiet and being alone could be. And she would continue thinking.
At first, she wanted to survive. All by herself, without anybody's help. But now, they were her reason to survive.

Hii. So, i'm here to ask you something about one of my interactions with you. Yesterday i replied to one of your angst posts (that one entitled "told you i'd cave") with some of those "please delete this you're triggering people" jokes and someone replied to it saying it was rude (they took it as something serious and not a joke but anyway)
And i want to know, did i offended you with that? It wasnt my intention to do it but if yes please warn me so i wont joke like that with you anymore. Also, i really liked your writing, my comment wasn't meant to be serious <3
You wrote angst, and i felt the angst 🫡
— Bin.
lol no you didn't offend me i got the joke
and thank you :D

trial run
In the Hernandez family's case, Tyler was the trial run.
When he and Taylor were younger, he'd always be the first to do things. He'd willingly sign up for things just to make Taylor comfortable, just so that she wouldn't feel alone. They were always together. They did Next Level sports together, summer camps together, and even school-related activities together.
For a while, it was bliss.
But then Tyler had grown bored of it. Nothing appealed to him anymore; not even baseball. Everything he did was to support his mom and his sister. He had to play baseball so he'd get a scholarship and his mother wouldn't have to pay. They were financially tight. He had to stay protective of Taylor, even when he wanted to be protected himself.
Every time he swung his bat, he'd listen to the familiar crack as the ball hit it, the familiar whoosh as it soared through the sky. He'd run to first base, then second, then third, then finally back to home base.
He wanted to run away but he knew he couldn't do that; he had to support his mother and sister, since their dad wasn't around.
So he continued living as the trial run.
When he and Taylor decided to go on the trip to Savanah, he slipped. Something happened. The world started changing every night, every midnight. Dark creatures roamed around. He and Taylor weren't safe anymore; none of the six were.
Deep down, he knew nothing changed. He'd always be the first. That's all he ever got, anyway.
So maybe that's why he was the first to die. Because he was the trial run.

told you i'd cave
There are so many versions of Aiden Clark, and yet he himself doesn't know who his is.
Some days he wakes up, energetic despite the tough night he always had, along with the rest of the group. Other times he wants to stay in bed, curled into a fetus position, and never wake up again.
Many times he died. Not just when the roof crumbled onto his head. Not even when he witnessed Ashlyn getting hurt and Tyler dying. Of course, he cared about them, but what about himself? Did anyone care?
And so, everytime the six of them--Ashlyn, Taylor, Tyler, Ben, Logan, and him--met up, he wondered. Did anyone care about him? Was he a burden?
Everytime he looked into the bathroom mirror he saw his ten year old self, with dark hair and darker shades of purple underneath his eyes. He was a scared little kid again. And he hated that.
And whenever the six transported into the dimension, every time they had to run away, drive away, or fight one of the phantoms, he'd wonder if they'd leave him.
In the beginning, he thought Tyler and Ashlyn hated him. Do they still do?
They say death is inevitable. Aiden knew that one day he'd die. He won't even surprised if it happened tomorrow or in two years. But is death inevitable in his head?

i just remembered that hazel levesque was like 13 or 14 in the heroes of olympus
now imagine being 13 or 14 on a ship with a bunch of 16 and 17, and almost 18, years olds
and they're the only ones you talk to for weeks, even months
that's gotta be terrifying
