Style Steal. SASS & BIDE 'The Headliner' Jean

With sales offerings galore since Boxing Day, it is hard to decide what you really want, versus what you are buying because it's on sale. Take a quick look at your shoe collection and you’ll likely find a sea of black, brown, and neutral heels. It’s easy to play it safe when it comes to footwear, but this summer, it's time to refresh our wardrobes with a pair of striking white kicks.

I first played with white shoes when I was styling Ruby Rose for COVET Magazine, and for readers of my blog - I posted Alexander Wang’s white sensations when Rhianna was parading them on the streets of Los Angeles back in May. View here

Lest you think that white shoes aren’t a very versatile option, let me give you my tips for this hot white trend.

Clean and modern, think of white as your new Spring/Summer neutral. Great to offset the brights of the season.

Err on the side of quality (aka expensive), as white can look cheap when it comes to shoes.

Bridesmaid Love. Sarah & Chris' Wedding

I love weddings and whilst my own has been and gone, it's nice that in my profession, you sometimes get to relieve the experience (vicariously anyway). My close friend and bride to be Sarah Wilson asked me to help style her four bridesmaids for her wedding at Stones in the Yarra Valley.

Her brief was simple, something that would tie in with her overall wedding theme, fashionable but also compliment her wedding gown, designed by Jason Grech. Often brides make the mistake of understating their bridesmaids.

Tip: Guests remember the entire bridal party - when the bridesmaids look good, the bride tends to shine.

With three of Sarah's bridesmaids residing interstate and overseas, the challenge was making sure I could find something that wouldn't require alot of alterations but also highlight their own personal style - because when you look good, you feel good.

After narrowing the choices to three styles, the clear winner was these Zimmermann silk ruched bodice maxi dresses. We kept the accessories simple, with my favourite summer staple, Tony Bianco's 'Krystle'' Gold heels completing the look.

Sarah and Chris's wedding was absolutely beautiful and I was certainly was one of the happiest people in the chapel that day - they are completely in love and have a bright future ahead. Thanks for allowing me to share the day with you!

Styling Issue 13 COVET Magazine featuring Ruby Rose

AW13 Myer International Designer Collections Preview

I was lucky enough to preview the new International Autumn/Winter 2013 Collections at Myer recently and whilst we may not all, myself included, be able to get our hands on every delicious item, it didn't make the experience any less exciting.

Like a kid in a candy store, I pulled from the racks the best of the new season, Balmain, Givenchy, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's The Row, Isabel Marant, Roland Mouret, McQ Alexander McQueen's embellished knits, to name a few. And, I was pleased to preview the latest additions to the Myer family, Kenzo, Alberta Ferretti, Peter Pilotto and Jil Sander Navy.

With fabulous fashion, comes sensational accessories and there was no shortage of those either. With the Balmain belts encased in the glass cabinet, I took the time to play dress ups with scarves by Moschino and Emilo Pucci and jewels by Sonia by Sonia Rykiel.

My favourites from the preview; Givenchy leather dress, Balmain Jacket, The Row leather vest and the Vanessa Bruno Jacket/Vest/ Dress - I am positive I could justify the cost per wear!

And as if it wasn't fun enough, it has to be said, the staff at Myer take customer service to an entire new level, showcasing the designs, talking through the detail, answering questions and offering me a return visit, even if it's just to browse! It's the type of service that reminds you that an in-store experience, can be just as exhilirating as the purchase we all frequently make nowdays át the click of a button online.

Emirates Stakes Day. Johnnie Walker Marquee

  The last day of the Spring Racing Carnival is by far the most enjoyable, known as ‘family day’, Emirates Stakes Day is the more relaxed of the big four at Flemington.

Relaxed, by no means implies it is any less spectacular. As I found out, when I was invited to the Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve marquee in the Birdcage. Opulent and luxurious, with a total of 6 cocktail and beverage stations throughout the marquee, myself and my guests were joined by Patissier Adriano Zumbo and World Class Bartender Tim Philips. The music in the marquee was in full swing thanks to Easy Tiger’s Claire and Johnnie Walker host Brodie Young, dressed in top hat and suit, was on hand to present the day’s festivities.

I wore Sass & Bide's Ravine dress, Viktoria Novak millinery, Stella Nemiro cocktail ring and Peeptoe Clutch with Christian Louboutin shoes. Client and presenter Lorinska Anderson looked smashing in millinery by Viktoria Novak, Mossman top, By Johnny Skirt, Kookai Heels and Peeptoe clutch. Tara O’keefe my wingman for the entire Spring Racing Carnival, decided after four days comfort was key and looking pretty was king. And look beautiful she did sporting an AW13 Lucette Dress, Peeptoe fascinator, shoes and clutch and YSL ring.

With macaroons so delish they melted in your mouth, coupled with Johnnie Walker alcoholic delights, it was the perfect way to celebrate the end of four fashionable and fun filled days of Spring Racing. Big thank you to Casey and Katie at One Green Bean PR for such an amazing day.

My Style. Myer at Oaks Day in Aqua

For ladies day at Flemington, the Myer Marquee was themed as ‘The Florist’ and host to a great mix of Myer Ambassadors, Myer Designers and celebrities. I was lucky enough to attend and whilst there I ran into some of my favorite people, both old friends and new, we all had one thing in common - a love of fashion.

Myer was definitely the place to be this Spring Racing Carnival, it's all in the finer details. With Oaks Day being about true signature style, I decided to get my "neon on" in this orange Aqua by Aqua backless dress - I love a great online purchase. I paired it with some veiling from Lincraft for something different, Tony Bianco heels and Colette clutch.

Accompanied by my partners in crime, Lynette & Tara and with the help of delicious cocktails it was time to hit the dancefloor. It was AMAZE with a live acoustic singer setting the room into a disco spin - litterally.

After 6pm, a quick change of outfit for Lynette who slipped on a mauve Talulah dress, with a pair of earrings from Mouche and it was off to the Laurent Perrier Winners Circle Party at THE DECK, Circa.

Styling Oaks Day. Talulah, Nicholas & Columbus Circle

Traditionally known as ‘Ladies Day’ amongst racegoers, Crown Oaks Day is the biggest style event of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Whilst famously known as the day women take the opportunity to express their ‘signature style.

It was also my time to ensure three fabulous women, model Sophie Van Den Akker and Sydney Swans leading ladies, Tara O’keefe and TV Presenter Lynette Bolton put their best heels forward.

Sophie wears Talulah AW13 floral dress, millinery by Morgan & Taylor at Myer and clutch by Peeptoe. Sophie wears her own shoes.

I attended the VRC Crown Oaks Day Luncheon at Crown’s Palladium Room as the guest of Jess Dempsey, fellow lover of all things fashion, and creative force behind blog What Would Karl Do.

  Proving that there is enough room in the fashion world for everyone, we had a fabulous time checking out the A-list crowd and their fashionable threads.

The prestigious lunch is always a highlight on the Melbourne Cup Carnival calendar and saw over 1500 fashionable guests attend in their finest racewear ahead of Crown Oaks Day. Pressure was on to pull off a wow look and I am dying for anything by Nicholas at the moment so decided I’d get my hands on the Botanical Haze Split Dress. I accessorised the dress with this fuchsia and black headpiece by milliner to the stars Viktoria Novak, clutch by Peeptoe and shoes by Zara.

Channel Seven’s Mark Beretta together with Kerri-Anne Kennerley hosted the spectacular event for guests including some of my fashionable favourites, Emirates and VRC guest Mischa Barton, dressed in Nicola Finetti, VRC International Style Ambassador Philip Treacy OBE, racing royalty Kate Waterhouse in Ellery.

Australian songstress Delta Goodrem delighted the audience with a passionate performance of old and new hits and they in turn showed their appreciation by joining Kerri-Anne in singing happy birthday to the superstar birthday girl! Delta, still recovering from burns to her legs, adjourned a dress by Escada.

Big thank you to Jess Dempsey and the VRC for having me, I had an absolute ball and to top it off, I walked away with our table centre piece, an age old tradition prize at the luncheon.

Styling Emirates Melbourne Cup Day.

Trackside brights was my take on Melbourne Cup Day, leaving the Derby Day's chic black and white behind (well...almost).

My clients and good friends Lynette & Tara invited myself and my husband Liam to Lavazza's lavish and fun marquee on Melbourne Cup Day. I thought it appropriate to get in neon theme. I test drove my latest purchase; a neon backless dress by Aqua and accessorised with heels by Tony Bianco, Morgan & Taylor fascinator @ Myer, Collette clutch and Stella Nemiro jewellery

Lynette was presenting for Channel 7 from the Lavazza marquee, so I wanted to ensure she made a bold statement. I didn’t need to look much further than a fabulous headpiece by Viktoria Novak, such an exquisite piece, that I built her entire look around it. So I put Lynette in a  black and white sketch striped top by johnny, Wayne Cooper pencil skirt, Forever New neon clutch, ring by Stella Nemiro and heels by Christian Louboutin.

Tara's small frame lends itself to most looks. So when I first laid eyes on an orange Diane Von Furstenberg dress from the AW13 collection, I knew the colour would look amaze on her. I accessorised with my favourite Viktoria Novak millinery, Sass & Bide belt, Tony Bianco gold snake heels and Peeptoe clutch and earrings.

Highlights of my day: Having fun with my husband Liam and the girls, spending time in the Lexus marquee with the beautiful Rose Byrne, running into my soon to be wed girlfriend Mietta and her fiancee Brent and meeting lovely couple Ashley and Robert. Too much fun!

My Style. Derby Day in Camilla & Marc

Even though I dress people for a living and provide style advice, like every girl, I find myself seeking the nod of approval when it comes to my own fashionable choices. This year’s Derby Day was no exception.

I was a guest of Tabcorp and Muum Champagne on Derby Day, so I chose this white Camilla & Marc dress from their latest 2012/13 Resort collection. A  little on the risky side for a race day I will admit,  but as most of you know, I’ll always go with the more directional piece over the safe option. I love Camilla & Marc and this latest collection has me lusting for balmy nights and summer parties.

Accessorised with a leather fascinator by amazing Sydney milliner Viktoria Novak, jewellery by Stella Nemiro, clutch by Collette and leopard ‘Gilda’ pumps by Lauren Marinis. Lauren Marinis is one to watch, she is going to be a big player in the world of fabulous fashion footwear.

Styling Derby Day in By Johnny & Tallulah

Brief: Traditional Black and White.

Sydney Swan girls Tara O’keefe and Lynette Bolton entertained me for what was a fun filled Derby Day (and Spring Carnival) in the Birdcage at Flemington. Staying traditional in black and white, I wanted to ensure that the best friends each had a distinct but different look, that ultimately suited their personalities.
