Submissions are finally here! I need some time to put together pairings and set up a discord before the actual day we start, so the sooner you send your submission, the easier it will be on me- thank you!

For anyone who does not remember or does not know, I'll re-define what a Big Bang is under the cut!

A Big Bang is a fandom-wide collaboration. Authors, artists, and betas come together to create heaps of new content over the course of a couple months.

Authors will first work on their fanfic. Any genre, any crossover, any au, any book. Be it ship content or gen fics- all creativity is welcome! The only requirement is that it be Infinity Train related.

Authors will be expected to write a 5k fic by the deadline. Artists will be assigned a fic after the first author check-in, in which they will be given a general summary and scene descriptions from their assigned fic.

Any art medium is accepted! Whether you use traditional, digital, musical, craft, or cosplay. If you have any questions about your preferred medium and potential participation, please message me for more details.

We know that Lake hasn't been out of the mirror world for long, and as I've explained in older posts, their anatomy is different than a regular reflection or a flec.

"Wow, do you have special metal strength?"

"No, I just don't feel pain like you, with your squishy flesh."

So they make this statement early on, which, if you pay attention, just isn't true.

Lake easily picks Jesse up in the next episode. As well as picking up Mace, which is an accomplishment when you consider how much of the flecs is actually metal.

They also punch through a metal pod and crush a porter with their bare hands. All evidence points to the fact that Lake does have super metal strength.

So why bother claiming that they don't?

For the same reason that Lake walks straight into the water during The Map Car.

They don't realize that swimming and floating are things they can no longer do now that they aren't reflecting someone else.

Lake's only reference is the few weeks they've been out of the mirror world, as well as their time as a reflection. That's not a lot when the rules of the world shift around you.

They know they don't feel pain the same way, but they likely hadn't been in a situation yet/hadn't noticed that they do have super strength.

"How does that work?"

"I dunno, it's like- ugh. I-I dunno!"

Once we get to the Lucky Cat Car, Lake is comfortable enough with Jesse to admit that they don't understand how they work. They don't have all the answers, and it's just as confusing to them as it is to him.

infinity train is such a funny show to use to talk about censorship. because on the one hand this teenager kills 2 cops fairly graphically (they are made of metal but they kind of goop all over the place) and is shown to be 100% in the right, but on the other hand when their transgender allegory story ends, they stay cis and use she/her pronouns without any commentary. ohhhhhkay.

Finally going to share: the Swamp AU! Where instead of the train, people go to Florida to solve their problems.

In this story, Jesse goes to summer camp in Florida when his friend, MT, suddenly dissappears. In an effort to find them, Jesse teams up with Ryan, an ex-rockstar-turned-ecosystem-protector-and-public-nuisance, find MT along with some other friends along the way to find out why they really vanished! This is loosely based off the book I read as a teen called "Skink No Surrender" by Carl Hiaason.

Some extra explanation of the characters in the drawings below the cut; shout out to @nymphacae for helping me flesh this out and letting me put her oc and our joint oc in this au!

Jesse goes to summer camp in Florida after an accident with his brother Nate leaves them estranged. He meets MT there and they form a special bond, leaving him motivated to keep his loyalty and find them despite his fears of why they might have left.

Ryan did what any person does after a band breakup: moved to Florida and help the local ecosystem while having fun. He meets Jesse while hiding in the sand to make sure no one messed with the sea turtle eggs on the beach, jumpscaring both of them.

MT (Lake) had a prickly exterior at first, but quickly grew close with Jesse at camp after hanging out with a deer they found on a hike. Days before they disappeared, they were acting cagey and secretive even towards their friend.

Amelia is Ryan's roommate in the swamp that she took under her wing in his post breakup crisis. She's stayed in the wild since losing her fiancee, and while she complains of people, she secretly enjoys having someone to share solitude with.

Min-Gi never expected to find a new family when getting a Facebook message from his daughter wanting to meet him. He's been in Florida for 5 years, willing to work at a dead end diner job to support the daughter and qpp that make him happy.

Michelle (tall lady with hat, courtesy of nym) didn't realize having a child via sperm donor lead her daughter to finding her father, much less him coming to stay. While not romantically involved, she and Min-Gi make a good team in raising their child and gossiping about work drama.

Saemi (short girl in tutu) has an insatiable curiosity, dark imagination, and sharp wit that Min and Michelle sometimes struggle to keep up with. She always wants in on a good mystery and constantly looks for ways to get an edgy backstory, which is difficult when her parents always dote on her.
