Blame It On The Mistletoe
________________________________________
Note: Omg I've been gone forever I'm sorry. I felt like writing again to try and help my mood lately, hope you all enjoy this Christmas story
_________________________________________
It was the first Christmas break you were driving home without company, the first Christmas you were waiting alone for the three boys who had been a part of your life as long as you could remember. You pulled into the house you had grown up in and saw a familiar car in the driveway, you were hoping that was a good sign. You hopped out of your car and briskly walked to your front door trying to contain your excitement. You knocked with a smile on your face, with your luggage in hand. The door opened with a squeal from your Mom, she quickly pulled you in.
“Hey Mom,” you squeaked out in her grip.
“I’ve missed you so much Y/N,” she said kissing your cheek. You wiggled out of her grasp and made your way into your home looking around for the faces you had been waiting to see, but none.
“Hey Dad,” you smiled as he took your luggage.
“Good to have you back sweetie,” he said. You continued to walk through your house to see more faces.
“Y/N, you’re back,” you heard. You turned around to see the face of the woman who had become your second Mom.
“Hey, when are the boys coming?” you hugged Ellen.
“I have to pick them up tonight,” you turned to see Jim standing behind you, “figured you would want to come, I waited for you,” he said. This had been a tradition for as long as you could remember. Your family and the Hughes family had been glued together since you were little, you grew up with Quinn, Jack, and Luke, they had become almost like your brothers. Once everyone started going separate ways your families prioritized spending holidays together no matter how difficult it would be.
“Of course I want to go,” you exclaimed.
“How was the trip, sorry Luke couldn’t keep you company this year,” he said.
“Boring but I made it didn’t I,” you laughed. You had wished Luke had been there, he was good car company and had gotten nicer to look at over the years. You went to every single game in college sporting number 43 on your back, once he was gone you felt lost at school, he was your best friend, your college life, he made you who you were.
“Well are you ready then,” he smiled.
“Yes,” you said running to get your shoes back on. You made your way to the car you had so many road trips in, traveled to so many games in, and made so many memories in. You hopped in the front seat eager to get to the airport. You felt as if you were going to explode if you weren’t there any sooner.
Finally, you arrived and saw the three boys waiting. You leaped out of the car before it even came to a stop.
“Guys!” You exclaimed running towards the boys. The three of them pulled you into their embrace. You felt warm, and comforted, you felt at home. They released you from your grip you hugged each of them individually.
“Oh my god you’re freezing Quinn,” you said hugging him individually.
“Y/N, you are always cold you can’t talk,” he laughed. You moved to the next brother.
“You miss me Y/N?” Jack asked.
“No not really,” you teased. He shoved you laughing before you went to hug him.
“I know you did,” he smiled.
“I think she missed me more,” Luke chimed in. You let go of Jack and faced Luke. You stood kind of frozen, you hadn’t realized how much you missed him until you were with him. You missed movie nights in your dorm, you missed your daily meals, you missed studying together, but most of all you missed having him by your side.
“Hi Y/N,” he smiled. You unfroze and squeeze him tight. You slowly felt your feet leave the ground as he hugged you.
“I really missed you, Luke,” you said softly,
“I really missed you too,” he replied. He let go of you as the two of you remained looking at each other, you felt your face heating at the sight of his grin. You two snapped out of your moment and loaded the trunk.
“Shotgun!” Jack yelled hopping in the front.
“I’ll take the middle guys,” you said sliding across the backseat. The car ride was full of conversation between the men, you sat quietly observing, and you couldn’t help glancing at Luke every so often, he was already looking at you.
The three of you piled out of the backseat as you arrived at your home. The moms were waiting outside patiently, and after greeting you all rushed inside. You all had the same plan of getting unpacked before settling in. Once that was down you found yourselves at the famous dining room table, where you had shared so many meals with this family. You all took your usual seats, the Moms at one end, the Dads at the other, and the kids in the middle, you and Luke being the babies on one side, and Quinn and Jack across from you.
“I hope the basement decorations aren’t too much for you boys, we had a party last weekend, and still haven’t gotten to taking them down,” your mom smiled.
“They look lovely,” Quinn said. Jack elbowed him after using the word lovely.
“Decorations Mom?” you said.
“I had the time now that you’re at school,” she smiled. The group of you continued talking throughout the meal.
“Everyone’s all grown up,” your Dad chimed in, “Nice-looking boys Jim,”
“Aww stop it, making me blush,” Jack grinned.
“Little Luke is big Luke now, taller than all of you,” your mom smiled.
“Yeah, Jack,” he said flexing. You rolled your eyes and continued eating trying to hide the blush on your face.
“Hey little Y/N is a beautiful woman now,” Ellen chimed in. You looked up from your plate,
“Well thank you,” you smiled.
“She is isn’t she,” Quinn smiled.
“All grown up,” Jack said getting fake emotional. You rolled your eyes and then looked at Luke.
“She is.” He smiled and then looked back down at his plate. You tried to hide your blush as best you could. After that, the meal had ended.
“Honey you should go see the decorations now,” your mom smiled.
“I’ll look, I didn’t look other than ducking to avoid hitting things,” Luke laughed.
“Can you set up my spot Y/N,” Jack called from being sprawled on the couch in your living room.
“Mine too,” Quinn said lying next to him.
“Anything else your hignesses,” you rolled your eyes. They didn’t answer figuring no. The two of you went downstairs and looked around at what your Mom had done.
“It’s nice she found something to do while you’re gone,” Luke said.
“I wish I could say that about you,” you smiled as you walked toward the closet with the air mattress.
“What do you mean? You can still go to games and stuff,” he said.
“Who will I watch my movies with, movies have been lonely,” you said.
“I know I wish I could be there, but I can’t,” he frowned. You two grabbed the sheets and comforters setting up where the boys would be staying. The two of you stood there looking at your work and continuing to socialize, it felt like college again, it felt like your feelings were Luke were becoming stronger.
“Hey Y/N,” he said quietly. You turned around to face him, you two were almost chest to chest. You looked up at him.
“Yeah Luke?” you asked.
“Look, we are under the mistletoe,” he blushed. You looked up and there it was, you were surprised you weren’t caught under it earlier, it was your Mom’s favorite thing to put up every year.
“Guess we are,” you said blushing as well. You two stood there awkwardly waiting for someone to do something.
“So, Y/N there’s something I’ve been wanting to get off my chest,” he said. You could tell he was nervous. You rubbed his arm assuring he had no reason to worry.
“Go ahead Luke,” you smiled.
“You know those movie nights, and study sessions, and wearing my jersey?” he said.
“Yes, Luke,”
“Wow this is hard, I just, I don’t know how to say it,” he was nervous. You placed your hands on his shoulders rubbing them.
“Relax,” you said getting on your tiptoes before placing a kiss on his lips.
“You knew?”
“I could figure it out,” you smiled. His hands made their way to your back after tucking strands of hair out of your face. Your lips met once more. His hands moved from your back to your thighs. You jumped into his arms and wrapped your legs around him.
“Woah,” he smiled. Your hands met his curls as you two stared at each other smiling.
“Woah what,” you smirked.
“You’re good at that,” he put you down. You two found your way onto the couch Luke would be staying on. He pulled you to his shoulder, as you rubbed his chest.
“Luke, how are we gonna tell them,” you said.
“You think they didn’t see this coming,” he chuckled.
“Shut up,” you said playfully shoving him. He shoved back then pulled your face to his again. You locked your lips with him, slowly wrapping your arms around his neck as he ran his fingers through your hair. You were too busy at the moment you hadn’t even heard footsteps down the stairs.
“Ahem,” Jack cleared his throat, the two of you shot apart and turned to face both Quinn and Jack with his hands on his hips.
“Come on you knew this was coming,” Quinn said rolling his eyes, “Jack made me come down,” he laughed.
“Well,” Jack said.
“Oh come on Jack,” Luke said, “does it make you uncomfortable,” he said pulling you close to him again, pressing small kisses on the top of your head to truly annoy his brother.
“Okay stop,” Quinn said.
“I didn’t expect it tonight okay,” Jack said, “How did it happen,” he was still annoyed.
“Blame the mistletoe,” You smiled.

Thoughts and Actions
Summer in Michigan Series
Y/N’s POV:
You lay awake in bed listening to the argument down the hall, you couldn’t believe this was happening. You didn’t know who you wanted to be with or if you wanted to be with anyone. Everything that happened on this trip so far was so unexpected, and now this argument over a kiss you hadn’t even asked for. You didn’t mind the kiss, but the aftermath of it was not what you wanted. You continued to dwell in your thoughts when you were interrupted by a knock on your door. You lay motionless looking out your window at the view when you heard the door open.
“Can’t sleep,” you heard your brother’s voice. You immediately turned over to face him smiling.
“How’d you know?” You asked.
“Twin thing,” he said approaching the bed. You moved over leaving a spot for him to join you. The two of you lay in bed looking at the ceiling listening to the yelling.
“Look, sis, I didn’t expect this to happen, how are you feeling about all this?” He turned to look at you.
“I don’t want to ruin their friendship,” you sighed, “I knew I shouldn’t have come,” you said.
“Y/N you won’t trust me they are better than that, I know it,” he smiled. The two of you heard the argument die down and continued to process the night.
“Yeah, but I don’t know what to do, they have both been amazing,” you said.
“Yeah, they are great. Take your time, even though I know you like Jack,” he said.
“Cole!” You said shocked that he would remember your childhood crush.
“I’m telling the truth, I knew that’s why you would interrupt when we were kids, I saw you two talk as we got older, I know you Y/N,” you turned to face him. He continued to ramble on and on about all the signs pointing to your feelings towards Jack.
“Cole Caufield, enough.” You both smiled.
“Okay Okay,” he said sitting up and getting ready to leave.
“Wait, please stay, just tonight or I’m going to be up thinking,” you said. He turned around and lay back down next to you.
“You were gonna think about Jack weren’t you,” he giggled.
“No idiot… okay maybe,” you laughed.
“Go to sleep sis,” he smiled.
“Good night,” you rolled your eyes and turned over.
“Love you, sis,” he whispered. You smiled dozing off.
You woke up the next morning with no sign of anyone anywhere. No Cole, you looked down the hall all the doors were open. You looked out the window above the stairs to see all the cars in the driveway except one. You rubbed your eyes and went downstairs.
“Hello?” you called out.
“In here Y/N,” it was Jack’s voice. You followed the sound and made your way into the kitchen area. You expected to see more faces but only one.
“Where’s everyone?” you asked.
“Getting breakfast, don’t worry Cole knows what you want,” he smiled. The smile made you forget about everything you had heard the night before.
“They couldn’t have just sent one person,” you said sitting down beside him.
“I guess not, I mean everyone was gone when I woke up so, I guess we missed out.” You and Jack alone were what you needed after everything that happened last night. It felt like you were a little kid again, all the feelings were back.
“I guess so, how have you been it’s been a while?” you asked.
“I can’t complain, the NHL is treating me well,” he smirked, “How about you?” You don’t know why, but you told Jack everything that you told Alex, everything that happened with the drinks and party and the black eye, you didn’t want to lie to him and say everything was great in your life when it wasn’t. He looked concerned and comforted you and it felt amazing. The two of you moved to the living room as you continued to explain your situation, feeling the river of tears build up in the dam of your closed eyes. Finally, the dam broke and everything came out, you were embarrassed crying in front of Jack, but he didn’t seem to mind.
“I’m sorry Y/N,” he said wrapping his arms around you and pulling you to his chest. It felt warm and allowed you to calm down.
“Everything’s gonna be okay,” he spoke softly. The tears kept flowing not seeing an end, you felt your phone buzz in your pocket but ignored it, nothing could take you away from this moment because it was the first time you felt accepted by someone with your emotions.
Cole’s POV:
I woke up to see Y/N still fast asleep, I didn’t bother to wake her up to get breakfast with us this was the first time I had seen her so relaxed on the trip and after last night I knew she needed the rest.
I went downstairs being one of the last few up and headed out with the group. I sent my sister a few texts just so she didn’t panic when she woke up. As time passed waiting for the orders of food, she became the topic of conversation, specifically with Trevor.
“Did Y/N hear everything last night?” Trevor asked me. I couldn’t lie to him and I knew that Y/N probably didn’t want them to know, but I had to tell him.
“Yes, but she’s okay don’t worry,” I smiled trying to change the subject, but he stubbornly stayed on it.
“Did she say anything about us like me and Jack?” he asked. He was very persistent when it came to Y/N.
“Yes Trevor, but that’s all I’m telling you okay,” I said. I realized she was alone with Jack at the house and so did Trevor quickly.
“What do you think they are doing at the house?” he asked me another question.
“Geez Z relax, I don’t know,” I said. He stopped with the questions as I pulled out my phone. Y/N still hadn’t seen any of my texts, I didn’t think to worry but I sent her a check in anyway. Still, no answer, something in me told me they were fine, but Y/N wasn’t. I figured I’d talk to her about it when we got back.
Jack’s POV:
Here she was, Y/N suffering and all I could do was be her shoulder to cry on. I rubbed the back of her head as she cried into my chest resting my head on hers and assuring her that she was okay. She eventually picked her head up and I saw her beautiful face again. I gently wiped her tears away with my thumb. She smiled looking at me, I missed the way she would look at me, I knew this look too well. My heart was pounding in my chest, I wanted to break eye contact but I couldn’t I really wanted to kiss her.
“Jack, can I do something crazy?” she said to me. I thought about what she was asking I sat there frozen. Before getting an answer I felt her lips on mine, it was a feeling I had been waiting a long time for. It may have been just one little kiss, but I wanted more. After she pulled away I still sat there frozen.
“What? Oh my god no I messed up I’m sorry Jack,” she began to apologize but I cut her off with another kiss. I felt her tension and worry release as she wrapped her arms around my neck and her fingers moved up to my hair. It felt like time stopped, this is what I had wanted since I first felt this way about Y/N. I heard the sound of the door unlocking and quickly pushed her off of me.
“What the hell…hello guys,” she said looking at the door. I cleared my throat and messed with my hair trying to hint she should fix hers. She did so quickly and mouthed a thanks to me.
The two of us joined everyone in the kitchen sitting next to each other both trying to stop grinning.

What's The Big Deal?
Summer in Michigan Series
Warnings: None Note: Parts are going to be uploaded quicker since it's my last week before starting college
Trevor’s POV:
Y/N Caufield. Ever since I saw her after a few years she was all I would think about this summer. I fell asleep on her the first night, not on purpose, but I didn’t want to move. I woke up in the middle of the night and realized where I was and felt at peace, I didn’t have to worry about the house, my career, or anything, just the people I was with, but that peace wouldn’t last long. The first day at the house I watched her with Alex, my best friend, and saw how happy and carefree she was, I just wished it was me out there chasing her.
“Trevor, Trev,” Cole snapped me out of my staring.
“Sorry, what?”
“Spencer and Cam just got here come on,” he said. As I moved towards the door, I couldn’t help but look back, her hair blowing in the wind, the smile stretching across her face she was beautiful. I greeted my old friends burying everything I was feeling about Y/N. I kept it hidden until Y/N and Alex became our topic of discussion.
“Y/N Caufield and Alex, Cole how are you feeling about all this?” Cam asked him.
“They are best friends, they’ve always been like this, I trust Alex,” he answered.
“Don’t look now but he’s holding her,” Spencer said looking out the window.
“What?!” Jack, Cole, and I all shouted in unison. I knew why Cole was yelling, I knew why I was, but why was Jack? I looked outside watching him carry her, it made my stomach turn inside out. The two of them walked inside leaving all of you staring at them.
“Oh my god chill, she’s my best friend,” Alex said to you guys.
“Yeah okay,” Cam commented. Y/N approached the open area next to me on the couch while Alex made his way to the stairs.
“Where’s he going?” Spencer asked her.
“He had a little accident,” she laughed. Her laugh could make anyone feel better, it made me quickly get rid of my anger towards her and Alex. Y/N sat down next to me on the couch between Cole and me. I glanced over at her seeing her smile, Cole was introducing her.
“Y/N, do you remember Cam and Spencer?”
“You guys look familiar, and I definitely remember Cole talking about you guys,” she smiled. I watched her continue to get to know Spencer and Cam trying not to think of them as a threat of anything.
“Oh my gosh wait that’s where I recognize you, the gold medal,” I only paid attention to bits and pieces of the conversation, I was too busy trying to figure out what to do about her and Alex. Once he came back downstairs it became one big social party, we played games, talked more, ate, and then ended the night with some Chel. It was getting late, and I was hoping she’d fall asleep again, but that thought was completely bashed when she announced she was leaving.
“I’m going to bed guys, See you all tomorrow,” she yawned.
“Good night,”
“See ya Y/N,”
“Good night sis,”
“Sleep well,” Alex smiled.
“Good night,” Jack said monotonely. Now was my chance, she was almost at the stairs.
“I’ll walk you up,” I said with no hesitation. Why did I say that? I really didn’t know. The boys looked confused as I stood up. I smiled approaching Y/N  before we made our way upstairs. She turned toward the bathroom, and I followed close behind her.
“You didn’t have to do that,” she said, fixing her hair while we stood at the double sink.
“Yeah, but I wanted to,” I said, feeling my heart begin to race in my chest.
“Well, thanks,” she said smiling. She began to blush, she was adorable, she cleared her throat and looked away flustered as if she was embarrassed.
“Good night Y/N,” I said after kissing her red cheek. I headed downstairs smiling and still feeling your heart practically beating out of my chest. I went back to my seat on the couch feeling giddy.
“What’s got you all smiley?” Cam asked me.
“Nothing,” I said quickly.
“Doesn’t look like nothing,” Alex said.
“What’d you do with my sister?” Cole said sternly. I looked down at my lap sighing then looked at my friends surrounding me, I’m sure they wouldn’t think anything of it. It was just an innocent little kiss on the cheek, nothing more.
“I kissed her good night,” I said hesitantly.
“Trev and little C alright,” Spencer laughed.
“Shut up Spencer.” Alex barked at him.
“She’s just your friend remember dumbass, or did you lie?” Spencer barked back.
“Guys chill, it was on the cheek, I’m a gentleman remember,” I smiled trying to lighten the mood.
“Remember she’s my sister,” Cole said to me as if it was a warning of something.
“Was it like kissing Cole,” Cam teased.
“Shut up,” I laughed.
“Ew gross,” Alex said. We continued to laugh until it was interrupted.
“Can we change the topic?” Jack asked. The laughter stopped, leaving an awkward silence.
“Forget it, I’m just gonna go to bed you guys have fun,” he continued.
“Jack wait,” I said.
“If you want to talk we are talking privately,” he glared at you. The two of us left the group as they began to talk again. I followed Jack up to a room starting to think it was a mistake.
“What’s the big deal?” I asked.
Jack’s POV:
“What’s the big deal?” my best friend asked me.
“The big deal?” I shouted slamming the door, “You kissed Y/N!”
“So? Why does that affect you?” Trevor said back to me.
“I don’t know, because I like her maybe, and I have for a while now, every time Cole mentions her I can’t help but smile, I thought I told you this,” I continued yelling. I felt bad yelling at him but I couldn’t help it. I liked Y/N since we were kids, Cole and I would never let her join us because girls had cooties or whatever, but as I matured I made more of an effort to try and talk to her. When juniors happened and she went to college we went separate ways and it felt like a piece of me was missing. I tried to move on to other girls, but none of them were Y/N.
“Well, I think I like her too Jack and well you didn’t tell me so I didn’t think anything,” Trevor yelled back at me, “Have you even done anything with her,” he didn’t let me talk. “That’s what I thought.”
“Can you just shut up for a second and let me talk,” I shouted. He stood there with his arms crossed tapping his foot waiting for me to say something, but I didn’t know if I wanted to tell him anymore. I took a deep breath and began to explain what happened the first night.
“She fell asleep on me Trevor. We were on the couch you and Cole were dozing off, I was the only one left awake. I was about to go upstairs when I felt her head on my shoulder, I couldn’t wake her up, I couldn’t move. I rested my head on hers and fell asleep, even if it didn’t mean anything to her it meant something to me.” Trevor looked stunned by my story, I didn’t know if her falling asleep meant anything to her, if it didn’t it meant Y/N truly was up for grabs and my little crush on her as a kid had to be paused.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know, I knew something was off with you today, I just couldn’t figure it out, it’s the same reason I was upset,” Trevor sat down on the bed, I joined him.
“I’m sorry too, for this whole argument, It wasn’t right for me to make a scene like that,” I apologized. We were gentlemen and hugged it out, then continued to unwind while getting ready for bed.
“Hey Z,”
“Yeah, Jack?”
“Promise whatever happens with Y/N, we won’t let it get between us?” I said lying on one of the beds in the room.
“Deal,” Trevor smiled. I went to bed thinking about how interesting this summer would be, and wondering if anything would happen with Y/N.

Old Times and New Guys
Summer in Michigan Series
Warning: mentions of the incident in previous parts
Note: The drama begins Hehe, also the parts are going to start getting longer
____________________________________________
“Y/N!” Your best friend from college exclaimed.
“Alex,” you ran over to him. He scooped you up in a hug.
“I’ve missed you so much,” he said putting you down.
“I’ve missed you too,” you smiled.
“Why did no one say Y/N was coming?” Alex said placing a hand on his hip, his arm remaining around your shoulders. Trevor and Jack both looked at your brother, he looked embarrassed.
“I assumed you would figure it out,” Cole said shrugging.
“Cole how could you have left out Alex,” you shook your head.  Jack put your things down by the door as Trevor and Cole went upstairs to pick a room. He nodded at you and Alex then left you two alone to catch up, he looked a little disappointed but seemed to brush it off after you heard him laughing with Cole and Trevor upstairs.
“Is Owen coming too?” you asked Alex as you moved into a sitting area.
“He might, he said he would check, but then just never answered,” he frowned.
“Darn I wanted a reunion,” you snapped your fingers in a cheesy manner.
“Speaking of reunion, what do you want to do, it’s been a little while since we’ve seen each other,” he laughed.
“A little? It’s been like three years, Alex,” you shook your head.
“Okay yeah, it’s been a while,” he elbowed you. There was then an awkward pause, the two of you looked at each other wanting someone to say something.
“You doing okay Y/N/N, you disappeared for a bit,” he said looking concerned.
“Yeah, I broke up with Aiden, wasn’t feeling the best,” you fiddled with your hands in your lap.
“Oh how come, if you don’t mind me asking, but I have to know I’m your best friend after all,” Alex tried lightening the mood.
“I don’t like talking about it, I didn’t want to but I had to, ya know?” you said leaving out the very important details of your black eye.
“Did he do something to you because you know I’ll beat his ass,” he put on his tough guy look.
“He punched me while drunk, he was arguing with someone and I tried to stop him from doing something dumb, he didn’t even see if I was okay, he just kept going, figured the feelings were gone,” your eyes began to water thinking about the memory.
“I’m really sorry Y/N,” Alex said opening his arms for a hug. You fell into the open arms and cried into his chest thinking about how many stupid things and mistakes you made for Aiden. Alex began to rub the back of your head assuring you that you were in fact okay and that your feelings were justified. You finally pulled yourself together and fell into your mopey state again. You picked your head up from his chest and wiped the remaining tears from your eyes.
“I think I’m gonna head upstairs, pick my room,” you said not looking at him.
“At least let me help you bring your things up,” he said rushing over to your things before you could say no.
“Al please, I got it myself,” you were too late. He made his way to the stairs with you following behind him.
“I think you will like this room, It’s not the biggest, but it’s just you staying here so I figured you wouldn’t need a ton of room, It has the best view in the house,” he smiled putting your things down. You loved the view, a beautiful sky with a beautiful landscape underneath it. You sighed and flopped on the bed.
“What you don’t like it? Cause you can always sleep with the spiders in the attic,” Alex grinned.
“No it’s great,” you finally turned and looked at him. He was smiling that same Alex smile you remembered from those years ago.
“Come on Y/N let’s go do something,” he said.
“Don’t feel like it.”
“Y/N please, literally just a walk down to the dock.”
“Fine,” you said slowly getting up. The two of you went downstairs and found Trevor, Jack, and Cole with two other boys you recognized.
“Where are you two going?” your brother asked.
“The dock, showing Y/N/N the lake,” he smiled pulling you into a side hug. Jack and Trevor both looked appalled at that. It didn’t mean anything, and why would they care, you had only been with them a day.
The two of you went out and made your way to the dock, sitting at the edge.
“It’s really great seeing you Y/N, I missed my best friend,” he smiled staring at you.
“I missed you too Alex, like a lot,” you smiled, “I bet you didn’t miss this though,” you said punching his shoulder.
“Ow geez chill,” he said shoving you back.
“No, I don’t think I will,” you said shoving him again. You continued to mess around with each other until Alex splashed you with lake water. You looked at him with a straight face as you splashed way more water back at him, getting his shorts wet.
“You did not just do that,” he said giving the same look back to you.
“Oh yes I did,” you said doing it again. You stood up and ran off the dock back towards the house.
“Get back here Y/N,” he shouted as he began to follow you. You didn’t answer and just kept running but he had caught up to you. He picked you up from behind holding you in a tight grip, attempting to carry your squirming body back to the lake so you could get splashed.
“Alex put me down,” you yelled. You continued to flail your limbs until the boy finally gave in.
“Just like old times Y/N.”
“Yup, like you never left,” you smiled before the two of you went inside. The group of boys was now staring at the two of you.
“Oh my god chill, she’s my best friend,” Alex said to the group.
“Yeah okay,” a boy with red hair said. You approached the group as Alex headed towards the stairs.
“Where’s he going,” another boy chimed in.
“He had a little accident,” you giggled. The group laughed, as you got comfortable and introduced to them.
As more time passed the day was already making you feel way better than you would have been at home for the whole summer. It began to get late and you were feeling a little tired, you didn’t want the same situation as what happened the night before with Jack so you figured you’d head to bed before it was too late.
“I’m going to bed guys, See you all tomorrow,” you yawned.
“Good night,”
“See ya Y/N,”
“Good night sis,” your brother smiled. The good nights continued until an unusual response came from the crowd.
“I’ll walk you up,” it was Trevor. The two of you went upstairs and made your way to the bathroom.
“You didn’t have to do that,” you said as you both stood at the double sink.
“Yeah, but I wanted to,” he smiled.
“Well thanks,” you said gazing into his eyes, You didn’t know why but your heart was racing. You felt your face heating as you continued your eye contact. You cleared your throat and snapped out of the state you were in breaking eye contact, seeing the visible red on your face in the mirror.
“Good night Y/N,” he said kissing your cheek, before leaving and going downstairs. You moved your hand up to your cheek smiling. You got ready for bed with many thoughts occupying your mind keeping you awake. You knew one thing for sure, this summer in Michigan would be interesting.

To The House
Summer in Michigan Series
Warnings: Swearing
“Y/N,” you heard a whisper in your ear as your eyes slowly fluttered open. You realized where you were, still on the couch with your head resting on a familiar shoulder. You panicked because falling asleep on his shoulder was not any of your intentions on this trip, even if it was very comfortable. You sat up instantly as you looked up to see Jack.
“Oh my gosh I am so sorry,” you began to say before he shushed you because there was also a head against your elbow. You looked down to see a sleeping Trevor on your arm and a sleeping Cole on Jack’s other shoulder. You both laughed quietly looking at your surroundings. Your brother and Trevor looked so peaceful.
“Look’s like we are stuck here Y/N,” Jack smiled.
“I guess so,” you shrugged.
“Was I comfortable to sleep on?” Jack laughed.
“Ask the crick in my neck,” you grinned.
“Extra peanut butter,” was mumbled into your elbow, by a sleeping Trevor causing a laughing fit from both of you.
“What was that about?” you said.
“I don’t know but, do you know what time it is?” he asked you.
“Nine thirty-five why?” you say checking your phone.
“Oh shit, we are supposed to meet Alex at ten, fuck we gotta go,” Jack said bolting off the couch.  You poked the boy on your arm as Cole woke up after his temporary pillow was gone.
“What the hell,” your brother said in a groggy state.
“Get up we are gonna be late,” you shouted as you continued to try and wake Trevor. You stood up and shook him forcing him awake, he batted your hands away,
“Just five more minutes,” he groaned.
“We have to leave in five minutes dumbass, now get up,” you shoved him once again.
“What, why did no one tell me,” he said snapping awake.
“Because we just- ugh never mind just get dressed,” you instructed then ran up to the guest room to get ready. You quickly threw on a new set of clothes and ran to the bathroom which was occupied.
“Open up, I need to brush my teeth,” you pounded on the door. The door opened to Jack and Cole brushing their teeth Trevor followed in quickly behind you. You threw your hair up in a messy bun then got your face ready and brushed your teeth.
The four of you barely made it out the door but somehow were only late by one minute.
You hopped in your jeep, expecting to be alone to process your morning, but were mistaken when Trevor opened the passenger’s side.
“Want some company?”
“Actually, I was hoping to destress this car ride,” you said awkwardly.
“Come on, I have the address for the house, I’ll be your navigator,” he smiled.
“Okay fine, get in, but my car means my music,” you stated. He sat down and shut the door behind him as you messed with the music finding what you wanted and your journey began. You tapped on your steering wheel as Trevor started giving you directions.
“Are you singing along?” you said laughing as you heard another voice singing.
“No, no I’m not,” Trevor lied. You two continued your car ride and still continued to hear Trevor’s singing.
“You are singing,” you exclaimed.
“Alright, alright, I’m singing,” he rolled his eyes. The two of you continued your carpool karaoke of pop songs and other music, laughing and somehow managing to get lost after Trevor forgot to tell you to turn. After an extra couple of minutes in the car, you finally made it to the house. You saw Jack and Cole standing outside with arms crossed looking impatient.
“We’re in trouble,” you laughed.
“They can’t do anything to us,” Trevor answered. You parked the car and grabbed your things out of the back.
“What took you so long,” Jack said sternly.
“Trevor got us lost,” you said.
“Understandable, let me grab that, our stuff is inside already,” he smiled.
“Oh thanks,” you shut the back of your car and followed him inside. You were so excited once you got inside to be greeted by a familiar brunette.

Grown Up
Summer in Michigan Series
Warnings: None Note: Bored for the next three weeks this series will be continuing and being uploaded more quickly _____________________________________
Cole hopped out of the car as you put it in park.
“Wow thanks, Cole,” you said to yourself as the door shut behind him. You watched the three boys interact in the driveway. You took a deep breath and got out of the car, you put on a smile as you walked up the driveway.
“Y/N, hey how are you,” Trevor greeted you with a hug. His hug felt warm, unlike any other hug you’d felt before, it was comforting. You felt his fluffy hair against your cheek as the hug came to a close. You felt a nonforced smile on your face, you were actually happy. Jack approached the two of you.
“Well look who’s all grown up,” he grinned. You felt like everything stopped as your eyes met him. The butterflies were back in your stomach once again, as you looked at the smile on his face.
“Twenty-two treated me well,” you smirked. Your brother and Trevor exchanged a look, causing you to be suspicious.
“So where are we going?” your brother asked.
“Yeah about that…” Jack said, “We don’t exactly have the house until tomorrow, Alex is handling the house situation so we are stuck here.”
“So you dragged me out here a day early Cole thanks a lot,” you rolled your eyes.
“I didn’t know Y/N,” Cole said.
“Wait Y/N you didn’t want to come?” Trevor asked.
“No I didn’t mean that,” you said.
“That’s what it sounded like,” Jack said. You felt horrible for how you were acting. You had just been called grown-up and were still acting like the same little girl you were when you first met.
“I’m sorry, I was just all mopey and Cole convinced me to come, I didn’t mean it was a forced thing, I do want to see you guys,” you apologized.
“We forgive you,” Trevor said.
“Yeah,” Jack nodded.
“Ahem,” your brother cleared his throat. You gave him a smile,
“Okay I’m sorry Cole,” he laughed at your apology. The group of you went into the Hughes household with your belongings and settled into where you would be staying the night.
“Y/N, you can go in the guest room, we boys will all stay in my room,” Jack smiled.
“Yeah okay whatever, like I want to see what happens at your sleepovers,” you rolled your eyes. You went to the guest room and unpacked partially, pulling out some toiletries and a set of pajamas. You changed quickly and reopened the door in case anyone came to check on you. There was a little knock on your door that interrupted your organizing. You turned to see Trevor standing in the doorway.
“Come in,” you smiled. He did as you said and sat down on the bed.
“We are gonna play some video games downstairs if you want to come join,” he said.
“I don’t wanna intrude on your boy time,” you laughed.
“Y/N, Cole clearly brought you along for some reason, you aren’t going to intrude,” he smiled.
“Okay I’ll be right down,” you said. He left you in your room, leaving you wondering why he was being so nice. You checked yourself in the mirror fixing your hair before heading downstairs. You saw the three boys spread out over the sectional in the living room. There was an opening next to your brother, there was also an opening next to Trevor. Jack and Cole were sitting too close in the corner laughing and elbowing each other with controllers in hand. You sat in between your brother and Trevor scrolling aimlessly on Tiktok for some form of entertainment. Occasionally a video would make you smile or giggle, getting your brother’s attention.
“What’s so funny Y/N?” he said picking up his head.
“A Tiktok, now go back to cuddling with your boyfriend,” you chuckled. That made the boys laugh except your brother who rolled his eyes and surprisingly did as you told him.
“Jack pass me the controller my turn,” Trevor said reaching across your lap towards Jack, causing a little shiver down your spine. You watched the controller pass over your lap as your eyes met Trevor’s, he flashed you a little wink, you then looked at your brother and then at Jack, neither of them had seen it. What was up with these boys? Why was everyone being so nice to you? You were too lost in thought to notice them talking to you.
“Y/N, hello,” your brother waved a hand in your face. You snapped out of your thinking and apologized.
“Sorry, what were you saying,” you said flustered.
“Do you want a turn, I feel bad your just sitting here,” Jack asked. You eagerly agreed, it would keep you out of your thoughts.
“I forget how to play, it’s been four years after all,” you said.
“I’ll show you,” Trevor said putting down his controller and holding yours along with you. You felt some butterflies form as Cole looked slightly uncomfortable.
“No, that’s not fair you’re playing against her, you’ll make her lose,” Jack sassed him.
“No I won’t,” he said.
“Cole switch with me,” Jack said.
“Guys it’s just Chel, how hard can it be?” you said trying to calm them down however, you were amused by the two cute boys fighting over you. Jack and Cole switched places, you were now squished between them.
“It can be hard playing against an NHL player,” Jack said, “I’m helping.”
“Fine, but you guys are gonna lose,” Trevor grinned. The two of you picked your teams and got ready, Jack positioned your hands around the controller while resting his hands on yours. You stared into each other’s eyes causing the butterflies in your stomach to tumble.
“Okay so Y/N, this is shoot, this is pass or switch player, do this to spin, this is how you hit, and I’ll help you with line changes, got it,” Jack explained. It was starting to come back to you, but to be cute you still “pretended” to struggle. The truth was Trevor was very good at the game.
“See Y/N you would be doing better if I helped you,” Trevor snickered.
“You got it Y/N,” Jack said, “Need help?” he said as Trevor scored another goal, leaving you down 4-0 at the end of the second period.
“Yes, please, actually,” you lied. You weren’t trying, you remembered how to play, but you just wanted to feel Jack’s hands on yours again. He did help, the two of you scored three goals together, leaving Trevor a bashfully frustrated mess.
“It’s up to you now Y/N, you got this,” he said. The pressure was on, and now everyone would know you were faking. You shuffled with the joysticks moving your player to the net and setting him up for a perfect one-timer, leaving Trevor’s goalie face down on the ice sending the game into overtime.
The game continued longer than you expected ending in a shootout.
“Jack,” you whispered, he nodded in response, “what move?”
“Do something fancy you little faker,” he whispered back. You thought and did a move that would be almost impossible for Trevor’s goalie to stop, and it worked, you completed the comeback. You stood up and celebrated, cheering, which you could tell made your brother really happy, he was right all along this trip put you in a good mood.
“I win loser,” you shouted in Trevor’s face.
“HOW DID YOU DO THAT?” he shouted, “Good game whatever Y/N,” he smiled holding out his hand. You were respectful and shook it then went back to celebrating.
“You mean we won,” Jack stood up and joined you.
“Yes we did,” you cheered. Jack matched your energy and danced in Trevor’s face. Cole was grinning away on the couch giggling as Trevor pouted.
“Lighten up Trev, she’s happy,” Cole said.
You sat back down on the couch squished between the boys as they continued to play. It was getting late and you began to drift off, happy with how your first night went.

The Ride
Summer in Michigan Series
Warnings: None
Note: Sorry this took forever
____________________________________________
“So where are we going?” you rolled your eyes.
“Trevor mentioned a lake house, but I don’t know,” your twin shrugged. A lake house sounded nice, your brother was right, you needed to get out.
“So are you just driving my car without a plan?”
“No, we are going to Jack’s, I’m not that irresponsible,” he laughed then quickly stopped. There was an awkward silence in the car. You messed with the radio trying to find something for the two of you to listen to while the directions played throughout the car.
“You excited to see the boys?” you asked your brother.
“Yeah I guess so, it’s not like we don’t see each other,” he shrugged.
“Yeah like twice a year,” you scoffed.
“Okay missy, are you excited to see them?” You could have lied and said no, but you hadn’t seen the boys since high school, and were especially excited to see Jack, after so much pain and heartache you were feeling more confident.
“Yeah, I guess I am,” you were more than an I guess excited, but you couldn’t let your brother know that. You hadn’t seen him since high school and now you were almost done with college. You didn’t have time to watch any hockey in college at all, you were too busy with Aiden and other school responsibilities, the only bits of Jack you would see were on social media and they normally made you smile, but made Aiden upset.
“Really? You are?” Cole sounded excited.
“I don’t know Cole, they’re your friends,” you said.
“Well, they are excited to see you,” he smiled. Your brain wandered thinking about the boys wondering if it would be just like old times.
As the ride continued you two found ways to pass the time, continuing talking, filling each other in, and the occasional karaoke when something good came on. After a couple of hours, the two of you got hungry and made a pit stop to get some lunch.
“Thank you for agreeing to come with me,” your brother smiled.
“Agreeing? You didn’t leave me much of a choice,” you laughed.
“Well it got you out of your slump, you’re finally spending some twin time with me,” he said.
“Yeah whatever,” you said taking a bite of your food, letting out a small smile. Your brother gave you the same one back.
“I can take the last leg of the trip if you want,” you said, “just so you can keep them updated with our location.”
“Really Y/N?”
“Yeah I got it, it’s all plugged into the GPS right?”
“You just want your car back,” he shot you a look.
“You know how much I love Blue Raspberry, you’re lucky I let you drive her,” you rolled your eyes.
“Come on let’s get out of here, we don’t want to keep them waiting,” he smiled. You hopped in your car and got on the road once again, complete with the same activities from the first leg of the ride.
“It’s that one,” your brother pointed as you pulled into a neighborhood.
“Yeah I recognize the house remember I’ve been here too,” you laughed. You pulled in front of the house on the street and parked as the same boys you remembered stood in the driveway ready to greet you.

____________________________________________
You were jolted awake, by your twin brother. You groaned opening your eyes.
“Wake up baby sis,” you rolled your eyes at your brother.
“Stop calling me that, you’re older by two minutes Cole,” you said.
“Still makes you a baby,” he teased.
“Shut up,” you pushed him, “why are you waking me up.”
“You need to get out, you’ve been depressed for weeks over Aiden Y/N, things didn’t work, and you were miserable in that relationship, and it’s offseason I’m bored, entertain me,” he pushed you back causing you to fall off the bed.
“What the hell, leave me alone,” you shouted. You and Aiden had just broken up after a little incident where your parents and brothers did not want you to see him anymore. After too many drinks at a party, you tried to stop him from taking another sip, but his drunk instinct kicked in leaving you with a black eye. When you got back to your apartment, your oldest brother and temporary roommate was up waiting for you. You opened the door hiding your face but looked up when you heard Brock’s throat clear. He was sitting with his arms crossed looking concerned. That night the two of you talked about everything, all the pain from the past couple of weeks, called your parents and twin brother and agreed that it was not right for you to be seeing him any longer.
Now here you were moping in bed over feeling lonely and sorry for yourself, weeks later, only getting up for food and showers.
“Get up Y/N, pack your things, road trip, get ready for a five-hour car ride with your favorite brother,” he gave you a mischievous smile.
“What are you talking about?” You were getting annoyed with this game. Cole always wanted to include you in things while you two attended the University together, but you weren’t ready for plans not now.
“Michigan Y/N, we are going to Michigan, it’s a little reunion, come on it will be fun, Jack and Trevor will be there,” he grinned. You had a crush on Jack as a child, you would always try to intrude when he was with your brother so you could get a little glimpse of your crush, you hadn’t seen him since your senior year, and weren’t sure if you were ready to see him again.
“Okay fine Cole,” you rolled your eyes.
“Yay thank you Y/N, you won’t regret it sis, come on we leave in an hour,” he smiled, “do you have gas?”
“Why?” you asked getting up off the floor.
“Uhh we are taking your car, I mean our car,” he laughed.
“We may have to stop,” you laughed.
“Finally a smile out of you, now pack up,” he said rushing out of the room. You shook your head and grabbed a duffel bag out of your closet, packing up some summer clothes and things you could possibly need for the trip. You met your brother at the car and hopped in the passenger’s seat.
“Please don’t make me regret you driving my baby,” you sighed.
“I’ll take good care of her, trust me,” he said starting your car. The two of you pulled out of your complex and began your five-hour adventure of brother-sister time.
