I was kinda late joining the fandom (didn’t watch s1 until a lil after it came out in the uk) so I missed all the early Discourse, but even now I can absolutely see how the Canyon formed and how it literally feels like just dropping out of the wider fandom into our special safety zone. Like I’ve tried to follow some people who seem neutral or even dislike Izzy but don’t really talk about it, but every so often I’ll see a post that’s properly anti-Izzy and just,,, block and retreat further into my little blog canyon

The Izzy Canyon is so funny and so right for how they interact with the rest of the fandom. I've been in fandom spaces for over seventeen years and in no other fandom I've ever been in has there been such an absolute enclave for one specific guy. Some of the fandom spaces are literally like, "Name? Age and Preferred Pronouns? Do You Love And Appreciate Izzy Hands?" And the answer doesn't HAVE to be yes but if it's no then the response is 'Please behave yourself' and if it's 'I hate that motherfucker actually' then the response is always, "Kindly leave my house."

Okay but, the way Jim says “Nope” when Ed asks them if they think the vibe on the ship is poisonous. The resignation, the exhaustion, the barely concealed fury. The knowledge that they’re being manipulated and that there’s nothing they can do about it. The recognition that Ed’s gone from being troubled to just being a fucking bully. The unwavering eye contact and the way they position themself slightly in front of Archie. So much character packed into one tiny syllable. Vico Ortiz you are ruining my life.
