Thank you so much for your patience as we've rested and regrouped. We are excited to be back (you may have seen Suji's stats post already!) to host brackets, polls, and share other fun posts about kpop, music, and more!

We are currently reworking the Red Velvet song ranking form, and plan to restart the bracket process very soon.

As the kpop idols say, please look forward to it and give lots of support for our comeback!!

Sorry for the delay - but here's the first look at the Ateez survey results!

While we had the most responses yet to our final poll, the initial survey responses were a totally reasonable sample size. Nothing extraordinary like the Stray Kids bracket, but also considerably more than the (G)I-DLE bracket.

The total survey responses gave us a really nice curve of responses, we don't really see a huge drop off anywhere until the end where the ratings dipped down for most of the Intro and Outro tracks.

We had a few sets of songs that received the exact same rating this time around, the most notable being BOUNCY (K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS) and INCEPTION both receiving a 4.27 being tied for 8th place. The top ten results really surprised me - I hadn't heard The Black Cat Nero, Take Me Home, or Turbulence before this bracket. Although, to be fair, I'm still pretty new to Ateez.

I also expected more title tracks to appear in the top ten - Crazy Form ended up ranked 16 and Guerrilla ranked 11. Guerrilla actually received more 5 ratings than Turbulence (13 vs 11), but received two 1 rankings, bringing the overall average down.

Overall, this bracket was probably the most fun to watch unfold! The biggest upset was in the first round when MATZ (26) took down WONDERLAND (7), and then followed up by taking down Turbulence (10) in the next round. But, the real story of this bracket is the final match up - BOUNCY vs HALAZIA. At about 24 hours left in the poll it was pretty much tied with about 60 votes, which was about the average number of responses we had been getting. In the last 24 hours of the polls, literally overnight, we got over 400 votes swaying it in the favor of HALAZIA. It was an absolutely wild ride and so much fun to watch unfold in real time (even though we mourned BOUNCY the whole time).

Thank you so much for participating in this bracket! Each bracket has been fun in different ways, and we're excited to get back into it again. The Red Velvet bracket will be returning soon, with a new more complete survey to kick it off. Hi all!! We're sorry to say that the Red Velvet bracket will be delayed.

We're experiencing a little burnout from the brackets on top of regular life. We want this blog to be a fun and safe space for everyone (us and you) and we feel that we can't deliver the best bracket at this time.

While we may continue to post other content here, that doesn't mean the Red Velvet bracket is gone! We just need a bit of time before we can forge ahead.

A limited number of song options makes perfect sense, especially for groups with more substantial discographies, but in Red Velvet's specific case (and mine as a fan), to have the entirety of Chill Kill to choose from but nothing from Ice Cream Cake, Rookie and (The) Perfect (Red) Velvet feels like the output list is going to be incomplete... Impossible to please everyone, I'm aware 😄 Thank you for all your work!

We're definitely still learning the best way to do these, and hadn't considered that the bracket may feel incomplete. Though upon thinking about it further, it makes a lot of sense and we'll definitely take it into account going forward!

All three of us admins lean more toward casual listener fans with Red Velvet, so this kind of info is super helpful, especially as we expand toward groups we may know even less.

Hi! Will there be a second part of the song selection for Red Velvet with their earlier songs, or are their most recent releases the main focus? (first time making it so early on in the bracket process so not sure how it works, appreciate your understanding!)

Hi!! We're so glad you're here to join us <3

Concerning the song ranking form, there won't be a second part. We want the forms to not be overwhelmingly long, and to feel doable! For each group so far, we've capped the number of songs at 75ish. For someone who's been following a group since debut, that may seem pretty quick and easy, but for a newer fan, or someone who listens casually, it could be pretty daunting!

I completely understand the desire to have all of a group's discography count in the bracket. Some groups have INSANE debut songs that I love to death that wouldn't make it into a bracket with our system (Seventeen, Monsta X, GOT7, etc). But we made a choice to hopefully keep the brackets a tiny bit more accessible for everyone :)

For anyone reading this, tell us your opinion! What do you think about the length of the form? Do you wish it went back further in the discography?

Here is the google form to decide rankings for Red Velvet's songs! The top 32 songs will become the bracket.

The winner of the Ateez bracket has been decided! What was originally a fight between "Halazia" and "Bouncy" ended up with "Halazia" solidly taking the win.

This final poll had our most votes with 486! When we were at 100 or so votes, the difference between the songs was about 1 or 2 votes. But with a larger sample size comes better data and better results.

We were rooting for "Bouncy" but, as Minji said on her personal blog, "I'd rather have more interaction than my personal fave win with less total votes".

Wow!

In the course of one day, our Ateez finals skyrocketed. What was once a close race, with about 100 votes, has now turned completely. We're sitting at 400 votes (and counting) with a clear winner emerging. There are still 2 days left in the poll, however, so get your votes in quick!

We all anticipated 'Halazia' winning; we know Atiny's love it. I don't think any of us expected to see such a turnout for this final poll. It's incredible to see and exactly what we hoped for with this blog.

As we approach the end of the Ateez bracket, we hope many of you stay with us on this journey. We're not a one-group blog, and love every interaction or suggestion we get. So please, stay around and join us for the next bracket.

DEMIGOD (listen here)

We like DEMIGOD a lot. Immediately we love the bass to start the song, and the drum beat. Suji said it was like a pep band drum beat, which is fun, and reminds us of other pop divas that have used a similar drum beat (Beyonce and Gwen Stefani immediately come to mind). Minji noticed that it’s the same beat as Blitzers’s “Check-In” as well - we’re sure there are many others that use it as well. The chorus stutter is fun and interesting.

Overall, big fan! The intro is like orchestra hits and immediately stole our attention! The synth bass under the verse is.. phat (according to Minji). For all you (G)I-DLE fans, it’s reminiscent of “I Want That” with the bass hovering underneath the verses. We noticed influences of technohouse music - primarily in the synth chorus. There’s no words in the chorus, which is because this style of music the chorus is meant to be used as a dance break. It has futuristic/cyberpunk vibes. One of our favorite parts is at 2:23 where the instrumentals match the same rhythm with the vocals, creating this almost heart-skipping moment in the music.

ICHILLIN' will be releasing their 3rd mini album Feelin' Hot tomorrow (3/7). There is talk that they might disband if this comeback doesn't do well. We've loved listening to their music (more than just these two songs), and encourage you to listen, too!

Hello! I don't know if you review songs on demand, but would you consider doing it with Ichillin's Bite me or Demigod? Their new EP is out very soon and both these songs were pre-releases. They're pretty nugu, but I thought it might help to spread the word a little bit because I've read on Twitter that it's kind of the last chance for them. It would be a shame if they flopped and had to disband, I'm very fond of quite a few of their songs... Thank you in advance if you consider this or any other sort of boost :)

We absolutely will review songs on demand! Us three listen to mostly the same music and we love getting recommendations for other groups - especially newer ones.

We do have a full post underway with our thoughts on IChillin' and these songs, but I can say with full confidence that we really like their music. It's a shame they aren't well known because we really liked what they've already put out.

IChillin's 3rd mini album is coming out March 7th! That's tomorrow everyone! Please give this new group a listen 🫶
